Layton hurried up the steps into the big castle that loomed before her. So this was the Chronos Outpost? If Layton hadn't been in such a hurry looking for something (or rather, someone), she would've gladly stopped to look at all the architecture; it was absolutely stunning. Something like an old castle, but with a certain technological ... magicness about it?
It was hard to describe, needless to say.
Layton was overjoyed by all the gardens too. What she would give to take some of these flowers home with her, or even be a worker at this ... castle of sorts. As she passed some peonies, she smiled, feeling just a bit more cheerful, a bit more hopeful as she strolled along.
She passed a few women, but was too shy to say anything. Layton wanted to ask everyone she saw if they'd seen Callum, but she just couldn't bring herself to do it. She'd feed herself excuses like "they're obviously busy" or "they probably haven't seen him anyways," just so she wouldn't have to talk to these people out of turn.
With a sigh, Layton realized she would never find her brother this way. All she needed was to chin up and just ask! It couldn't be that hard, right? Okay, here's what I'll do, she rallied herself, I'll just close my eyes, and then open them. The first person I see, I'll ask!. That seemed like a simple enough system, right?
Layton took one last gulp of reassuring air and then closed her eyes and spun around. When she opened them, a ... pirate? woman greeted her. Well this was ... She couldn't just ...
No! She made a promise to herself. Layton walked over to the lady and awkwardly tugged on her sleeve.

Bela was looking at the decorations with great interest her hands on her hips when a sudden tugging motion brought her from her thoughts. "Oh hello." She said with a smile looking at Layton who obviously looked worried.
"Need some help?" She was awful chipper for being stuck in space. Granted she'd probably seemed that way since they arrived, being a story teller and all she kept an abnormally perky outlook on all situations trying her best to weave the next greatest story. So offering to help Layton wasn't any different, she could use this as another adventure she was sure of it!

No this wasn't a good idea at all. This was a very, very bad idea. Layton was going to turn around, and never come back, and just continue looking for her brother all by herself like the mature young adult she was.
Because that was going to well.
But could you blame her? This was a pirate in space. The more Layton explored this place, the more she was convinced that she was definitely dreaming. Even if these senshi said so, none of this could be real. It just couldn't. How in the world were you supposed to explain space whales and magical floating castles and being in space without a space helmet and oh God this was just too much and--
Oh the lady had said something hadn't she. Layton had just sort of frozen for a moment or two, barely recognizable in length, and then returned back to her usual self. "I'm looking for my brother have you seen him?"
That probably wasn't even audible.
There she said it, she asked, so now she could run away and ask someone else that seemed a bit less ... made-up. Yet ... what if this lady really had seen Callum? Even if she was a bit ... well she was a character, but that shouldnt've deterred Layton. She needed to be willing to do anything to find her brother, she promised that!
Taking what seemed like a million deep breaths, Layton looked at the lady straight in the eye and said, "U-UHM. H-HAVE YOU SEEN MY BROTHER?" She coughed, realizing that she was talking too loud for social norm, and then quietly continued, "His n-name is Callum Qu-Quince."

Okay.... Bela frowned as the girl mumbled something, there was a small frown because she hadn't heard her and didn't want to insult the girl... then suddenly the girl asked again a bit loudly.
"Ohh... you're looking for your brother?" She paused thinking, the girl mentioned a name Callum, Qu-Quince? Bela frowned again as she hadn't seen him. "I'm sorry.... I don't think I have."
There was a pause while the storyteller thought, "I can help you look for him though, if you'd like that is." She wasn't sure how old the girl was probably in her teens and there was no tellings how old the brother was....
"Also I apologize if my uh.... outfit startled you. I was swept away after telling stories for a small festival that was in town." She felt like she owed an explanation.

"Not Qu-Quince ... j-just Quince," she clarified, attempting to control her own nervous stutter. She wouldn't want the lady wandering around asking if they'd seen a "Qu-Quince." That would just deter progress.
At the lady's offer, Layton almost said "no thank you" and then quickly scurried away to bury herself in some hole of the castle. She realized that would be completely pointless though. After all, wasn't having two sets of eyes better than one? She amended her previous statement and said, "Uhm ... y-yes please. You help would be very appreciated."
She nodded as the woman explained her costume. That relaxed Layton quite a bit. At least this wasn't some nut-job lady who thought she was actually a pirate. She just liked entertaining! Layton could admire that, if not from a bit of a distance.

Bela nodded as she understood, "Ah Quince." looking around, "I think I might remember him from when we first got here; however I think that was about the extent of it."
She smiled when the other agreed that her help would be appreciated, "So tell me dear, so I'm sure; what does he look like? And where was the last place you saw him?"

Layton nodded at Bela's conformation. Well at least now Layton knew one thing for sure; Callum was definitely in space. After all, if Bela saw him at the space whale meet-up, she couldnt've imagined it right?
Although... that was slightly more disheartening. That meant that Callum was definitely in space, and definitely missing. The corners of Layton's mouth tugged downwards in a frown.
A description? "Well h-he's tall. Really tall," She tried to gesture with her hands, but she had to stand on her tippy toes. "H-He has blonde hair l-like me and gray eyes," It was rather difficult to describe him without sounding incredibly vague. Then again, Callum was a pretty boring person. It was a good boredom though. Simplicity. "He has glasses b-but they're square ...ish."
Layton tugged on the end of her sweater nervously. This was becoming awkard wasn't it? Layton wasn't good at describing things, especially not people. "The last place I saw him was a-at the space whale," she whined, finishing her little description.

Bela seemed to think as she heard the description of the girls' brother. Giving a scratch to the side of her head as she pondered, trying to picture him in her head, "Yeah I bet we can find him!" She gave a nod and a smile.
"It can't be that hard to find him!" She offered her arm to Layton. "Come on we'll go searching around the post if you want we can go to the others!

Layton backed up a step. She still wasn't sure if she could trust anyone here. Bela seemed nice enough, but ... Well Layton wasn't going to trust anyone here until she found her brother. With all the crazy happenings, she didn't know what to expect next.
After all, what if Bela suddenly turned into a monster or something? What if Layton did? She didn't want that happening.
Suddenly she was very scared of her surroundings. Was this what they called a panic attack. Politely as she could, Layton shook her head and said, "N-no thank you miss. I d-don't want to trouble you." With that, she ran away as fast as she could. Gosh darnit people were scary.
