The Pridelands are a vibrant, beautiful land. The magestic Pride Rock is settled near the center of the lands, turned towards the east and the rising sun. Directly to the east, rolling hills lay, covered in grass. This is also the direction of the waterhole and one of the major Prideland's rivers, the Tamu'maji.
Beyond the Pride Land borders, mountains begin to raise up to the sky, marking the beginning of the previous Umande'mfuni territory. To the west beyond the borders, a smaller mountain range sits, towards the Ela'wadiyi. Between that and Pride Rock are several large savannahs, coupled with some small forests and a large rock outcropping. There is also a small waterfall and cavern near the southwest end. To the northeast is the dark elephant graveyard, the Mava'Bunda pack, while to the north, a large gorge splits the land apart. Beyond that, where the Pridelands end, a vast desert stretches out, owned by the Motoujamii-Simo pride. To the south, there are more rolling hills, and the Tamu'maji river slows to a trickle as it reaches the end of the border.

Though Lengusoni was raised as the heir to the Pridelands, it wasn't certain that he was ready to lead the massive pride. Simi and Tufah worked with their daughter, Uru, to become the next heir, as Hanjari was sent to become the Emperor of Tianxia to create an alliance with the pride.
Soon after, a conflict with the Mava'Bunda became unavoidable, and a small war broke out. Though the Pridelands won, there were many losses on both sides, and a distinct distrust of hyenas grew within the hearts of many members of the pride. Though the hyenas remain quiet for now, the damage had been done. Simi was severely injured from a hyena attack during the worst of the fighting. Crippled, the King rarely leaves Pride Rock now, and it was uncertain as to who would take his place once he stepped aside, as Uru's position is unclear.
The news took a while to reach Hanjari, as the Tianxia lands are not close, a journey of about two weeks. Concerned about the complications of the throne, Hanjari and his wife, Ari, agreed to send one of their sons to become the next heir. Though he was still part of the royal bloodline, there was still contempt of the fact that he was not born within the boundaries of the Pridelands. Still young, many of the pride is waiting to see what happens and how the young her, Tau, matures.(last updated June 9th, 2012)

The Pride Land pride believes in the circle of life: life, death, and ressurection. They believe that all things have a balance, and frown upon any excess of anything; they take only what they need from the hunts, careful not to overcultivate the herds. They also believe that souls live on; their royalty turn to stars when the rulers die, looking over all. The Pride Lands have always been a place of plenty for those that have ruled and lived there. As long as anyone can remember, there have been a pride of lions at Pride Rock; some cruel and cold, but most kind and just, allowing the lands to flourish and prosper.
Ahadi, the former King, was old when his Queen finally produced two heirs; Taka, the firstborn, and Mufasa, the secondborn. Taka took after his mother, Uru, while Mufasa had inherited his father's robust looks. Taka, as was custom, was betrothed at birth to one of the newborn females in the pride: Sarabi. The cubs grew. The two brothers were great friends; Mufasa did not begrudge Taka his position, nor did he particularly seem to want it. They flourished into juveniles...always off on some adventure or getting into mischief, perhaps a little more spoiled than most, but both still retained the innocence of childhood.
But nothing is meant to last. Ahadi was getting old, and weakening, and his sons were not yet strong enough to reign. In the dark of the night, a coalition of two males came in and killed the King, taking over the lands. That same night, Taka and Mufasa had to flee for their lives, Taka taking with him the 'scar' that would brand him for the rest of his life. They disappeared into Umande'mfuni territory, largely ignored because the pride, at the time, were having troubles of their own. Months passed. Taka and Mufasa grew into adolescents, both nursing their hurts. Taka - always the intelligent one of the twain - thought it best to wait until they had gained their full strength before returning to the lands and challenging the rogue Kings. But Mufasa, impetuous and headstrong, disappeared one night to challenge them of his own accord. By lucky coincidence, one of the rogue males was out on patrol when Mufasa arrived. The young former prince, with the rage and untapped raw strength of adolescence, drove the other rogue out, before setting the rest of the pride - who were only too happy to get rid of the tyrants - out to drive out the patrolling rogue male.
When Taka arrived the next day, it was to find that, in gratitude, the pride had given Mufasa the throne.
Bitter and shocked, he protested...but to no end. Mufasa felt, rightly, that he had earned the position by avenging their father's death. Nothing Taka said would sway him or the lionesses. In the end, he had to accept defeat, nursing the wound to his dignity. He's had a lot of time to think about his past...a past that could well shape the rest of his and the pride's future.
Simba was born right on schedule, the only child of the litter and the rightful heir to the Pride Lands throne. Several rogue cubs entered the territory, and were accepted into the pride; but they have since dispersed again. Sarafina, Sarabi's longtime childhood friend, briefly returned from her wanderings with a new daughter, Nala.
Then disaster struck. The plague which had struck the Umande'mfuni seems to have lingered for awhile before striking again, this time into the very heart of the Pridelanders. Many of the lionesses fell to it; as did Simba, the prince, and his uncle Taka.
But life goes on. The former Motoujamii prince, Mwali, was accepted into the pride, and to the surprise of all, fell in love with Koho, the pride's nanny. Bakhti and Mahiri, a mated pair, were also recently accepted into the pride shortly after Mwali and Koho, the latter heavy with cubs, left to go discover what was left of Mwali's kin. Mufasa and Sarabi had their second litter...one of six didn't survive; and Bakhti had her first, two beautiful little cubs.
The Pride Lands just keep giving and giving...life flourished for the pride. Mufasa and Sarabi's cubs have reached adulthood. One of the boys, Uumikaji, has left the pride...it's rumored that he fathered the nearby Kusini'Mwezi's princess's cub. Kiuma, too, has disappeared. Bakhti's cubs have also grown, but only Mchele remains...Kiburi has wandered off, and nobody is quite certin of her whereabouts.
Maawio has grown into a fine huntress, and now has a little cub in tow. It seems to be the season for cubs...Koho and Jasiri have had their litters, and Bakhti has had her second. With all the mouths to feed, it's lucky that there have been several new members in the pride, including Danzi, the son of the late Lord Taka.
Mwali has returned with Koho and their litter. Both Uumikaji and Rehani had cubs in their adolescence, by a brother and sister of the Kusini'Mwezi lands. Mufasa and Kamilika have returned from her lessons on ruling, and are now touring the Pridelands to let the subjects meet the heir. Kiuma has disappeared into the lands beyond on a journey, and no one has had word of her whereabouts, not even her twin. Among the new rogue arrivals is Shomoro. She is the daughter of Dini, a former lioness of the pride, and one of the rogue brothers that had taken over in Sarabi's childhood.
The old queen's health and the traumatic loss of her mate Mufasa brought a sudden end to the long-lasted rulers of the Pridelands. As she was arranged to Kamilika has taken up the throne and done her best to keep things running as they were before her parents ascent to the stars. Kamilika and her consort have born 9 cubs, in a surprise move the queen skipped over the first born child, naming the twins the heirs to the throne. In pridal tradition both heirs had been given an arranged mate. A foreign princess and a Prideland 'peasant'.
It wasn't meant to be. Kamilika and her heiress were stolen from the Pridelands. Many searched them out, but no one could find them. Confusion reigned over the royal family. The uncertain Simi ended up stepping forward to take the throne, developing a council (unheard of in the Pridelands) of old, wise members to help him lead the Pridelands out of the chaos that had enveloped them. He took a Queen, Tufah, part of Taka's decedents, and she bore him three children. (last updated: June 9th, 2012)

The Pridelands is a very open pride. All members are expected to have open minds, and be accepting of their fellow pride members. The ultimate goal is one of peace and prosperity under the sun that resides above them.
Non-Lions Though the Pridelands is a lion-dominated pride, any species is welcome to live within the boundaries of the Pridelands. They are expected to help contribute to the society as best they can, through hunting, scouting, being a nanny, ect. As such, cross-over romance can (and has) happened. Hybrids are treated like any other member, and expected to pull their weight to live within the protection of the large pride.
Rite of Passage - Adolescent Once a member hits adolescence, they are taken out for their first hunt. It may be with their fellow litter mates, or more skilled hunters, but they are expected to learn how to hunt and take down their first kill. It is an important milestone, as it begins the respect and expectation that the member will help contribute to the survival and prosperity of the pride.
Religion They believe in the Circle of Life - everything that is born will eventually die again, and return to the earth. The world is about balance, and everyone who joins the pride is expected to follow that. Do not overhunt, do not take more than what is needed. Respect the death that brings you life.
Gods/Goddesses The Pridelands is not religious in the aspect of Gods. The royal family does not put belief into gods, so though a god may pass through the pride, they are expect to act like any other member of the pride - respectful and courteous. They may live within the pride as well, as long as they help fellow members. They are given no special treatment.
Seers While there are many seers that live within the Pridelands, they are not utilized in any way. They are treated like everyone else, unless their visions become violent or severe. Then they are normally kept near the nannies to help keep an eye on them.

Breeding is always open within the Pridelands. Mated pairs can breed, as well as flings (including rogue breedings). Adolescent breeding is also permitted. It may interfere with their hunting training, as every member learns how to hunt for survival reasons, but the nannies are always willing to help.
Please do not forget that the mother is required to be on the Prideland cert to receive PL-lineart babies. If you've posted for a cert change, make sure to link that in your breeding form.
If you would like to breed in the Pridelands, you need to post your pair in this thread. Posting for breeding also acknowledges that all your PL lions are on the memberlist!
As the Pridelands is an open and welcoming pride, all species are welcome to join. Because of this, hybrid breeding is allowed and possible in mix and match. Please be aware of this.
