So, it's been a while since I've come up with my own RP thread, outside of my old play-by-post D&D games. But thanks to those games, I had come up with various campaign settings and ideas over the years. I'm sick of letting these great ideas just sit in my own psyche for the next few years because I don't have any players or a play to run. So, I shall see if anyone here is interested.
Steam Age Arcanus
I've always found the combination of technology and magic interesting, as I've also thought that war between the two is just as interesting. Thus, Arcanus. So here's the hook:
You, and your party, were a part of the invading Legion for the Golden Empire of Tarnis. The Imperial Legion's conquest was cut short, as they were pushed back by the Elven Kingdom. During the Legion's retreat through a valley, you were ambushed and seperated from your unit. For some of you, this is a blessing in disguise - you were drafted into the Legion and at this point, you'll be recorded as MIA, which means you can leave the army and return home. For a small select few, this is a chance to prove yourself to the Empire and fight your way back to your unit.
Regardless of your choices, it's going to be a long trip home...
Thoughts? Questions? Concerns? Witty remarks?

It's been a while, indeed. And of course I'd respond, I like your style. XD
I'm doing alright. Finished University and job hunting, working a temporary job in the meantime. Raising the kids, keeping the wife happy, and writing/roleplaying on my downtime. She accepted the invite here, actually. I ought to remind her to get on that intro post.
How've you been?

Not bad. Enjoying my own married life, trying to get back into role-playing and drawing, struggling to get through my classes this semester (my two CG classes aren't so bad, but the other two are just painful), suffering from a lack of hours at work and a broken PS3 so I can't play many games outside of my compy. But yeah, not too bad for the most part.
Hell, lemme know if there's any good RPs to join. I doubt this idea will really take off (since it's more action based than normal RPing).

Will this roleplay resemble D&D at all? ((I was in one like that once where we used a random number generator and times that by our characters stats to see if we dodged an attack or how much damage an attack did. It was really fun.))

I'm really interested in this RP. I'm an avid DnD player, and I love the idea of steampunk-esce weaponry. I want to see this happen Yamazaki!

@Hinabi Gysuki: Very loosely D&D-ish. I like free-form for the sake of the lack of rules constraining the play-style. A rule system like that would be handy if there was to be any real amount of PvP, but I don't see that happening much, and even then, I'd rather play through it via good role-playing. I love me some serious action writing, to be honest. @Archemis Fenikkusu: Who doesn't love the idea of steam-punk? I've come up with way too many crazy steam-powered weapon ideas for my own good. @Alykia: Indeed Responses aside, I am honestly surprised at the number of people who are gung-ho for this. That said, I may need to get some actual story rough-drafted up before we start. In the meantime, I shall bless you all with some of my campaign notes, so you guys can work out character sheets. Oh wait, I've already posted those online! HAHA! I'm brilliant! Although I must admit I hadn't posted everything I had in mind there yet, and I might not anytime soon. Got a job, school, and a wife after all... Yamazaki's Blog posts about Arcanuim!Anyone with plot ideas, lemme know. I like ideas! Alrighty, now that I have a little downtime and Borderlands isn't sucking all of my free attention, it's time to get this thing rolling. Assuming people are still interested. If you are, then post your character concept here, so nobody's ideas overlap too much. Tomorrow, I'll whip up a main RP thread, an OOC thread, and of course the character profile thread. Until then, feel free to write up those profiles. profile skeleton User name: Name: Appearance: (I'm cool with images and all, but I also love it when people also include a written description) Skills: (this includes magic, but remember not to go over board. Not everyone is a mage...) History: (do as much or as little as you want - I'd rather RP most of character's backstory) Equipment: (it's a campaign that heavily involves war - I expect weapons, armor, and other gear. Don't get too carried away though) Other: I know, it's not some fancy thing - I'd rather keep it that way. Those big, pretty profile skeletons do tend to turn me away from some RPs. Simplicity is a god-send. If you notice, I don't have a slot for personality, nor do I require a full history. I'd much rather RP those factors, as, let's face it, it makes for a better story and better writing. I have a bit of fame for using flashbacks often... Anyways, feel free to ask questions, give comments, and all that good stuff.
