After ********* had fixed her shoulder, Layton had pretty much passed out with exhaustion and shock. It had taken some time, but her arm had actually healed in a matter of hours. It had definitely shocked her to wake up and find that her arm was almost completely healed, save for a bit of pain.

She had explored the pools for a little while with Steven (Green?) but it had all gone a little hazy. She could remember bits and pieces, but it sort of faded back into the back of her mind.

At the moment, she was waking up from a second nap feeling completely refreshed. This one had only lasted about an hour, and she was feeling much, much better than she had been before.

Rubbing the sleepiness out of her eyes, Layton pulled herself out of bed and began redoing the braids that had been so messed up throughout the day. She hadn't even noticed just how disheveled she looked (or perhaps, for lack of better term, felt), and was actually rather embarrassed by her own behavior.

Camelot was feeling sleepy, but still determined. He was walking around the outpost, checking on people, making sure civilians were healing well. And they were, with the aid of that incredible magic. It was a relief, as he hated seeing so many people hurt at once.

Made him feel like he should have been there, even though he had no way to.

He understood the very simple idea that there were just too many people in the city, too many youma, too many troubles. He couldn't protect everyone all the time. But that didn't mean he wouldn't try. And to be unable to stop or even aid in something like this, where so many people were hurt, including people he knew from the library and around town?

That burned.

He spotted a note on a table, but he wasn't sure who it was for or what, and he wasn't sure if it was left there as garbage or on purpose. He took a glance at it, then continued on his way, deciding to leave it there for a bit longer. Spotting someone who looked like they were just waking up, he moved to check on her.

"Are you alright, miss?" he asked, as if a nurse. A nurse dressed like a knight. "Do you need anything?"

Layton blinked a few times in surprise. There was no one else around at the moment. Oh wait. Was this odd man talking to her? Layton's face turned red with embarrassment and she said, "I ... I think I'm okay." She tugged on her braids out of forcive habit.

This man was certainly dressed oddly. Then again, it seemed like a lot of people were weirdly dressed here. That Neso guy? He was so openly ... open about his clothing, yet here was this older man with bundles upon bundles of clothing. Layton couldn't really keep up with the senshi and knight "style" that seemed to be going on.

This one looked like a knight though. Not the silly armored ones that you always saw in movies, but something like a real knight. Just a few folds of clothing, a shield and some rope. Sure it was more magical than that, but Camelot's image pretty much summed up how Layton had always imagined knights really looked. Nothing fancy, it was the middle ages after all!

So wait, did that mean she had traveled back in time? There were castles and stuff here too. Or perhaps she went forward in time. Layton couldn't readily imagine floating castles in space all the way back to the time of King Arthur.

Layton shook her head. This was all too confusing for her. She decided to start with something simple. "A-actually um. If ... if you're not busy ... could you maybe um. Help me with something?" She hesitated and then added, "Butyoureallydon'thavetoIunderstandifyoudon'twantto."

Camelot watched her, not surprised that she seemed confused. They all seemed confused. Senshi, Knight, Civilian alike. He smiled in a disarming way, not judging her or meaning to make fun of her in any way.

The knight was also used to the way civilians had to take a moment to look him over. He had stepped out of a book on Arthurian legend, or so it seemed, and seeing a knight often had people wondering about his sanity. Or their own. Another thing he couldn't blame them for. There was a time when he would have had to do the same thing, though it felt like an eternity ago now.

He could hardly remember when 'normal' was. Had life ever found a version of normal? More than likely, this was it.

He could deal with that.

"I could certainly try to help you," he said with a laugh, waving his hand, "please, you don't have to be so nervous. That's why I'm here: to aid those of you who were dragged here and need that help. So, please, feel free to ask me anything you'd like. What do you need?"

Layton liked this man more than she let on. Maybe it had something to do with the whole knight get up, but he seemed geniunely concerned to help her. He had a way of speaking that was older and more authoritative too, which Layton definitely appreciated. In an odd sort of way, it was nice to have someone to order her around- she needed the structure and order after such a crazy day.

It didn't mean she was any more willing to bother him with her problems though! In her familiar, meek sort of way, she said, "W-well I haven't seen my br-brother since the space whale thingy fight. H-have you seen him?"

Layton stared for a few moments and then realized her error. "Oh! Um ... um ..." She bit her lip and then tried to describe him as best she could, "He's um. He's kind of tall, I guess. He has short hair th-that's the same color as mine. Maybe kind of darker." She thought for a moment then quietly added, "H-his name is Callum Qu-Quince."

She looked around for a piece of paper to draw a crude image of him on. She wasn't the greatest artist, nor was she a Monet or a Matisse, but she could at least communicate her better message.

A piece of paper on a table nearby caught her attention. Layton opened the letter, expecting a blank piece of paper, and was instead startled by a message clearly addressed to her:

Le Lettre
LAYTON. If you’re here, leave! Chronos Outpost – C

As she read the words, her eyes went wide with surprise. This was from Callum! It was a clue! Chronos Outpost? Where was that? Either way she had to go!

Layton took two steps and then realized Camelot was still there. He could probably help right? "M-Mister!!" she said, possibly with too much enthusiasm, "Do you know where the Chronos Outpost is?" Her eyes were filled with urgency, and you could tell she was just itching to get out the door.

Camelot looked concerned. She and her brother were dragged into this place? That must have been hell on their family, though he didn't press for details of that sort. Still, it was where his mind hovered now, after realizing that one of his friend's had lost her daughter to this place. And he couldn't tell her what was happening, not without ruining her life, her innocence.

But why not? It was right. It was fair to tell her what he knew, even if he didn't explain how he knew. He could tell her of the times when he was a civilian and similar strange things happened to him, without his ability to power up. But no, he didn't want to. That kind of knowledge, of the war and youma and all of those things, was heavy. Life changing.

It ruined people, certainly.

"I'm not sure I've seen him," Camelot said thoughtfully, listening to the description and checking it against the images of the civilians he had met so far. Had he? Something familiar was ringing in the back of his mind, but things had been so chaotic at first that it was hard to keep track of all the faces he had seen so far.

He would have to do a better job of keeping track of everyone. Getting names and being able to put them to faces.

"Oh! That note was for you? I saw it before, but I wasn't sure who it was left for, and I certainly didn't want to pick it up and move it if it was left there for a reason. Ah." He chuckled softly. It was funny, how things worked out. Now, to the question at hand. "Ah, yes, I know where that is," probably, "I can help you get there."

Probably.

Layton's face fell when Camelot admitted he hadn't seen Callum, or anyone who even looked like him. Of course, it wasn't Camelot's fault. He couldn't just magically make up that he had seen someone. It was still rather disappointing that he hadn't heard anything. Something like "Oh yes, the one with the glasses and germophobia, of course!" would have been more motivating, right?

Of course, the idea that Camelot hadn't seen him and that he was still missing was even more tentatively upsetting. What if that meant he was really dead? What if he got hauled off in the spacewhalemobile. What was she supposed to do then?

Nope. Hadn't we already discussed pushing those types of thoughts out of her mind? Besides, Camelot had already started talking again, leaving her something to go off of. Something to distract her. In a happy tone, she said, "Y-Yes! Please if you wouldn't mind showing me. I mean if you don't have other things to do, but I'm sure you do and you're a very busy knight thing after all and um." She tugged on her hair braids and seemed to retreat even farther into herself than she always was.

Camelot didn't like the look that came over Layton's face. Clearly, this was upsetting to her, and Camelot was not supposed to be a knight that went around upsetting people. He had to quickly make up for the news that he was useless in the first regard by helping her find this boy.

That would certainly put things right.

And he wouldn't have to feel so guilty, or get another look from her with that terrible sad and disappointed expression.

"I don't mind," he confirmed, smiling broadly and reassuringly. He'd fake the tour: he knew enough to get them to where they needed to go, surely. His trips around the place had been limited, and most of his directions came to him verbally and he had yet to follow them by physical means, but that didn't necessarily mean he would get lost trying.

Certainly not.

"I am a knight in your service at the moment," he said, nodding his head in a small bow to emphasize the point, "if you're well enough to walk, then we can set out." He knew many of the civilians had been injured, so he wanted to make sure she wasn't hiding any deadly wounds from him, just in case.

Layton was secretly and very silently grateful that such a nice man had crossed her path. Not only was he offering to show her where the castle was, he was also offering to escort her. Name a single teenage boy that would be willing to do that for a quiet, not-so-pretty girl. Yeah, didn't think so.

She was feeling far more at ease with this man, though she was still a bit wary of the odd outfit, but decided that he was a "good guy," someone she could trust. "Th-thank you, I can walk," was all she offered up.

Sure she had been injured a few minutes ... maybe hours (how long had she been sleeping exactly?), but she felt better than ever. It seemed this dream world didn't want to kill her off just yet. The tower place accelerated healing apparently, and Layton was very grateful for it.

With a little "hup!" Layton got off the bed and rubbed her shoulder. It was still sore, but not unbearable. Her legs certainly weren't injured in the least. She could do this!

"Please lead the way M-Mister!" she said, attempting a smile for the first time today.

Camelot smiled at her, nodding his head. He was glad to hear she was capable of walking on her own volition, at least. She was healing well, he imagined, with the aid of the magic in the air. Still, it was not in him to simply ignore the fact that she had been hurt in the first place. He wanted to make sure she it would not happen again.

Not that he expected the walk to the castle to be anything particularly overwhelming.

He watched her as she got up and made sure to note any limp, any weakness, just in case she was lying to him. He failed to see anything of the sort, though, and opted to take her at her word. She seemed honest, after all, and he had no reason to think she would hide any serious, life threatening wound from him just to go visit someone.

"Alright, this way," he said, starting off in the right direction, at least. It was a hopeful sign, and for the most part the trip stuck to that upward swing. He did get lost once, but some careful acting to pretend he had meant to go that way aided him back on path.

They'd get there eventually.

Layton followed after Camelot, out of the Virgo Outpost and towards the Chronos Outpost. For an old(er) man, he seemed to move so quickly! Layton guessed that if he tried, he could easily outrun her. Then again, Layton wasn't too bad on her feet either; she certainly didn't match the power of a page though!

They got lost on the way and had some laughs, but by the end, Layton was thoroughly sure that she trusted this man. He was amiable, and Layton found herself more and more comfortable. In a weird way, he reminded her of Mr. Rogers. Only less vunerable, and more ... cool?

As she neared the castle, Layton said, "Thank you for all the help mister!!" She waved, clearly eager to explore the castle, but also wanting to give him the proper thank you.

Layton took a deep breath and wandered up the steps...
