Explore!
The oak tree clearing is a large clearing dotted with many oak and cedar trees, just north of camp. It is a very popular hunting spot, as the fresh-kill is plentiful in every season except for leafbare. Mice like to nestle between roots, birds sing in the branches, squirrels scuttle up and down tree trunks, and voles like to make their nests near a small pon in the corner, which dries up in greenleaf and freezes in leafbare.

could it be that this search will last unbounded eternity on tainted slate?
Twins are dangerous, tricky things, and when a second thunder rings too late

[Leasurly wandering into the Oak tree clearing Whisperblade stopped and sat peacefully at the roots of the large and lovely oak tree that casted it's pleasant and cooling shade upon them, protecting them from the harsh rays of the sun beating down. The warrior smiled as he admired the large, and ancient tree, providing so many different creatures with homes, shade, and food. It was truly a magnificent tree. Turning to face Peachpaw he grinned.]
"Welcome to Oak tree clearing. You will find that there is much pray here most moons. This has personally become one of my favorite hunting spots for this reason. Why don't you show me what you know Peachpaw. Do you think you can find the hidden mouse burrow here in these roots?"
[Getting comfortable Whisperblade sat down in the grass watching her carefully.]

P e a c h p a w
[Peachpaw followed Whisperblade into the small clearing. She listened to her mentor as he talked, there was a hidden mouse burrow here? Awesome! Nodding, the brown tabby dropped into a perfect hunter's crouch and stalked the small mouse. She pricked her ears as she heard small scuttling noises and saw the familiar tail of the rodent. Jumping at the precise moment, she caught the mouse in her paws and killed it off before it could make any kind of noise. Exhaling in satisfaction, Peachpaw padded over to Whisperblade and dropped her fresh kill in front of him.] "When Amber and I escaped the twolegs, I did most of the hunting and fighting. Though, Amber did a lot too." [She said proudly, not trying to sound like a show off. The apprentice looked up at the tom and waited for him to give her more instructions.]

[Whisperblade watched as the young apprentice carefully crawled among the roots of the oak tree, looking for the den. It didn't take her very long at all to locate the nest and snatch up one of the mice. He smiled and wiggled his stumpy tail when she placed it before him. So now he knew he wouldn't have to start from scratch.]
"Good, very good. I am thoroughly impressed with how quietly you stalk. It would seem like you have your sneaking skills fairly well trained already, but do you know how to get the pray to come to you? In times of hardship it can be challenging and time consuming stalking the trails of pray. if you lay in wait around a common gathering place, such as food or water, you can have the pray come to you."
[Standing up from his sitting position he wandered over to a grove in the tree where a large number of acorn's had been stashed away. Finding a well hidden spot in the shade the warrior waited, signaling for Peachpaw to come over. After a while of waiting a chipmunk wandered over to the pile, alert and looking in all directions for predators. Whispering to his apprentice Whisperblade spoke in his softest voice.]
"Try to strike when the pray buries it's head into the stash. You will be surprised to see just how often pray put's it's self in danger. Knowing this will also help you in your fighting training as well later on..."

["Hah! I win!" An excited voice rang out in the clearing as Lustregaze burst past the line of trees, with Amberpaw no doubt close behind. Lustregaze wasn't particularly looking where he was going, and made a beeline for the stash of acorns where Whisperblade was sitting next to, skidding to a stop right in front to stop himself from falling head first into the acorns. "Ok Amberpaw, this is my super secret acorn-fun-pile, you can't tell anyone else about this ok?" He meowed excitedly, completely unaware that he had just scared off the chipmunk Whisperblade and Peacepaw were going to catch. Lustregaze giggled as he flung himself into the stash of acorns, "CANONBALL!" he yowled as he landed on his back, sending the acorns flying everywhere and a couple bopping Whisperblade on the head. Lying on his back in the pool of acorns, Lustregaze craned his head backwards to see Whisperblade and Peachpaw behind him, and his usual boyish grin immediately formed on his face. "Oh hey Whisperblade, Plumpaw, you guys wanna join in?" He asked with his boyish grin, unaware that he still got Peachpaw's name wrong. [Amberpaw followed after Lustregaze in their race. She wasn't too far behind. She guessed that she began to fall behind after tripping on her own four paws. Catching up to Lustregaze, the she-cat swatted her paw at his ear.]"That's what you get for beating me!"[She said, giggling at the same time uncontrollably. She noticed that her mentor was talking to someone. Turning around, she saw her sister, Peachpaw, and her mentor. Amberpaw smiled.]"Hey Lustregaze that's my sister! And her name is Peachpaw, silly. Not Plumpaw. Us four should collaborate, and hunt together! I bet my sis and I are better hunters. Cause, we had to fend for our own and stuff."

[As whisperblade waited patiently for Peachpaw to make her move the shadow warrior could hear the sound of tomfoolery in the far distance quickly getting closer and closer. By how loud the noise was he could guess that it was Lutergaze and his apprentice out hunting. Lustergaze always like to make loud noises while hunting. Lustergaze appeared to him in an explosion of egg corns, which Whsiperblade made no attempt to doge, letting them bounce off his head making little plop noises. While most other cats would have hissed at the tom Whisperblade was a overly calm cat. He grinned a kind grin down at the young warrior, returning his greeting.]
" Herro to you too Lustergaze. I see you and i had the same idea as to where we should hunt. Its always nice to have company. Im couriouse to see how you plan to train Amberpaw."
[ From what Whisperblade knew Lustergaze had been trained like any other warrior in stormclan, something he had never seen before. If he watched carefully maybe he could learn how to train Peachpaw like a normal warrior would. From what he had seen a moment ago however he was sure it had a considerably less amount of sneaking to it. Turning to face Amberpaw next he nodded his head slightly as a sign of respect.]
"Are you having fun so far? Hunting together sounds like a nice idea. Careful though, its not wise to underestimate others..."

[Lustregaze wriggled in the pool of acorns, not caring if it seemed like he was the only one goofing around, which of course was a fact. "Of course! Everyone knows this is the best place for squirrels and chipmunks." He grinned happily when he spoke, before getting up and shaking bits of dirt off his coat, spraying Whisperblade with a generous amount. When Amberpaw suggested a hunting challenge and claiming that her and Peachpaw (so that was her name!) were the better hunters, Lustregaze immediately dropped into his hunting crouch, his body low and tail straight up in the air. "Yeah Whisperblade's right, he's an awesome hunter! He helped me catch my first squirrel you know!" Lustregaze was only a young apprentice when he met Whisperblade in the middle of leafbare, under very...unusual circumstances, when he fell off a tree and landed on top of the shadow warrior. After that, he had become mesmerised by the sneaky warrior's antics, and looked up to him ever since. (( Alright, had to redo this post though, i rolled dice instead of generating a number. DX sorry. ))
[Whisprblade shifted slightly on his feet, expressing a meek smile as his friend Lustergaze complemented him on his hunting skills. He had always loved hunting as a kitten, even had a talent for it, although he was never one for competitions. Despite this he agreed by nodding his head, he couldn't say no to Amberpaw and Lustergaze when they looked so excited for it. Turning and smiling at Peachpaw her twitched his whiskers and grinned.]
"What do you say Peachpaw, would you like us to join them in their game? Im sure we will do alright, this could be a learning experience."
[Climbing the tree quickly Whisperblade found a comfortable place up in the low hanging branches of the tree where he then lied down. From there he could see any sudden movements that could happen.]
"You go ahead first, i will wait up here until i see an opportunity..."

[Peachpaw nodded in agreement as her mentor asked if she was alright with the little contest. It would be fun to compete against Amberpaw and see who the better hunter was. Looking up at her mentor with her right eye, she nodded her head and bounded away from the group. It was newleaf, she would be able to find a plump mouse. Slowly crouching down into her hunter's crouch, she pricked her ears and kept her tail low. She sniffed the air and smelled a vole. Her heart sped up by a little and she listened to the sounds in the area. There was a bird somewhere in the trees, but she didn't care. She would be going after the vole. Stalking forward, she finally heard the creature under a pile of old leaves. Keeping low to the ground, she spotted the vole and sprang forward. Grasping it in her paws, she silenced it before it could make a noise. Peachpaw looked down at it and snarled, it was small and scrawny. That wouldn't beat Amberpaw but it will feed the clan. Sighing, she quickly dug a hole and dropped the fresh-kill into it, she would pick it up later. Deciding to let Whisperblade have a go, she padded back to the clearing. Looking up at the tree, she blinked and flicked her tail.] "Would you like to have a go Whisperblade?" [She asked, taking a seat by the tree in the shade.]

[Whisperblade looked down at Peachpaw and grinned his usual goofy grin.]
"I will make my move in time. I am waiting for this bird to come closer into the shadow, you will see why in a moment..."
[The warrior's gaze turned from her forward to where a small wood duck was picking seeds out of the grass, standing in the beams of light that came down from the above canopy. Foolishly the duck wandered through a shaded patch, which sent Whisperblade on the move. The dark tom silently cat walked across the branch he was on, hanging directly over the pray. Since he was in the shad he cast no shadow, giving no warning for the duck in advance. Suddenly the warrior jumped, landing directly upon his target.
The duck began to thrash and was about to cry out when it was silenced by a swift bite to the neck. Once it had gone limp Whisperblade whispered something under his breath as he picked it up, checking to make sure he didn't leave any feathers or Singh of struggle behind.]

["Come on Amberpaw, we can't let those two beat us!" Lustregaze muttered quietly as he began walking into the forest, making light steps as to keep himself quiet. Lustregaze always enjoyed the feeling of surging power as he pounces on a piece of prey, almost as much as he enjoyed fighting for the clan. Surprisngly he was actually a pretty good hunter, despite his usual bouncy demeanour. Suddenly he stopped in mid-step, one paw raised into the air but he didn't take a forward step. "Bingo." He muttered quietly under his breath as he slunk his body low towards the ground, his belly almost brushing against the forest floor. He stalked forwards quietly, his eyes fixed onto a plump wood pigeon beyond a few blades of grass. He didn't make a sound as his paw pads made contact with the ground...then suddenly dashed forwards, locking the pigeon in his claws. The pigeon struggled and opened its mouth to let out a startled cry, but Lustregaze's fangs were already around its neck, wrenching his head sideways and quickly snapping its neck, allowing it a quick death. "Hah! How was that Whisperblade? Bet you didn't get -" He didn't even finish his sentence when he glanced over...only to see a duck in Whisperblade's jaws. Holy Starclan a duck! How on earth did he manage to catch one?! Lustregaze's jaws were almost hanging as he eyed the rare prey in wonder. Sure it was small, maybe a young one, but still, a duck! Suddenly his plump wood pigeon didn't seem like such an amazing prey after all.] ✄ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬ ▬▬Layout Ⓒ iZann
