Since the moon shines due to reflection of the sun, the powers of the moon-moon fruit are weakened by being distanced from the Sun-Sun Fruit user.

{Sunny} Samantha, or Sunny, is always cheerfully bright, ditzy and sometimes, just plain stupid. She always sees the good in people- and only the good. She doesn't like to fight and is stronger with social skills, preferring to settle things peacefully. Sunny is what most would call "a natural born leader"- she always knows how to take care of a situation; even if that means stepping down and taking one for the team.
{Luna} Alexandra, or Luna, is always quiet, mature and wise beyond her years. She's constantly suspicious of the people around her, and has trouble accepting that "all people have some good in them" (so says Sunny). While she seems hard to relate to, rude and mean, Luna's soft spot is for her sister, Sunny. Unlike her twin, however, Luna's skills lay in fighting, rather than social skills.

Biography
Alex and Sam were born on two separate days, yet only an hour apart. Samantha was born on July 25, Alex July 24. They were identical twins, from their nose to their height and weight. Their parents had been expecting the pair, luckily, and had their room decorated accordingly; two cribs on the opposite sides of the room. However, the pair didn't sleep for a week; the minute they were lain in their separate cribs, the tears and wails sounded. After that, they figured it out; the twins didn't want to be separated. So, you could say, they were inseperable from birth.
Mr. and Mrs. Tarpe could easily tell that Sam and Alex were as different as day and night. When they were old enough to play with the neighborhood kids, Sam was the leader, Alex the strong and silent hero. Should Sam find herself being bullied, Alex would show up and roll her sleeves up; by the time they were ten, bullies knew that was a good sign to run. It was also around this time, when Alex found a good friend. His name was Dante Drake, and while all the other kids of the island looked down on them for their family's occupation, Dante seemed like he didn't care at all. Of course, Alex was always Sunny's muscle, and apparently, Dante liked something about that. They made a promise- something she looks back to as something stupid kids do. He said that he'd grow to be stronger, and become the next Pirate King. Alex called him an idiot, and said, "you have to be stronger then me to become my king." When he told her he'd make her his queen, she got her first kiss... along with the funny sight of a boy running away blushing.
Ten was a turning point for the twins, though. Since they were young, life had been easy and fun, but things soon started to change. Alex and Sam knew about their parent's jobs; they were scientists. Researchers of something called the 'Devil Fruits.' Their business was shady, and often someone strange would visit the house. Sam and Alex got used to hiding up in their playroom, ears pressed to the door to hear even a little of their conversation. All they ever heard was 'dangerous' 'reckless' and 'powerful.' So, Sam and Alex took the devil fruits to be some sort of terrible evil; something their parents must've been fighting with all their might. They never really questioned it until one day, a visiter came that their parents, apparently, didn't want to see. Mr. Tarpe ran to the twins' room with two small chests. Without a word, he handed a chest to each girl and started packing their bags quickly. Alex asked frantically what was happening; Sam was in shock. Mr. Tarpe handed them separate suitcases in addition to the chests and kissed their foreheads. "I want both of you to take the supply boat and get off this island as soon as you can. You can do what you want with those chests; sell them, keep them, use them- I don't care, just RUN!" While unsatisfied and terrified, the girls were forced from the house and into the boat. The line tethering them to the docks was severed, and they were set loose to brave the sea. Sam was distraught. She limply cried into her older sister's chest, hiding her eyes and blinding herself to what was happening. Alex was the only one who looked to the island for answers, and she- to this day- is haunted by what she saw.
A large marine vessel was docked, marines surrounded their home. A large man was aiming what was unmistakably a pistol at Sam and Alex. Before a shot could be fired, Mr. Tarpe dived in the bullets' path.
After a half day and whole night of floating listlessly, Samantha let her curiosity get the best of her and opened her chest to see a bright orange fruit with swirled patterns and a twisted stem. Around the fruit was a silver necklace with a sun on it. Sam, without a second thought, ate the fruit. She said it was terrible, but it was food, and Alex should eat hers too. Alex, depressed from what she'd seen, said nothing, but ate her own fruit. Immediately, the older twin fainted. A good three minutes later, she started showing signs of fever and dehydration. Sam struggled to get her sister in the cabin and did her best to get water into her system without drowning her. Alex woke up at sundown- the precise moment Samantha collapsed in her seat. The next two days went like that; the twins couldn't talk to each other until twilight and dusk, and even then it was short sentiments. Their boat finally docked (on Sam's watch) and the twins learned they were wanted by the marines. A helpful shipwright took the girls under his wing, nicknaming them "Luna" and "Sunny" to fool the townspeople as to their true identities. As for the twins, they were growing different each day. Luna's hair darkened from chestnut brown to a deep purple. Sunny's hair lightened from exposure to the sun. As much as they hated to admit it, they were growing apart.
Their tale turns even more towards tragedy when marines learned of their identity at age sixteen. The shipwright that'd cared for them was shot on sight, and while both twins were shot at and stabbed, they didn't die. Together, Luna and Sunny escaped on the same vessel they arrived. Fleeing from civilization and coming once more to the sea, Sunny and Luna made a pact at twilight the next day. "We'll become pirates! We can do what we want and fight back!" Luna, predictably, agreed. Their dream intensifyed when they decided they weren't going to be just any pirates, but Pirate Kings! While they hardly ever saw each other, the bonds between Sunny and Luna were unmistakable. The twins would die for each other, and that was that. Already out on the open seas, the twins jumped from island to island searching for able crewmates.

- Nikko Nikko no Taiyo Shomeidan (Sun Sun Solar Flare): A powerful move where Sunny draws the energy of the sun into a large, reckless blast. It's hard to control once unleashed, thus Sunny doesn't often use it.
Nikko Nikko no Hi Ryu (Sun Sun Fire Dragon): Sunny draws the energy of the sun to create a large serpent. Despite the name, the creature does not breathe fire; it is very hot when touched, yes, but that's all. The dragon, once created, is controlled completely by Sunny.
Nikko Nikko no Safa (Sun-Sun Surfer): Sunny makes a surfboard out of sunlight which she can control to hover around; any loss of concentration, however, would quickly mean the disappearance of the board and Sunny would fall down go boom.
{Luna's} Devil Fruit Techniques
- Northern Star: Ivory Spear: solidifying moonlight, Luna makes a large, white spear to fight with.
Full Moon: Hydra: Much like Sunny's 'Fire Dragon' technique, Luna uses the energy of the moon to make a large three-headed dragon that she can control at will.
