Good luck with the game. SoulSilver is fun. I think one of my most interesting nicknames was a Raikou I nicknamed Custos.
When coming up with nicknames, I try and match the personality, the type, and abilities to people/other anime characters I know. And when that doesn't work, I come up with random names.
For example, a sneasel would be perfectly nicknamed Bwachoo because, first of all, Sneasel is an ice/dark pokemon. People often sneeze when it snows. Pokemon always speak their name, so nicknaming a sneasel as Bwachoo isn't just funny, it makes scary sense too.
Of course, I also have my dirty nicknames too, but those I won't speak of on here.

Just remembered something kinda funny:
So like my first day or so playing White, I got a Blitzle (the electric zebra thing, right?)
And I was like "lets have some fun with this..." and named it Zoroark.
And I vaguely remembered hearing something about Zoroarks being able to change into other pokemon.
But I don't actually know if this was ever true.
Anyways, I battled against my friend, who had been playing for like weeks, and she was like "you already lost!" when I was on my last pokemon.
So I said "Not yet" in this really ridiculous dramatic voice, and screamed "ZOROAAAARK"
And she just stared at me.
And we laughed.
And laughed.
And laughed.
But yeah, I have a Blitzle named Zoroark now.

That is funny. Naming pokemon after other pokemon. And yes, Blitzle is a zebra.
