Kasimir Schmidt, the Oberst(commander) of the notorious Europe wide military group known as Panzer is on the move as the organization of creatures and freaks alike known as the Blackguards steps things up and starts showing their faces in public, causing chaos, and even abducting human civilians for unknown reasons. Kasimir is determined in finding out the next move of the blackguards and what their true motive is. In the meantime panzer is willing to hire whoever could assist them in the battle to come, no matter whom they may be.
A wealthy young woman by the name of Sophia Morcerf who's nationality is unknown grabs the attention of Panzer authorities when she single-handedly defeated a well known German Officer after he insulted her to such a point that she killed him and burnt down his estate in little more then a hour without lifting a finger. This later lead Panzer to believe after hearing eyewitness accounts that she was a witch, something that has been uncommon eversince the great war long ago between the magicfolk and the humans and their alliance, the creatures made by the power of the magicfolk. Even though witches and wizards were feared far an wide by humans and creatures alike panzer was willing to track her down and make her join panzer.
Kasimir is then later ordered to take a couple panzer troops and go in search of the witch after Panzer manages to track down her position. They can't allow her to fall into the hands of the Blackguards who are ever so swiftly advancing across Europe. Kasimir and many of his men are forced to trek into the German alps where the Morcerf estate is located to find her. When they arrive on the step of Sophia's estate, at first Sophia is skeptical and then later she allow Kasimir and his entourage in but stays on high alert as she speaks to Kasimir in private about the proposal. Sophia winds up almost stabbing Kasimir in the chest when she tries to figure out of he isn't some member of the blackguard out to get her, because apparently it seems that something about the blackguards is shrouded in Sophia's past.- read Sophia's past- Later Kasimir manages to interest Sophia into the proposal and so Sophia tags along with nothing but a small magic laden black bag that appears endless since she store almost all of her possessions in it.
Later on in the dead of night, Kasimir, Sophia, and the Panzer troops arrive by military jeeps back at Panzer HQ. They tuck in for the night as Sophia is given both office and bedroom of her own upon arriving.
------------------------- Meanwhile at Blackguard HQ -------------------------------------------------
A rally is held by the charismatic Sculliford, a man of partial vampiric heritage and ambassador of the blackguards as he lifts the fighting spirits of his fellow soldiers, his family. He goes on explaining the reality of the recent collision with Panzer. In his own pride he makes a tremendous promise to his fellow blackguards. A promise that he would personally take down Kasimir Schmidt himself. After having a council with Faust, the leader of the blackguards Sculliford later attempts to follow that promise as sends his goons Banon and Hendricks to find out Kasimir's phone number.
-------------------------- It is morning in Panzer HQ --------------------------------------------------
Sophia awakes early and finds the rather tall and white Oberst, Kasimir waiting for her as he helps escort her to the Laboratory to have the head doctor and scientist of Panzer, frenchman Ravaillac Vasser since it was requirement for all new panzer recruits to have a checkup and being examined by the doctor for the record. It may sound like a regular checkup at the doctor's office but Ravaillac is quite the insane man. Sophia's first impression of the doctor is humored when she finds him easily getting distracted and having strange tendencies as it takes a while for him to do a simple checkup, especially after Sophia reveals that she is a witch to him. This strikes up his curiosity and takes his attention off from the large needle he is using to draw blood from her and winds up stabbing her and hitting the wrong target. After the blood is finally drawn Ravaillac treasures the vial and puts it away someway safe as Sophia as dismissed and recommended by Ravaillac to see him again.
Sophia then winds alone in the hall and decides to visit Kasimir in his office. But even a simple walk through the hall ends up eventful as Sophia comes in contact with another prestigious member of Panzer, but one who has been forever brutalized by his career and past into a cruel and hardened oldman. Lanzo Wessel, a high ranked officer is annoyed by Sophia without even having to see her as she annoys him with the clicks of of her heels down a deserted hallway as Sophia accidentally runs into Lanzo head on and Lanzo yells her out and refuses to give her proper directions to Kasimir's office. So Sophia is forced to resort to drastic measures as she summons the spirits of long dead Panzer officers to aid her. But coincidentally Lanzo isn't too far away when she attempts this and so Lanzo witnesses the whole thing and is appalled by the fact Kasimir was so careless to let a witch into Panzer and marches off to Kasimir's office as Sophia takes a shorter route and gets there before Lanzo but she gets there in time to hear Lanzo complain to Kasimir about his thoughts. Lanzo then leaves the two in peace and struts off angered but not without throwing Kasimir and Sophia a dirty look before leaving. Perhaps a movement portending Lanzo's eagerness to overthrow Kasimir. Sophia is given a invitation to have lunch with Kasimir later in the day but first Sophia thinks it is a good time to have a visitation with the doctor.
Sophia ventures back to the lab but finds it empty so she suspects that the doctor will come back but she is oblivious to his true whereabouts as she seats herself on a medical bed and lays down waiting. But she doesn't know that the doctor is watching her curiously in the shadows of his laboratory, observing her closely as if she were rare specimen after he had discovered some interesting attributes about Sophia's bloodwork. He surprises Sophia by appearing out of the darkness and after exchanging a few words he gets to work on running more tests on Sophia. He then shamelessly yet innocently asks Sophia to remove her clothing for a thorough examination and Sophia seems uninterested in the idea and tries to take his mind off it but he is persistent, so that winds up in Sophia making a conversation that brings back some unwanted memories of Ravaillac's past. Sophia realizes her mistake and brings him back to reality as she fulfills his request by partially removing her clothes to show him that her body appeared not too different from a human's. After getting a ultrasound of Sophia's body he finds that she seems to be to be something almost close to his perception of the perfect human which it is his quest to create.
After that Sophia returns to Kasimir's offices to join him for lunch, but right on cue they are interrupted by a mysterious phone call. . .
----------The breaking of the ice between Panzer and the Blackguards----------------------
It appears the mysterious phone call was made by Sculliford in a attempt to threaten Kasimir and the Panzers a whole. Sculliford makes several threats, many of them being a direct aim to finish Kasimir off and to knock Panzer off their high pedestal but in particular brings the matter to Kasimir's attention as Sculliford threatens to get his wife and children involved. This angers Kasimir but Sophia with her inhuman sense of hearing witnesses the whole conversation and takes the phone from Kasimir, the move annoying him in the process but act of authority brings unwanted thoughts to his mind that reminds him of his wife Renate when he see looks at Sophia. He regrets it feeling such things towards the young woman since he is married and with Sophia being at such a young age. Over the one Sophia dares Sculliford to take a hit at her instead of Kasimir and back talks Sculliford without much of a thought. But this act strikes up some unpleasant memories as Sophia is forced to reveal the reason why she was so bold which results in Sophia almost breaking out into tears as a compassionate Kasimir is forced to take the phone back from her and finishes the conversation up. Sophia overwhelmed at moment then calms down almost as if nothing happened leaving Kasimir as a nervous wreck as he hurries to warn and make his family safer over a couple of phone calls but Sophia manages to get him to sit down and eat lunch.
But a simple luncheon doesn't go without being eventful in Panzer.
A childish giant of a man, Ambrosio Vidal enters Kasimir's office and requests that he get permission to transfer to a different wall instead on the one he was currently stationed at. Along the way Sophia entertains him with a few tricks and Kasimir okays the proposal. But Kasimir could only know so little about Ambrosio and the secrets he unknowingly holds.
--------------------- Mission: take out the top dog--------------------------------------
The Blackguards rally up as Sculliford explains their new top mission. A mission where it is planned that the blackguards would take a car caravan up to the location of Panzer HQ and hopefully give Panzer a scare and take out Kasimir Schmidt in the process. But Sculliford could not expect to carry out such a mission without the help of a friend in Panzer. Lanzo, the high ranked officer had already conducted a deal with Sculliford. In exchange for the removal of his rival Kasimir, Sculliford got to terrorize Panzer as he wished and got a free ticket inside HQ. Many soldiers are rallied up to come along including, a young elven woman by the name of Quorra, the lead and only medic in the Blackguards. She did not want to come personally but she was forced to come. Along the trip she begins forming a relationship with Sculliford who has taken a liking to her.
When they arrive at Panzer it is nighttime, Kasimir, Sophia, and everyone else are mostly asleep or up doing the nightly rounds. But the south gate is easily breached when Lanzo assists in helping to clear the stage for a safe entrance by the Blackguards. The door opens and the Blackguards spill in as some lock into combat with some of the guards that are still left at the south gate. However Lanzo is betrayed as Sculliford knocks him out goes about a new plan. Instead of killing Kasimir himself, he brought a friend with him to do it instead. The son of Kasimir himself, Croix who despises his own father. Along with his goons, Banon and Hendricks, they breech the building and make their way up the many floors slowly but they are oblivious to the fact that Sophia had already woken up earlier and was trailing them. Soon the four realize Sophia was there and she starts out the fight with one blast of flame but it is deflected by Croix when it is found out that Croix is party pixie, meaning that he could absorb Sophia's simple spells without trying. Sophia is shocked to learn her trick didn't work and she is left to fight Banon and Hendricks on her own up the stairs and floors. They fight a brutal battle and on the way Ravaillac is caught in the middle as he get his jaw punched in and he winds up passed out while Sophia was still being chased by the goons.
Sophia later catches up with Sculliford who along with his goons gang up on Sophia but Sophia isn't going down easy. Earlir Croix gave chase to his father after he found him wandering the halls, Kasimir and Croix were then locked in a battle of cat and mouse as Kasimir refused to fight his own son but remarkably Croix lets Kasimir go. Back on Sculliford's end whoever Sophia is in the midst of one of her powerful spells as Sculliford and his goons are forced to leave even though Hendricks and Banon still want to end her.Sophia then later wanders off out onto a balcony and finds Sculliford speaking to Croix. Croix later turns on Sculliford and attempts to stop his breathing as Sculliford is put into a headlock and left there passed out on the ground. Meanwhile at the south gate, the panzer soldiers the blackguards were attacking later turn into some strange creature that created by Faust, the leader of the Blackguards secretly after he makes a connection with them through some sort of power, it appears Faust is up to something. The beasts attack the Blackguards and the normal Panzer members alike, causing alot of damage and wounded. Making Quorra work double time to fix up her fellow soldiers but she chased away when a man threatens to shoot with the wounded around, making Quorra leave the scene of battle.
Sophia becomes interested and has thoughts of taking Sculliford as a prisoner as she waits for Croix to leave and jumps down to revive and bind Sculliford up. After some charismatic persuasion Sophia ends up letting Sculliford out of his binds but not without hitting him across the cheek and placing a curse over him so he couldn't escape but he still follows her around as Sophia runs towards the heat of battle and later ends up in running into a fleeing Quorra after Sophia winds up pinning her, threatening her, and questioning her. But Quorra's timid nature lets her give in easy to threats especially when Sophia pointed a gun at Sculliford's head to make Quorra talk.. Later Sophia then enters field of battle as Sophia summons a pair of giant glowing serpents that aid her in the destruction of the strange creatures that plague the battlefield. But it doesn't take long for Lanzo to notice and suspect her as he comes running to pursue her.
When Lanzo finds Sophia he forces her to surrender and takes Sculliford and Quorra prisoner as he questions all of them with means of deadly force or threats. Which winds up in Sculliford being severely injured and almost dying after he is shot int he stomach. But with a little help from Quorra, Sculliford manages to survive. On the other hand Sophia isn't so lucky as Lanzo takes her position, safety, and her office quarters awake in a attempt to belittle her and to put her in her place as a common soldier. It works well especially when Lanzo has his entire troop aim their guns upon her. Kasimir is assisted in escaping Headquarters by a young soldier by the name of Alastor Trios and Kasimir later makes his escape and is pronounced AWOL by Panzer. The rest of the Blackguards who still have some sense in them draw out of Panzer and return home after Banon gets enough of the battle, especially after his long time friend Hendricks dies as a result of the strange creatures attacking and Croix lies to him that Sculliford may be dead and Banon overwhelmed later forces the Blackguards to pull out.
Sophia later is given the job of helping to clean up the battle field and her quarters as Lanzo makes a phone call with his superiors in high hopes that maybe he would be promoted to Oberst in Kasimir's place. Meanwhile Sophia finds a bed to sleep in the barracks of the female officers, a far cry from the cozy bedroom she had not too long before when Kasimir was around but as long as Lanzo couldn't bother her, she was okay with it as she turned in for bed. Sculliford and Quorra are later thrown into the brig with Sculliford still passed out and the two are beaten by the soldiers who escorted them completely for sport. Later on when Banon returns to Blackguards HQ, he will have to tell Faust in Sculliford's place the result of the mission, even though Faust knew most of it already.
A wealthy young woman by the name of Sophia Morcerf who's nationality is unknown grabs the attention of Panzer authorities when she single-handedly defeated a well known German Officer after he insulted her to such a point that she killed him and burnt down his estate in little more then a hour without lifting a finger.
