Republican Presidental Canadate Rick Perry says The federal Constitution should define marriage as between one man and one woman in all 50 states.

Despite saying last month that he was "fine with" states like New York allowing gay marriage, Perry has now said he supports a constitutional amendment that would permanently ban gay marriage throughout the country and overturn any state laws that define marriage beyond a relationship between one man and one woman.

"I do respect a state's right to have a different opinion and take a different tack if you will, California did that," Perry told the Christian Broadcasting Network in August. "I respect that right, but our founding fathers also said, 'Listen, if you all in the future think things are so important that you need to change the Constitution here's the way you do it'.

In an interview with The Ticket earlier this month, Perry spokeswoman Katherine Cesinger said that even though it would overturn laws in several states, the amendment still fits into Perry's broader philosophy because amendments require the ratification of three-fourths of the states to be added to the Constitution.

What the hell? How homophobic is this We have rights too its not right to strip homosexuals of their right to marry? I can't believe this. He's not getting my support.

This is... quite a problem.
How are we ever supposed to get married if presumed supporters continue to show their true colors like this.

Oh well... Though the battle rages on I'm sure we'll emerge victorious in the stand for equal rights.

I hope so. God why are these people so intent on keeping homosexuals under the shoe. We need to stand together and fght against these people who are trying to take our rights from us.

Heck yeah. And if they throw the Bible at us, I'm deeply religious and know it better than most queer haters. God doesn't hate us.

I don't know who the bigger idiots are, him or those that agree with him.
Seriously, how can anyone think that supporting someone who says one thing one day and then turns around and says something else is a good idea?
People like this guy make me see red, I wish someone would set him straight before his actions hurt someone.

It's people like this Rick Perry dude and Michelle Bacchmann that give Republicans a bad name. They should all go be stupid somewhere else. Seriously, if you're going to say stupid things like that, don't run for President. You'll just make a spectacle out of yourself.
People like this make me think Republicans aren't smart, they just lucked out and got a nice comfy, well-paid job and from there becoming a politician was easy.

Rick Perry is an idiot and a crook. He also recently said that global warning was a lie, and passively threatened to beat some political figure up (I can't remember who, exactly) rolleyes . As a resident of Texas, I've seen some of the stupid things he's done. Really, I don't understand what the Republican party is doing. Their main competitors are a mormon (I have nothing against mormons, but that pretty much kills his political ambitions, I think), a woman who is constantly mocked for being insane (and who's candidacy is treated as a joke by many), and a man who has several skeletons in his closet.

Um Hello, it's Rick Perry! What else did you expect. The only difference between him and Bush is the different colledges. Well, that and the fact that perry's on the "tweeter" blaugh

Dear Rick Perry,

I'm "fine with" states like Texas allowing freedom of religion, but I would also support a constitutional amendment to ban Christianity, because I don't like it. But I totally respect your right to a different opinion! At least until I have the chance to take it away!

See? I can say bigoted, insane, irrational things in a fake-nice way too. Now shut the ******** up.

Rick Perry, now there's a man I'd like to be swept of the planet and never heard or talked of ever again. He's an idiot and he's about as annoying as Sarah Palin every time she opens her mouth and says "Ameeeeeerica".

If he keeps on interpreting the Founding Fathers this literally, then he's gonna need to legalize slavery again, strip all women from roles in office, and demote the importance of all men, women and children who aren't from Ireland, Scotland, and England.
