[Profile Banner] Name: Jane Todd
Nickname: none
Age: 19
Birthday: September 9th
Sign: Virgo
Gemstone: Sapphire
Blood Type: A
Fav. Food: Strawberry Yogurt Parfait
Hated Food: Coffee--perhaps a bad quality in a person whose job it is to clean coffeeshops
School: Meadowview High School (graduated)
Hobbies:
Crafty - If an object is put into Jane's hands, she immediately thinks of a way to "improve" it. Her crafts frequently involve kindergarten tools--wax paper suncatchers, pipe cleaner sculptures, and pebbles with faces painted on comprise some of her most beloved projects. She also has a knack for junk sculpture and guerilla art, and has begun a private project: spray painting ugly thrift-store knick knacks sunny yellow, and leaving them in public spaces for strangers to find and hopefully take home.
Bargain Hunter - Not shopping, not exactly. There is no joy in a brightly-lit department store, no thrill in a boring boutique. No, the only pleasure is the pleasure of the hunt. Elbow deep in filthy piles at the thrift store warehouse (look! look at the lace on this blouse! those stains will come right out!) or armed for a weekend of yard sales (map, check. febreze, check. tape measure, check.), Jane is happiest. If she could overcome her crippling shyness long enough to learn to haggle, she might improve on her already-considerable talent for finding the diamond in the rough.
Arizona Jungle - In her heart of hearts, Jane longs for a rose garden where blooms overflow their iron trellises and ivy creeps over ruined cottage walls. An urban lack of space and a brown thumb, however, have led her to the world of succulent gardening, and her Peruvian Old Ladies and Hens and Chicks fill every sunny spot in her little apartment, spilling out into window boxes and bursting over the rims of hand-made containers. Each one, naturally, has a name.

[Traits Banner]
Virtues:
Generous Heart - To make up for what she perceives as a surplus of cruelty and apathy in the world, Jane is truly altruistic. Whether it's carrying an extra bottle of water in case she meets a thirsty jogger who forgot to bring enough, or throwing an entire fiver into the street artist's violin case, or even her habit of leaving her creations where a stranger can take them home, Jane does her best to squeeze good deeds out of every hour of the day.
Yes Sir, Yes Ma'am - People don't hold doors for Jane. That is because she is too busy holding doors for them. When forced into conversation her manners are impeccable, and she speaks slowly and with care, intent on being pleasant and polite and always avoiding hurt feelings or gossip. Secrets are safe with her, and while she may never enter a political debate for fear of offending, she will also never let a passive-aggressive word pass her lips.
Trash into Treasure - Jane's source of creative energy is seemingly endless. There is never some object she won't pick out of a pile on the sidewalk, immediately seeing its artistic potential; there is never some material on the craft store shelf she can't promptly surmise an interesting use for. A sort of Renaissance crafter, she tries her hand at any number of talents--painting, knitting, sewing, silkscreening, sculpting, repurposing, calligraphy--and finds pleasure and success in each creative pursuit before moving on to the next.
Smells Like Bleach - Despite her habit of accumulating crafts and thrifted goods, and despite a small apartment bursting with treasured possessions, Jane is meticulously neat and tidy. A place for everything and everything in its well-sanitized place is her motto, and she is as happy in rubber gloves and a bleach-stained apron as she is wielding a paint brush. Her love of tidiness translates even into a habit of picking stray cans off the sidewalk during her walk home, and putting away wandering carts at the grocery store. To Jane, this is as much an act of pleasure as it is an act of kindness.
Flaws:
Wallflower. No, REALLY Wallflower. - Up until last year, Jane couldn't even use a drive-through window. She rarely speaks above a whisper and has no real friends to speak of, and will almost never initiate a conversation. She will sometimes even pass up a good yard sale find if attracting the attention of the seller is too difficult. When she does speak, although she is polite and tactful, she answers as briefly as possible, and sometimes attempts to steer the conversation to its welcome end. Then she will heave a secret sigh of relief, and wish she had talked much more, and fantasize of being the social butterfly she is incapable of being. Once a person manages to pry her out of her shell, however, she can be a talkative friend, as if the dam of silence has burst--and her awkwardness and emotional transparency keep her from looking stuck up, making it obvious that she is merely shy. This leads some well-intentioned strangers to break through the barrier.
Paranoid - Whether it's because of her shyness or the cause of it, Jane is convinced that everyone hates her. If a conversation is whispered in the corner of a crowded room, she freezes, certain that she is being mocked; if a person's eyes meet hers (a rare occurence, and always a mistake), she is sure that they are plotting some way to manipulate or hurt her. While this may seem at odds with her gentle nature, the truth is that the problem, Jane feels, isn't with other people--it is her own inferiority at fault.
As You Wish - Desperate to be liked, Jane has doormat tendencies. It is easy to bully her into doing a thing she does not want to do, even if bullying isn't the intention, and she will willingly submit to nearly any enthusiastic suggestion after very little protest. To her mind, giving in is easier and neater than putting up a fight.
Pack Rat - It's a good thing Jane is so clean-natured, because otherwise her apartment would be a hellhole. As it is every shelf is overflowing with knick-knacks both hand-made and salvaged, and her closets overflow with dresses and tights, more than she will ever manage to wear. She finds it difficult to throw things away and even more difficult to sell the things she has made, and becomes irrationally attached to inanimate objects, crying over broken treasures and saving even the most threadbare of blouses.
