You were awakened from a sleep. But for how long? Where are you? Wait, that question was silly: you are home. You don't know how long you were asleep, or even if you were asleep at all. In fact -- wait! Did you hear something? You’re pretty sure it was a someone who said something, but you’re not entirely sure what it was or whether it was important in the first place.
Maybe it was, maybe it wasn- oh! Look! A plumber, let’s chase him!

WHAT’S THIS ABOUT THEN? You are now a Boo. You are not a ghost; you are a Boo. Yes, the same sort of creature from those Super Mario games. You are the Haunted House’s Fear: the Haunted House created you. All you have is your appearance, personality, and name. And you were just created a little over an hour ago. You do not have any history. You simply exist as you are: a puffy, floating ball of ectoplasm that looks like a marshmallow. You can identify most objects and know what they are and how to use them, however again you have no history with anything. It doesn’t strike you as being odd either. You also do not know anything specific about the haunted house. To you, it's home. How many rooms does it contain? No idea. Is there treasure? No clue. ...but this doesn't mean you can't lie to those that ask questions, of course. What’s really odd are the things that are invading your home. They walk on two legs: there’s a group that identifies themselves as coming from “Halloween,” and there is a group that calls themselves “Hunters.” So what’re you going to do about it? It’s... really your call, actually. You can be pro-Halloween, pro-Hunter, or pro- get out of my house or even pro- I don’t really care. As a Boo though, you are pretty limited to what you can do. You may not go posting willy-nilly in threads for one! That is, unless, it is a Boo Room.

BOO ROOMS Boo Rooms are threads created by GMs (or “Game Moderators”) just for Boos and only Boos like you to play in! Boo Rooms can be anything from a game to an RP, to an OOC information thread. You’re reading one of those threads right now! Every Boo Room is different. Some will involve battling, some will involve role-play, others will be OOC. The most important Boo Room (aside from this one) is the Boo Summoning Thread. The Boo Summoning Thread is where an enrolled student posts requesting a boo to battle. Please pay attention to the time zone and time the student requests! If you’re online during that time, quote the student and offer yourself up for battling. Wait for the other person to quote you inviting you into their group thread. Once that happens, you may crash their RP and battle it out! Want to learn more? Check out the Summoning Thread! Boo Rooms are a good source of prizes from minipets to silver seeds. Some rooms may even offer the chance for a premade character! If you are interested in earning a character for TiH, it is a good idea to participate as much as possible.

HOW DO I FIGHT? Have you read through our shop’s Battle Guide? If not, please do. Here is a quick run-down of Boo stats:
All Boos have 10 HP.
All Boos roll 2d8 (two 8-sided dice) to battle.
Subtract 6 from the total of your roll to get your damage.
Boos do NOT have a Fear. A "Fear" is this shop's word for Special Attack/Limit Break/Overdrive. If you would like to know more, please check out that thread here.
If a character uses a special attack against you and you're not sure what it does, ask! biggrin Some special attacks do damage, others can heal, some can poison, etc. If you're ever confused or feel lost, please do NOT hesitate to ask for help from the person you are battling, or contact a GM!
Boos are NOT ghosts. They are, however, made out of Fear. Hunters can charge their weapons off of Boos.
Yes, your Boo will most likely die. But that’s okay! Every battle you enter will make you eligible for a Halloween Minipet! Please click here for that thread. IF YOUR BOO DIES IT IT NOT PERMANENT! You simply respawn here in the Boo Room Game Lounge. So live, die, and live again as many times as you like! Dying will not restrict your chances of winning a prize. When battling, do NOT focus on who lives and who dies. Focus on the battle, the experience, the moment. And the sweet prize everyone gets at the end of it! A Boo may participate in a battle once every 24 hours. If you are RPing a Boo and an enrolled character in the meta, you may NOT have that Boo attack the party your character is in.

Special Roles A specialized role is what the name implies: it is an opportunity to take on a specialized role-playing or battle role to interact with the enrolled students. What needs to be done in a role, however, varies from role to role. Some roles will be repeated and shared between users. This is not a competition to see who can do a better job at what role. Taking on a specialized role does NOT guarantee a prize. It is simply an extra "bonus" thing to do, and a way to earn minipets as a "thank you" for taking on the role. Before special roles are assigned, a GM will PM you with information about the role: it is your choice whether or not you wish to play it. If you accept a role and do nothing, however, do not be surprised if the role is revoked and given to someone else! If you are given a role, we request that you please do not share information about the role with anyone else. Some roles may have impact on the meta-plot; some may not. The less everyone else knows about a role, the better.

About Battle Roles Occasionally, a group of Halloween or Hunters will encounter a being within the Haunted House that is stronger than the average Boo. These beings are known simply as Bosses. Bosses come with higher HP, an attack that can hit everyone, and sometimes they may have something... special to them. Oh, and did we forget to mention that these role will be played by lucky Boos? Bosses can only be RPed in the thread they are asked to play the role in. Once the battle is over, the boss role is surrendered. This means that Bosses will NOT appear in the Hub, only in the group thread the GM calls for it. Boss roles can be played by multiple people at the same time, so long as the bosses are in different threads. How to Fight as a Boss: There are two types of boss battles: Traditional and Event. Both bosses are run the same way and have the same abilities, however GMs will be taking on the Event Boss roles. For now, this thread will discuss only how Traditional boss battles go: Boss HP: Ranges anywhere from 50-100, depending difficulty. The GMs will tell you what your HP is; you may not change this. To Attack: Bosses have two possible attacks: xxxxx Single Target: Pick someone and roll 2d8. Always announce your target in your post! Please be a good sport and do not attack the person with the lowest HP! Hit Points are strictly OOC information; do not use this knowledge IC. xxxxx Everybody at Once: Roll 2d6. This attack will hit everybody present in the room. You can only use this attack once every two turns. Quote: Say you're fighting against two students. > Your turn, target Player A and roll 2d8. Player A's turn, attacks you. Player B's turn, attacks you. > Your turn, target Player A again and roll 2d8. Player A's turn, attacks you. Player B's turn, attacks you. > Your turn, can attack all and roll 2d6! No matter which method you pick, you need to add your dice totals then subtract -6 from the result. This -6 accounts for the following:
Your accuracy. Not everyone can hit 100% all the time, now can they?
The power of your hit. Even if you manage to hit someone, there's always a chance that the hit won't land perfectly. Think of low damage amounts as near-misses and grazes.
Your opponent's ability to dodge/block. If you miss it's not always because you're that far off your mark -- your opponent simply dodged or blocked.
In Action:Single Target: I roll 2d8 and get 2, 1. 2+1 = 3-6 = -3 damage. I missed! Any number at or below 0 is a miss. I roll 2d8 and get 3, 7, 4. 3+7 = 10-6 = 4 damage. Always state your target!AoE/Area of Effect/To Hit Everyone: I roll 2d6 and get 2, 3. 2+3 = 5 - 6 = -1 damage. I missed! I roll 2d6 and get 6, 3. 6+3 = 9 - 6 = 3 damage for everyone. Please describe your mob’s Personality: Polka is a rather friendly and affectionate ghost. Unlike other ghosts, Polka doesn't try to be scary. In fact, he doesn't even need to be. It's because he's so overly cheerful, silly, and so far from being scary that makes him the most frightening. His friendliness can become a harmful concoction that scares away people who don't expect it, especially when he chases after them begging for a hug or a small kiss on the cheek. He has a tendency to speak like a small child and often refers to others as either 'Mistah' or 'Missez'. Polka's exuberant laughter can often be heard from quite far away, so when you hear it getting closer and louder, you know when it's time to book it or face the wrath of Polka's uber clinging hugs.
What do you look like? His appearance matches well with his personality and his pattern definitely captures his namesake. Please describe your mob’s Personality: Serpentia is rather curious, yet a bit cynical. She's always getting into other people's things, and tends to "borrow" anything that catches her fancy, keep it for a while, and then abandon it in some odd place where nobody would think to look for it - video games shoved into/on top of/under random kitchen appliances, for instance. Despite her mischievous and kleptomaniac tendencies, she does not believe in harassing others directly, and tends to frown upon those of her fellow "boo-ghosts" who do so - often contributing to the chaos herself by becoming overzealous in her efforts to drive off such malicious marauders and making a bigger mess of things!
What do you look like? this <--has no accessories, simply turned green, removed excessive eyebrowness and made a quirked-eyebrows look, turned eyes yellow and put rudimentary daubed-in pupils.
