Explore!

Apprentice's Cove is a shallow cove carved into the cliffs by the foaming waves where apprentices enjoy playing and hunting their first catches of fish. It is also to the far west of the territory, near the sun drown place.

[Griffonsea descended the rocks quickly, her eyes locked on the water. She hadn't gotten a chance to swim in three whole days-and she was unbelievably eager to feel water tugging at her pelt as she glided like a bird through the current, slipping through waves like a fish...!
She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't see the fish carcass lying on the cliffside before she had already tripped over it.

Now, tripping down a cliff was probably the last thing you wanted to do.
(Tripping up wasn't as bad, you see.)

Griffonsea panicked for a split second before digging her claws into the rock as she fell. The first contact nearly scraped the rock, letting out a small squeaking sound. She tumbled once more, and her second attempt latched onto the rock easily. Her thorn-wounded paw throbbed, but the wound did not rip open again.
She glanced down and immediately let out an annoyed humph before letting go of the rock and splashing into the water that was right at her back.
The fall wouldn't have killed her, only startled her. And maybe given her bruises.
That was when she realized she had just fully submerged into apprentice's cove-the mini-bay at the base of the cliff. Mini-pool, because it only came up to a warrior's chest at the deepest ends. It made her realize how much this place had flooded.

At this point, she realized something she had previously overlooked-the fish she had tripped over.
As her stark blue eyes raised themselves to get a view of the cliff, she let out a startled gasp.

There were fish scattered everywhere!

The wild, turbulent waves must have stranded the creatures on the cliffsides, or beaten them to death and deposited their bodies on the cliff itself. In any case, fish freshly straneded flopped around while others stank most strongly. In her excitement, she had not scented the delicious smell of fish (with a slight undertone of rotting fish, from the long-dead bodies).]

I have to tell SeaClan,"" she whispered to herself. [This was food-food they had not had in days! Her belly roared, insisting she feast on the...well, the feast! However, she knew better; she was a warrior of SeaClan! She must feed her Clan before she herself ate.
She grabbed as many fish as she could (the not-rotten ones) and sped back to camp in more of a frenzy than she already was, and made several examples of how while tripping up a cliff is less dangerous, it surely is as annoying.]

[Griffonsea quickly caught up to Ivoryscale excitedly, tripping a bit over her paws in her clumsiness. The sun shone dimly upon them, but her pelt seemed to vibrate with a light of its own (perhaps from her boundless energy). Much like his bright fur. Or perhaps it was her eyes...
Regardless, her energy flowed out of her with enthusiasm and charisma. It was typical for Griffonsea to be this hyper, even when the situation might not call for it.]
"Hey!" she calledd, blinking at him with wide blue eyes. "Wait up!"
[She caught up to him, whiskers twitching as she panted slightly. Her pelt brushed his flank briefly without her noticing.]
"Hi there, Ivoryscale!" she chirped in a friendly tone. "What a mircale, huh? All this fish will feed the Clan three times over! We don't have to worry bout the elders or the kittens. I'm so happy I could shoot into the sky like a star! What about you?"
[She flicked her bright blue eyes over to him curiously, peeking at him with interest.]

~GM Post~

Setting:

The Reference book has been updated, but in summary, it is MORNING on MAY the 25th (1 week timeskip). It is CLOUDY, but it is not RAINING. Tonight is the FULL MOON, but right now it is MORNING.

Situational:

Shiftstar has arranged for a SCOUTING PATROL to check the APPRENTICE'S COVE.
A week ago, during the earthquake, there was serious damage to the cove; it was flooded and a section had opened up, forming a large den-like cave. SeaClan warriors and apprentices have been carefully clearing out boulders and checking for structural damage. Today, the FINAL CLEANUP is going to happen, and the structure of the LARGER CAVE in the back is going to be tested.
Players feel free to join. State in your post that Shiftstar ordered you to come if you want to join.

Shiftstar cautiously pads forward. The new interior of the cove is raw and covered with sharp stones. She exhales with disappointment; it's just what she feared. The perfect spot for apprentices to relax has become a hazard, she thought. I can't allow the younger ones to hang around here, they could cut themselves on the stones. And the interior is dangerous-what if the new cave suddenly caves in?
She shook her head with disappointment. We're going to have to find a way to block off the entrance to the new cave. At least then they can use the shallow pool to practice fishing and swimming like they used to, and we won't have to worry about wandering curious cats.

(( Apologies to Sylvaky, I had to get this started. Feel free to pick up Shiftstar where I left off once you return! ))

It has been a week since the terrible earth-shake, and Sky was still trying to wrap his head around what happened. Fortunately, he was not alone in this dilemma. For once, he was not the only one confused about what had happened, as was the situations he usually found himself in. Over the past few days, however, even the oblivious tom noticed that some cats were actively avoiding him, while others were giving him strange looks. Sky was far from an expert in reading body language; in fact, he was as oblivious and clueless as any cat could be, but even he started to notice a difference in the way the cats of Seaclan treated him. Some got up and walked away when he came near, as if he was carrying some sort of plague with him, while others stared at him with unreadable expressions. Some even hissed and called him “traitor” to his face, although he has yet to figure out what that word meant. How strange and changeable these clan cats were, one day they were friendly towards him and the next, they were spitting in his face. In the meantime, Sky decided that he had no choice but to bear with it until he could figure out what was going on.

This morning, Shiftstar had called for him to join her patrol into Seaclan’s territory, to run a safety check on the apprentice’s cove. What Sky did not know was that Shiftstar probably wanted to keep him close by to keep an eye on him, in case Starclan’s words turned out to be true. As the saying goes, keep your friends close and keep your enemies closer.

Sky padded up to the edge of the apprentice’s cove, casting a glance at the ruined landscape. ”It looks...unsafe.” He said gravely, not realising that he had just stated the obvious. ”What now, Shiftstar? Are you still going to allow the apprentices to use this cove, even with the dangers surrounding them?”

The shaking earth had left more than one cat afraid of the ground beneath their paws and Shiftstar was no exception. Every day afterwards she felt as though the stone would open up and swallow her. She fought the fear night and day to stay strong for her clan and with the new prophecy from StarClan it was getting tougher. The speckled she-cat stepped forward and batted at a stone and it clattered away deeper into the cave. Even if the stones were removed, the floor and sides were still much too rough. More than one pad would be scraped bloody, not to mention the possibility of a cave in.

Shiftstar whirled around and padded quickly out of the cave. Sky was at the edge of the cove, looking carefully at the remains. She thought about the prophecy about traitors and strangers. Though he was new in the clan, he was not unknown to Shiftstar. From his short time with them, she had deduced he was a nice enough tom and had the potential to become a proper warrior. One category ruled out, meant he could be a traitor, but so could anyone else in the clan. The SeaClan leader stood resolute in her ability to treat him, and everyone else normally. She knew that if you treated a cat like a stranger, they would become a traitor. She wanted to believe all SeaClan cats were loyal, including Sky.

Shiftstar padded over after Sky had finished speaking and sat beside him with her tail curled tentatively over her paws. "We will have to block the new cave entrance." she answered, "We'll need gather bramble and large sticks for a barrier. The rest is just cleaning up the area. The cove should be in working order within the day." She looked at Sky happily, as though having the cove open was the most important thing in the world and in some ways it was. It would bring back a sense of normality to the clan.

"We should get to work." Shiftstar mewed contently and she padded forward again to start batting rocks toward the new cave. The would be sealing it either way and so adding a few more stones would do no harm.

»LOCATION: Apprentice Cove || COMPANY: Shiftstar, Sky / rest of patrol || MOOD: Wary

Earlier that sunup, Shiftstar had requested the gray warrior’s assistance for an important observation patrol on the stability of the Apprentice Cove. Freezeshadow now stood a good distance outside the cave’s mouth, taking guard while she surveyed the interior. Although his eyes watched, unblinking, his mind dwelt on other matters—namely the trials they’d miraculously survived thus far. They had braved the Slayers, endured a flash flood, and overcame the shifting earth; all foreign dangers which posed obvious threats. Now StarClan revealed a shadier menace lurking just under their noses... It would be easy to single out the rogue amongst them – ‘Sky’ if he remembered his sister’s words correctly – but his experience with Foxfire opened him to other potential suspects. The obvious was not always as clear. Maybe, even now, the perpetrator was simply using Sky’s status as a rouse…?

Though he’d chosen to trust his sister’s judgment, with Oceanmist’s warning still playing in his ears, he found himself handling the rogue with wary regard … much like everyone else. It seemed natural to be watching Sky through narrowed forest greens, slipping into the familiar hostility all warriors harbored against strangers to the Clan. Apart from that, the line would really only be crossed if he dare lay a paw on Griffonsea.

The sound of thrumming pawsteps roused the tom from his thoughts. He assumed a defensive crouch, but found Shiftstar had only hurried to join Sky. Freezeshadow ran after her, deciding to store his thoughts in the back of his mind for later pondering. He sat a little ways from the two (more as a personal preference than anything) and listened to his leader’s words.
She looked a bit too happy for his liking … and directing the good feeling at Sky? It was as if she’d forgotten her boundaries. Freezeshadow heaved an internal sigh. 'She is either a skilled adapter or oblivious to the overall mood.' Once the two-toned cat left their company, Freezeshadow muttered without so much as a glance towards Sky, “Don’t get used to the treatment.” before padding the opposite direction to see about those wooden defenses.

((OOC: Suck post. Been so long since I rped a cat x.x))

OOC: So I was waiting to see if anyone else was going to post...apparently not. Such a short little post, I apologise.

Shiftstar gave the order to gather brambles and spread them around the entrance of the cave, and to gather sticks to construct a new cove to be used. Sky looked slightly baffled for a few seconds, looking around him to see what the other cats were doing. Shiftstar had immediately padded off to gather her own materials, Sky was about to turn and join his leader when another tom walked up to him. It was Freezeshadow, a tom he didn’t really know, nor had he ever approached the tom to try and get to know him. The grey tabby always seemed so distant and cold, making Sky feel uneasy starting up a conversation. Evidently, his cold and suspicious demeanour has not left him even now. The tom turned towards him, and quietly warned him not to get used to the friendly treatment. Sky’s only response was to stare blankly at him for a while, at a loss for words. Many Seaclan cats seemed to be suspicious of him, and Sky had no idea why. To his knowledge, he has not done anything but he could always be wrong. Puzzled, Sky padded off to do the job that he was assigned.

His paws felt twinged and tender as he started rolling rocks towards the entrance, the jagged ends digging into his pads. He would have to spend a good amount of time cleaning and licking them afterwards. His progress was slow, as was everyone else’s. By the time he was up to his fourth rock, his paws felt as though they were about to fall off. He could only hope that others were having better luck with the brambles and mud, as a lot of mud would be needed to act as an adhesive to seal the entrance.
