CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi Thunder cracked the silence of the mourners below in the dark, dingy underbelly of the city Marma. Floods of people stood in the rain looking up, where the dark lord Gicercer stood atop his blood thirsty steed, the horses chest huffed with animosity. Children stood huddled with the adults, their large eyes taking in the scenes around them, their innocence tattered and torn by the blood shed that occured moments before, many were now orphans and others homeless. Before Gicercer and his steed stood a man chained and gagged, his back had been whipped and torn open, blood dripping down like so many tears.
Fiend, traitor, slanderer, disgrace. Many or the words hissed beneath the breath of the citizens of Marma who had used their very life blood to defend their now fallen city. The chained prisoner had betrayed the king, given Gicercer the key to success and all but handed their kings head to him on a silver platter. The last great city, the glimmer of hope for the enslavement, had blinked out in the night quietly with grace and dignity torn.
"Walk, traitor, look into the eyes of the people you have betrayed." It was a haunting memory, the hopelessness written into the stark expressions of a now lost people. Thunder rumbled again and again with lightning splitting open the heavens. As for the prisoner, even though he was walked to the boundaries of Marma and banished, he felt the walk had never really ended, even long into history.Present day, 9 years later In the high snow capped mountain trails the banished lived a cruel fate. He was perched among the sharp craggs, the constant blizzards and avalanches had many supposing he had died that first year. Instead, he was finally able to live as he was meant to. Not as man, no the moment he had been captured and chained, and walked like a dog he had given up on his human side. Instead, he embraced the dark beast inside him that he had fought for so long to contain and hide. Skin, hard and scaled, his face had changed to longer and more animal like with eagle eyes. Huge fangs hung beneathe his lips that could snap a spine easily. On his back he held to large wings of a bat. Gargoyle, the name had been whispered into the imagination of men, but the race of garsalisk had been annihilated centuries ago, yet here in the snow capped mountain the last of his kind, he remained banished. Even as a garsalisk, a gorgoyle who can change his form to man, he remained in his frozen form of stone that many gargoyles had chosen. His hope was to live the rest of his life in this mountain, as a stone cold beast. Noone would dare brave climbing this mountain, it was a death wish for any being. Ice blue eyes stared out as her home burned, the screams of her family etching into her mind for all of eternity. She wanted to run into the house, to try and save her family, but what could she do? She was just a child. Instead she did what her father had told her to do the moment her home began to burn, she ran. Her feet were bare, feeling the sting created from the ice and frozen branches. She didn't know where she was going, or what she would do to survive but she had to. She was stopped when she ran into a large frame, a blade traveling from the top of her face all the way down to her chin. She screamed from the pain, but it only lasted for a moment. Something came from behind her and she felt the darkness take her over. Present Day, 10 years laterNo one would brave the mountain, save for those that had no were else to go. She climbed the mountain, followed by nearly a dozen people. They were the only people brave enough to leave their homes to try and find a way to destroy the evil that had come over their land. Her ice blue eyes stared out among the falling snow as she pulled her coat closer to her herself. They had been traveling for days and she knew the ones with her would soon need to rest. She looked around, hoping to find some kind of shelter they could use until they were well rested enough to continue traveling. From what she could see, there seemed to be some kind of cave etched into the side of the mountain. So they traveled on, fighting the snow and wind. What else were they supposed to do in a time like this? With a raspy breathe one of the travelers had been clinging to the rocks to keep himself upright. In front of him he could see the space growing between the others and himself. This is it, he thought to himself. It was foolish to begin it, he was all but sapped out of breathe. He laid his hand upon the next stone, his body shaking from the early onset of hypothermia. Even with the cold of the area surrounding him the stone he put his hand on was incredibly warm, he wanted t ocurl himself around it and sleep for a very long time. The boy turned his gaze up the rock, it was covered with feet of stone, but the belly of it was exposed and dark blue compared to the rest of the snow covered parts. Strange, the boys gaze flickered, It looks like a dragon. That was his last thought as the boy collapsed from exhaustion. Something had fallen against his feet, it was warmer than the snow around him. The garsalisk opened one of his eyes, the stone layer around him grinding and flaking off to reveal his dark blue skin, with his awakening he took a breath, expanding his diaphram caused the shell of stone over his body to shatter and splinter off in chunks, the sound it made was loud, like a landslide. He didn't know their was a group the boy had traveled with and had abandoned caution, the wind and snow whipping around made his vision poor. Back with the straglers the sound of rocks falling made some of them pause. "Did you hear that," one of them said as they looked behind into the white expanse. "Where's Tanner?" another asked as they seemed to notice the boys disappearance. "What if it was a landslide, or worse an avalanche? The boy could be in danger, or worse already dead."

CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi CamrynPeters She turned, her hair whipping into her face when she heard the falling rocks. She instantly began backtracking. "Everyone get to the cave, make sure everyone else is safe, I'll be in there soon." She hurried back down the mountain side, eyes squinted from the wind. At the moment she couldn't see anything but she kept going. Her heart was pounding in her ears as she continued on, hoping that she could find Tanner. She paused when she saw a large shadow through the snow. She ripped the cloth covering the bottom of her face off and shouted over the wind. "Tanner!" She moved as quickly as she could in the direction of the shadow. Her heart sank when she realized that there was more than one person, Tanner obviously one of them. She crept forward, trying to distinguish features of the second person. Had they been followed? What had made the sound? There were simply too many questions to ask. Once she was closer she spoke up again. "Tanner?" Her lips quivered from the cold as she stood there, her scar itching as well, although she tried to pay them no attention. Rosh could hear the voice in the distance, he pulled back his black wings where the claws dug into his skin and the webbing stuck to his skin like glue. The bones in his legs snapped and popped out of place, it sounded like an animal tearing apart a carcass. His fangs whipped inside his skull, then slowly the last thing to change was his coloring, instead of a dark shadow he became lighter till his skin was a dark tan. His veins stood out though, they were darker than usual, seeing as garsalisks had black blood. Rosh looked down at the collapsed boy in hsi hands and walked up to the girl through the snow. "Your friend is collapsed," he shouted over the stors roar. "I'll carry him to the cave, I'll lead the way" he pointed to where the others had gone. "Quick now!" he shouted as he started taking long leaping bounds through the feet of snow. He wasn't wearing any shirt, just long black pants that hugged his form perfectly. "Right." She followed him, struggling slightly to keep up. How can he move so fast while carrying someone? She wrapped her scarf over her face again, scrambling over the rocks and snow. Hopefully Tanner was still alive, but how was this guy even alive with barely no clothes. Once they were closer to the cave she spoke up loud enough for him to hear. "How are you alive?" Which was a perfectly good question to ask. He might as well have been running around naked. She ripped the cloth off of her face as they headed into the cave, looking over Tanner carefully. Setting him beside a fire would only make matters worse, he needed something to drink and to warm up slowly. She stared at the man, "you need some clothes." Rosh looked down at his exposed chest aside from his hard nipples he didn't feel the cold at all. As to her question he wasn't sure how to answer it, when he laid the boy down at the farthest point from the fire he realized there was a small band of people there. They stared at him with such fear it made him twinge, these poor people looked as if they had nothing left to live for. "Why are you going this way?" he asked. Past these cliffs on the other side was a desert to cross, and if he remembered, an oasis and ocean shore line, where mermaids ruled. He looked at the girl who questioned him, she seemed to be their leader, with the light from the fire he saw the markings of a scar. Rosh reached out and gently grabbed her chin, he angled her head toward the fire to see the scar better. "How did you come across that?" "Get your hands off her," one of the men growled as he wielded something that looked like a kitchen knife. They were faithful, surprising, but a good surprise. Not wanting to push hhis luck he dropped her chin. "Why try to cross the mountains, there has to be a million safer roads to cross," as he spoke he could see their looks of despare. "We can't," the man who yelled at him a moment ago was cradling the knife in his lap. "Gicercer, he's closed down all the main roads." "Yeah," the elder lady of the group spoke up. "He's hunting down all those that oppose him, but noone is stupid to follow us this way." She looked him straight in the eye. "Or atleast thats what we were hoping for." Rosh's facial features turned hard at the mention of Gicercer, knuckles whitened and he felt his chest puff with anger. Apparently his hope to sleep til Gicercer was long and buried didn't work. There was another thing though, noone recognized him. A, either they weren't from Marma and hadn't heard of the betrayer. Or B, time had passed and his face wasn't being plastered on every wall in every city asking for his dead carcass. She paled, if possible, when he took her chin and observed her scar trailing down the length of the right side of her face. When he released her she looked to the man that had spoken in her defense. "Its alright, focus on warming up, don't worry." She looked back to him and removed the cloak she wore and placed it over his shoulders. "Some of Gicercer's men attacked my village when I was a child...you can add up the rest. Since then we have been trying to build our numbers to fight against him. Luck hasn't been on our side though, people are too afraid of Gicercer to fight back." She moved away from him and knelt beside Tanner, she removed his gloves and rubbed his hands between hers. There wasn't much else that she could do for him, but she was going to try. The people traveling with her were dropping like flies. Many of them were old, sick, or previously wounded and with the way things were going more would die before the week was out. Her face was grim as she removed her water skin and tossed it beside the fire to melt the water inside. She glanced back at him, having noticed his reaction when Gicercer's name had been spoken. "Where were you, no one noticed you as we were climbing."

CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi Her tone in voice told Rosh alot about her, she was a fighter and was trying to keep this ragged troup together with little success, it was admirable. "I came on my own," Rosh would tell the truth but tell it slant. "I came to escape Gicercer as well, except I got lost til I saw figures in the snow, lets just say you left a trail of bread crumbs for me to follow. All of them are dead," or so Rosh supposed having to cover all his tracks. "Except when I found the boy Tanner, he collapsed on me when I had come upon him." The followers in her troop were huddled by the fire, they all wern't sure wether to believe him or not, to trust an outsider, a potention spy, would mean a quick death. Instead of commenting most of them looked to their leader for guidance on how to take his story. Tanner had awoke in the corner, he was motioning for the girl, Rosh kept a very close eye on him as he was the only one that could destroy his story at the moment. The last thing he wanted was to explain that he was the traitor, the slanderer, and betrayer. He didn't want to explain to them that all their troubles stemmed from a pile of lies atop a mass of corpses. Secondly, he would have to explain how he lived in these mountains completely alone for so long, which meant telling them he was the last of the garsalisks. Rosh was a hard man, the only thing he feared was telling the truth. Ashamed and dejected the suspense in the cavern almost made him wish he had ignored the dying boy and remain in his stone cold world for another length of time, speaking of which he still didn't know what day it was. "I've been lost for a very long time," he explained to their leader, "what date of year is it?" He was hoping it didn't look to suspicious. She watched him cautiously, eyes squinting as she knelt there. She didn't know what to believe. They had run into spies before, although they didn't run around the mountains without clothes. She glanced to the others in the cave, all were watching her and waiting for her to make the final decision. She sighed before she looked him over. "I'm Zalie...what's your name?" Depending on how he answered she could determine what she should do. She turned when she heard Tanner move, instantly leaning down to focus on him. "How do you feel?" She pulled off one of the long sleeved tops she was wearing, given she was wearing layers, and rolled it to lay under his head. She reached back to grab the water skin and opened it. Most of it was melted, so he should be able to drink it. She helped him to lift his head. "Here, drink this." She gave him a small smile before looking back at the rather strange man. "Its the first moon of the winter, five years since Gicercer obtained complete power of our lands."

CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi Rosh paused when she asked him his name, instead he followed her movements numbly. She was kind to try to help him, but his garsalisk nose was slowly kicking up the scent of death, his body functions slowing, his heart rate was still smooth though although his beathing was haggered. Tanner looked up at Zalie, his eyes seemed cloudy, "Za.. lie...lie." He was choking out syllables now, but his body color had gone deathly pale. He took the drink he offered her and attempted to sip it, he coughed most of it up but he felt some of it go down. It had been five years? Gicercer had extended his rech, this information was washing over Rosh, he was more concerned about the dying boy at the moment. The way he held on so pathetically, he looked at Zalie, she was filled with determination. Walking over Rosh put his hand on her shoulder, he looked down at her then the boy. "I don't think he will make it through the night." Tanner moved his eyes to the stranger, he nodded in and out, "Zalie," he gasped, he clutched her shirt and in his last gathering of strength pulled her weakly down to his mouth. "Zalie, lies," he whispered brokenly. "Blue beast, talons, and so...warm" at this part his grip left her and his head dropped back and eyes rolled to the back of his skull as the life faded away slowly. The last ward he had said sounded like a caress, as if it was the last comfort he had felt in this world. Rosh didn't hear what he said, noone had heard, they all watched in silence as the boy of thirteen died. It was the crual reality for them, this was their last stand off, the only way to go. Rosh released Zalie's shoulder gently and walked to the entrance to the cave, he didn't look back at the group he only looked forward towards the direction of the desert he had only tasted nine years ago. Zalie simply ran her hand through his hair in an attempt to comfort him with his last few moments of life. She paused, breath caught in her throat when Tanner spoke his final words. She glanced over her shoulder at the supposed beast. Tanner had never spoken a single lie or ill word about anyone since she had met him. Had he told the truth or was it possible he was hallucinating? She pulled her shirt out from under his head and draped it over the boy's face. Too much death, far too much. She stood and looked at the others in the cave, her gaze grim. What could they do? Zalie bowed her head and walked out of the cave and into the snow, she needed to clear her mind. Everyone was safe for the moment, although the man she had discovered with Tanner was there. Blue beast with talons, what had he been talking about. Her eyes squinted in the wind, although she made no motions to cover her face. They needed to do something, they needed help, and she couldn't help but feel she was failing them. The temperature of the wind and snow seemed to do nothing to Zalie as she stood there, she was in a daze, lost in thought and ready to go insane.

CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi "Strong girl, that one," one of the older men spoke, "Can hardly blame her after all our losses. Poor Tanner, he was such a young boy. We lost his mother and brother a few days past to wild animals." The whole camp was sober, a few were even crying as they felt so desolate and defeated. Rosh looked at their faces, he had seen these looks before, had suffered under worse looks too. She was a strong girl, but just so god damn young, Gicercer caused this. In anger Rosh threw his fist at the stone, all it did was drop dust. The group looked at him, slightly afraid he would unleash his anger at them and they would have nothing to protect themselves. Rosh instead headed outside into the storm as well, he didn't stand next to Zalie, cause he wasn't sure if she was crying or not, but he stood behind her with his back straight, his essence radiating strength. He pointed to the direction of the desert. "When the storm settles," he spoke over the storm to Zalie. "I can help lead your caravan through the mountains. I can take you to the desert safely, I can provide food, and try to provide shelter. It'll be a long hard trek, but if you are willing, and your people have the will to continue then in a few weeks time you will be free." Rosh was about to say how he had lied to her, how he had been exiled, but it was still too soon. She looked back to him, her face stern, almost emotionless. She eyed him for a moment, adding his words together in her mind. It took a few seconds for her to say anything, but when she did her voice was low. "Just who and what are you? I can't lead them while I am following someone that I can't trust." Tanner's words were still replaying in her mind as she looked at him. He should be freezing, given his clothing, but he wasn't showing any signs of being cold. It was impossible. Zalie took a step closer to him, tempted to draw her knife and hold it to his throat, but she resisted the urge. Lies, blue, clawed, beast. Those four words rang so loud in her head at the moment. She kept contact with his eyes as she stood there, unmoving. It had taken her years to trust others enough to build her caravan and her youngest member had died. She knew he hadn't killed him, but that didn't mean he hadn't killed in the past.

CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi She wanted to play hardball, Rosh thought, then lets play. His eyes narrowed, "The way I see it, you don't have any other choice. This isn't just about you, look at those people, if you can even call them that at this point. You may beable to go on, but these people need to know they have a chance. They need hope," he pointed towards the cave where the group were huddled, their small fire hardly noticable. "They will die out here, you don't want that on your head." Rosh folded his hands across his chest and stood to his full height, he was trying to give her noway out. It was harsh, but he knew he could get them to safety at least in a few weeks, and in one week into the lower elevation where the air was thicker and snow nonexistant where they could hunt something. He wanted to shoulder her heavy load, it pained him to see someone so young having to do this all on her own. She was strong, but for what was to come she would need someone. He imagined himself as her knight, of coarse this knight had a few aces up his sleeve. "I know you can't trust me," Rosh admitted, "Trust is a very hard thing to earn, so instead all I ask is that you believe in me to get you guys to safety. I will walk with you, so whatever befalls you will also befall me." At this point Rosh kneeled on one knee with his hand over his heart, he kept his head bowed. In this world this was a position of utmost respect upon giving someone a sacred promise. Her chest tightened when he mentioned having death on her head. She already had plenty of that. She could not make the decision on her own, she would have to talk to them. They had the authority over their lives, not her. She watched him kneel, her heart pounding in her ears. If they agreed on following him and he got any of them killed she would make him wish that she had killed him here and now. "They can decide what they want to do, if they choose to follow you then I will not argue...but if you betray us, I will make sure that you wish you were dead." Zalie knelt in front of him, leaning to look him in the eye. Her gut twisted with the idea of trusting him, but she knew she had run out of choices. Her mind lingered on what Tanner had said, although she would save those questions for later. "At least give me your name, I need to call you something."

CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi "My name is Rosh," he replied to her request, bowing his head he stood to rise. "When they have decided, and if they do not decide to follow me then I will leave in the morning regardless." With that Rosh turned away to go into the cave. Inside he turned to the dead body of Tanner, noone would look at the boy for it was considered bad luck. Rosh returned outside, he walked up to Zalie, "If you would like to pay your last respects?" He asked, he had a feeling she wasn't for one for superstitions. "I will bury him, while you talk to your people." Rosh waited, for the moment she was inside he knew he would be safe to shed his human skin and leave the body of the boy somewhere where nothing could hurt him anymore, looking at the boys face he felt sadness for the loss of life at such a young age. Zalie stood and walked into the cave, looking to the only people that she technically had left in her life. She nodded to Rosh, "take care of him, please." Her voice was soft when she spoke, until she looked back to the others. "Rosh knows somewhere that we can go, he says that it is safe and that we will have plenty of food and shelter." She waited until he had left the cave to finish. "I do not trust him, but there is no way we can survive here. Our supplies are low, and we are bound to get sick. The choice is yours, I am not going to lead you into harm's way, but right now it seems that we have no choice." She walked over to them and sat down by the small fire, pulling her dagger out to sharpen it while she waited for their response. They all knew that she would stay with them no matter what, and that she would fight for them until the day she died. Freedom seemed like it was within their reach, which would be far from where she had been two years ago.

CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi Watching her leave he waited til the ghost of her shadow disappeared all together. Closing his eyes against the immense pain that was occuring inside him. Bones snapping, growing, shifting shape and even size. his muscles ripping only to regrow and attack to new muscles. His back was always the worst, the bones grew along his spine, pushing his ribs away, then they grew outwards and ripped from his back where they came forth covered with the black blue skin of his, it was dark like the velvet night sky on a full moons night. His eyes grew black, white pupils stood out in the center. Cradling the dead in his arms he leapt into the storm with ease and strength as they fought the air currents, he was gone in a matter of seconds. Inside the cave the eight remaining, three of which were in their fifties, and five ranging from late teens to thirties. They all were very haggared, one of the older men crossed his arms to think about it. Meanwhile a young girl had watched him closely as he had left with the dead body, she voiced her opinions openly. "I do not trust him, to appear out of the blue like this, to say he followed us when he looks as if he skipped the entire way here. I think it's a trap, he could be a spy from Gicercer's ranks. In any casy he isn't telling the truth." She spat after mentioning the bastards name. "What choice do we have? We all know he is lying about where he came from and who he is," The older man finally spoke, he had alot on his mind, mainly memories from ten years ago. He wanted to say he thoguht he recognized this man, but he knew that such a thing was something that shouldn't be shared especially since he was the only one that seemed to know a way out. Instead he kept it to himself while he rallied the cause. "We know the desert is north east, once we get to lower elevations and I can see the sun I will know if he lead us the right way, or not. If he hasn't I'll give the signal and we will kill him when he has his back turned." Everyone seemed to nod at the killing part, they were sick of being led around and played with, one man would be easy for them to take care of. "We should also make it so atleast two eyes are on him at all times." The old man spoke, his arms crossed and thinking thoroughly. "Any funny acts, and we'll know what to do." The talk continued on, for several hours they discussed everything, some were still not convinced but with the promise that they would kill him for any wrong doing, they finally concieted to following him. The older man, his name was Ferin, turned to Zalie. "We will follow him, if you still want to, are you okay with our plans?" Rosh was standing outside, he had returned a half hour earlier, thankful they were still talking it had afforded him time to change from gargoyle to man, and also catch his breath as the last black blood of his receded back into his veins. Zalie had listened patiently to everyone, nodding in agreement to the idea of killing him if he led them the wrong way. Her gaze had remained on where Tanner's body had laid, but she looked to Ferin when he spoke to her. "Following him until we are out of this snow is the best choice...after that we can kill him if need be." She had killed before and she would do again if it meant survival. "Something about him doesn't feel right...what do you think?" She frowned and looked to the flames, they were beginning to die and they were out of wood. Once everything was said and done she was going to go and search for something to keep them warm for the rest of the night. No one would be able to travel if they didn't stay warm. She looked back to Ferin, the frown remaining. "Do you think he might betray us?"

CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi Farin only acknowledged that fact she had asked him a question. The others discussed it openly before they all drifted asleep. He watch the fire sputter out on its last breath. He looked over at Zalie, the gold light reflecting off her skin illuminated her eyes, he wondered what they had seen all those years ago. Double checking that the others were asleep he turned to Zalie to speak. "This stranger, if he is who I suspect he is, maybe he won't betray us openly. When I look at his face and his eyes I have a feeling he has been lost for a very long time. Maybe he is just tryin to help us, I wont lie, we feel like a burden. You are the strongest of us and you could easily make it over the mountains, we don't want to weigh you down. Zalie, I think, in a way we need him, to help you and us." Farin didn't stay awake to here her response, he turned his body away and curled up to the others for warmth. Rosh entered the cave, in his arms he carried a large pile of sticks. He noticed they were all asleep except Zalie. He knelt by the fire and carfully brought life back to the whimpering smolders that were left. "The fire, I thought you would need more, to last through the night." He explained why he had left and was gone for so long. He still didn't look to Zalie, instead he kept his eyes engulfed in bringing the fire back to roaring life. Zalie listened to Farin's words, thinking over them carefully. She had no response for him, instead she watched him go to sleep with the others before she turned to look at Rosh. She noted the sticks, although she said nothing. Instead she looked to the fire, speaking a few words under her breath causing the fire to roar back to life. She stood and walked to the mouth of the cave, hugging her arms to herself. She hoped that he didn't hear her words, given the fact that no one knew what she was. She trailed down her scar with her right index finger before she spoke to him. "How long will it take to get them off of this mountain...or at least to somewhere that we can hunt?" She leaned against the cold rocks, thinking over Farin's words again. How strong was the chance of them being betrayed? Was it worth the risk? There were far too many things to consider. She had people's lives in her hands and she couldn't help but feel a little lost.

CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi Rosh looked over at the puddle of bodies in the corner, some of them looked so weak and starved that he worried some would die just from the cold tomorrow. Farin, his back was exposed and you could see the bones of his spine through his clothes. "It depends," Rosh wanted to be honest, "Just the two of us would take a week, the others with us will take us at the latest a few days to get to the hunting ground, over a week to get off the entire mountain." Rosh sat down close to the caves entrance, he didn't feel comfortable sleeping with them yet, they had openly talked of killing him and with that he wanted to make sure he culd at least duck outside and jump off the side while turing gargoyle. He didn't want it to go that way, hoped it wouldnt, but it was something. "I would sleep if I were you, it's already almost dawn in a few hours and all bodies need sleep." Rosh said that as he scooted his back down along the rocks til he was parallel with the floor, he was resting his head on a pointy wall, he didn't have a shirt on still, but his body radiated such heat that he didn't feel the cold. He took one last glance at Zalie, "I will get you to safety, I promise you that, but once we get to the oasis, I don't how far I can follow, or lead, after that. There are places that not even I want to go." Rosh remembered Marma, the mobs, they had thrown rocks, rotten food, anything to get some sense of vengence at the traitor. Rosh turned away from Zalie, he looked off into the blizzard with a sense of dread that tomorrow wasn't going to end well for some of them. He never wanted to go there, never wanted to place his feet on a cobbled street, or sleep in a crowded metropolis. "I know that most of them will not make it...not even a few days, but I have to give them some kind of hope." Zalie looked back at him before she shook her head and focused on the snow blowing outside of the cave. She wouldn't sleep, she hardly ever did, and she wouldn't now. No sleep would come until she was sure she could trust him. "I don't need sleep...at least not much." She looked back over to Farin and the others. It pained her knowing that at least half of them would die before they reached the base of the mountain. She turned and faced him, crouching down so she could look at him better. He didn't need to lead her far, just out of the snow, but what was it that he feared beyond the oasis? "Once they reach the oasis, I may not stay. I only want to be sure they are safe before I go and find others...children don't need to live in this kind of world."

CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi "You can't save them all, you can only save a handful." Rosh said sleepily as he drifted into sleep, unlike her his metabolism and body needed more sleep than a regular humans. Within minutes he was lightly snoring, his chest expanding and collapsing in rhythm. Meanwhile, far away from the mountains, the capitol city was sleeping cautiously. The residents were scared of the giant black fortress that held such a bloody history, and the ruler inside it. Gicercer was writting furiously when a man came storming in, Gicercer gave him little attention as he continued writing.
"Sir, the garsalisk," he held up a very dark blue crystal hanging from a necklace, it glowed very faintly. The watcher expected Gicercer to leap and move to action but all he got was a cross look as Gicercer peeked up from his papers. "Sir, we should do something!"
"Mr. Ghett, the time for worry is over, Rosh is so far removed from our problems he is no longer a threat. And, if he approaches us, we'll be the first to know. Killing him this time shall be effortless." Gicercer chuckled under his breathe as he went back to writing. Mr. Ghett wringed his hands nervously, he had felt his duty was the most important, he was the one who had stolen the crystal from Rosh all those years ago and brought about the end to the old kings reign. "Sir-"
"No!" Gicercer this time slammed his blade in the table then aimed it at Mr.Ghett, "I have rebels to worry about and capture, they are more threatening than some lone gargoyle who will probably fall back into his stone slumber, now get out of my sight!" He roared. It was true he was having to handle more uprisings and more rebels, they were gathering in the most awkward places. Even now, their captain, the infamous Ehalo had gone out her way to kill his troops in one outpost, that was the person he should worry about, not some gargoyle. Not to mention, in the spine of his problem he was searching for the girl, he had to find her and lock her away before she found Ehalo."A handful is all I need." Zalie said thoughtfully before she slowly drifted into a restless sleep. If Rosh were to try anything, or even move she would wake up. She dreamed that night, something she rarely did. They were flashes of different things, fire, killing, fighting, her parents, and every single person that had died while traveling with her. She awoke, taking in a sharp breath and looking around the cave with her dagger drawn. Everyone was still asleep and the fire was beginning to die again. With the look and sound of things, everyone had made it through the night. But that didn't mean they would make it through the day. She stood and walked over to the fire, kicking dirt over it and speaking to the others in the cave. "Everyone wake up, we need to move." Zalie looked over to Rosh's sleeping form before focusing on the others once the fire died down. Her ice blue eyes seemed to glow against the darkness as she walked to everyone and shook them awake. The last person she moved to awake was Rosh, her hand laid gently on his shoulder and moved him slightly. "Rosh? We need to leave."

CamrynPeters Neko Shizumi Rosh opened his eyes slowly, he was not the best morning person. "Uh," was all he mumbled as he stood up slowly, rubbing his eyes to adjust. The blizzard swept away over the night, leaving fresh feet of snow. He walked out, grabbing fistfuls of snow and rubbing his face with it, it was wierd but it helped wake him up a little. Yawning he turned to Zalie, his hair dishelved and eyes slanted shut with sleepiness. "We should leave immediately, we can head down, it'll give us enough time. I can hunt for some food too, this is the highest peak not likely to find animals." Rosh examined the bodies of the travelers now that he could see them in the bright sunlight that glittered off the snow surface. They were in bad shape, he looked at Zalie questionable, her layers hid her form well so he couldn't guess as to what her health was. Zalie nodded and looked back to the others in the cave. "Alright, lets get out of here. The sooner we leave, the sooner we get out of this snow." She pulled her scarf over her face and walked out of the cave. Zalie looked over to Rosh, wondering if he would lead them in the right direction. Farin had already said once they were out of the snow he would know if they were indeed going in the right direction. "Lets get this over with." She walked further into the snow and wind, hoping everyone would follow closely. Her steps were slower than normal, knowing that the first couple of hours were going to be difficult getting up to a good speed. She made sure to look over her shoulder every few minutes to make sure no one was lagging behind or had fallen down.
