Clem was getting low on his store of dried flowers, and he had an order for some specific flowers that he didn't have. He had to go pick more.

He knew of a field that carried the flower the client wanted, but it was kind of far away from his workshop field. Oh well, couldn't be helped, clients get what they want.

He had his large leather pouch hung around his neck, and was determined to stuff it full with as many flowers as he could, to last him at least another month.

He bent his neck and gently bit the stem of the first flower, and dropped it in the pouch, then did the same with another, picking only the ones that he was sure were healthy and would make the best arrangements.

User ImageIt was a lovely day, and all the time he'd spent with his girls had really turned what had been a cold, wet morning much better. After falling into a stand of brackish water when a log broke underneath him, he was sure the day could be written off. But as always, his girls had come to his rescue.

Owl had crooned lovely, hopeful melodies to him as she perched on his head, while his lovely Myth helped him get the vines and slimy weeds off his coat, and then to find a running stream. It was getting onto late afternoon, and a nap in some warm, syrupy sunlight had even his own voluminous fur dry and warm.

"I suppose you'll want to pretty up yourselves, after you helped me," he said to his companions, watching them. Myth seemed to approve, and Owl looked as content as ever. He flicked his tail, amused."Well, I do know where a lovely stand of poppies is. And it's just a short stroll away. No bridges, even."

It was a pleasant walk, slow enough so that Myth could tread alongside him, while Owl hung onto his back scales and trilled some little tune. He paused when he saw another form in the clearing, though. What do I do? Pass through, maybe, or maybe he won't notice me if I just turn around to-

Clem looked up as he heard the sounds of another kimeti entering the clearing.

He bent down to pick another flower, and then realized what he had seen.

He looked back up at the ...beautiful kimeti that had appeared.

His black, rainbow-streaked, flowing hair, the stripes wondering across his body, the fluffy big tail.

Clem felt his face grow hot and he buried it into the group of flowers that he was picking, and mumbled some random words, he wasn't even sure if they were words.

... leave... without being seen. Oh, bother. It seemed the young buck would have to be sociable, or something, now that the other had noticed him, and was apparently murmuring something. At least, that's what Myth appeared to be suggesting, as the crane walked leisurely into the clearing.

"I... Pardon me? I didn't quite catch what you said," the silver-pelted male remarked awkwardly as he followed his companion, letting the statement hang, almost as though he had been going to add something else, but had quickly decided against it.

He... knew that it was rude to stare. But... he couldn't quite bring himself to stop. The crystalline fronds floating on the other buck's horns commanded attention, then other things... such as the soft, but striking way that his pelt undulated, with the lilac giving way to mauve, then peach.

"Uh-uhm...."

Clem suddenly realized that he should probably put down the flower that he had clenched in his teeth. Probably ruined, but the thought never crossed his mind and he just dropped it in his pouch.

"I like your tail." He tried to say it in a suave manner, but he couldn't really tell if it worked.

Goddessdamnit Clem couldn't you have said something a little better than that?! He was sure the handsome buck was staring because he was being stupid.

Oh well, it was out, Clem could only hope for the best. He smiled, again, couldn't tell if it was awkward or suave like he was going for, and trotted to a patch of flowers that was closer to the kimeti.

Bright's eyes widened slightly, and said tail twitched slightly in a nervous gesture, before he wrapped it securely around his leg in what could almost be described as embarrassment.

"I... thank you. It's a bit of a nuisance at times, though..." he said, stepping forward hesitantly, and stopping well short of what he'd been almost about to do when Myth stepped on his foot. Oh. Right. Personal space. "Umm... I think that flower might have been a little on the damaged side to keep for very long..." he remarked.

"Huh?" Clem looked down at the almost-pristine white flower that was still laying on top of the others, his teeth marks clear in the bruised and broken stem. "Oh! You're right, that one's no good, I can't give that one to a client. But...."

He had come to the clearing to get specifically red flowers, and if Clem was right....

He quickly dipped his head and let the pouch slide over his head and settle on the ground. He gently pulled out the white flower and set it down, quickly plucking two of the red flowers that grew here. Picking all three up at once with their stem ends in his mouth, he deftly twisted them tightly together with his tongue. There, a quickly put-together adornment. He walked closer to his companion and set it down in front of him.

"It won't last you more than a day, but it'll look nice with your colors. Might as well put it to some good use instead of wasting it, right?" He gave the handsome kimeti a small smile. Making that had calmed him down, he wasn't feeling nervous anymore.

Bright blinked, almost frozen for a moment as he watched the purple buck take a trio of flowers, and skillfully turn them into a twisted-together arrangement. He almost rolled back to sitting, he was so unsure.

"I... thank you. I love poppies." He leaned over a little bit, turning to face the feathered figure settled next to him before adressing her with a blink. Myth leaned over to pluck up the knot of flowers, drawing short before the small songbird on Bright's back snapped her wings open, gliding to the ground. "Owl, what are you...?! Get back here!"

The bird in question trilled her game tune as she took wing, wheeling easily out of reach as she paraded the flowers. "I... umm." He leaned back to stare up at the bird, obviously intent on not stopping in her apparent game. "... she's not going to get bored for a while. I don't know if she's contrary, or just that dim."

Clem laughed at the songbird's antics. He was in too good of a mood to be annoyed.

"Little girl, white doesn't match you at all! Here, if you'll give those back, I'll make you a red one, and it won't be as big, so it will be easier to carry!" He plucked two small buds and twisted them as well, biting two small slits in the ends and slotting those together to make sure they stayed. When all was done, he held his head high with the stem in easy reach to allow the songbird to easy grab it if she wanted.

The songbird swooped low, snatching the second flower trinket by the stem before taking to the air again.

Bright laughed. It started as a snort, and somehow worked it's way to the slightly embarrassing, almost effeminate-sounding laugh he'd gotten from his mother.

Myth blinked sedately, seeming almost more amused by her charge's actions than the slip of fluffed-up feathers that passed for Bright's other winged companion.

"Ah, so I guess we can't bribe her to give them back, huh?" Clem grinned, his companion had a really cute laugh. "That's fine, if she doesn't give it back after a while, I'll make you another one."

He went over to his bag and nosed his head through its strap, picking it up once more.

"You can call me Clem, by the way. You got a name, or can I just call you Fluffy Tail?" Clem wasn't used to teasing, but he felt really comfortable with this buck, he wanted to let loose after years of being too afraid of everyone. No, too afraid of girls, of something he thought he was supposed to have, something he found he didn't need. But maybe, well, he shouldn't get ahead of himself, but he would absolutely admit that this buck was handsome.

"That's Owlcat, all right," he remarked. "She'll get bored. Eventually. Probably." He trailed along just slightly behind the other buck, noting the soft shades of purple with private admiration. And then the buck came to his bag, put it on, and introduced himself. "Oh. Well. Youcouldcallmethatifyoureallywanted..." It's not that fluffy, is it...? "But, well, in any case, I'm Bright." He paused, seeming almost embarrassed, turning back for another peek at his rather voluminous tail, before turning back, slightly flustered by his lack of politeness, and inability to be direct. Or maybe it's more along the lines of Not-so-Bright. "Oh, pardon me for forgetting myself like this. I'm not usually quite this scatterbrained. It's a rare pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Clem."

"Ha ha, if she'll take that long, I'll just go ahead and make you another one." He picked more flowers, and did the same as before, letting his mind think as his body automatically did the motions it was so used to. Bright, Clem liked the name, especially the bright strands in his hair. And it seemed that he was embarrassed of his tail, which was really kind of nonononono notgoingthere notyet. But.... His heart was pounding, and he decided to go ahead and do it, cause if he thought about it he would loose his courage.

"Um, would you mind if I put it in your hair? Owlcat will probably try to snatch it away again if I don't do it myself."

He was afraid the thumpthump thumpthump of his heart would cover up Bright's answer.

Once again, the silver-and-black buck was mesmerized by Clem's quick, skillful movements as he deftly picked appropriate flowers, picking from the bases of their stems to leave enough to work with. He seemed almost spellbound by the actions in making the arrangement as he watched, and tried to puzzle through quite how he'd done it, and so quickly, too! He watched as a pair of poppies, just beginning to truly bloom, were effectively tamed and tangled with one of the white flowers from the other kimeti's bag. He saw they stems go into the other buck's mouth by their stems, coming out once again into an elegant knot, making the trio of flowers into a small arrangement. He blinked, tilting his head in quiet fascination, wanting more than ever now to ask the other buck just how he had learned to do those knots, and whether he would consider possibly teaching him, when he was broken from his thoughtful reverie.

"Oh. Umm, yes, that's a very good idea..." he said, tilting his head back to as even a position as he could manage, so that the purple buck could put the arrangement on him more easily.

Clem took a quick, calculating look at Bright's face. He noticed the planes and angles of his face, and the fall of his hair, but it was all work. Nothing could distract Clem when he was working, not even beautiful men. He decided on Bright's left side, tucked behind his ear, but still sticking out far enough that it didn't look like it was jammed right behind his ear.

Clem approached the other buck and gently fed the stems through his hair and behind his ear. He nudged it to get it precisely in place, and then he realized he could feel the other buck's breath on his shoulder, and it all rushed in and hit him.

He'd never been this close to a boy before, and he felt his instincts, his feeling kicking in. He wanted to lick Bright's ear. Then he blushed bright red and and pulled back, turning back toward the flowers. "Sorry," he murmured, grabbing a nearby flower.
