~*~ Room 1 ~*~

As you enter this room, you realize that you are high. Literally. You and your group is on a very high ledge without safety rails. In front of you, you can see what looks to be five different slides. Carefully, you peer over the edge. You can't see the bottom -- the mist is too thick. You think you can see a ladder, however there are far too many rungs missing to make it usable. It looks like the only route you have available is to go down a slide...

It was dark inside the haunted house and she realized instantly that they were really high up.

Thank Jack she wasn't afraid of heights! In fact, she absolutely loved it! She could climb on walls, ceilings, even the sides of buildings, and of course, it was always fun to leap off of them as well. She couldn't help but clap her hands in excitement. Of course, jumping off the side of the ledge wasn't an option. She couldn't see the bottom and even zombies could get hurt. They could even die. She'd have to take one of the slides for sure.. but the question was, which one?

A, B, C, D, or E?

It looked as if they were all marked, each one inviting her to trust it. A was for Attacking, B was for Brains, C was for Corpse, D was for Death, and finally, E was for Eating. "Gonna have to go with my guts on this one," she mumbled to herself as well as her group. "I'm going to go with Brains, I mean, B."

She patted the messenger bag she carried and walked towards the slide she had chosen. She was still holding the pumpkin pills and hoped she wouldn't lose them. She double checked her bag for holes and was relieved to find that though in bad condition, the seems were all in tact and tight. They were safe as long as she didn't lose the bag.

"It might be better if we stick together," she offered her group, feeling like some advice was needed. "I make bad decisions usually so if you end up going down another slide, I understand. Know that I will find you." She turned and grinned at them as broadly as she could, "The one thing these slides have in common is that they all go in the same direction, right? Down!"

With a quick salute she turned back towards the slide and jumped down, landing against it hard enough for one of her bones to pop. "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee," she cried out excitedly. The sound of her voice grew fainter as she descended into the shadows below.

When they walked into the house Circe hadn't noticed right away that she was up high until she looked over the edge of the platform, almost slipping off the edge. Thankfully she hadn't. That probably wouldn't have been a very pleasant sight, splattered necromancer. Although, Rain would probably be very happy with the option of a meal before they continued on. Sheridan on the other hand probably would have just rolled his eyes and decided it wasn't worth the cost of using one of the pumpkin seeds as there would be one more for him or Rain if they should need it later.

Circe was using her method of eenie-meanie-minie-mo to decide which slide she would go down until Rain made the decision to go down the B slide. Obviously it was for her own zombie reasons that she had chosen to go down that particular slide. But since Circe lacked good decision making she decided she would
follow her down slide B and just hope that it turned out to be the right one. She turned to face Sheridan before she walked to the slide. "I'm going to follow her down slide B. You can choose to follow us or go down one yourself." She said with a grin, signifying that she really would be fine with whatever decision he chose for himself as she couldn't control him. Unfortunately.

Deciding it was time for her to move on down the slide so Rain wasn't waiting to long for her and move on to whatever was next after her. She stepped forward slowly, walking towards the beginning of the slide. After taking a deep breath she reached the slide and looked down it. Sadly she couldn't see the bottom which didn't help make this decision any easier. Not that it would be if she could see what laid below. With a quick closure of her eyes Circe sat down and pushed herself down, a light scream escaping her lips which was unreadable as to being a scream of fear or excitement. Now to see where the slide took her!

The dragon's eyes narrowed, his tail twitching as he peered over the edge without hesitation. Well, not entirely without hesitation, though it was not the height that had him on edge. Why was he here again? Right back in the same place he had sworn he would never be again, on yet another supposed 'field trip'. Had he forgotten the lessons he'd learned from the last one, that horrid island that had nearly left them all left in oblivion. To make it worse, it was Red who was in charge of this particular field trip, or maybe it was that fact that had encouraged him to join this trip. As much as he distrusted the werewolf (and all the staff for that matter), he had come to the conclusion that she was the least insane among the staff at Ammityville.

And yet he couldn't shake the feeling that he was going to regret this...

In fact he was sure of it. And not because he wasn't sure of the state his room would be in when he returned, of whether the cat of evil would have shredded his room, his books, and attempted to devour the other minipets who shared his room.

The height however he did not think twice about. He was a dragon, he flew to the edges of the atmosphere, his kind flew to the stars, he was not afraid of heights. That fog obscuring wherever the slides led was another matter entirely, a flood of memories of the last fog he had seen hitting his senses like a bad nitemare. And though he could fly, he did not like the idea of flying (or sliding) into the unknown.

Sheridan was far less eager to choose a path down than his classmates, eying the slides warily, logically, trying to calculate the best choice. Taking the same path as the others would have been the easy choice, or rather the one he wouldn't have had to think about. And yet, what if that had been the wrong path, would it not be better to split up in the hopes that one of them would find the right path and thus be able to guide the others. On the other hand, there was a danger in splitting up, what if they ended up separated and were unable to find each other?

Arms crossed, his tail twitched as he debated, the thought of simply gliding down on his own wings foremost in his mind. It was a choice he thought better of, not particularly caring for the idea of colliding into what he could not see beyond the fog and plummeting to his death below. In the end he elected to take path C, taking a deep breath before climbing onto the slide and praying it did not lead him to his death.

He really hoped he didn't regret this...

The 'B' slide groaned and creaked beneath Rain and Circe. They tumbled down around corner's, and under other foreboding structures. There was no light... The mist was cold, and visibility was limited, but, finally, with a soft thud, they landed safely below...

Sadly the same could not be said for Sheridan. The dragon would soon come to regret his choice as he went speeding down towards the bottom. The mist seemed to get colder as he went, bats flying into his face, shrieking as he passed by, interrupting their slumber. A large bump sent him flying forward faster, and the bottom was shortly in view. There was a fleeting moment of "Oh shi-" when it became apparent there was a bit at the bottom of this slide. There was no escape, no room to spread wings nor time even if there was. Sheridan hit the ground, causing a rumble to alert the two ghouls, who were relatively close by.

Perhaps he should have gone along with Rain's "B for Brains" after all...

It seemed that just as she was getting into the ride, it was over. She landed on the ground with a soft thud, her butt cushioning most of the impact. She quickly stood up and glanced around. What fun that had been! "I want to go again," she clapped just as the necromancer made her landing. "I can't believe how much FUN that was!" It was a great start to what she was sure would be a great adventure!

Her happy bubble was burst from a sound that came nearby. Was that the boil? He certainly didn't come down the slide they had so it must be him. She waited a moment before cautiously making her way over to him. As she neared him, she gave him a quick look over. He didn't look too banged up but then again, she wasn't the best judge when it came to wounds, was she?

"You look okay," she stated, taking this moment to look around. So far, so good, she thought, giving her messenger bag an instinctive pat. She turned back towards the boil and wondered if she should offer him a hand. Some boils got offended at such things and really, he did look okay.

"I wonder what's nearby," she mumbled. There was a door nearby that seemed the best place to go and that's just where she headed.

You and your group manage to find your way into what you assume must be the basement. It's dank, dirty, and dimly lit. To make matters worse, the door behind you just slammed shut... and did it just lock itself from the otherside? Laughter echos off the walls, and you have a feeling like the ceiling is slowly getting closer to you. The soft, grinding sound that teases your ears does not help with that feeling either.

Two candles flicker at the other end of the area, causing your eye to draw towards a small, round topped table. As you approach, you realize that the bulk of the table appears to be made out of bone. Large bones actually. However, on top of the table is carved a small puzzle.

Suddenly the candles flicker high and a door appears. A green light emanates from under it. Perhaps it's your way out? You certainly hope so as a bit of rock bounces off your nose.

((Rain is entering))

Now this was her kind of place. It reminded her a lot of her bedroom back at the school. How she longed to curl up in that rickety old bed and its moth devoured covers. She didn't sleep like most students, instead she went into a sort of trance, but it was nice. She liked the quiet sometimes. When it seemed as if she and the world around her was dead.

What she didn't like was that the door locked behind her. She tugged and pulled at it with all her might but to no avail. It simply would not budge. She swore she could hear something or perhaps some things laughing. Did they find her funny? Rain Rottingham was no joke!

"I am not funny," she stated, placing her hands on her hip. "I made sure that my mom and dad did not put a funny bone in my body," she added, obviously lying. Having fun was something important to the ghoul but she didn't like to be the one laughed at. It made her feel.. sad? She wasn't sure but it wasn't a good feeling at all. No sirree.

Curiosity ended up getting the best of her and laughter or not, she made her way over to the table. A bone table? Wow, how could she get this back to her room? It was the prettiest table she had ever seen! She stopped briefly to run her hands over the surface of the bones, admiring them. The puzzle on the table was interesting too and she was in the process of looking at it when a rock hit her square in the face.

There was a door! Surely the puzzle was the key? Like a mystery! A mystery that needed solving! This adventure was getting better and better! She clapped her hands together and grinned excitedly before bending over to get a good look at the puzzle. She wasn't the brightest bulb in the box so this almost made her as nervous as she was excited.

Ow!

Sheridan growled, an angry twitch of his tail as he stood to his feet. Well this trip was already off to a great start, not that he would have expected anything different. Hmph!

He paused a moment, dusting himself off before approaching his teammates. He might have spoken to them, but whatever words he had were lost in an instant. What the jack?

The dragon did not like the sound of that, did not like it at all! There was an ominous feeling growing, a feeling that they had all just walked into a trap.

His eyes narrowed in the darkness, searching the room for any clues, any hints of another way out. Was that a table? A puzzle? Hmm... Immediately his mind raced, work to find the solution. It seemed simple enough, place this piece here, that one there...

Oh jack, something told him they needed to HURRY!

"I suggest we make haste."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 13, 2011 2:59 pm

Rain smiled when Sheridan joined her at the puzzle table. She hadn't been making good progress with the puzzle at all. In fact, she was sure it was completely wrong:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

What was that saying? Four ears were better than one? No.. that wasn't it. Eyes, arms, mouths, boobs, heads. That's it! Two heads were better than one! She was sure he was loads smarter than her too!. She wiped all the pieces back off the board and let him take the lead.

"I'm glad you're okay," she whispered not wanting to distract him too much. He was right, they needed to hurry. She did not like this laughing room at all.

She peered at the puzzle intently but left it for the boil to figure out. She was sure if she helped him, she'd just mess it up again. Puzzles were not her forte. Heck, anything that required logical thinking wasn't something she was good at. She pretty much relied on sheer dumb luck. She was sure he and Circe would be able to figure it out so she opened up her messenger bag and grabbed her zombie notebook and crayons. Drawing always helped her relax.

Sheridan raised a brow, a quizzical glance at the zombie ghoul. What was she doing? Nevermind, he wasn't sure he wanted to know, and he had a puzzle to focus on (least they all die a horrible death).

He was already placing pieces, setting each in its appropriate spot, his tail ever in motion, twitching with his thoughts. Despite the distractions in the room, that infernal laughter, the falling rocks, his own sense of impending doom, the puzzle was solved in a few short moments.

A deep breath, he paused a moment, a silent prayer as he set the last piece in the puzzle. Please let this open the door and send them falling through the floor...or send the roof falling on their heads...

Why was he being so pessimistic? That wasn't like him. Oh right...he had been here before...

Rain quickly pocketed her notebook and crayons and stood back up to peer at the finished puzzle. "I knew you could do it!," she beamed, giving him a rather hard pat on the back. Of course, she wasn't sure if he had it correct, but it certainly looked like it made sense, a lot more than hers had!

"Oh, before I forget, would you like a pumpkin pill to hold on to?" She opened her bag to show him the pills nestled at the bottom among a few dead maggots and more dirt than any bag should have.

RESULTS

"NOOOOOOOOOOO!" a voice cried as the last tile was placed onto the puzzle board. It sounded so pitiful, lost and it sounded like claws on a chalkboard. Suddenly, the table that held the puzzle began to shake. The ceiling (which seemed suspiciously closer now than when you had entered.... yes definitely closer) began to creak. A few more loose stones fell from above, and the flickering candles seemed to be blown out by some invisible force.

The rumbling and creaking becomes louder and you're quick to realize that the ceiling is about to drop you like a fly under a rolled up newspaper. Suddenly the green light from beneath the door seems to penetrate you attention's grasp.

The despondent voice howl's with rage in the background, your ears pained by the sound.

As luck would have it though, the light beneath the door is brighter now, and it swings open. Escape is at hand!
