The swastika is a very controvercial symbol. Tell me, what does it mean. I will post a link to a site that will tell you the actual meaning of the swasktika. however, I would still like to hear your opinions. To clear this up, I am not a racist. I know very well what it stands for.

The pentacle is a very powerful symbol in several cultures and can even be traced back to cave petroglyphs. One of the illustrations I have posted is a very famous work by Leonardo Da Vinci. the Vitruvian Man. Notice how the man's body forms the shape of a pentacle.

I understand the true meaning of the swastika but the simple fact of it is that no one in the civilized world can look at it with out images of goose stepping SS soldiers of the third reich coming to mind. The evil of the Nazi overwhelms everything else. By the way, while it is indeed a Buddhist symbol, it can also be found amongst native American tribes.

After seeing what we've had so far I'm already noticing a trend. One way the symbol is "good and benign" and another way it is "evil and nasty". Cases in point, the pent believed to be good point up, evil point down, and the swastika depending on the direction of the arms.

So, who here thinks details like this make a difference, and who feels these differences are a way for us to cleanse our minds of negative culture energies varoious sybols may have picked up?

Input?

Source TwoI have always seen the pent as the symbol of 'man' like in the second illustration. Of course to a fundamental christian this is almost as bad as a witch as this implies 'humanism'.

Humanism places man as the pinocle of evolution or the natural, something which the Abrahamic religions can not tolerate. To them God is the pinocle, not man.

But what they overlook is that when Christ (God with us) came it was to sacrifice himself for humanity.
