So a buddy of mine who reviews video games as a profession approached me a while back and I'll be damned if he didn't profile me right on the button. He asks me, "Hey -----, you like mechs right?"
To which I responded with a big thumbs up.
"You like animals right?"
To which I looked at him and laughed (I was wearing my collar at the time).
Then he shows me this DS game Solatorobo. It's essentially a spiritual successor to Tail Concerto, a PSN game which I must confess to never having played. Never the less, I was so intrigued by this game I went out and bought myself a DS and a copy of Solatorobo.
I don't feel I have any right to review this game, as my opinion is insanely biased, but I think this is a title you DS owners should definitely consider picking up. Every thing has received very special attention from the developers. The art is outstanding (though it's a shame it's confined to the tiny DS screen), the animation wonderful, the fiction (though somewhat cliche) is interesting and downright captivating and the gameplay is definitely unique. Coupled with an amazing score and you're given an outstanding presentation the likes of which you'll find yourself enjoying throughout, and if you're like me, will be coming back to again and again.

Kind of hard to do if someone punked your DSixl off you, but it does sound like a good game.

Just when I thought there would never be anything DS-related worth playing anymore. I definitely need to buy this game.

It's a fun game. The piloting mini-game can be a pain though (Especially if you have sticky or non-responsive L/R buttons like my DSi :/ ), but it's nicely done with a great storyline. I've already played and beaten the predecessor Tail Concerto.

Lucky you, it's a very rare find nowadays. There's an unopened copy at a game resale store near where I live. They want $200 for the thing. Ouch.

eek Kind of reminds me of how this one vendor at a weekend market here wants regular retail price (or more) for a number of used PS2 games. No way I'd be pay $70 plus tax for a used copy of one of the .Hack// games. Managed to find it elsewhere cheaper and unopened. On the topic of video games, a little while ago there was a video game development conference here and I did some volunteer work for, which in the game demo room there was some new stuff being features as well as Brawl. I got interviewed because a news crew saw me playing Tetris on my GBC. A co-volunteer later played the same game via emulator on his phone.

That's really odd. I've seen it at my local Gamestop several times for only $30 or so.

Khleo_The_Fox Lucky you, it's a very rare find nowadays. There's an unopened copy at a game resale store near where I live. They want $200 for the thing. Ouch. Search Gamestop.com That's where I found my copy, for less than $30.

They're probably open or used copies though. The store I'm familiar with is more of a collector's locale. They even have imported twin famicom systems and the failed virtual boy. As well as just about any other thing imaginable gaming related.
Who knows. I could be wrong, but most of the searches I find for sealed versions are roughly the same price.
