Lilah is a perfectly ordinary Weyrbrat, with no idea who her parents are, and perfectly fine with that. Her life so far has been perfectly ordinary as well, though largely devoid of friends. Her personality doesn't exactly draw people to her. She's spent most of her life observing rather than participating, content to remind everyone of the not-so-bright side of life when they bother to listen, or if they get stuck with her during chores - especially then. If you can hurt yourself doing a particular chore, Lilah probably has by now, and if she hasn't, it's only a matter of time. If you can mess it up, she definitely has in some way or another, and she'll probably tell you all about it. Hey, maybe you won't make the same mistake. But then again, maybe you will.
Post-Impression:
Lilah and Rhodonth survived Weyrlinghood (much to Lilah's surprise), but shortly after their graduation came the demonstration of the Dragonlights, and the overthrow of Benden and Malvren. They betweened away from the demonstration to safety, but did not join join their clutchmates who went to Trine. As far as Lilah was concerned, Benden was home, no matter who ruled it, and so they returned to it and joined the Wherholds. Since then, they have lived an unremarkable existence at the bottom of the ladder, but that doesn't bother them. So what if they're at the bottom? They always were.
Lilah has no interest in politics, and is largely indifferent to everything that's happened. It sucks that people died, it sucks that they still do sometimes, but while she avoids participating as much as possible, she makes no objections to the Wherholders' methods. They'll do what they do, and there's no point in trying to change anything. All that matters to Lilah is staying in Benden, and surviving there...and as far as that goes, she'll do whatever it takes.
Description:
Lilah is relatively short, about 5'2", and about as plump as a busy rider can reasonably be. She has blue eyes and shoulder-length medium-brown hair, and a round face that could be pleasant if she actually decided to smile.
Personality:
Lilah's one of those people who walks around with their own personal raincloud to keep them company, and not much else. She is a complete and total pessimist who spends most of her time brooding over what can go wrong where - and it will go wrong, of that she is absolutely sure. The worst is always a possiblity, and she's not going to ignore that; quite the opposite, she is hyper-aware of the potential for failure, especially her own. She goes into everything she does with the thought that she's not going to succeed, or at the very best scrape by. Over time, it's turned into a self-fulfilling prophecy: there's no point in trying hard if you're just going to fail anyway, so she doesn't, and consequently fails. She was, in fact, quite convinced that she would never Impress a dragon, and was probably more likely to get mauled and die. It does happen, after all, and it would have been just her luck to be the one it happened to. Still, if she hadn't Impressed Rhodonth, she'd have been a Candidate until she aged out - what else could she do? She certainly couldn't take up a craft!
A peculiar result of her pessimism, Lilah is nearly unshakable. She's spent so much time thinking about how things can go wrong and believing they will that when they do, she's ready for it! She accepts bad situations quite calmly and without fear. She's also completely unconcerned with appearances or with what other people think of her...since they probably don't like her, and trying to change that is, of course, pointless. She might be a failure, but at least she's an independent one. On the rare occasion that someone does like her, Lilah is a loyal friend, not that it will spare them any of her pessimism. If anything, they might be subject to more of it, since she actively cares about what happens to them. Of course, one of these days they'll probably find someone else to be friends with and she'll get left behind, but until then, she's got their back.
Lilah doesn't do a lot of small talk, and when she does pipe up, it's often to share her bleak outlook on whatever the current situation or subject is. It's not a conscious effort to bring people down, she just feels that they should be informed. Then they won't be surprised when things go south, and if they are, she can pull out the 'I told you so.' Aside from being right, one of the few things that makes her happy is food. It's hard for eating to go wrong, after all, unless you're a complete idiot and you choke, or the food's bad and you get sick. Still, food is almost always a good thing!
When it comes to energy level, she's below average, mostly by choice. She could keep up with a faster pace if she really needed to, but otherwise, her 'why bother?' attitude keeps her slow and steady instead. She has endurance in spades, however, and can weather almost anything the world throws at her (not that she won't complain about it). In her view, she doesn't have low self-esteem - she is, in fact, perfectly content with herself the way she is. It takes all kinds, and she accepts that her particular 'kind' is the pessimist/realist; you won't ever find her wishing she was anyone different.

Oh sure, things might be bad, in fact things probably are bad...but Rhodonth isn't one to let such a thing keep her down; in fact, when things are bad, that's exactly when love is needed the most, and Rhodonth is a very loving dragon, she truly genuinely cares...about everyone. As far as this dragon is concerned, love can cure all things, and given how many terrible things are likely to happen in the next couple of hours, it's probably best that we go ahead and make sure that everyone knows just how much we love them so they can deal with this future terrible event.
Rhodonth could probably be compared to one of those healers who automatically jumps to the worst possible conclusion for a problem...and then tells you that positive thinking will cure it. She has a tendency to make things out to be worse then they are: it doesn't just rain for Rhodonth, it pours and then turns into a moonsoon that will probably try to sweep everyone away! But it's alright, because no matter how bad things get, you'll always have her! She's somewhat of a contradictory beast in the overall scheme of things, a positive pessimist - she's pretty sure that everyone is going to be just fine in the long run and surely she and Hers will make it through (mostly because they have each other), but there will be many hurdles and pitfalls along the way. Sadly she's not always the best at dealing with these bad moments - other than showering a person or dragon with fits of panicked love, Rhodonth isn't always the best when it comes to keeping her head in stressful situations. Her doomsday imagination is prone to running off with her and making the situation worse long before she can sit down and figure out how to make it better.
She's a chatty green, mostly because if you don't take the time to say things when you have the chance, who knows if or when you'll ever get the chance again? This also means she's liable to go out and make friends with absolutely everyone she comes across in an attempt to make sure they all know that everything will be okay no matter what happens in the short term. Energetic but somewhat clumsy, one can't always tell if she's clumsy because she just lacks grace or if it's because she's so absolutely sure that she's going to fall off that ledge there that it actually happens - or perhaps it's because she's too busy rushing about trying to make sure that everyone knows the present situation is only temporary...oh yes, it sucks and she understands...but it will be okay in the end!
Why me? Misery loves company, or so the saying goes, and it's hard to imagine this little green picking anyone else but a fellow pessimist - who else is going to understand just how horrible things are going to be without telling her how wrong she is to think so? Neither Rhodonth nor Lilah is likely the type to go around spouting rainbows all the time - oh sure, Rhodonth will tell you she loves you, but she'll also make sure to tell you that the upcoming storm is going to flood your home at the same time, and they're both perfectly okay with that. Somebody's got to be the bearer of bad news, right? It might as well be them! Lilah's sure-headed way in times of trouble was also a draw for Rhodonth, who lacks and thusly needs that sort of grounding to keep her from going completely off the deep end when the forewarned bad things really do happen. Lilah will keep Rhodonth's fear of things getting even worse in check, just as Rhodonth's steadfast love and belief that things in the long run will be okay will keep Lilah from slipping into surefire depression as she grows older, as well as bolster her confidence that she might be able to do something sucsessfully - even if there are a few problems along the way. Yeah, things suck...but they have each other and they'll see it through.
Rhodonth might bring a bit more social interaction into Lilah's life than Lilah is comfortable with, and surely she'll have to speed up at least a little bit to keep up with her more energetic bondmate, but one could argue that Lilah needs a bit more of that in her life and at least she'll have one friend that she knows for a fact isn't going to find someone else and leave! On the flipside, Lilah's slow but steadfast manner when it comes to work might help curb a bit of that rushed clumsiness Rhodonth seems to suffer from and keep the little green from rushing around quite so much.
