The Village of Three Winds is a landmark to many who live in The Devil's Eye Desert. Founded closer to the outskirts of the Devil's Dunes, this agrarian and mercantile community is blessing with being founded near the crossing place of three major wind flows. While this means that Spring in the village may bear witness to nearby tornadoes and sandstorms, the benefits insure that few among its people will depart. The Village of Three Winds receives more rainfall than any other area of The Devil's Eye Desert throughout all of the seasons. Rolling fields and lovingly constructed irrigation channels help to distribute the rainfall efficiently and yield bountiful harvests year-round.

While The Devil's Eye's tribes are fiercely proud and culturally distinct people, in the Town of Triwinds there is more gentrification of culture than anywhere else. The menof the town are less concerned with their old Gods and more concerned with teaching their kin how to carry on their important trades, and how to read and write. Triwinds is also one of the most peaceful places in The Devil's Eye due to its close proximity to the nation's border. Beyond the few tribesmen who do so of their own accord, the Town has no standing military beyond a contingent of 20 town appointed guards.

Now, Triwinds is a prisoner of perpetual twilight. The sky above is dark, and neither sun nor moon are visible. In this growing dim, Triwinds' crops are in danger of failing. The shadows seem to listen and subtly move at the corner of one's eye. There is no sign of this strange affliction ending, and its people have not the means to reverse it. All that is certain is that Lord Valdiir brought the darkness, and this knowledge troubles a great many of Triwinds' people.

Walking along the sands, she marched her troops in to position. Few carried sprayers since she hated the things. They did horrid things to the plants in an area. Nodding, they marched their force into the town. "We come to clean out the rubbish!" she shouted with joy as plants grew with wild abandon to ensnare and strangle the closest person while her troops fanned out to slay the ones still moving freely.

She inspected one of the victims who had been speared through on a thicker thorny vine. "Such beautiful work my darlings," she purred as she seemed to pet the plant. The plant moved in her hands, swaying with her touch. The victim was still a little alive. Either that or the vine moving is what made the body twitch a little.

((I'll introduce the town guards for your entertainment. Feel free to kill at will.))

Screams sounded erratically throughout Triwinds, and in the East of the town came the march of nature's wrath. The cries of the butchered did not fall on deaf ears. They were few, but they were sworn to protect their homes to insure that famine would not return to the Devil's Eye.

As they're mailed boots sounded against the cracking stones of the streets, they looked to one another. Ahead was a power none of them understood, and though they ran forward with weapons drawn fear made a neat in their hearts.

"Do not falter!" bellowed a man bearing a gunspear on which flew the flag of Triwind. "Kellos, Lena, Havar, Greitz and Thoss, come with me! We shall distract the foe from the people! The rest of you, protect the water channels! They must not reach the fields. Remember the faces of your fathers and honor your tribes!"

Six proud warriors charge forward to die, and fourteen more dedicate their lives to the defense of their people. This would be their final and finest hour.

She looked up from the grotesque display she was admiring to see people charging straight for her. "Dear me. Whatever will I do," she dramatically sighed. A wicked grin came to her face as leaves from the vines everywhere pulled up into the air to float for a moment. "Oh, that's right. I'll make them mulch." Hundreds of razor sharp leaves shot out for the charging attackers.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 08, 2011 4:15 pm

The charging six met their ends with valor. Weapons raised high, their eyes were hard set as the leaves approached. They did not falter, and for that they died with honor. Thoss, Lena, and Havar had taken up the front, and were cut apart like so much blood soaked paper. As the flesh spun from their bones in that whirlwind of gore, Kellos and Greitz roared through their fear and continued onward. Kellos had time enough t draw his pistol and fire a single shot before his fingers were fileted from his hands. As he screamed through the pain, Greitz's trained hands removed the hatchets from his back and launched them at their green skinned assailant. Behind him, their Captain stood firm and leveled his gun-spear.

Greitz's hatchets fell to the ground as splinters and battered iron heads. Before the leaves set on him he had time to shout in defiance. "I do not fear death! I go now to meet my Alamei!" He did not scream as he was cut apart, but he passed on in agony.

All that remained of the charge was the Captain, and his time had come. Before he met his end, his weapon's aim was as true as it could be. The witch that sought to murder what he held dear was in his sights, and a second shot rang out as he pulled the trigger. He trusted his skill, but knew that powerful magic was afoot here... and then the remaining leaves found him. When their work was done, he was still standing... swaying. He was an image of fading strength as he fell to his knees, clutching his polearm to keep him upright.

"Witch..." His words were caught in gouts of blood. He let the butt of his gun-spear slide from the ground to his rest behind him, leveling his sights for a final shot. His thoughts went out to the life he had lived, and the lives that had to continue past this day. They gave him strength enough to pull the trigger. The force of the shot parted the weapon from his hands, and so he rested their, kneeling... grappling with death to bar the way to the others. There was fight in him, but not enough... he would be dead in moments.

The fourteen others had made some distance from the Plague General and their comrades, and their hearts raced as fast as their feet carried them to the outskirts of town. They shouted alarums to every innocent in their path. "Flee to the fields! We are under attack! Gather your children! Flee to the fields!" Many did, but those fourteen brave souls were not among them. Five more, two armed with bolt action rifles and three with pistols and small arms slowed. "We will hold them here. The rest of you, continue on. Save as many as you can!"

The others did not stop to look at those kin who stayed behind. Their prayers went to them, but they were determined to fulfill their duties. "We make a stand here. Use what cover you can. We will ambush them as they proceed further into the city." Not another word was spoken. They posted up out of sight, each breathing lightly with their guns drawn to fire at will. They had the element of surprise but once, and after that they would find gentle repose in the arms of eternal night.

Her skin became hard as rock when she saw the attacks coming for her. They struck, doing nothing to her as they harmlessly fell to the ground. Walking over to the man who died last, her heavy steps could be heard quite easily. "Pish. Not nice to call a woman a witch," she growled as she looked down on the dead man. Grinning viciously, her brought her heavy foot down to crush his head in. "b***h is much more fitting." Laughing, she slowly made her way along further into the city as her remaining troops cut down the people trying to flee. As she walked vines shot from the ground and building ruins before her to grasp at the nearest living thing and kill it. Their thorns glistened in the desert sun, tipped in the poison she refused to spray everywhere.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 08, 2011 5:03 pm

The brave five who hid in wait did their best to keep calm and bide their time until the prime opportunity to strike, but it would not come. A thorny vine ripped out from the ground to grasp at one of the men in hiding, and he screamed in shock and pain as its brambles contracted and tore through his armor and flesh. His comrade beside him could hack at it with the knife in his possession, but found that attempting to touch the plant assured his death as well.

They had no time. If they expect to land any blows, it had to be now. "Fire!" Sounded one of the men, and the three remained leaned out from their cover and released a volley of bullets at any enemy they could see. Their desperation would go unrewarded except for a lucky strike or two, but the woman that proved to be the bane of them remained unscathed. Like those before them, they perished in pain but did not wail or beg for mercy. They fought to the bitter end to spare those nine guards remaining precious seconds to continue gaining distance.

They could feel the fire burning in their legs as the rest of Triwind's protectors sprinted away. Behind them were sounds of squealing, cracking wood and the roar of tumbling rocks. Triwinds town proper was being laid to waste that very moment, but their was still hope... they had to believe it, and as their race for survival and the preservation of their most precious resources continued they prayed for Divine Aid... but for them, their nightmares were already becoming a reality.

We only get one chance at happiness, my darling... never forget that. If you are so blessed as to find love or acceptance, then you defend it with your dying breath.

As Krayth lurched from the shaded corner of a dim and damp stone wall, his mother's words repeated over and over in his head... but it did not fuel his desire to live selflessly or through self sacrifice. It ignited the vengeful pyre of the Hunter, and he thirsted for justice.

As the Anima stepped from the shadows, Kai and Darius would find themselves back on solid ground. The sensation might feel abrupt to them, but to their Lord it was as easy as stepping down onto a road. Their surroundings were dimly lit, but two slim opening cast knife's of light into what was clearly a cellar. Long racks fashioned from wood held glass bottles of a familiar design, and it would become very clear that they were in a wine cellar. Krayth was fond of Triwinds, being the only place in all of The Devil's Eye that even remotely reminded him of the grasslands and agrarian homesteads he was used to traveling as a younger man. He had found that this cellar was a perfect distance from the town proper and the busiest farms in the area, giving him the opportunity to come and go as he pleased with little notice. Now, it served as an invaluable venue into a warzone, and their senses would confirm the notion. Even through the tiny windows, the trio would be able to hear the sounds of destruction and chaos. Buildings toppling from their foundations; the sound of heavy blows smashing apart a town he had come to love.

Krayth did not linger, and moved to their left towards a series of crudely fashioned stone steps leading upwards to the cellar's surface door. His voice was cold and fierce, and it demanded the full attention of Kai and Darius.

"I do not know what lies above, but I task you both with protecting the innocents until we know exactly what manner of fiend we are facing. Then, we will tear them apart..."

The Anima had been unusually grim in the past week, but now there was a solemn darkness to him that had not been truly present since before he had claimed the soul of Besrim Halgar... He was fixated on vengeance. The Reaper in him was hungry, and Beyruun's misty eye pulsed with a subdued but noticeable light. For all the destruction that had become a host in Triwind, Lord Valdiir intended to repay it upon its dealers in suffering.Their souls would burn in the abyss of Beyruun's hungry void... He stopped at the door, and turned to the two others before addressing them.

"STAY CLOSE! BE VIGILANT!. DEAL DEATH IN THE NAME OF THE DEVIL'S EYE!"

Beyruun was nearly ecstatic with glee as Krayth swung its weight into the cellar doors, blasting them from their simple iron hinges. He strode up the stairs and into the daylight with murderous intent, and whoever sought harm upon his people would come to know The Beast inside him very, very well.

She turned her head at the blast after the shots fell from her stone skin. "Well, well. More men destined to die. How wonderful I can help it along." Grinning, she turned around to face Krayth who had just emerged from a cellar a couple blocks behind her. "You're a cute one. A shame, since the Lord doesn't want anymore Generals." Her vines grew again, moving to ensnare Krayth and cut him with their poisonous thorns.

It took a moment for Krayth to truly grasp the gravity of their situation. To the Lord's left, some 100 yards off, was Triwinds' town proper. Broken stretches of stone architecture was heaved upwards at odd angles. Roots, brambles and fauna grew at a fevered pace, filling the air with thunderous cacophony. The life of an Anima was often fraught with danger and terrors -some of which might have been afflicted by their own hands- but even his trials in life had prepared him to witness all of Nature's fury.

Then the moment past, and the powers against them no longer mattered. They had arrived with miraculous timing, and Triwind's fields and water channels had not been ravaged by the enemy. Their work was cut out for them. Lord Valdiir was not blind to the wild beauty that sidled slowly towards them from town, underlings in tow. Krayth was salivating. Beyruun hummed rhythmically in his hand as it's form shifted, elongated and sharpened. A ferocious blade emerged, four and a half feet long and glistening black in every surface. Beyruun stared at the fey creature with longing. It wanted her... And Krayth would deliver. He marched towards her distant figure, and spat furious words at his companions.

"Kai, Darius hold the line. They must not reach the fields!"

Her smug words fueled the fire in his soul, and he did not humor then. His march broke into a run, and he brandished his black blade in both hands.

"You will die for what you've done!"

Her powers over nature were immense, and from the earth thrashing vines were torn. They leapt at him like snakes, and their fangs were wet with some wicked venom. Krayth did what he could, and with a howl of anger Beyruun cut through air and many of the vines before him, scattering them across the dirt like so many limp green ropes. But Beyruun was not as swift as the vines. Two twining limbs slapped into Krayth's left flank, and he knew the throbbing flames that he felt at their mark meant he was struck. Something began to course through him, but he didn't slow... His eye were fixed on her, as he screamed again in fearless fury.

"YOUR SOUL WILL DECORATE THE VOID!"

((No problem. Give me a bit to get a quick write up for the troops done. And the poison is the Plague Poison shown before with Glacia in Kishu.))

She smiled when she felt the vines at least cut him and infect him. He'd be down soon enough. Til then, she'd get to toy with him. "Poor man. Sorry but the void holds nothing to me." She laughed as leaves shot for him, razor sharp to slice at him and slow him down.

Razor Darts: Rank E
Poison: takes 10 posts to kill someone and is considered Rank A. Only a priest using Cure (any kind) can outright remove the poison. Anything else just gives you 20 posts before dying. After 3 posts, the "infected" person experiences minor vision impairment. 5 posts brings a burning sensation throughout the muscle structure of the body. 7 posts causes limited mobility, increasing at post 8 and 9 (-1/-1, -2/-2, -3/-3). 10 posts bring death. When on the 20 post timer, each effect starts at double the normal number.

Krayth's leg throbbed with ripples of warmth, and as he continued to propel himself towards the psychotic pseudo-dryad he could feel venom being pumped through his veins. He set his jaw, but didn't slow. The time he had before the poison fully dispersed through his body was precious, and he had to make it count. These people had been through enough war and bloodshed, and if he had learned but three things in his life of persecution and vigilantism it was hunger for retribution, secrecy, and cunning.

The Anima had been generous in the use of his powers in the past weeks, but even now only his closest advisers, his lover, Knights and the dutiful Kai were the only inhabitants of The Devil's Eye that had born witness to an inkling of his power. He prefered it that way. For when one tricks the enemy, one has a deadly hand which he can play... This woman had no idea what he was capable of, and charging blindly forward like a fool would make her cocky. The witch could laugh all she wanted. She would burn, then suffer an eternity of imprisonment and purgatory.

Her next attack was quick, but he was prepared for a frontal assault. With graceful, inhuman elegance The Anima took a leap into the air, raising his feet nearly two meters from the ground. Beyruun wasn't a sword any longer. The black ichor of his blade fanned out as a large disk, becoming a shield that covered the whole of his body as he contracted his legs to his chest. The knife-like leaves struck. They were sharp, and traveled quickly, but they were simply leaves.. and Beyruun was a creature of her own with flesh more unyielding than metal. The Exodus' misty white eye stared forward at Ivy. Eager. Hungry. Both Beyrrun and Krayth felt that pull that bonded them for all of their days, and it felt good to be in the heart of battle. A Beast again, ready to rip apart bodies in frenzy. First he would cook her meat.

Krayth exhaled in that moment of weightlessness right at the peak of a jump, and his shield arm took the brunt of the leaves' strikes without fail. His feet struck the ground still at a run. He hadn't skipped a beat. He had only picked up speed, and would soon be withing reach. Perhaps now, this harlot of thorns and brambles would begin to see what she wad facing. Or perhaps she would continue to see him as an insect waiting to be crushed. Either way, her deception was assured. She held Triwind, but he held fury within him... the first tool in her demise.

"RAGE BECOMES ME! FIRE WALKS WITH ME! WATCH YOUR CHILDREN BURN!"

A threat to her beloved plants would definitely get her attention, especially as The Anima's frame was suddenly immolated in fire. He was a conflagration; fire roared out of his eyes and mouth as he continued to howl aloud. As he continued rushing forward, the stone glowed with molten footsteps and sparse grass burst into flames. Even Beyruun was now darkness wrapped in flame, for her being was one with Krayth's. The humanoid fireball continued barreling forward;

"EVERYTHING YOU BIRTH WILL BURN!!"

Azur glared as she stepped off the sand in to the town five of Andalusia's city guards at her heals, fury burning in her veins. She torched the plants in their way in one shot, relishing in the feeling she got watching the deadly plant turn to ash as she marched forward. "Go! Darius and Kai need our support, cut through and burn every plant and hostile in your way!"

The five rushed forward at her words joining Darius and Kai, Azur trudging behind them her eyes on Krayth and the towns attacker. She then turned to the small army approaching them. "Alright, Let's take them down!"
