ғeel free to call me. . . Petra Aglaophonos.
υnless you're blind, you should see that I'm. . . My hair might be short, but it's a girl's short hair cut!
чou think I'm what age? No, I'm. . 15.
The υniverse welcomed me on. . . June 29th.
α lot of people say I'm. . . A cheerful commander. I'm a friendly person with a sense of humor, but I'm definitely the take-charge type. Controlling summons teaches you a lot of willpower, but I've spent so much time learning to lead that it makes me grumpy if I have to play second fiddle too much! But, really, I'm the obvious choice for taking charge of most situations, because I'm very responsible, hardworking, and bold. (What do you mean, a good leader should be more patient with other people's opinions and more sensitive to their feelings? What a stupid thing to say!)
can you blame me for what I am now? After all, I grew up. . . In an extended family of magic users. We're all distant descendants of one of the infamous Sirens, and some of our ancestress's power still lingers in our bloodline, giving us various forms of song-based magic. My parents are second cousins (yeah, I know it's kind of weird), and immigrated from Greece to New York City when I was still a baby to take care of my widowed yiayia (my grandmother). Yiayia is the one who taught me the basics of how to use my abilities, since she likewise could use song to summon and neither of my parents can. I had a pretty happy childhood, living like a normal middle class kid in Astoria during the day and learning from Yiayia at night.
Yiayia died recently, and my parents decided that without her to tutor me it would be better to send me to a school that specializes in kids with unusual powers.
αbilities? Yeah, I have . . .
The ability to summon and control spirits and other ethereal beings with song. The way it works is, my voice forms a kind of rope that pulls them out of their native plane, then - if I want to keep them here once I stop singing - I can bind them to one of the sealing stones I keep on me at all times. Most of the time it's temporary and they return to their rightful place an hour or so later; permanent seals are really hard to do, and even my grandmother only ever managed it once. While they're here on this plane they're under my command. Once I'm done with them I can either wait for the sealing stone to send them back or banish them myself, again with song.
I can't call anything very big yet, just weaker spirits and maybe an imp or two if I stretch myself. I'm not sure I want to go much bigger just yet - a really powerful summon could resist my control and cause all kinds of havoc!
I inherited my grandmother's permanent summon, Hesiod, who's bound to the blue agate in the necklace I always wear. He's a birdlike little air spirit, and will sing the counterpoint for me in more complicated summonings. Hesi is pretty cute and generally harmless, (the worst I can say about him is that he speaks in rhyme), so I let him go around where he likes most of the time. He likes to dive-bomb people, ha ha!
I aםore. . . ○ Music, obviously! I have pretty diverse tastes, but I love girl groups especially. ○ Soccer! I played sweeper on the team at my old school, and I love both playing and watching. ○ Clothing! I loooove following fashion. People and spirits take you more seriously when you're dressed for success. ○ Matchmaking! It's a lot of fun for me to help people hook up. Sometimes they're just so stupidly shy and need a little push, you know?
єvery time one of these come into my life, things just go downhill . . . ○ Rebels without a cause. If you're going to annoy everyone else at least have a freaking reason for it, okay? ○ Loneliness. I'm used to having people or spirits around all the time, it makes me uncomfortable to be by myself. ○ Grating voices. Especially girls with those really high pitched squeaky ones. That's so annoying. ○ Really spicy food. Bleugh.

υnless you're blind, you should see that I'm. . . A girl!

The υniverse welcomed me on. . . March 19th
α lot of people say I'm. . . Self-effacing, kind and sensible, but very curious. I don't think I'm a very interesting person compared to others, so I usually like to let other people be the star of the show. But I do get curious really easily, and once my interest is up about someone or something I can be pretty persistent.
I don't get angry or upset very easily, and one of the few times I'll put myself forward is to try to talk other people down if they're being a little irrational, especially if it's upsetting others. I don't like seeing people unhappy.
can you blame me for what I am now? After all, I grew up. . . On a farm in Shropshire, England. It's a rural area, so we didn't have very many neighbors - but the ones we did have, we knew very well. I have five siblings, all loudmouthed boys, and they'd tease me for being the only girl. I know some girls cope with that sort of thing by becoming boyish, but I'm not very good at that sort of thing, so I learned to deflect attention onto others instead.
I've always had my ability to find lost things, although no one realized it was more than just a coincidence until I was in my teens. I got into a scrape a few months ago when I was caught while locating a stash of things one of our neighbors had been stealing from other farms. After my father fished me out of the resulting trouble (it's a long story, but involves being locked up in a barn with an angry dog, amongst other things), my parents decided they'd better send me off to a school that might be able to teach me how to manage my ability.
αbilities? Yeah, I have . . . The ability to find things that are lost. I, um, I haven't quite learned to control it yet, but I don't seem to have it all the time, so I guess that means it's something I might learn to switch on and off, right? When it does work I get a twinge on my palm that tells me I'm near something that's been lost. It's not always something physical, although, um, I'm pretty good at finding misplaced keys, as you might imagine! But sometimes I find lost information or talking to me makes people remember lost memories.
The most impressive thing I've ever found is this cute little hat that turns you invisible when you put it on. Since I couldn't find the owner I still have it. It doesn't make you silent or anything, so people who can hear thoughts or smell really good or hear really sharply will still know you're there, of course. But it can be pretty handy if my odd little finder sense wants me to go somewhere I'm not technically supposed to be going…
I aםore. . . ○ Apples. My parents run an orchard, so I know all kinds of recipes! ○ Mystery novels, even though most of the time I figure out the solution really early. ○ Maps. I usually have one or two local maps on me, to help me find my way back if I get into odd places. I love looking at them, especially if they're old. ○ Secretive people. They fascinate me. ○ Spiders. Ha ha, I know that's weird! But webs are pretty, they're really useful, and they only try to hurt you if you frighten them. ○ Sweet foods and savory foods.
єvery time one of these come into my life, things just go downhill . . . ○ Being teased, especially if I can't turn the conversation away from me. ○ Being locked into places. I get claustrophobic and panicky if it goes on too long. ○ Bees. I'm deathly allergic. ○ Bitter food. I can't stand most coffee and tea!
