Casala was brushing her hair and trying to will it to grow, but that didn't last long after Eirnae came by for a visit along with Shina. Casala had come to idolize the tall Fa'e as well as Eirnae, part of the reason why she's convinced that her hair is too short, and her body too tiny. She wants to do everything that they can do!
Which of course is what started the whole mess of her trying to learn how to do meditation. Shina had explained that it was a surefire way to calm the senses, and learn more about oneself, as well as the world around you if you knew how to pay attention. Casala can't wait to start! She's already found a nice, quiet part of the Loka Nei forest to sit down in and relax, perched atop a smooth boulder that reminded her of her dinner table, or at least that's what Mrs. Joesphine calls it. She's currently trying to figure out how to get her legs into the same position that Shina had showed her, the one that resembled a giant pretzel with feet. It's harder than she thought it would be, with her tiny legs sticking out at akward angles. She's so absorbed in her task, that she isn't paying attention to anything else.

Trixie is scouting in the forest for more snakes, Snakey, her rather large boa, slithering beside her.
"For the last time!" Trixie hisses, stopping, and actually stomping her foot in the ground as she rounds on Snakey. "It's not as thought it will be an everyday thing! Cool it, or I will boot your a** out of the cave for a while!"
Snakey hisses something that puts Bellatrix's back up even more. "You are ruining the moment for me! Stop being jealous, and do what I asked!" Huffing, she stalks off, feeling herself getting nearer to another snake, almost as big as Snakey.
Ooooooo. she thinks, smiling happily. She hurries to where she feels the presence strongest.
There is another boa, not quite as pretty as Snakey, and this one is a female. She starts to coax it to her.
It doesn't take long. Soon, she has the new boa draped over her shoulders, and is walking again, petting her scaley head.
She stops when she sees another Pae not far off. This one is a female. She hides in the trees a little while longer, wanting to see if she is anything like those horrible twins. If she is, she might try her hand at murder. . . .

Small grey legs twist in a fair imitation of what could be taken as a page from the Kama Sutra, though exactly which position they are aiming for is a true puzzlement, especially since they don't hold their attempt for long. Limbs flail about, the flapping of blue wings adding a splash of color, as Casala topples over backward, landing with a muffled thump in the tall bushes just behind the rock she had been sitting on. If one could call it sitting.
"Ow..." she grumbles, poking her head up over the edge of the boulder to look ruefully at the warm spot where her rump had been moments before. Yet the memory of Eirnae saying the classic phrase of 'If you don't get it the first time...' comes to the forefront of her thoughts, and her brow furrows as she refocuses her determination at getting this right. The small Pae scrambles back up onto her rock to start all over again, unaware that she has an audience.
"Okay... So this leg goes here, and... No, this leg goes there," she mutters to herself as she tries to work her feet in the right directions with the guidance of her hands.

She watches, highly amused, as the little one falls over.
Alright, she might not be like those evil twins. . . . Too bad, she really wanted to spill some blood. . . .
Clearing her throat, she steps from the trees, still petting the female boa's head, and with Snakey slithering next to her, eyeing the female with interest.
Trixie shivers a little, feeling the feelings that Snakey is at the moment, and shakes her head a little. "You ruined my enrtrace, Snakey," she hisses to her closest friend, before turning her large yellow eyes back to the Pae in front of her.
"Hello," she says, eying her with little more than polite interest.
It is always best to lure those you wish to torment to you with kindness, and understanding. . . .

The little girl pauses with one leg bent just under the other, with her 'free' ankle caught up in the grip of both her hands. She looks up quickly to stare at Bellatrix, sucking in her oh so intelligent response of, "Huh?" before it escapes her lips. Veron chooses this moment to flutter over and land on Casala's nose, the young Pae going cross eyed as she tries to blow her Guardian up and away. "Veron, not now," she whispers harshly, finally giving up on getting her legs arranged and letting them relax as she busies her hands with plucking Veron off of its perch and putting it atop her head, where the blue Guardian chooses to stay.
"Ah... Hello!" she calls out with a wave, recovering quickly from her assortment of social foopahs. Her smile brightens as she takes note of the boa wrapped about Trixie's shoulders. "Oh, she's beautiful! I thought I saw her in this portion of the woods before."

Bellatrix eyes the exchange with between the young Pae and her guardian. Blinking once, she turns to look for her own.
She likes to think that it is hr evil nature that keeps that bloody annoying thing out of her hair. As is it's habit, it is well behind Trixie, darting in the threes.
Satisfied, she turns her eyes back to the Pae. She reaches up to stroke the snake's body now, and smiles.
Alright, points for the little twerp. She didn't run and hide.
Which saddens her. She really could use with burning some of her excess energy with sending Snakey slithering after her while she walks behind, darly amused.
She lets go of that blissful thoughts, and manages a smile. Although, it is her same wicked one. "Why, thank you. I am sure she appreci-" she stops, abruptly, when the female starts hissing again. "Yes, she definitely appreciates your compliment."
She tilts her head to the side and regards the Pae, thoughtfully. "I am Bellatrix, this is Snakey," she says, indicating the large boa now circling her feet protectively, still eyeing the boa draped over Trixie's shoulders. "I am afriad that I cannot give you this one's name, though," she says, petting the female again.
"So, what were you doing?" she asks, her voice amused.

"Pleased to meet you all," she replies with a respectful bow of her head, doing the same gesture twice more to be polite to both of the snakes. Whether they noticed or not wasn't her concern. Her right hand comes up to hover over her chest, fingers brushing against what remains of the lace of an old fashioned shawl that Mrs. Joesphine had slipped over her shoulders that morning. Her adventure through the woods had already rent a few gashes into the delicate garment despite all her best efforts to keep it clean. "My name is Casala, and this is Veron," she says the latter while pointing up to the winged ball of light perched on her head.
The fact that Trixie's smile sends a cold shiver down her spine isn't something that Casala will admit, at least not out loud. She keeps her smile pleasant as well as the conversation. Who was she to judge this other Pae for her smile?
At Trixie's question Casala's cheeks darken. Well, Shina said that the harsh truth was always better than a pretty lie. "I was trying to meditate. Your legs are supposed to be twined together, and your hands resting on your thighs. It's supposed to be relaxing." Not that she's found it to be yet, but she's sure that once she gets it right, it just has to be what Shina said. "To help focus your mind," she offers as further clarification.

"Nice to meet you, as well, Casala," Bellatrix says.
Again, best to lure with pleasantries. . . .
She frowns a little at Casala's explination. "Have you just tried crossing your legs, like this," she says, stepping out of Snake's circle, and then crossing her ankles, holding up the front flap of her skirt to better show what she is doing. Keeping her ankles crossed, she bends her knees, and slowly sits down 'Indian style.'
It might not be exactly what Casala is looking for, but it would be a start.
Taking a moment, she lifts the female boa over her head, and sets her gently in the grass. She hiss her goodbyes as she slithers away.
And, Trixie watches as Snakey slithers after her, carrying on a conversation. She shakes her head and returns her eyes to Casala.
"So, what is this meditation you speak of?" she asks.

Was it really that simple? The little Pae'il slides forward and off her boulder, hopping to the ground while holding on to her shawl so it doesn't try to leave her shoulders like the last time she moved around so much. Mrs. Joesphine was going to be soooo mad when she saw the poor bedraggled thing. She wanders up close to watch Trixie sit down slowly, apparently fascinated. So fascinated, that she doesn't even notice the female boa and then Snakey slither off.
In the same way that she's learned most everything in her life, Casala decides to once again learn by following someone else's example. She crosses her legs at the ankle like Bellatrix did, and with her wings pumping furiously and her arms to either side for balance, she eases down into a similar seating position as Trixie's. She grins wide at her accomplishment, even though she's not apt to relax her arms just yet. It takes a moment for her to realize that Trixie asked her a question, but once she does she's quick to reply. "Well, it's a technique for getting to know one's inner self first, and then allow the mind to accept the dissolving of boundries and invite the rest of the world into your sphere of awareness." That was how Shina said it, after all.
"I think it means that you're supposed to silence all distractions, and focus on what makes you... well, you. So you can get to know yourself better. Shina even says that with practice, people can mend their bodies with it!" That last statement had her really excited, and it shows. To think of all the good she could do if she could heal herself, or maybe even others! "There's supposed to be a place inside each of us where our untapped potential hides. Meditation helps us find it."

Trixie listens, and starts thinking it is a little like the flame and the void technique that she mastered not too long ago.
She forces herself not to wince when she sees the excitement over the healing thing. A nice one, eh? So, if Casala tapped into this healing energy. . . . She might be the one that heals the Pae that Trixie knows she will end up hurting at some point?
It seems wickedly ironic that they would be talking. . . .
But, fixing her wicked smile on her lips again, eyes dancing, she says, "That is a . . . noble," and she almost chokes on the word, "quest, Casala. I wish you luck." Not really, she is just being polite. . . .
But, skilled as she has always been at hiding her darker thoughts, and any feelings she does not wish to show, that last bit of her thoughts is not shown on her face. Instead, she starts tapping on the hilt of one of her new elbow blades.
"You know, meditation sounds a tad bit like this other technique I know," she starts. "Except, you lock you emotions away, and 'embrace the void,' as my totor would say. It's dead useful when you are trying to focus completely on a task. None of those pesky thoughts entering your mind and distracting you. Especially useful in combat. . . ."

"Really?" Casala responds, her eyes widening as she listens with rapt attention to the brief description of this new possible technique. "Is it hard to learn?" She shifts a bit on the ground, finding sitting still for so long a bit of a chore.
Wait, had this new Pae'il said 'combat'? Oooo... She had! "You have a sparring partner?" she asks wistfully. Eirnae wouldn't let her try to use any of the neat weapons that the shadowdancer carries with her, and Shina wouldn't either. Goodness knows that Mrs. Joesphine would scold her something awful for even thinking of touching a weapon, with or without someone to practice with.

"It is frustrating to learn," Bellatrix allows. "And, extremely difficult, yes."
Her wicked smile broadening, and her yes twinking ever more, she nods thoughtfully. "You could call him that. . . ." she says. "He is the one that taught me the technique that I have described to you, and different stances. We have had one sparring match." The twinkle in her eyes turns as wicked as her smile as she remembers the pain, the blood. . . .
"If you are not serious about combat, though," she says, tapping the scabbed over, long nick on her cheek. "And all of the bruises and scars that come with it, than you should not try to find someone to spar with."

Casala surprises herself by puffing out her chest with the surging of her pride. "Oh, I'm very serious," she intones, trying to sound very mature and confident. For the most part, she looks and sounds like a small child doing her best to seem like an adult, all rigid angles with her jutted out chin and upturned nose. It's her eyes that give away the fact that she means what she says. There is not a scrap of her physical youth to be found there.
"But no one seems to believe me when I say that," she ammends, relaxing her body without doing the same for her intense look, shaking her head and ruffling the ends of her ponytail's into statically charged puffs. "Everyone says that I'm too small yet."

"I got Lenore," Trixie pauses. "She's my care taker. I got her to buy me weapons when I was as small as you," she ends. "If you really want them, you just have to find a way to get them."
She shrugs a little. "Don't let people treat you like you are too small, ot too young. That's there way of holding you down."

She considers these words as those of wisdom and experience, and nods. Surely the older Pae'il knows of what she's talking about, right? After all, she has battle scars and everything!
Veron takes flight and spins around Casala's head like a moon orbiting a planet, except that its sense of gravity is far off the norm. It displays this by going faster with each whirl, till the Guardian is little more than a blue blur. Unconciously displaying her knack for odd timing as well as her reflexes, Casala streaks up a hand at the precise moment for Veron to smack into her palm, her fingers slightly open and curled at the first digit. Veron wobbles in midair for a moment, as if its dazed, then emits an irritated buzzing noise before making to land on the tip of its ward's nose... again.
"Veron, stop that!" Casala protests, caging the Guardian with her fingers to keep it from moving so she can keep her eyes on it, though this makes her appear cross eyed once more. "You are being very rude to our company by interupting."
Veron makes the buzzing sound again, fluttering its wings a few times before calming down.
"That tickles," the little Pae grumps, wrinkling her nose in an attempt to scratch the itch. No luck. She releases her Guardian in order to scratch at the ridge of her nose, the winged ball of blue zipping around its charge once before disappearing into a patchwork satchel that is leaning up against the boulder Casala was on earlier. Almost like a cat trying to guide their owner to their food dish, Veron pokes up a little ways from inside the bag and makes a louder buzzing sound.
