Mudbutt Stonecracker was a miner, like his ma'am and dah before him and their ma'am and dah before them nigh on back to the fist long beards of their clan makers. Down to the paragon Stonecracker maker of the house. Once again he woke chewed some lime stone powder and gravel making his teeth gleam... and ading that fresh I just chewed on a rock breath the ladies prefered over the I just had my 90th ale of the eve breath. He washed it down with a mug of morning ale strong to last the work days first two hours before the first ale break of the shift. He chewed some giant salamander foot jerky and some mushroom paste on a thin chalk and calcium wafer. A light breakfast. He then bowed to the statues of his ma'am and dah now long joined with the stones and passed through the arch of his apartment and took the first thermal shot to his work sight assignment. It was deep mine A-273-pl-60-Dpth90. a long ride from his apartment but he wok up soon enough to cath the early shot. He climbed into the big one pasenger brass orb as it settled over the thermal pressure valve. Just before the sphere reached baking levels inside a deep thundering rattle could be heard and felt. With a massive ShWA-BOHM!!!! the ball was launched into the service tubes under high preasure and a high vacuum front within. Quick change pressure vlaves would lead the way to the right destination... most of the time... as Mudbutt was tossed about like a sock in a dryer barrel he held no joy to the days eventual hard work and thankless labor... Very odd for any dwarf...

Mudbutt was being pressed flat against the wall of the tunnel, as the ball ricochet around in the vaccume filled tunnels. Occasionally there's the sharp hiss as the pressure valves sent the orb, and Mudbutt within, into different shutes in different directions.
Eventually, the ball hit the stoppage cushion of the end of a tunnel. However, there was a very loud PSSH sound and the rapid squeaking of springs-- before a loud crack as the ball cracked right through the cushion and then slammed right into a rock wall.
The impact cracked the orb open like an egg, dumping Mudbutt on the ground, where he landed on his face in a very unceremonious fashion. One half of the orb got stuck halfway into the wall, the other was sent spinning into the very natural looking cavern beyond the now very broken and already very rusty thermal pressure valve.

Mudbutt looked about carefully in a bug eye squint as he serveyed the busted shoot. "Somebody desrves eh right flogging fer tha mess! Ye canne hav shyte fer wyrkmanship when et comes teh these thengs. Yer liable teh ruin th' werk place... thoo by th' look O' thengs ets eh new sight er eh reopened vein. Bah! ahn nay eh sengle lad teh help open et. Prolly oot at th' pub." Mud but rummaged through his work bely getting a pick axe out and began examining the stone and soil exploring to see what mineral deposits of worth he might find bored to tears as he did so. The crash was a nuisance but not new. It happened now and again. laxed maitenance was becoming more common in the old tunnels as they became less important to the modern working dwarf... All in all it was another day just like the last and tomorrow prommised only more of the same till he joined the stones as well.

There wasn't much for Mudbutt to see. The main cave walls were made of a fine grained, clastic rock composted of mud, aluminum silicate, quartz, and hints of carbon. There were occasional veins of a fine grained, homogenus rock composed of aluminum silicate, quartz, muscovite, biotite, and cholrite.
There were one or two small veins of a coarse grained rock composed of quartz, an alkali feldspar (sanidine), and Plagioclase feldspars (albite), with a high postassium content as well as the micas muscovite and biotite.
However, near the farthest wall of the cavern was an anomoly. It was a small stone with an unusual composition. It had elements of nickel; alkli feldspars, plagioclase feldspars, potassium, quartz, and an impurity of nickel; aluminum silicate with an impurity of iron oxite; the last but not least is a crystallized metamorpasized limestone with iron impurities. It was slightly poking out of the floor at the bottom of the cave, and only the tip was visible...

"Bah! Th place has been tapped, cept fer thes wee bit O' ... Bit O'... bits!" Mudbutt begins marching over to the strange rock made of so many contradicting rock compositions. He took out a fine chisel and rock brush an excavators trowel and began to carefully dig at the stone...

Mudbutt didn't find much of this oddly composed rock. It was the shape of an egg, about twice as large as a chicken egg. After he removed it from the surrounding cheap common rock he could find no more of the unusual rock...

Mudbutt examined the egg shaped rock. He smelled it, he poked it, he spun it on top of his bald head, he then licked it laying his tongue on top of the rock to taste it. making sure it wasnt just a surface anomoly. when he tasted it wasnt he took his chisle and was prepared to take a small sample to give to lore masters of the stone weavers guild. He took the chisle and began to tap it ever so gently...

When Mudbutt tapped the rock with the chisel, he got the shiff sound of clay... but there was something else. it had an odd echoing sound... as if the stone was hollow.
From within, there was a return tapping on one of the harder portions of the shell... a sort of ting ting ting ting...

This made Mudbutt stop on the spot. he observed the rock tapping the rhythm of My Ma'am kicked yer dahs rear with both boots. (for humans it was imilar to shave and a hair cut) He left the portion of "with both boots" untapped...

From inside the egg came the tinging again. And indeed it was "With both boots"

Mudbutt nearly dropped the rock as his beard wiggled profusely. "Aye ave heard O' thes. One O' us men folk denne get with eh proper lass fer long enough ahn we start teh loose th' senses! Thenk th' rock ez becom'n our friend! Right tha' ahl et ez ah lost mah brain pan! Neth'n new! Aye ahl get a stong drink take eh wee nap ahn be true ahz bedrock en nue tyme at ahl!" He eyed the rock closely as he tried rationalizing the impossible...

The rock started to ping steadily, and a single tiny crack started to form. It started to rock back and forth gently in his hands as the crack grew larger.

Mudbutt looked at the rock as it danced in his hand breaking apart. he was transfixed like a human watching a wrek... his eyes were as big as dinner plates as he held the rock out at a full arms distance and his beard poofed out in fear....

The crack continued to grow until it completely bisected the egg lengthwise. With a final loud TING! the shell fell apart cleanly in two, revealing to Mudbutt a small, squat, brown toad with a sleepy look in it's little gold eyes. The little toad looked up and looked Mudbutt straight in the eye.
Clārus. The word echoed through the dwarf's mind for a moment... before nothing more happened. The toad's throat sac filled with air and gave (for such a tiny thing) a loud ribbit. Then it squeezed it's golden eyes.

At this for a moment all thought stopped in the dwarf skull... litterally an Electroencephalography scan would have revealed zero brain function for a good 13 seconds. As his brain rebooted He giggled and put the taod very close to his nose looking it directly in its eyes. "Wehl arent ye ahn ehdorrible lil nugget! How ye got trapped en eh rock ah canne fathom but et wouldne doo teh leave ye here without even eh shred O' look'n aftar. Th' tunnels ahre jumpy weth trouble! Eh right good tyme fer aneh dwarf but ah aint se sure fer a wee lil nugget!" He absentmindedly rubbed the space on the toads head between its eyes with a finger...
