Painter had felt like painting bright outdoor scenery. Unfortunately, the best place for that was the park, where someone might distract her from her painting. She really felt the need to paint the trees and grass and flowers, so she'd just have to deal with it.
So she packed up her supplies and canvas and went to the park.
She tried to find a secluded area, but there wasn't much in the way for that, so she just chose a corner with a nice patch of grass and flowers, with a few butterflies floating around. She carefully set up her equipment at the perfect angle next to the patch, and dabbed her paw in her paints and began gently padding the canvas.

Oceana stretched out her paws. She peered out of her tree house home yawning. Seemed everyone around her was awake. Oppps she must have slept in today. She gave her fur a few quick licks to smooth down her morning fur. "That should be presentable enough." She walked out onto the limb that lead into her home. "Now for some breakfast." She jumped off the limb landing gracefully on her feet.
She strolled into the park stopping at the pond to catch herself a tasty fish. She quickly ate it before making her way further into the park. A flash of bright color caught her eyes. A butterfly. Ohhh how she loved to chase them. She frolicked after the butterfly finally stopping in Painter's patch of flowers she was painting. She let out a giggle as the bright yellow butterfly landed on her nose. "Well hello there! Thought you would stop and visit did you?" She asked the butterfly completely missing the fact that Painter was nearby.

Despite the fact that this new fox was in her patch, her "muse" wouldn't let her chase this white-and-green fox away. She suddenly smeared a white blotch of paint across her green patch of grass, adding teal dots to the white smear and another yellow dot one one of the ends. She added a few more multi-colored smudges for the flowers and other butterflies, and a little more green here and there. She really felt satisfied with this painting, it seemed this fox had been exactly what this painting had needed, whether Painter or the other fox had known it or not.
She needed to tell this fox that she had included her in her painting, but she had no idea what to say, or how to begin. She thought about it for a few seconds, before settling on waiting to see if this fox would notice her, and then if that didn't work, she would just call out and see what to do from there.

She stood for the longest time her eyes crossed looking at the butterfly. "I like you too butterfly! Want to play some more?" The butterfly flew towards her tail. She giggled and did a twirl chasing her tail and the butterfly. She did this a few times finally catching her own tail and stumbling face first into the patch. She sent butterflies flying in all directions. "Hey come back!" She jumped up bounding after her yellow friend who stopped on top of Painter's painting.
She blinked in shock at first. "Ohhh ohhh." She felt bad has she messed up whatever this other fox was doing? "Sorry!" She blurted out. "I didn't mean to chase away the butterflies and mess up your flowers." She gave the other fox a wide grin. "What you doing?"

Painter rather awkwardly watched this fox frolicking and chasing the butterfly chasing her tail. She didn't want to say anything yet, wouldn't know what to say even if she wanted to, but she still felt awkward just watching.
Finally, the green-and-white fox turned around.
"Uhm.... Don't be sorry." She pointed to her painting with a green stained paw. "Want to look?" She hoped this fox wouldn't be mad for painting her without her permission. Not all the foxes liked her style of painting, and some of them got mad when she painted them this way. This fox seemed really nice though, so Painter didn't think it would upset her too much.

Oceana blinked at the other fox. "Sure but what is it?" She bounded over to take a look. "I never seen anything like this before." She wiggled looking at the painting. "Ohhhhhhhhhhh it's so pretty!" She tilted her head at the pretty picture. "But what is it?" She had never seen a painting before. She was not a refined girl. She lived in a tree after all. She hadn't had much human contact to know about such things in the world.

Painter misunderstood the girl, and thought she was asking what it was she had actually painted. At least she had said it really nicely and not a rude sort of "What is this?"
"I was painting the patch of flowers you were in," she waved her paw vaguely over the green part of her painting, "and then you came and I painted you too." She finished by waving her paw over the white-and-light-green splotch.
Although she didn't really care what other foxes thought of her painting, it was kinda irritating when they told her it sucked, so she still hoped that this new fox liked it.

She cocked her head to the other side. "A painting?" She continued to look at the painting. "You put me in it? OHHHH! That is so cool. How did you put me in it?" She looked at the painting confused. She wasn't sure how she could be put into the painting. She was standing right here so she couldn't be in the painting. Now she was really confused.

Painter laughed a small laugh and smiled as she cleaned and wiped her paws off and got out a second canvas. She dipped her paws into the green once more and spread it around to make a background for a white fox. She left a hole for the fox, letting the white canvas be her body. She mixed some white with a small puddle of green and once more added the light green splotches on the white fox's body.
She stood back. It was a quick painting, not her best, but it was alright. She looked at her new companion and grinned.

Oceana's eyes went wide. "OOOHHH! I never seen something so amazing!" She truly ment it. "That is so awesome!" She wiggled excitedly. "You made me again." She thought a bit. "Ohhh can you give me wings? I think it would be cool to have wings." She got a day dreamy look in her eyes. "I wish I could be a butterfly. Just spend my days floating on the breeze." She suddenly blushed. "I guess I'm quite rude. I don't even know who you are! I'm Oceana. What's your name?"

Painter had already dipped a paw in yellow paint and started to add giant butterfly wing-shaped blobs to the empty white space on her canvas. She was smiling the whole time. She wasn't used to being praised so highly, and it felt really nice to have someone like her paintings.
"They call me Painter, because I paint. I don't mind not having wings, as long as I can paint. But I do like butterflies, they're nice to paint. And I don't think you're rude either. Um, would... you like to try painting? I don't know if you'd like it, but you could paint yourself flying, it might be fun.
And if you want it, you can keep this." She pressed a dry paw to the canvas in front of her. She had only doodled it so Oceana could see, it's only fair she offer it to her.

Oceana blinked. "I can do this too?" She wiggled excitedly. "You will let me do it?" She really wasn't use to other foxes being around. And she wasn't use to being offered fun things to do. Most foxes would move quickly away from her once meeting because of her hyperactivity. But at least she was always honest with her words. "I should like to learn." She bounced a bit. Then she peered at the painting the was being offered. "Ohhh no! I could never keep something that you made. No matter how much I love it!" She smiled at Painter.

"Of course, I'd love to show you how to and let you paint some things." This girl was really sweet and sincere, Painter was so happy to meet someone who was nice instead of not being interested in or even outright mocking her art. "Though, I don't have any more supplies here. If you won't mind though, I can invite you to my house and you can paint there." She began to pack up her art supplies, putting lids on the paint containers, wiping things down, and making sure the canvases were dry enough to put back into her bag. She also smiled at Oceana's refusal to keep the painting.
"I'm really glad you love it. Maybe we can do a trade? I'll keep one you draw for me, and you can keep this one."

Oceana thought a bit. "Ohhh that would be nice." She wagged her tail happily. "House? Is that like my tree? Do you live in a tree? I live in a tree with a hole in it! And I put dried grass and flowers in it for a bed. It's such a nice bed." She did her best to try and help Painter putting things away. She gave the other a huge smile. "So ummmmmmmmm do ya wanna be my friend? I don't have any friends. Everyone says I'm weird." She really hoped the other would be her friend. She was quite lonely but at least she always had the wild animals and bugs who didn't care how she was to be her friends. "Ohhhh? Ummmm we can do that!" She thought a bit. "Can a pretty painting go in a tree?"
