This Zanpaktou is a basic-looking katana with nothing special marking it, unless you count the pink roses engraved on its hilt... It is an Earth-type Zanpaktou, using the power of Growth as its primary source of power.

A bit of a busy-body, to be honest.
In this case curiosity didn't just killed the cat, it killed a whole horde of elephants...
He is however, ferociously jealous of his Captian and will do anything to uphold her honor, often taking offense over the slightest things.
Otherwise, he is an outgoing, friendly character, if whimsical and old-fashioned, who dislikes displays of open violence and brutality, believing them to be 'animalistic' and 'distasteful'.
"After all," as he once said, "If we must kill someone, we may as well do them the honor of dispatching them as quickly and neatly as possible. There is absolutely no need for messiness...their death is, naturally, a release from their bad ways, not a revenge."

Katey is one of the few souls to have been born in Soul Society. He was born to the noble house of the Shihōin Clan.
He entered the Seireitei as a child to train in the Shinōreijutsuin (精神的な芸術アカデミー, Spiritual Arts Academy) when his obvious gifts as a healer became apparent when he was very young. As such he did not have much of a childhood, as his teachers drove the child prodigy for all his worth, most of all his father and grandfather where those who put Katey's nose to the grind-stone.
As a heir of the family's sacred duties, Katey often found his life tedious and even faded in the immense shadow of the duty that he must fulfill. From birth he has been trained to protect, and this he rigidly follows without any thought for his own safety. As such, he applied for Squad #3, as a sort of comprimise between him and his father.
However, it is probably this single-minded rearing and training that has managed to develop in him a certain childish selfishness which becomes apparent when someone doesn't show what he considers 'enough respect' to his beloved Captain, or if he sees anyone walking across the carefully manicured lawn in front of the #3 Squad's buildings, in both cases he runs close to having an apoplexy...

¤ He has a double ring on his right hand's little and ring fingers. In these he keeps a number of rare anti-poisons ready for disposal.

¤ He is also the keeper of Squad 3's shrine garden "For Those Lost" where he grows and jealous guards his many obscure and at times outrageously-named and behaving horticultural achievements...
¤ He also enjoys match-making and often presides over the only semi-official Seireitei match-making service: "The Shinigami Romance Service, For Those Who Find Themselves Inexplicably Alone..." where a dating service is run on the weekends from 6-10p.m.
The HQ for this non-profit organisation is found within the shed at the back of Katey's garden which he has fastidiously decorated and 'prettyed up' (mainly in pink frills...) just for this reason. Unfortunately, only four people can comfortably fit inside, beneath the gardening tools, but Katey is working on extensions and, possibly, a patio...
¤ A healer at heart, and not untalented, at that, Katey is also the author of the "Every Day First Aid" article that appears weekly in the "Shinigami Communication". His last article discussed the various uses of the common potato in resuscitation.

Nakigara Hime is an awful apparition of a half-decayed woman, with an eternal expression of pain and woe. She is less-than communicative, unlike her shinigami who really should learn when to shut up. She is usually seen wearing a wreath of wilted roses.
Spirit Relationship:
Even though a thorough pacifist, Katey seems to not only acknowledge his Hime, but to hold her in quite some respect. What she, in turn, thinks of him is more than anyone, Katey included, can guess. However, their common tie is their unwavering sense of duty and honor, especially towards those less fortunate.

Shikai Release Appearance:
In this release, Nakigara Hime shows a more deadly side of her nature. While Katey is distinctly a "no hands" individual, Nakigara Hime likes to get down and dirty, opting ever for the more brutal and merciless approach, which Katey is forever at odds with. Here, a purple light is the momentary effect which glows as writhing ribbons or vines around Katey before fading in a matter of moments.

Shikai Attacks:
1: Oujouno Hana (Flower of Submission)
By spinning the doubled Nakigara Hime in his hands, Katey charges at his opponent, slashing. Should any of his hits score, his opponent is never deeply wounded, but he then becomes open to submission due to a liquid the Zanpaktou secretes that is not unlike a truth syrum. While this does not impare the opponents fighting abilities, it allows Katey to "talk some sense into him".
This effect lasts for 4 posts.
2: Kageno Kyuui (Shadow of Peace)
In this attack Katey and Nakigara Hime keep in their opponents shadow at all times. Here they "convince" the opponent's shadow to help them fight, and the opponent finds that he isn now up against not only Katey, but himself.
This attack lasts 3 posts and can only be initiated if Katey can get behind the opponent's back.

1: Zou Pare-do (Elephant Parade)
This is a full-on charge from the elephant family. It is difficult to manouver, plus here the poor things can be easily spooked...however an over.confident opponent may him himself easily trampled, as the creatures pull a LOT of wind after them...

2: Toranku Kaze (Trunk Wind)
In this attack the elephants all blow their trunks at the opponent causing an near uncontrollable gust of wind. Katey dislikes using this attack as he has trouble controlling it and often ends up himself a target of this elemental force.

3: Gufuu (Typhoon)
This is a more powerful variation of the former technique in that now instead of a large surge in the wind, a typhoon is now formed. Katey dislikes using this attack even more than the Toranku Kaze, because he can control it even less, and usually worries that he might cause irreprable damage in himself or his allies should he use it.
