Quote: Character Name: Inoue Seiji Minis Account Name: Beejoux Year, Race - Subspecie: Y2, Ghost -Jikininki Natural Ability/Abilities: Garbage disposal-Jikininki eat corpses, or just about anything really, and it doesn't much effect them unless it's fear laced. Rot-He's also got control of the rot on his arm and can make the claws a little longer/sharper, or get rid of them completely. (Subject to change, pending approval.) Quote: Character Name: Junko Minis Account Name: Eight Year, Race - Subspecie: Y2, Monster - Futakuchi-Onna Natural Ability/Abilities: Living hair: She has control over Junko's hair. Junko's hair is slightly stronger than normal hair, as it needs to be able to be used to grab and pick up things; She uses Junko's hair as an array of arms. These arms can pick up small objects and grab onto things, and in a pinch they can pull people closer or grab something to keep Junko from falling or something stupid. It's very serpent-like in appearance. However while it's stronger than normal hair, can move on its own, can grab things, pick things up, hold things in place...it's still just hair. It can be cut and it can be torn, heck it can even be burned. And pulling on it or handling something heavy will pull on the hair itself, because it's attached to her scalp you know, and actually hurt Junko. Please be careful! Quote: Character Name: Aurian Minis Account Name: kalindara Year, Race - Subspecies: Y1, Reaper - Shadow Person Natural Ability/Abilities: Shadow Form - As a Shadow Being, Aurian can take shadow form. This turns her into a two-dimensional shadow. The shadow's movement is very quick and disjointed, or "jiggly", in the sense that they first may move slowly like a fluid, then rapidly "hop" to another part of a witness' surroundings. It is natural instinct in shadow form to avoid direct gaze, so the shadow "hops" to try and remain on the edge of peoples' vision. Shadow Beings can hide in other shadows while in this form, including moving 'into' walls or objects in shadow. Quote: Character Name: Mai Minis Account Name: Paperghost Year, Race - Subspecie: Y1, Ghost - Wisp Natural Ability/Abilities: All the usual ghost abilities: floats a bit, minor intagibility, etc. Summon Wisps: Mai is able to summon a small number of hitodama to her side. They shed faint amounts of blue light and their flames are refreshingly cool to the touch. Natural form: Her natural form is that of a wisp. Quote: Character Name: Vaith Minis Account Name: Random artist Year, Race - Subspecie: Year 1, Reaper - Noise dragon! Natural Ability/Abilities: Natural Ability: His natural ability is to keep his noise familiar summoned at all times, as an extension of his magic, by his side. FEAR: He uses noise magic to create "tails" or "claws" to attack from the various noise markings that adorn his clothes. These weapons resemble a dragon noise, exactly like his familiar, wearing it like an extension of his body. (i.e, claws would be on hands like wolverine.) On entering the first room, you find yourself on a small platform. There's barely space for all five of you; if you're not careful, you could fall off. Lying on the ground are five pairs of scissors- one for each group member, presumably. There is a similar platform on the other side, but no doors are in sight- the one behind you, too, has closed off. Lining the opposite wall are five framed paintings- you can't make out what they are, though, being so far away. The other two walls are lined with floating lights- you're not too sure what they are.. Looking up, the ceiling is dark, and fuzzy. It seems to be covered with spiders, dangling down from threads of silk- it looks like you'll have to crawl, if you don't want to be bitten. The rest of the floor is gone, and in its place is is a huge spiderweb. The web's shape isn't hard to make out, even in the dim light, but it's not your typical spider web. What's so special? Well- You find your attention focused on a strange four by four grid filled with puzzles. There is a strange sort of something to it, a compulsion if you will. It's as if the puzzle wishes to be solved... By cutting shapes into the web, using the scissors provided, you might be able to solve the puzzle, though it is still unclear where that will get you...

Vaith struggled to make himself as compact as possible-- which meant standing stiffly in a corner. His frown only dependence upon the realization of spiders. Pesky-- They dropped onto you and bit you and that didn't include venomous ones. They didnt need to be venomous to leave unwanted aftereffects. It didn't take much to realize that Vaith had an unfortunate experience with these creatures at an earlier point of his life.
It would have been more useful to use those scissors to cut the spiders off the ceiling instead. Actually, wait, there were scissors? The reaper might have registered that rather late, crouching low with his hands above his head. As if his fingers were going to provide an adequate shield .. Not really. More scowls. His teeth grinded against each other, his expression could only be described as one of utter disgust.
Utter. Disgust.
"Does anyone else feel like we're going to be having a few extra guests on us?" Vaith grumbled, his hand cautiously reaching for a pair of scissors, nearly toppling over in the process.
"Puzzles. Fun." The dry tone he used was along the icy frigid extremes, indicating that the reaper wasn't happy with the room that the haunted house had decided to throw them into. Vaith seemed to be abnormally preoccupied with brushing his hair, as if to make sure several critters hadn't made their way in. The way he kept looking around the room, head turning from left to right, down and up .. Well, it was mighty suspicious. Cool guy bravado, fail. A "C" for effort though.
((I have the puzzle solved @ this image I WAS UP LATE OK, but I thought it might be a bit presumptuous to post it right off the bat so I was wondering if you guys wanted to rp it out? <3)

Small room was very small.. Dark eyes narrowed as the ghost walked into the room at a low crouch, automatically staring up at the writhing ceiling and it's hundreds of multi legged inhabitants. No, Seiji wasn't phobic of spiders, but he didn't really want to be covered in them either. "Yes," he answered Vaith, grumbling under his breath as he crept along the small platform to claim a spot near the edge so there would be plenty of room for the ghouls. He snagged the remaining for pairs of scissors and handed three of them to each of the ghouls as they entered behind him. Attention focused down at the web beneath them and the puzzle they were clearly supposed to be solving. By the looks of it seemed to be a simple form of a sudoku, and that was something Seiji was actually familiar with. "Hey Junko, recognize our task?" If he did, then she should as well. Vaith's twitchy behavior, while subtle, was hard not to notice, and after a moment or two Seiji glanced up from where he was crouching. "You ok, bro?" Vaguely he wondered if those weakness Red had mentioned included phobias. By the looks of it the reaper boil didn't much like the spiders dangling above them. ((Also solved the puzzle! Bam. Do like sudoku. 8D))

Junko followed Vaith and Seiji into the house and nearly fell off the platform in her excitement, letting go of Mai so she wouldn't drag her down if worst came to worst, and instead clinging tightly to Seiji. "EEP!" She squeaked and looked down to see the platform had a very definite end. The walls were pretty though! She suddenly wanted to invest in some floating lights in her own room. It'd be nice!
...Wait..what was that sound? It sounded like skittering. Junko held a hand out for the scissors as Seiji offered them to her and the others, but her eyes were up on the ceiling and its...thousands of spiders. Her eyes widened. Unholy Jack! "Wow..that's...that's a lot of spiders." She seemed to shrink down a little away from them. Junko didn't particularly dislike spiders, nor was she scared of them, but she'd rather not risk having so many crawling on her. "I dunno...no offense to Lizzy but I don't want little spiders crawling all over me." She shuddered a bit and held the scissors with the blades pointed away from her, humming as Seiji called her name and asked her about their task.
What a strange web these spiders weaved. Oh! She knew this game! "I'm not very good but..this should be fun!" She sounded much more enthusiastic about this than Vaith did. But she did notice he was acting stranger now. Junko had been crawling on the large web toward the puzzle when Seiji asked him a question, looking over her shoulder at the two boils.
"..Do you not like spiders, Vaith?" Or maybe the dark? Or maybe puzzles? It could be any of those things. Junko frowned, looking up at the spiders on the ceiling. "Just...stay low and pretend they're not there! Focus on the puzzle, yeah?"

Aurian chased after the others, the last to enter the house (she'd been distracted by the press of bodies and was having happy visions of just taking shadow form to escape, okay? she just really didn't like crowds, but a group of five was manageable). The house was actually rather nice, she thought. Dark and shadowy, pretty cobwebs all over the place.
"This is nicer than prom," she decided, approaching the others while still staring at the ceiling and cornices of the room. "They should have decorated like this."
Coming up beside Vaith, she grimaced at the object that had everyone's attention. "More puzzles." Aurian's tone was flat. Just wonderful. And here she'd thought she was done with puzzles after the horrible island mission. She sighed. At least there was help here, she didn't have to try and do these things on her own.
The conversation that Vaith and Junko were having was confusing. They didn't like... spiders? Aurian stared up at the webs. Sure enough, there were darker dots in some of them, of varying sizes. "You guys don't like spiders? Are they bad?" she asked, head tilted to one side.
Aurian was pretty sure she was going to be useless at this puzzle. It looked fun and all, but she had an inkling that it would take her a long time to solve it. So instead she summoned her scythe to her hand. (It kind of ruined the whole ninja vibe, sorry Mai :< )
"Don't worry. I'll protect you guys," she beamed. While she didn't have anything against spiders, if the others did, then she'd slice any that thought to drop down on them. Look, she could be useful, really!

"I don't mind spiders! One of my best friends is a black widow spider demon. Spiders are really neat!" Junko was being honest! She didn't mind the spiders, just the feeling of having them crawling on her was not pleasant to the ghoul.
Junko was cutting her first shape into the puzzle when she heard the reaper announce she would protect them. "Hmmm?" She looked up to see what Kalindara was doing, and the sight of the scythe glimmering in the dull light of the room had glowing green eyes widening and hair writhing unhappily. Th..th...that was a huge scythe. Her hands trembled and she knicked her own finger with the scissors, swallowing hard and beginning to slowly back away across the web away from the blade.
B..big scythe. Big scythe. Big scythe near her. B-bad. Bad scythe. Scythes were bad. Blades were bad.
"O..okay. Thank you, Aurian.." Junko stuck her cut finger in her mouth a moment and started to cut out another shape. She knew how this puzzle worked, and it was a small sixteen-square one. It wouldn't be terribly difficult.

"I'm good. I'm completely good." Vaith muttered, seeming a little distracted. His feet huddled closer as he knelt to cut out pieces of the spider web, shoulders hunched. "You're talking about lizzy right? Spider demon? She's cool. It's not so much the spiders that bother me. It's what they do that makes me.."
Made him what? Vaith never finished the sentence. The scythe, within close proximity, the sound of metal slicing through air with it's sudden appearance didn't frighten him, like Junko did. It did catch the better part of his interest. "Damn' that's cool. " Vaith whistled with admiration, the presence of hundreds of little critters around them temporarily forgotten. The scissors in his hand worked, unconsciously to cut a pumpkin as Vaith admired the ghoul's weapon, the metal partially shielding light from the other side of the room casted a half-shadow against all of their features. Vaith reached a hand out curiously, his fingers running against a flat side of the blade..
There was just something about scythes. Not that he preferred to wield one but he couldn't hide his envy, hand in hand with admiration for those who did. It was a rather difficult weapon to wield, the range of target .. Not the best short-distance weapon there was.
He turned his head curiously, Junko's stammering as obvious as Vaith's attempts at discretion. He gestured to Junko's cut finger, red eyes glowing abnormally bright within the darkness.
"Junko, what happened? Did Aurian's scythe cut you?"

exclaim THE ROOM BEGINS TO SHAKE
As the group begins to cut holes in the web, there is a sudden piercing scream, echoing throughout the room. A gust of strong wind blows past, causing the whole web to shake- and then spiders begin dropping down.
emotion_awesome Randomise a number from 1-3 in your next post to determine how much damage is taken from spider attack! You're free to decide /what/ they do to you.
In addition, the strong wind seems to have blown out all the lights. The room is now in complete darkness. You cannot see well enough to cut shapes into the web.. for that matter, you don't know where to cut shapes! It will also be easier to accidentally hurt somebody...

Ew.
Mai immediately swished away a few low hanging spiders as she was pulled into the room behind Junko. She wasn't particularly afraid of the little arachnids, but she hated that creepy crawly feeling she got when they skittered across her skin or got into her hair.
But. Oh. Ok. The spiders were everywhere, dangling ominously from the ceiling. The ghost had to kneel on the floor to escape the bulk of them, but still she got the feeling that they were going to be unavoidable. She crawled over to the edge of the platform to take a look around, stopping momentarily on her way to carefully pick a spider or two off Vaith's shoulders and hair.
She immediately noticed the giant spiderweb stretching across to the other side of the room where the floor should have been. Oddly, the puzzle within the web was calling to the ghost, just asking to be solved. Mai's eyes got wide as she watched Junko crawl onto the webbing with a pair of scissors. "Is that.. safe?" she said dubiously as she reached a hand out to pull experimentally at one of the webs great silky strands. Junko was already cutting away at the puzzle so she assumed it must be ok. Right?
But just as she was starting to think things were OK for the moment, a scream shattered her thoughts and the room was blanketed in darkness. Right away she felt a shower of spiders and she did her best to quickly sweep them off of her. She could feel some extreme discomfort on her arms from biting and scurrying, but thankfully she seemed to be escaping any severe damage.
The darkness was overwhelming, and Mai was instantly concerned about her teammates condition. She concentrated for a moment, trying to summon her wisps in order to shed some light. She managed to call a few, and they glowed dimly in the pitch black.
"I-is everyone alright?" she called cautiously as she continued to try and sweep the spiders off herself.

"Aurian? No...no. It's...no." Aurian hadn't done anything. Not to her. Not Aurian. It had been someone else but...scythes. Junko swallowed hard and gave them as assuring a smile as she could. "I'll be fine. Promise. See? Stopped...stopped bleeding...I'm fine, really." Scythes. Scythes. Why did it have to be scythes?
Junko resumed cutting, doing her best to concentrate on that until she heard the scream. Huh?! Was it one of her teammates?! Her head whipped up to make sure they were all okay only for the gust of wind to send her toppling over. She rolled across the shaking spiderweb, being thoroughly disoriented by the combination of surprise, tossing about and suddenly SPIDERS! She cried out and tossed her scissors, hearing them hit something as she scrambled to get them off her. Off! Off! Oh jack! Oh jack they were biting! Ow! Ow! Owwwwwwww! AH THEY WERE IN HER HAIR NOOOOOOO!
The ghoul got up to stand as soon as the web stopped moving enough for her to stand, whining and smacking as many spiders off her body as she could. She may have even crushed a few and killed them. Oops. She was trying to get back to her group and away from the web, stepping in a hole she had just cut and tripping forward. There was an audible SMACK! as her head met the edge of the platform. "O...owwwww.." She groaned, glowing green eyes opening slowly and being more obvious in the pitch darkness of the room. She couldn't see, but at least her eyes could...be seen? The soft blue glow of Mai's wisps was certainly helpful.
"I...I think I'm okay..ow...owowowOW! Get OFF!" She whined, smacking another few spiders away.
"Now what..?"

"Oh. The island. Yeah, those were--"
The scream-- It startled Vaith out of his wits (how was it possible for someone's pitch to get extraordinarily clear?!) causing the reaper to nearly drop his scissors, fumbling for the flimsy metal object. As his hand lowered to catch it, he found his hand dipped in an especially large pile of black spiders that had culminated into one area from their falls. The black spiders surrounded the metal, ambushing, one finger dipped into one of the two circular handles of the scissors, barely holding on.
He tried to shake the scissors free of spiders, the sharpened ends opening and nearly nicking the reaper in the wrist. Immediately, the spiders ambushed his arm .. Vaith's instincts took over, the noise markings depleting from his clothing to gather on his arm, physically taking hold to crush spiders along the way. By the time his arm came back up, with scissors in hand, several bruise and bites adorned his muscular arm.
It was a shame it wasn't his other arm, with a little more protection with the netting and gauntlet. He had been pretty silent the whole way through but the freshness of the bites had him wincing, grimacing with a grunt when he pulled his arm back up. His slightly swollen arm brushed past someone's-- Junko was quite a distance away from the sctyhe so it wasn't Junko. It was either Mai who had been so kindly plucking the unseen spiders off Vaith or Aurian, when he had touched her scythe in fascination. (Where was Seiji? Vaith couldnt see anything in the dark!)

Protect? The ghost boil glanced up from the shapes he was cutting, only to have dark eyes widen as the arch of silver metal rose above them. Aurian's scythe, and it was impressive, but he chanced a quick glance down to Junko to see her reaction. Predictably it seemed somewhat panic stricken, and what was worse she'd seemed to have nicked her finger upon noticing it. Frowning he crawled out to where she was kneeling on the web, curling an arm around her shoulders as he took her hand, inspecting the small wound. "You ok?"
Vaith's question pulled the ghost boil's attention up and he gave a helpless sort of shrug. "We got attacked by a scythe wielding foe on the island, and they seemed especially keen on hurting Junko."
He might have added more, but the sudden shaking jolt of the room cut off any and all thoughts. He curled his arms a little more tightly around the ghoul, but the rain of creepy crawling spiders had even Seiji jerking with the mad desire to ride himself of their presence. "Not cool!" To make matters worst the lights flickered out during all the chaos, bathing the group in near pitch darkness. The black permeated only by the eery glow of some of their eyes. His own, along with Junko and and Mai's. Red, green and blue respectively.
Something crawled along the back of his neck beneath the wrap of fabric that served as a scarf, and he swatted at it instinctively, wincing when something sharp pricked against his skin. The damn thing have bit him! It stung, but a familiar sounding moan of pain jerked his attention from himself and back towards the platform. The boil crawling across the web as fast as he could, palms out before him to feel his way along, until he touched what felt like a leg. A very lovely leg. "Junko," asking what happened seemed a redundant idea all things considered, he'd heard the smack of her head against the platform, and instead he merely helped the poor ghoul up.
A soft, blue light cast heavy shadows around them all, and Seiji blinked up to stare at one of Mai's wisps. "That is really handy." And with that diffuse light Seiji was able to see Junko well enough to touch fingers gingerly to the side of her head as if feeling for a bump.

"I didn't cut anyone!" Aurian stared at Junko, mouth dropping open. She hadn't swung the scythe and the blades hadn't been near anyone when she summoned it. Still, she quickly forced it to disappear again. Better that she didn't let people think she might hurt them.
She pouted a little - it seemed only Vaith thought her weapon was cool, which, yes, he needed a hug later for that, but was likely only because he was also a Reaper. But then Seiji spoke up. "Oh. Yes, I met that Reaper, too," Aurian stared down at her feet. The island had made her feel kind of bad to be a Reaper. And it seemed like others still thought badly of the race for the same reasons. Aurian couldn't help what some other crazy Reaper had done. She made a wounded noise in her throat, like a sad Puggle.
This was, of course, when the lights suddenly went out and things began dropping down into Aurian's hair. She shrieked, more startled than scared, and began batting at her hair and shoulders. And then her arms. Oh god, tiny legs everywhere! Something sharp pierced her skin and Aurian yelped. Okay, now she understood why the others didn't like spiders.
In the darkness, Aurian's red eyes glowed brightly, though they didn't cast any light onto the rest of her features - just twin red orbs in the darkness. "Is everyone okay?" she asked shakily, after the spiders seemed to be gone.

Vaith's brush against Mai's arm caught her attention and she turned toward him to make sure he was ok. She'd heard a lot of scuffling and distress and she wasn't sure who, if anyone, might be injured. "I'm alright" she said in answer to Aurian's question as she drew close to Vaith. The ghost carefully ran her cool fingertips across his swollen arm to inspect it. Didn't seem too bad.. but she wasn't a medic or anything, so she had no idea. She peered around to see if everyone else was ok and so far it just seemed like a few bumps and bites here and there.
Although they'd avoided any major disasters, Mai was a bit shaken. She wasn't sure what she needed to do, so she concentrated on making sure her wisps stayed near by. They were the only source of light in the room at that moment besides the softly glowing eyes of some of the students.
"What now?" she asked, feeling a bit useless.
