-Yes this is a repost. I wanted to know the guilds thoughts on it for those of you who practice divination-

My favorite is using a scrying mirror. Just wondering what everyone prefers and maybe why.
I like the simplicity of the mirror and I find it is better focus for me even when scrying for another person

Runes have always worked best for me. I never really could make a good connection w/ the O so popular Tarot. It's just too restrictive for me w/ the specific layouts and such. The chaos factor of rune casting meshes w/ my nature so much better.

Also, just being open to and aware of my "flashes" which apparently I come by honestly. They seem to be a family trait.

I've always wanted to try runes.
I have a few questions...
Is it better to make your own runes?
Is it okay to buy a rune set for yourself?
Or Should a rune set be gifted?

Better is sort of a subjective term. Remember, magic of any kind is about harnessing and focusing natural energy. It is not a hard science where two plus two is four each and every time. It is more of an art where the "best" brush for one might be the worst for another.

Making one's own tools can be a wonderful way to aquire them if one has the skill or is willing to learn it. It can also be an awful experience if you just don't have the knack for it. I don't see a ritual tool that reminds you of all the anger and frustration you put yourself through making it being a very effective one no matter how well it turned out. When making a tool all the effort that goes into it should be channeled and focused into the tool. Concentrate on what you are making and why. Visualize the finished tool being used. This can apply to anything. The repetative motions of kneeding bread dough can be a sort of medative process. It is a perfect time for chanting. In this way a simple loaf of bread can become ritual bread fit for use in the simple feast.

I have a set that my daughtor gave to me. I'm pretty sure that their made out of some sort of sculpting clay, which anyone will tell you is a BIG magic no no. It's not a natural substance. But I think that is way offset by the fact that everytime I see them I get a huge boost of warm fuzzies at the reminder of this gift my child bestowed upon me.

There is no best or right way. There is simply what works and what does not. Nothing can really answer that question but trial and error.

I hope that answers your questions. I had wanted to expand more, but apparently if I don't go be mom RIGHT NOW my daughtor's world will come crashing down around her. lol

I once practiced the Tarot and I was quite good, but after a while I realized that I could manipulate the outcome of events by the predictions I made, ie. the subject of my readings would make certain decisions based on my predictions and there by influence the outcome. If you do divinations be aware of that. Try to keep it clean and unbiased.

I've always loved tarot and runes, but could never afford to buy my own sets. I'm only familiar with using a pendelum. Specifically one made of amethyst.

I like using a scrying mirror the best.

Runes or Tarot.

Runes if I want a blunt, no-holds-barred response.

Tarot if I want something...like talking to friend over tea.

I thought so smile It's fun learning the "personalities" of various tools.

Of course, I've been known use runes AND tarot in a single reading xp

Basically I lay out the cards in whatever spread I've chosen, then I draw a rune for each position as well. The rune goes on the card and both are read together within the position of the spread.

I find that using both together gives more depth to the meaning of both card and rune, as well as the over all reading.

I wish I could see it in action. Oh well.
