Then in Sailor Moon R things go awry.
In the distant future, Sailor Pluto silently pines for Mamaru, and when a catastrophe happens, she finds the excuses she's always needed. If Usagi and Mamaru arn't split up in the past, then the future will be destroyed. She sends Rini back to the past, with teh pretense of finding the Silver Crystal, where she inadvertantly writes herself out of history by helping Wiseman and Diamond break up the duo.
Thanks to the interferience, in the Gemstone Universe, Diamond succeeds in winning Usagis heart during Sailor Moon R. In the next season, Pluto and Mamaru get together.
Because of the time line changes, No one, including Pluto is ever aware of Pluto's treachery.
Sailor Moon S:
Sailor Chibi Moon is replaced with Sailor Ruby who comes to the past for similar reasons. Her appearance breaks Mamaru's heart further as he realizes that he's not getting Usagi back. Latter in the season he is comforted by Setsuna and they end up an item.

Diamond and Usagi:
Diamond and Usagi's marry and have two daughters. Fraternal Twins, Sophie and Ruby. They grow up to be Sailor Ruby and Sailor Sapphire.
Thanks to Alcohol and magic, Sapphire, Diamonds Brother also slept with Usagi around the time of conception.
When Sailor Sapphire and Rubi is born, because of the timing and hair color, Sapphire thinks Sophie is his and Kidnaps her.
Sapphire doesn't discover her real parents until she becomes a senshi years later.
The family of four now live in a castle on the moon.
To repeat: Sailor Chibi Moon was never born and doesn't exist. (maybe she accidently wrote herself out of history. That's what she gets for time traveling!)
In latter seasons where Sailor Chibi Moon shows up, Sailor Rubi shows up instead, for similar reasons.
Pluto and Mamaru
Meanwhile, Sailor Moonstone, Sailor Charoite and Sailor Onyx are the daughers of Pluto and Mamaru.
Moonstone is the oldest, then Onyx is born in 2001. Charlotte is born in 2006. (making them 25 and 20 respectively)
Onyxes were-cat story line occurs while Pluto is pregnant with Charlotte. Pluto fights the creature, not knowing of her condition. 9months latter Charlotte is born blind.
Charlotte marries her sweetheart Charles in 2024 (on 18th birthday)
The current year is 2026. (30 years after galaxia)
