So, I haven't really run into this situation yet, but say a guy was to ask me out, not knowing I was gay. It would be logical to tell him (or her, if you're a gay man) you're not interested, but how would one go about this? -_-;;
I've always thought it would be kind of awkward to straight out say "Sorry, it's not because you're a bad person, it's because I'm a lesbian."
Any thoughts?

I just ask them up front if they like me or not, and (most of the time) they say yes, to which I respond with, "To be honest with you, I don't recommend that you develop feelings for me unless you have a v****a, breasts and a cute face."
Then they just stand there like, " surprised "
...yup.

Any thoughts? way easier then the whole "You're really nice but you're so physically unattractive that I don't even want to talk to you" that I've dealt with I never said that out loud but there have been 30+ year old overweight men who have propositioned me, I just say "No thanks.... "

This hasn't happened to be personally, but it happened with my gay friend Dustin.
With the same girl.
About thirty four times.
In the same month.
So...it was the beginning of the Drama Troupe season and we were doing Dracula for out fall play. Well...this girl, let's just call her...B. She was literally ALL OVER DUSTY. Every day. He'd always tell her: "Hey, B, I'm GAY."
She didn't know what "gay" was.
So...then Stephanie, my bestest friend <3, screams at her one day: "DUSTY LIKES d**k!!!"
That was an amusing day at D Rehearsal.:3 ~L

I tend to leave it at "Sorry, we're not compatible."

Depends on how well I know the guy. I had a guy that I was sort of friends with ask me out, and I just replied with a "dude, you're great and all, but you've got these extra bits between your legs that I have no interest in." On the opposite end, a guy that I hardly knew asked me out and I just gave him the "Sorry, you're not my type." line (he asked what my type was, and I just said "female". Otherwise I just leave it at "not my type.")

To be honest I'd just say "Sorry, I'm into women." or if its a guy saying it "Sorry, I'm into men."

I'd be shy about it. xD I think it's kind of jerkish to say, "No I'm gay."
I'd probably beat around the bush. Use some circumlocution. (:

I think I'll just beat around the bush, or something. It's hard when the guy is just a really nice guy and you don't want to make him uncomfortable.. -_-
