A certain black cattaur padded over to a stream to wash her face in the cool shade of the forest undergrowth. Her slitted pupils narrowed as she glared at her black reflection in the water and slashed at it with her paw, sending ripples and droplets everywhere. "Rrrrrgh!" she growled. "Why can't I be beautiful?!" Her yearning question didn't seem addressed to anyone in particular, but the unlucky black cattaur flopped on the stream bank, miserable all the same. She hated all pretty taur. It just wasn't fair.
The image of a past, handsome wolftaur came to mind. Oh, how she missed him. What had become of him? He hadn't been there for Valentine's Day, even when all the other taur had been celebrating it. He must have been with some other pretty taur girl. That must have been it. All those sweet words he'd spoken to her before had all meant NOTHING. He'd abandoned her in an instant for another lovely pelt; likely one more colorful. Or maybe a younger taur; one with less frightening eyes.
Leila put her head down on her paws and wiped the tears streaming down her face with the back of one hand. As an unlucky cattaur, she thought she would have been used to such things by now. No one wanted her and no one ever would. She would never be beautiful.

A pure white wolftaur appeared on the distant lands once again after several years. He had to find his mate.. that is if she still considered him one. He frowned as he looked around, pricking his ears up. "Leila.." He whispered to himself. He knew that he did wrong for not saying anything. He would move towards where he remembered the cave that he shared with her. He then heard the crying and the words which was catching him off guard.
He whined slightly, moving towards the cave but didn't see anyone. He then remembered the stream, running to go and find her. "Leila!!!" He yelled for her, feeling his own tears running down his cheeks. "You are not ugly. You are the most beautiful gal out there. The most powerful warrior as well." He says as he slowed down to a walk. "I am sorry.. There is no words for what I have done, dear. I had to take care of Niamh. She was a kitten. You remember her, don't you?" He frowns as he looked towards the beautiful cattaur. "You have all rights to do what you want to me.. I should have told you what was going on.." He flattened his ears and fell onto his knees. "I don't deserve you." It was plain to see that it was hurting him to hear her cry and cut herself down.

The feline woman looked up, her ears perked, wondering if she was hearing things. No one really came to visit her anymore. No one could really find her. Suppose they were a tracker - no, a hunter. A hunter coul probably have found her. Jaegar had been a hunter. It had been so long since she had heard Jaegar's voice that Leila refused to deceive herself. When she finally spotted him, it was like a mirage or a dream.
Jae...Jaegar...?" she breathed as her heart skipped a beat. This had to be a dream. Since when did the wolf warrior cry? And for her sake, no less? But no...if this were her dream, the wolftaur wouldn't have mentioned another cattaur's name. Leila remembered the calio cattaur cub well. She snarled and glared at him. "Stay away from me. What sorcery is this? Who are you? You aren't my Jaegar." She hissed and slashed her claws out toward him in warning. "My Jaegar was a great warrior. He would never show such weakness. On your paws, imposter. I don't fight weaklings."

Jaegar sighed as he looks towards her. "I may not be the same wolf as before but I can promise you that I won't leave, Leila. You are my feline." He moves closer to her, wanting to show her the scars that she knew so well. "You know it is me.." He didn't know how else to prove who he is to her. "Leila..To see you crying like you were.. To see you hurting like you were. It gives me a great deal of pain. I don't DARE show weakness to anyone but you? You are the one that keeps me going in life. It is good to show weakness from time to time. It shows that you are alive than robotic so to speak."
He frowned as he looks towards her. "Why would you call me an imposter? Everyone changes, dear.. No one ever stay the same in life. Take in my scent. If you still think I am not who I am, then I'll leave." He flicks his ears down. "I would fight the worst and the meanest taurs out there just for you." He wasn't scared of the claws as he moved even closer. "Do what you will, Leila. I love you. I want you to be my mate." He looked down as he tried to wipe away tears from his eyes.

"Since when have I ever been yours?!" the cattaur snarled viciously, crouching as if ready to spring and hissing all the while. "If you're not the same, how are you so sure I'd still want you? You're probably like all the others now. That - that horrid brat of a kitten stole you away from me!" she spat. In her shock at seeing the white wolftaur again, Leila couldn't even seem to process the absurdity of her words.
However, though her muscles continued to tense at his approach, she did not spring. Something kept her from doing so. She peered deep into his crimson eyes, glaring, daring them to try to lie to her. There was a certain ring of truth to his words, but she wasn't willing to accept that just yet. Not so fast. "You are the one who is acting robotic. I've never known you to show such compassion, even when it was just us together." She looked away, sitting back on her haunches. "That child has softened you to mush. I won't bother with a mate who's lost his edge. You're worse than useless. Next you won't even be able to hunt for yourself."
Though she continued to keep her yellow-orange gaze averted from him, the black cattaur's ears flicked up at his final statements. Almost before Jaegar had time to finish wiping his tears, she had pounced upon him, her body tense and taut with muscle. Her abilities had only improved since their last meeting and her strength was far greater than it once had been. Leila gave a beastial cry as she attempted to pin down her prey.

Jaegar tilts his head and only merely replies in a soft tone, "When you took me into your heart." He watched her movements, keeping a safe distance. He sighed before shaking his head, speaking gently. "Leila.. Niamh never stole me away from you. She was just a kitten. She didn't know how to survive, much less know better." He looked down to the ground for a moment, trying to think of the words to say. But there weren't any that were really true to his heart.
The wolftaur tilts his head at her words. "Robotic? Love makes taurs do strange things, my dear feline." It seemed that he had more scars and some wounds from fighting some taurs to find her. He missed her that much. He chuckled at her words while looking towards her. "My dear.. I took down a huge elk. Those are a given fight.. a challenge. "Niamh may have changed me but it doesn't mean that she taught me something. I learned from her that you don't have to be strong to be fighting with strength in your body but in your heart and mind. It shouldn't even MATTER that I can fight out there, Leila.."
That is when he got tackled by the gorgeous panthertaur, barely even flinching. His eyes was sparkling with truth and love for her. He looked up at her, seeing her at all her glory. It was one of the biggest reasons why he loves her. In that moment, he would wait til her face got closer to his own. He then took a big risk and gave her a huge and deepening kiss.

"I didn't know how to survive when I was a kitten, and no one took care of me!" she hissed at him. "Why should she have been any more loved? It's because she's prettier than I am, isn't it? Well it doesn't matter anymore, because if I hadn't been this ugly, then I wouldn't be this strong or have learned to survive on my own, either!" Her limbs tangled up with his as their bodies rolled across the ground.
"Your sheltered little Niamh can stay pretty while starving to death after never learning to fend for herself!" Jealousy ate away at Leila worse than ever before. Out of anger and hurt, she started to say things she didn't really mean. "I hope she dies, and then everyone can worship her pretty little corpse!"
Though she took note of the scars and wounds, Leila had no idea that Jaegar had gotten them while trying to get to her. She growled warningly at his sweet words, sensing he was trying to butter her up and signaling that she would not be pacified so easily. "I liked you better before she changed you," the black cattaur said in a low, serious, dark voice, suddenly lying still as the wolftaur tried to explain. Before she could say more, though, her bright eyes widened at the deep kiss. Slowly they closed as she lost herself in his gesture of affection. She had forgotten how it felt to be so close to another taur - to feel wanted.
Suddenly her mind snapped back to action and Leila scrambled to her paws, pulling away from Jaegar. "D-don't you try that with me! It won't work!" By the flustered look on her face, however, the slight tint of pink in her cheeks and the higher-than-normal pitch of her voice said otherwise.

Jaegar looked towards her, frowning. "If I had known that you needed someone even back then, love. I would have been there. Gods.. I wish I knew you from that time!" He then took a step back when she asked him that question. "HELL NO! You are the most beautiful feline in the world. NO FELINE comes close to you." But when their limbs got mixed up with each other.. The dust is felt on his body.. something that was rarely on him except for a fight.
His ears went down as he looks towards her. "..I taught her how to fight. How to use her own features agains..." That is when he gave her a slap but not a hard one. Just enough to make her have a little pain. "..Niamh is my adopted daughter.. sister.. She is my family and you want to say that, Leila?" He whimpered as he was looking like a submissive wolf for a moment. He burrowed his brows at her. "You knew that Niamh is my family from day one!.. DAY ONE! And you want to cut my heart with those words... "
He then saw her reaction to the kiss. That is when he knew that she still loved him. "What do you mean it won't work?" His ears kept down. "It looks like to me that it did, love.. You want to tell me something I don't know?" He said with a sad smirk. It was clear that he was hurt by her words. "If you don't trust me..If you don't love me... Then.. my scars.. my battles was for nothing. They were for YOU! No one else!" He then began to turn, weeping silently. He was starting to leave.

When Jaegar struck the feline, Leila let out a sharp yowl, more out of surprise and shock than pain. He had the nerve, the audacity to strike at her? Him, when this was all his fault?! She had been the one who'd been left alone all this time, not him! He'd had his little kitten. How dare he?
These thoughts and more continued to run through the black cattaur's mind. The only reason she chose not to strike back was because all of a sudden he was acting submissively. She couldn't attack him with a display like that. He was too vulnerable. It was like attacking someone who had shown you a white flag of surrender.
With a growl, she averted her gaze from the saddened wolftaur's face, somewhat ashamed of what she'd said, but not enough to apologize for it just then. She still had her pride. Stiff and tense, she stood still even as he continued to speak. Just as he was starting to leave, though, her head faced forward, ears perked, and she raced after him, pouncing once more.
This time, however, her claws were retracted when she attempted to tackle him to the ground. "No! Jaegar - don't you turn away from me!" she hissed silently, though her voice no longer held the fury and rage it had previously. Her words were pleading now, and soft. "Stay," she whispered into his ear. Then, as if to justify her moment of weakness, "...you've come all this way. Might as well stay a while."

Jaegar lets out a yelp when she had tackled him to the ground. He winced once he was on the ground, looking up at her. "I was ready to leave if you didn't want me anymore.. or even in your presence. I gave you my word.. my honor. Niamh is just family to me. You are the only feline that I want in my heart as my love." He perked up at the tone of her voice. He bent his head to touch her own. "Leila..I would do anything for you. Even take down the stars for you." He whispered gently towards her. "The length of this journey was nothing. I would walk around the world if I could be able to keep you in my heart."

"Of course I want you!" she cried, flinging her arms around his neck. She turned her head so that her cheek rested against his chest, not wanting him to see her face. "Why do you think I've been pining all this time for you? If I didn't care anymore, I wouldn't be this upset! Stupid!" Though her harsh words had returned, there was no longer any anger behind them.
"Stop talking nonsense. I don't want the stars and I definately don't want you leaving me again for a walk around the world. Just stay. Stay with me." The cattaur's voice shook as she spoke and her eyes threatened to tear up. She tired hurriedly to wipe them away before Jaegar felt their wetness on his chest. "Don't leave me anymore. I'll miss you too much."

Jaegar frowned as the words hit him like knives. The saddness within those words were almost too much for him. His hand reached down to caress her on the cheek. "Leila.. I won't ever EVER leave you again, my love. I love you too much." His ears were pinned back, hating to see her like this. He'd deserved these kind of words and he knew it. "Liela.. I am so sorry, baby. I really am." The muscles in his body grew to be tense, wanting her to stay in his arms.
"Liela.. Cry them out. If you don't.. The pain will always be there within here." He would put his hand on his chest where his heart is. "I am here and never will leave." He whispered, benting down to kiss her on the forehead. "Do you forgive me?"

"Hmph...I'm not a baby..." she murmured, snuggling closer to him. "But I believe you." The cattaur frowned immediately, though and swatted the wolftaur's arm. "Warrior's don't cry. I'm fine. Besides, I think you've already cried enough for the both of us." A rare smile played about her lips when she finally met his crimson gaze. "I guess I could forgive you. Just this once." Purring lightly when he kissed her on the forehead, she leaned forward to kiss him return, though on the lips. Cradling his face with her hands, she stroked the edge of his jaw, running the fingers of her other hand through the back of his hair. It was a truly passionate kiss, filled with all the emotions she didn't trust herself enough to know how to express otherwise. "I know Niamh is part of your family...but I want to be a part of it too. I want to have our own family."

Jaegar chuckled at her words. "You may not be a baby but it is a nickname.. Just deal with it, Liela." He snaps at her playfully with a grin before laughing at the swat. "Warriors may not cry but it is right to do so. It is good to show emotions. That is something I learned from Niamh. You cannot hide emotions if you want to be a good warrior." He looked into her eyes, flickering his ears slightly. A warm smile then appeared on his lips. "Thank you, my love." He felt her moving up to kiss him on the lips. He softened just enough to deep the kiss, caressing her on the cheek. He leaned on one of her hands, murring gently. He lets out a sigh, feeling like he could do anything now. He has his kitty love back and would never ever lose it again. He knew that he was foolish to even do that in the first place. He perked up at her words and nuzzle her gently. "Liela.. You never truly lost that spot in the family. You were always there, dear. In my heart. You always were part of my family ever since we first met." His hand pulls her closer to hug her tightly. "Liela.. I love you with all of my heart. Please, let me be your forever mate."

"Warriors don't have nicknames! Except - except fierce ones!" Leila insisted. "What if I called you...'duckling'? Would you like that? Huh?" The black cattaur pouted. "Since when did you become an expert on emotions? I show enough of my own." Her hands clenched into fists at the mention of Niamh. "Niamh, Niamh, Niamh...what does she know? She's not a warrior. She's not even anywhere near as old or experienced as we are. Stop talking about her. I don't want to hear anymore." Getting up off him, the feline shook her head. "I don't know what you're talking about, me being a part of your family since we first met," she sighed. "But I do. Want to be your mate." Her voice softened. "I love you too."
