Take shelter.
The Refuge is the abandoned barn that serves as the Clan's makeshift home in extreme weather. Catnip and other rare herbs grow here and it is also popular hunting spot for mice. It is located near the Horseplace; the lingering scent of horses and cows can still be scented if one focuses on it.

 "To live is to slowly be born."_____________________________Embergaze_____________________________Embergaze glanced around at the strange and ancient twoleg den. It was beyond him how the place survived storm after storm! There were puddles inside the structure, covering some areas. However, he could hear mice skittering around as soon as they approached the figure from a distance.
Without saying another word to Ravenwind, he dropped into a crouch.
After a while, he had caught two plump mice and a rather skinny one. He rose, his orange eyes glittering at the barn.
We have to tell Galestar about this! he thought excitedly. The mice were hardly affected by the storm. They're still teeming! If anything, this can be our source of food for the next few days...if we get some more warriors here, we could catch many mice!

Ravenwind looked at a small bush of drowned catnip. It was a shame really, all that lovely stuff gone to waste. She looked up at the sound of skittering and nodded. Right, they were on a hunting patrol. They would hunt. Dropping into a hunters crouch she inched forward on silent pawsteps. Once the pure black she-warrior was close enough, she pounced on a mouse killing it swiftly. Eh... Was her thought on it. It wasn't her best work. Certainly not! Seprentfang had taught her much better than that. She dropped her catch and looked at the young mouse. Really?! A young one?! Ravenwind huffed. Of all the mice in this den she had to catch the young one? Ravenwind tried for more mice but every time she missed. Why was she doing so bad all of a sudden. The young warrior glanced at Emberblaze. Could it be that she was simply too shy to hunt well with a group? She shrugged the thought of. Picking up her mouse she padded over to Emberblaze. "Nice.... Nice catch." Ravenwind meowed shyly, nodding to his catch.

Embergaze blinked at Ravenwind as she complimented his catch. He ruffled his fur in embarrassment. He didn't mean to catch more than she did! He was rather good at catching smaller prey because of his large paws...
"Nice catch yourself," he offered kindly. "It's easier to c-catch them with such l-large paws," he added apologetically.
He glanced around the den. The mice were aware of their presence, and most of them had fled already. Should they risk hunting more...? He shifted on his feet, unsure why the authority had fallen on his shoulders. Well, actually, it was because he was the senior warrior, but he was very unused to being in charge of anything...

Ravenwind shifted on her paws when he offered a compliment towards her catch. She shrugged slightly. "Could've been better." She muttered quietly, looking around at the mice who were skittering away from the presence of the two Breezeclan cats. At the comment about paws, the pretty black she-cat looked at Embergaze's paws and then to her own. Her were significantly smaller. After a few moments of silence Ravenwind brought her green gaze to the warrior in front of her. "Should we try for more?" Ravenwind asked softly. "Or go back?" She was quite fine with whatever they would do but she wasn't sure which one would be better. So she figured that since he was more experienced then he may know a bit more about it.

  Even if a snake is not poisonous...__________________________________________________________
[A slight movement could be seen stirring in the tall grass. what looked like the tip of a long, fuzzy snake could be seen sticking out from the brush, wagging patiently. At the other end Serpentfang waited patiently down wind from a rabbit hole, waiting for the perfect moment to strike when the resident emerged for some grass. Suddenly a furry head poped out of the hole, alert and switching position every so often in an attempt not to be snuck up on. Serpentfang shifted her wait as she prepared herself to uncoil and strike. Suddenly, on instinct the rabbit retreated back into it's hole.
Serpentfang had a look of disappointment as she shifted back into her coiled position, waiting... Her sharp eyes left their focused position only for a moment to notice Embergaze and her old apprentice Ravenwind! She smiled cheerfully as a kit as she shot up into a tall sitting position.
"Hay! Serpentfang is so glad to see you two! Do you think you can help her catch this rabbit she ha been watching? There are two holes for it to escape from and Serpentfang has been having a hard time watching them both. Maybe if you tow guard one end Serpentfang can scare it out the other! What do you say?"
The wildcat thought it was a good idea. Galestar used to make a game out of it when she was his apprentice. It had always been one of her favorite games.

Ravenwind's green eyes watched Embergaze as she waited for a response. Ears flicking she turned her head when she heard something, but her eyes seeing nothing, she turned back to the warrior in front of her.
Heartbeats after looking back to Embergaze she heard her old mentor. "SERPENTFANG!" Ravenwind meowed cheerily before snapping her mouth shut and blinking apologetically at her noise. The black warrior bounded over to her former mentor and nodded. "Okay!" Ravenwind meowed happily, padding over to the other hole.

Serpentfang grinned as wide as she could when Ravenwind noticed her. She had a great fondness of the she cat and was proud of the brave and kind warrior she had become.
Serpentfang wonders if this is how Galestar feels...
As Ravenwind positioned herself at the other end of the hole Serpentfang closed in on her end. She began to dig and slip her long, thin body into the widening hole. Some stirring could be heard deep within the deeper the wildcat dug and squeezed herself in. Suddenly a flash of fur shot up towards Raven wind, desperate to escape the home intruder forcing herself though.
"Get him Ravenwind!"
The black she cat could hear echo in the rabbit hole after the pray as Serpentfang's tail still sticking out from the other end began to twich and dance with playfulness.

Ravenwind hid herself in the shadow of a nearby bush. Just the way Serpentfang had taught her. The shadows came in handy quite often and the young warrior was glad to know how to use it. With a nod she watched as her mentor began to slither her way into the rabbit hole. That was not what the black she-cat had expected. She had been thinking along the lines of frightening the rabbit out. But instead Serpentfang decided to flush out the rabbit. Would it work?
As if an answer to her question a flash of fur shot up out of the hole and right through Ravenwind's paws. With a hiss the warrior spun around and raced after the rabbit. Why did it have to run out at the moment she had been distracted? Knowing that she wouldn't catch up to it easily, she turned to her right for a bit then turned back to her regular path, cutting right in front of the rabbit and pouncing. With a purr she picked up the now dead rabbit and padded back to where Serpentfang was pulling herself out of the hole. "We got him." Ravenwind meowed happily, dropping the rabbit, her tail flicking happily.

"To live is to slowly be born."_____________________________Embergaze_____________________________Embergaze watched the two cats interact, his tail twitching in amusement. He was silent during the exchange and padded outside with them with his mice to watch their efforts, seeing as Ravenwind had warned the rest of the mice who didn't smell the cats yet away.
He purred in response to their catch, nodding in approval. "N-nice teamwork," he cheered softly. "We should really be getting back, though. The m-moon is rising."
He stood, his prey in tow, and nodded to the she-cats as he trotted back to camp, his tail raised. He actually had fun on this hunting trip...which was a nice, warm feeling.
((And they return to Pebble's death and Valiant's celebration. Wooh >> ))
