✖ Setting ✖

The setting is the Himalayan mountain range, Kangchenjunga, located in Nepal. The area in which we find Zenos and Sakuya is blanketed with snow and undergoing blustery winds.

✽ Story ✽

After getting a lead on the location of his sister from someone he met in Sweden, Zenos has been joined by Sakuya in Nepal where the two got a better lead on her location by being told a tale of a mysterious girl that bore a striking resemblance to him being frozen in ice for over 400 years somewhere up in the Himalayas in this area. This lead him to try this mountain range, followed by Sakuya who tagged along, saying this would be their first real "date." With the promise of certain things, he reluctantly agreed for her to accompany him. Meanwhile, tasked with tracking Zenos' movements ever since his release from prison, Kenpachi Koudo is tailing Zenos, along with Eriko and Yori whom were forced onto him by Kazuhiko.

Malchut Sephira - Being of Lowliness

Zenos tugged at his jacket, pulling the sleeve down to his wrist and then put his hand to his silvery hair, raking it back into place. The reason he was dressing in the middle of the day was because Sakuya had begged him that they stop at the last inn for miles so that they could have relations. Something about having sex on the ground turned her off or something; it was nothing he could fathom, being that he slept on a bed of solid rock every night. It was not as though he was going to argue though, if it got him sex. He stopped immediately in the middle of putting his pants on, looking up at Sakuya, who was brushing her hair. He recalled how he used to be a man who went where he want when he wanted, and had sex wherever the hell he wanted without having to listen to the opinions of his partner. A single word fell from his lips when he realized that he had become a whipped puppy who listened to Sakuya simply because it got him sex. "s**t..." He wasn't entirely sure when it had begun, but he knew damn well he wasn't going to let it keep happening. However, his "whipped puppy" instincts kicked in and, fearing she'd turn to see him staring daggers in into her manipulative back, he vanished and reappeared facing the other direction so quickly that it was like reality had been changed for an instant to turn him around without the necessary movements. Rightfully so, he was only transparent for a split second, a single frame on a video, as it were.

Feigning ignorance, he pulled his pants all the way up until he realized that he was still doing it, the thought leading him to fly off the handle and punch open the wall before him, taking out just about all of it in a single punch. It was rare, of course, for him to act on his emotions. "Spider." He simply said in monotone and a blank face; his "excuse" for punching the wall down. Without paying anymore attention to Sakuya, he quietly slipped out of the room and traversed the hallway on the other side of the door, then went down the steps into the "lobby" below. The Inn was rather shoddy and poorly maintained, not that he expected much considering they were up in the mountains in the boondocks. But, as usual, it was not something he was concerned with, especially given his preference for sleeping on hard surfaces; the bed last night was downright uncomfortable, and had he been able to experience pain, he'd probably be having some bouts of back pains right about now. He was out the door without care for who saw it open and close on it's own, and stepped out into the snow. He had left Sakuya high and dry because of his earlier problem of being a whipped puppy, maybe seeing him walk out on her in such a manner would teach her not to mess with him like that.

In hindsight, there was a possibility she'd just get pissy with him, but it was a chance he was willing to take. Pocketing his hands, Zenos took to the air with a leap, and jumped up into a nearby rock formation, landing gently on top and maintaining perfect balance. He paused, not to enjoy the sun or anything weird like that, but instead the shut his eyes and scan the surrounding area for anything unusual on the spiritual level. As usual, his senses were in tiptop shape, even more so that his body was rejuvenated once more; he used an intimate healing technique with Sakuya frequently. It was something he had picked up from a Chinese harlot during his earlier years, and it was a technique that allowed him to regain his energy through sexual contact, similar to the existing benefits the act provided. While probing the mountainside with his Pesquisa, he picked up a surprisingly low level of hollow activity in one certain area, about the size of a village, and he also noticed a structure in the center of this area that his Pesquisa was unable to penetrate. His eyes slid open, knowing that he had found what he was looking for, and turning around at the sound of a foot in the snow, he saw Sakuya with a sad puppy face and her arms folded across her chest, looking saddened. He cast her a blank look with a small smile, but showed no emotion beyond that; he figured she was trying to manipulate him into feeling guilty for leaving her, but he wouldn't let her. "I found her."

...and thus the world is petrified.

Sakuya hummed lightly to herself as she brushed her hair. She still had yet to dress herself beyond her undergarments. The crash of the wall behind her startled her and she instantly tumbled off the bed towards the wall, grabbed one of her swords, and turned around, preparing to draw it from her kneeling position when she saw it Zenos who had knocked down the wall and not some Shinigami assault force. “Well if you were also trying to put me on edge as well, mission accomplished,” she complained with a sigh. She took another deep breath while she stood up and turned to place the sword back against the wall. She was still racked with adrenaline, but it was slowly going away and as it did her mind slipped into how she could get Zenos repay her for startling her so.

A flash of inspiration later, Sakuya turned around with another of her weapons unsheathed: a seductive face and body language.
“You know...now that being startled has me all worked up, I could really go for a nice rock hard man to give me all he's got and then some to calm me down again.” Zenos, however, was nowhere to be found after having silently taken his leave already. In his place was the hotel, for certain stretched meanings of the word, manager who had come to investigate the crash. He had heard what she said and assumed she'd been talking to him. The man was short, fat, balding, and greasy in ways even a fast food worker couldn't imagine and probably hadn't felt the touch of a woman in years, much less have one of Sakuya's caliber say something like that to him. Sakuya realized the look in his eyes meant that he had indeed mistaken her seductions to be aimed at him and that was confirmed as he started hungrily moving toward her. The manager may have thought this was his lucky day, but the fact that Sakuya was now slightly angry and hungry was a definite sign of his unluckiness. She smiled temptingly as she beckoned the man closer to her with a finger. Once he was in range she wrapper her arms around his neck and moved in as if she was going to kiss him, but before the man could ascend into physical heaven he would find himself in the literal one as Sakuya suddenly grabbed his head with both hands. Her eyes then turned completely black and her mouth opened wide as she literally sucked the life out the man and devoured his soul, leaving only a lifeless husk behind which fell to to floor with a thud.

Satisfied with her meal, even though the man's soul tasted just as greasy as he looked, and slightly less angry with Zenos for disappearing on her, Sakuya walked over to the closet and grabbed the clothes she had chosen specifically for this expedition. Normally they would be strewn on the floor, but they had special meaning to her and she had insisted on hanging them up before engaging in coitus. She had stolen them a few months back from a museum in Kyoto that was going to put them on display with a series of other Nobunaga relics. The reason why she stole it was a simple one: it belonged to her mother. The outfit was a custom made Reima Clan kunoichi armor that her mother had tailored before a series of missions into the northern regions of Japan. The best thing about the armor was even though it was very seductive in design, it was also functional. The thread it was composed of was imbued slightly with Reishi by Reima mystics giving it a slight Heirro-like property and the secondary function which was more important to her mother then and Sakuya now of taking a portion of the user's Reiatsu and converting it to heat. While the Heirro ability which could only stop attacks from humans was useless to her, Sakuya applauded the temperature control ability. No matter how cold the external temperature was, the immediate area up to an inch away from her skin would always remain at a comfortable 70 degrees despite the armors scant appearance. The only thing she didn't like about the armor was the heels, much preferring her own boots, but they would have to suffice for the time being.

She returned her attention to finding Zenos after getting dressed. A grid search of the area found him standing on a rock formation no doubt scanning for the sister they were here to find. Still a little upset with him she decided she would tease him a bit by pouting and pretending like he had hurt her feelings by leaving so suddenly. When he turned to face her she unleashed her attack, but his lack of reaction let her know he had been prepared for her attack and had his defenses ready. Defeated she simply smiled and nodded before saying,
“Pretty exciting. Won't be long before you two are reunited.”

Kenpachi Kōdo

11th Division Captain

Picking his teeth with a particularly sharp bone, Kōdo exhaled a sigh smelling highly of meat and ale. He had just polished off a full course meal courtesy of some poor unsuspecting shopkeeper in the area, and was looking down at the two Sephira atop the cliff he was perched atop. Yori and Eriko were off his right, jabbering about girly things or something else he wasn't interested in, which only served to annoy him, not that having to sit around and wait for the two Sephira to finish doing the nasty was any more enjoyable. During this time, he had looked at Eriko and suggested the two of them do the same, a statement that was met with a disgusted look and the following silence that left him to go off in search of food to avoid any more of her looks.

After three or so hours, he was finally granted reprieve from his boredom when he saw Zenos exit the inn, followed later by Sakuya, who approached him quickly. Koudo tuned his hearing to see if he could hear what Zenos was saying, but failed to do so due to the distance. Now he was quite ready to attack them, very bored with waiting around. He made up his mind and jumped up quickly, then grabbed the two gabby girls, then growled orders to them before tossing them over the edge of the cliff. "Test 'em out for me." Of course, he already fought Sakuya, but he knew little about Zenos since he refused to ask anyone before hand. He didn't want to have the upper hand too quickly. They dropped, screaming, before righting themselves and landing on the ground a ways away from Zenos and Sakuya. The two drew their blades, holding them out in front of them. Both were prepared to fight, but they were still pissed at him for tossing them over the cliff.

Malchut Sephira - Being of Lowliness
Πετρώστε, Αρχαία Γοργούς
Petrify, Ancient Gorgon

As per usual, Zenos didn't break his emotional mold when she offered kind words, and instead found himself smelling something unpleasant upon her. He only caught it due to the changing wind, but when he did he found himself nearly retching at the thought. He immediately knew what it was, the innkeeper's smell was strong around her hands and putting that with the thud he heard earlier, he knew what she had done. "That's disgusting, Sakuya. Save the kiss of death for someone who won't make me unlikely to approach those lips of yours again." With a nearly visible shudder, he shook his head in her direction and extended a hand to her so she'd come up to where he was. His gesture fell short however, when he caught the familiar sound of girlish screams and two sets of feet landing in the snow a few yards away from them. Ever so slowly he turned his head to meet their individual gazes, lowering his hand as he did so. "I was wondering... when you... would make your move." Amusingly enough, the mere presence of another person, or rather two persons, made him switch to broken sentences. He wasn't entirely sure yet if Sakuya had noticed that he spoke in full sentences with her, proof he was comfortable with her; if she hadn't, he certainly wasn't going to say anything.

After staring the two Shinigami females down for several seconds, he let his gaze float up to the cliff they had been tossed off. He could see that Koudo was sitting atop it, staring down. Zenos understood immediately what his intentions were, and closed his eyes as he moved to rub the back of his neck. "So be it..." Zenos wavered in place, moving his right foot forward a few inches ahead of his left and opened eyes to reveal a stone-cold gaze. Two rings, one for each eye appeared in front of his pupils, giving birth to two rapidly moving beams of light that struck the two of them square in the forehead before either of them could so much as budge. Exhaling a sigh, he watched with a bit of amusement as the both of them began to freak out and struggle with their rapidly-petrifying heads before they both suffocated as their necks hardened and the effects spread over their whole bodies. Once the petrification was complete, Zenos was gone from his spot and appeared behind them, holding both of his hands in front of his body, the right at eye-level and the other just above it, having just swept them through their torso's. Behind him, the two statues shattered from the force of his swing, sending chunks of rock in every direction and killing the two in an instant.

...and thus the world is petrified.

"Well I wouldn't have had to if someone hadn't abandoned me without any warning," Sakuya replied. That said, she was sure Zenos wouldn't have to worry about her doing that again. She wasn't sure how, but the man's soul tasted as awful and greasy as he looked. It was not an experience she wished to have again anytime soon. Just the thought of it required her to hold back a gag. She turned her attention back outward to Zenos just in time to notice his gesture, beckoning her to approach.

Sakuya moved to take a step forward, but the sudden addition of female screams turned her attention elsewhere. She had long suspected they were being followed by Shinigami, but unlike Zenos she didn't have the expertise to pick them out while they we're masking their reiatsu and affirm her suspicions. Now however she had evidence that her battle senses were still sharp as ever. She didn't notice Zenos had begun to speak in broken sentences once again as her attention was focused solely on the enemies that had appeared before them. She place a hand on the hilt of her katana and was about to ask Zenos which one he wanted, but before she could he had already dispatched them with hardly any effort.
"Well that was a bit anticlimactic," she spoke with a sigh as her eyes drifted back up the precipice from which the two had come. It was at the top she saw another figure. One that she instantly recognized, that of Kenpachi Kodo. She had been beating herself up over letting him catch her off guard in their last fight allowing Zenos to be injured and had been craving a chance to redeem herself and take his head.

The adrenaline instantly kicked in and her pupils dilated, her muscles tensed, and a decidedly maniacal smile graced her visage. She had trained herself to use a weaker unreleased version of her Moonlight Bala since their last battle and she would unleash it now. Not directly at Kodo himself, but at the cliff he was perched on. Utilizing the blade speed she was known for, Sakuya drew and unleashed two Crescent Bala. The first was a horizontal strike to separate the cliff and hopefully throw Kodo off balance and the second was a vertical strike meant to bifurcate the large chunk of cliff that would be descending upon herself and Zenos causing it to crash down harmlessly on either side of them.

Kenpachi Kōdo

11th Division Captain

Sneering as Zenos turned his attention upwards at him, he tamed his impatience if only to see what Zenos was capable of. Hands on his knees and crouched down low, Koudo gazed over the edge of the cliff and watched as the Sephira petrified the two women and vanished before his eyes to break them apart with simultaneous strikes to their chests with his forearms. "Brilliant." He was seething with excitement at the prospect of fighting such a tough opponent, and not even that whelp that had tried to kill him a while ago was going to change that. He would, however, deal with her first. His reflexes allowed him to take easy notice of the attack that Sakuya had sent towards him, or rather, the cliff he was sitting on. He merely eyed it lazily, however, and instead of jumping out of the way, he remained seated, even when his seat was separated from the rest of the mountain face. He could feel himself falling along with the cliff and even when he started to lift off the "ground" during the descent, he still remained stationary. Half a second later, it seemed, another attack came his way, cutting the falling section in half with him still sitting on it. Normally it would have cut him right down the middle had he been a weaker Shinigami, but his Hierro dispersed the attack as soon as it hit him, and down he fell.

As the broken section plummeted towards the ground, he began to stand up, and finally drew his sword at half way down. the falling section blocked his view of them and vice versa, so he was quick to swing the blade multiple times in rapid succession, slicing the section to pieces and thwarting her attempt to keep them out of harm's way. He did not know this was her intention, of course, but instead used it to simply make the battle field more chaotic. As the pieces began stabbing into and landing on the ground below, Koudo seemingly vanished into thin air and moved to Sakuya's left side. He was already firm in stance as he appeared to the naked eye, and had switched his sword to his left hand, bringing it right towards her stomach with a wide swing, but let go of it at the last second, causing the blade to slip away from his hand to skim across the surface of her stomach and move to the left side. As he released it, his form was quickly replaced by an afterimage of sorts, not unlike Tenmetsumi, but slightly different. He appeared to her right side, at her back and had already caught his sword by the blade and was in the process of delivering a hard kick to her lower back when he came into full focus.

"Tch, annoying," Sakuya said as Kodo sent veritable hailstorm of stone at them by slicing up the remains of the cliff face. She didn't even bat an eye and nonchalantly fired a cero with her left hand, pulverizing the rocks that were falling towards her while letting the others fall wherever they fancied. She also opted not to worry about Zenos for the moment as she was more than sure a man of his prowess could handle some falling stone in favor of focusing on Kodo's movements. When he vanished, she knew an attack was coming, so she readied herself to defend by lowering her sword so the tip was just past her left foot. As Kodo appeared she would draw her blade back to the right, cutting a Garganta in the process as was her modus operandai. She would then move into the Garganta, which closed the second she had moved completely into it, using Gemeles Sonnido leaving behind an afterimage of herself to appear to take the full brunt of of Kodo's assault.

As the clone attempted to parry Kodo's attack to no avail, getting cut in the process and wincing as if in pain, the real Sakuya emerged airwalking upside-down 150 meters above her clone and Kodo. She took a deep breath and instantly jumped off the platform with all the force she could muster allowing her to reach a terminal velocity of 75 meters per second almost instantaneously, the wind was deafening and she knew from practice it was also nearly impossible to breath at this speed which was why she held her breath as she fell.
Gonna have to time this just right, she thought. While she fell she used a rapid Segunda transformation knowing full well she wouldn't vanquish this beast without going all out on him. She hated using a rapid transformation, though, as it didn't instantly spread her pollen to it's max range and meant that she would have to wait before it the battlefield would be fully saturated with her primary death trap. 75 meters. From her vantage point she could see Kodo now appearing behind her clone in the process of delivering a kick no doubt meant to do vicious damage by sandwiching her body between the force of the kick and the blades edge. The kick wouldn't land though as the clone would dissipate, having served it's purpose. As she observed the attack that was meant to incapacitate if not kill her she charged her blades with cero, but these would not be her normal cero blades. A need to kill this man to redeem herself to Zenos meant that she was not going to toy with him and her blades carried the undeniable black energy of Cero Obscuras as she fell ever closer.

Now! Sakuya had waited until she had fallen within 10 meters of Kodo from above then opened another Garganta which she fell into. As so as she was swallowed into it, four others opened around Kodo in the shape of a plus sign directly to his front, back, left, and right. A fifth one also opened directly above him in the exact same spot as the first. From each Garganta a Sakuya would appear, all reading their blades for a pass that would allow them to attack Kodo from the right. Only one of them was real obviously with the others being more Gemeles clones, and though the one from behind seemed the most likely choice due to the rookie notion of it being a blind spot, the real Sakuya was the one approaching Kodo from the front. Each direction could land a potentially debilitating strike, what with the combination of extreme speed, twin Cero Obscuras blades, and her own strength, but she chose too come at him from the front simply so she could have the best angle for hitting his diaphragm and lower gastric system. Her twisted little mind wanted to watch Kodo die a slowly through suffocation or bleeding out while covered in a mixture of his own blood, urine, bile, and feces. You won't get the glory of a warrior's death this day, neanderthal. You will suffer and die like b***h, she thought as she reached striking distance and unleashed the attack.

Kenpachi Kōdo

11th Division Captain

The clone dissipated, and the amused Kōdo glanced from side to side as if to review his options. He noticed Sakuya's transformation, and pieced it together with the attack she had used against him in their last bout. He wasn't about to allow a repeat of their last fight and began to project his large Reiatsu outward across the area, using it to disperse the pollen that Sakuya had tossed around the field before it could enter his body. As it spread, it blew away the inn that had just stayed in, sending the wreckage tumbling for a good distance before it came to a halt. Those that lived in the other houses in the village came out to see the damage, and could only wonder what the cause was. Kōdo flashed a manic grin, there were five coming at him from all directions except below. "Hoh, which is which...?" His eyes flicked to the right with a shot in the dark, and he whipped his sword around, the blade of which was still in his hand, in order to smack this Sakuya upside her head. His guess turned out to be wrong as he was struck in the upper body by the Sakuya in front of him, her attack carving an X in his torso before sending him reeling backwards. He was knocked a good ways backward, into a nearby house that collapsed as he struck it, the second floor falling on top of him. He vanished in the wreckage and nothing came from him for quite some time, he simply lay in the wreckage, barely holding onto the tip of his sword.

He was quite for the moment, the point-blank attack had done a number to his body this time around, and he was barely breathing and perfectly motionless. All of this changed roughly three minutes later when the wreckage around and on top of him was lifted and shot into the air by a pillar of pure white Reiatsu. Within the light provided by the pillar, Koudo rose to his feet, collecting his bearings while taking his sword handle in hand and standing fully erect. The pillar disappeared in an instant and his muscles suddenly bulged to near-ridiculous proportions, their new size making his sword look like a stick in comparison to the rest of his body. He did not know why or how, but he could feel that several changes had overcome his body, and he felt even more powerful than before. His sword weighed nothing, he felt as light as a feather, and the wounds littered across his body, soaking his robes in blood, didn't even register to him. Feeling the power now coursing through his body, he began to laugh slowly, his upper body jumping with his laughter. As soon as he was standing completely upright, he threw his head back and moved his sword hand to his face, palming the right half of it as he shouted to the sky. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" His manic laughter continued for a moment or two before he quieted down in an instant and dropped his hand to his side. "Magnificent!"

He looked down at his sword-wielding hand and the rest of his visible body, flexing the now bulked-up muscles of his upper and forearms with a clench of the fist. A grin spread across his face and he lifted his head, but not completely, gazing up towards his forehead to look at Sakuya, then turned his gaze onto the approaching Zenos. He was gone in an instant, his speed surpassing that which had been seen before, and the earth cracked where he stepped, leaving a tell-tale sign of where he had been. He flitted across the snow, closing the gap between himself and Zenos, arriving at the man's location before he had a chance to put those reflexes of his to good use. Kōdo skid to a halt and leaned into a punch with his left, delivering a bone-shattering blow to his sternum. He put so much power behind it that Zenos would be lucky if his upper body from the neck down wasn't blown apart. At nearly the same time, Kōdo whipped around and landed a back kick to the Sephira's chin, causing a shockwave at the point of impact and tossing the man several hundred yards away. He crashed into the side of the mountain they had been planning to climb up, embedded a couple of feet into the rock as snow slid down the mountain face to close the gap.

He was gone in another instant, bum-rushing Sakuya from the front and slamming his body into hers like a quarterback. It was nothing short of an eighteen wheeler plowing into a convertible; the damage wouldn't be minimal. In his haste to put the girl down for good, he clutched at her throat with his free hand and slammed her into the ground, pinning her down with his hand and knee on her upper thigh. "What was it girlie? Shithead was I?" Inverting his grip on his weapon, he drove the tip into her stomach, stabbing through her hollow hole and striking the ground below them, cratering it and causing the both of them to sink down about three feet. He grinned, then flicked his hand to the side, slicing her from navel to flank so her guts would spill out and dye the snow red. Even though he was the type to drag out a fight in order to enjoy it, he found himself dead set on killing her for reasons he was unable to explain. He abandoned his blade while pressing his thumb down onto her windpipe to asphyxiate her, but even still, this did not feel like enough. "Ah, you can regenerate, can't you? Regenerate this, b***h." Bearing his teeth, he drew his hand back and made a fist, then snapped it forward, aiming a devastating punch to her sternum, which given his current level of strength, would blow her entire chest apart, killing her instantly.

Keter of Faith

[Hakase Yashiki - Manor - Senka's Room (Year 2113)]

Zenon could hardly believe what this girl was saying; they were going back in time to "stop" a terrible disaster, and they were going on the same day his mother was killed, no less? Moving his fingers to the bridge of his nose, he pinched and rolled the skin there, exhaling. "Girl, how did you expect me to take this information?" He looked up, but Senka did not return his gaze, she had taken to looking around her room, specifically at the shelf her stuffed animals were sitting on. He had been in the little girl's room for over twenty minutes now, listening to her explain everything from time travel to Intemporel. He barely understood it, he hadn't even heard of it, but the one thing he understood was the date and the time travel factor. Zenon slumped forward and put his elbows to his knees, burying his face in his hands. He had to do something, he had to join them somehow, but in secret; he couldn't possibly let those annoying Shinigami know he was tagging along. Silence ensued and Zenon stared at the floor while the inattentive girl preoccupied her thoughts with many other things. She finally saw his posture and broke the silence. "You can go, if you want. You will, won't you? Of course you will; I can tell that something happened on that day and that it's important to you. The day that... our 11th Captain died. Were you the one to kill him, I wonder?" Senka smirked over a her teacup as he sat up abruptly, eyeballing her with an expression that was border-lining on rage. She had struck a nerve, obviously. "It's time for my nap, you may go." She waved her hand towards the door, prompting the silent Chachamaru to open it and bow as the angry Sephira hustled out of the room and vanished around the corner.

[Sokyoku Hill (Year 2113) // Sokyoku Hill (Year 2013)]

That was several months ago, now Zenon sulked on the sidelines as the multiple players in the big fight were sent back to the past by their 5th Division Captain, Masashi Lee. The 40 minute wait between transfers was killing him; he was more than ready to get going. However, being impatient would only get him angry, so he diligently waited until the last person was gone before sauntering towards Lee, who was out of breath and physically drained. He said nothing, and only sat down in front of him cross-legged, gathering suspicious looks from those that were here to see everyone else off. The stares and feelings of animosity more than likely had a lot less to do with the fact that he was an Arrancar and a lot more to do with the fact that he was Zenos' son; they were probably imagining all that Zenos had done to them in the past. He could feel their eyes boring into his neck and back, but he did his best to ignore them all, waiting until Lee was ready to transfer him. He said nothing as the space around him began to get hazy, and only looked on as time rewound itself around him. In the blink of an eye, he witnessed 100 years of history in reverse before he was spat out in the Seireitei, wedged between two circular runes that placed him in the same place he had started in. Unknown to him, everyone was showing up all over the place, but it seemed that with the last transfer, Lee had managed to do it perfect this time. Zenon took in the sights of the older Seireitei and felt around to gauge the relative levels of the Gotei 13's opponents. They were strong, but he did not care, his purpose for coming back had nothing to do with the Seireitei. He snapped his fingers and vanished into the newly formed Garganta mere minutes after arriving.

[Human World - Himalayas, Nepal]

Stepping from the Garganta, he was met with an intense cold, prompting him to immediately released his Zanpakutō without a word. Heat filled the air, turning the snow at his feet to slush and staving off the frigid air. He probed the mountainside quickly, and located his mother, father, and Kōdo quite quickly. It seemed like Sakuya was weakening, so he had to move quickly. He vanished in a flash, and silently sped towards the fight. Zenon, a spitting image of his father and carrying his mother's eyes, appeared in a whirl of intense flame, just as Koudo was about to deal the killing blow to Sakuya. He flicked out his left hand, and a massive sword took form around it. He grasped the bar inside the sword and flicked it to the side as he stepped forward, severing Kōdo's right arm at the elbow as it began to descend towards Sakuya's chest. As soon as the cut was made, the broadsword vanished into thin air, and Zenon spoke up, his words laced with fury and his expression harboring an intense hatred. "That's as far as you go, barbarian." Zenon extended his hand, and flicked his pointer finger towards the Shinigami, creating an ornate, flaming spear out of thin air that closed the gap between them in the blink of an eye. It struck it's intended target, the Shinigami's left leg, just above the kneecap, and lodged itself inside. It cauterized the wound it created instantly, and the smell of burning flesh filled the air. Zenon lowered his hand to his side and pocketed it, watching the captain struggle get to his feet and stumble away from Sakuya. "You will not be killing my mother today." Taking a step forward, the young Sephira narrowed his eyes and flung his arm forward once more, this time creating a surge of high intensity flame that struck the Shinigami in the chest with significant force while burning away at his body simultaneously. A few more steps later and he was nearly hovering over Sakuya, whom he glanced down at. This was his first time seeing her, but he could tell right away who she was from her eyes. His father had tried to describe her once but eventually gave up, saying that words did not do her beauty justice. Unfortunately the time for a reunion was not now, so he glowered at Kōdo, waiting for him to make his move.

Come forth, undying flame of the underworld.

Malchut Sephira - Being of Lowliness
Αναζοωγόνηση: δεύτερο βήμα
[Resurrección: Segunda Etapa]

Looking skyward, he watched the falling rocks with a monotonous expression. A sideways glance told him that Sakuya had taken care of those that were in danger of hitting her, and as fluidly as she had dealt with them, he one-upped her in an instant. Merely lifting his hand towards the sky, he extended his pointer finger and turned them to dust with little effort. He dropped his hand as he was showered in dust; a minor nuisance at best. Immobile, he turned his gaze upon Sakuya, watching her out of the corner of his eye as Kōdo attempted to attack her and she countered with her own. As funny as it might have been for the Shinigami to lash out at the wrong clone and take her attack head on, he remained expressionless and stayed observant. Silence ensued, and just before the pillar of Reiatsu was formed, Zenos could immediately sense that something was wrong. Then, the wreckage was blown into the air, and the Shinigami rose from the ground, now sporting bigger muscles. Zenos could feel that he had somehow become stronger, but he could not explain it. He momentarily slipped into a state of worry for Sakuya's well-being and turned to face them. Zenos had only taken one step when he lost track of the Shinigami and what felt like a 747 plowed into his chest, breaking nearly every bone in his torso in the process.

Staggering, the Sephira did everything in his power to stop himself from falling over, which turned out to be wasted effort when a second strike from Kōdo caught him in the chin and sent him flying away like a ragdoll. The air pressure acting on his body was so great that he couldn't right himself in mid-flight, so he quickly crashed into the side of the mountain that they were trying to scale. The snow on the mountainside shifted and slid down to partially cover the Zenos-shaped hole that he lay in, groaning. He certainly couldn't feel the pain, but Kōdo had hit him so hard that he was still loopy and needed a moment to shake it off. Zenos opened one eye to watch as Kōdo plowed into Sakuya and grab her by the throat before forcing her to the ground. His upper lip twitched in annoyance at the sight of this and he attempted to move, his body would have it another way, unfortunately. As he gritted his teeth in frustration, his nostrils suddenly filled with the smell of Sakuya's blood, which could only mean that she was wounded. He suddenly felt like she was about to be severely hurt, or worse yet, killed, and forced himself to enter Segunda Etapa. His bones quickly mended and returned to normal allowing him to move once more.

Just as Kōdo was prepared to deliver the killing blow, he yelled "No!" while pulling himself from his hole. Zenos was just lifting his hand, intent on making the ground swallow Kōdo hole and move Sakuya away, when someone appeared in a whirl of flame and severed Kōdo's arm without hesitation. Zenos could only watch motionless from where he was standing while Zenon attacked Kōdo twice more and referred to Sakuya as his mother. He was confused, to say the least, as this kid was claiming to be Sakuya's son, yet he knew nothing about him. It was something he expected Sakuya to mention over dinner or something: "Hey, I have a kid," anything would have been nice, really. As he drew closer to the action, he saw to his astonishment that the newcomer looked exactly like him, from his face to his clothes, except about five years younger. If his knowledge of genetics meant anything, he was sure he had to be a relative, but Zea was the only living relative he knew about, and it was unlikely he had a younger brother that was still alive. His mind fell on the infant they had left behind in Hueco Mundo, and he tried to piece it together to no avail. The only answer was that this boy was Zenon, yet it was impossible; the child was barely a month old.

...and thus the world is petrified.

The sensation of her blades sinking into Kodo's chest gave Sakuya a homicidal sense of satisfaction, but she wouldn't let guard down just yet. She remembered all to well what had happened the last time she had injured this man to such an extent and she had no intention of a repeat performance of that day. Her eyes stayed firmly locked onto the pile of rubble that lay on top of him. As time passed she began to wonder if her assault had actually managed to fell the beast, and considered unleashing her obscuras at the pile if only to finish him off for good. She decided against this, however, as she would rather watch the man bleed out as recompense for her embarassing defeat and Zenos' injuries by his hand. "The mighty warrior left to bleed out under a pile of garbage. How fitting a death for trash such as yourself," she goaded smugly as she began to walk closer to the pile. She didn't care if he could hear her or not, the goading was as much for boosting her own ego as it was causing him despair. Since that day, she had always wondered if she was a burden on Zenos by causing him to be hurt. Now she had was on the brink of rectifying that mistake and proving herself worthy to be by his side.

Sakuya suddenly stopped moving toward the rubble when a strange feeling rose in her stomach. She couldn't place it, but it was terrible. Then, much to her surprise, the rubble pile exploded skyward in a pillar of Reiatsu. As the pillar dissipated she realized what the feeling was. She was sensing the man's Reiatsu pressure. It had become so unbelievably massive, that it reached a level unrecognizable to her. His pressure wasn't the only thing that had become massive as the man himself was physically imposing. Sakuya tried to fight the pressure with her own, but even with the aid of her Segunda, her movements were still muddled as if she was trying to move through molasses.
she shouted as the man screamed his enjoyment over his new found powers.

The now hulking Kodo disappeared in a flash, and Sakuya's eyes struggled to find where he had gone. By the time she saw him again he was already delivering a devastating punch to Zenos' chest followed by a jaw shattering kick.
"ZENOS!" she screamed as she watched the man she loved fly off and slam into the mountainside. Her battle sense and training screamed at her to worry about Zenos later and focus on herself, but the irrationality of love wouldn't let her do that. She was preparing to go after him when she felt her ribs breaking. Not just one or two, but all of them, causing her chest to loose it's shape. W-what hap-happened, she thought as she coughed up blood. It was only when a hand clutched her throat that she realized Kodo had slammed into her full force. The next sensation she felt was the cold snow on the back of her head as the man forced her to the ground and pinned her there. Struggle as she may, the pain of her injuries and his strength could not be overcome by her waning strength alone. Her breathing was extremely shallow and labored, and she started regenerating the damage otherwise she would surely suffocate. As she focused on healing the Obscuras on the blades simply evaporated harmlessly as black smoke.

It was taking all of her willpower to keep herself from panicking. Her vision was blurry, but she could still make out the man stabbing his sword towards her abdomen. Shortly afterward she felt a wet slightly pained sensation as she was cut open followed by more pressure on her neck making it impossible for her to breath anymore. Kodo said something, but all she could hear was muddle growls as if she was underwater. Her regeneration had slowed to nearly a halt and her Reiatsu pressure was dropping fast. As she struggled with what she knew were her last shallow breaths, Sakuya watched the man draw back to deal the final blow to her. The pain from her injuries was already gone as her organs were beginning to shut down and she felt as if she was sinking even though she knew she wasn't.
This is how it ends for me, huh? Just as well, if I can't fell one Shinigami, I don't deserve to be with Zenos or Zenon. She closed her eyes, or at least she thought she did when in actuality her vision blacked out with her staring into the sky, as twin streams of tears rolled down the side of her head into the snow where they froze. Sakuya was ready to embrace death, her only regrets being that she wouldn't get embrace Zenos one last time or to be there with Zenon as he grew up.

The pressure suddenly stopped, and Sakuya was finding it easier to breath. She still couldn't move or see and any sounds came as nothing more than muddled growls. She could, however, smell burning flesh and feel heat.
Hah! Seems I have done too many misdeeds in my life and I am bound for Hell, she thought will a sense of comedic acceptance, completely unaware that she had been saved and her body was slowly but surely repairing itself with her regeneration abilities.

Malchut Sephira - Being of Lowliness
Πετρώστε, Αρχαία Γοργούς
Petrify, Ancient Gorgon

He kept his eyes trained on Zenon, for the most part. He was still astonished by the boy's arrival and appearance. Not only did he look, impossibly so, like Zenos himself, but he had shown up in a place neither Zenos nor Sakuya had divulged to anyone. He couldn't have done so even if he wanted to, ending up here just happened as part of their search. He hadn't planned on it, so he certainly couldn't tell anyone. Sure, the Shinigami had gotten here, but they had been following him, and he could smell them the whole time. Zenos did recognize Zenon's odor, but it had not been around until just now. It was curious, but not something he needed to distract himself with.

Zenos' attention moved quickly to Sakuya when he heard her steadied breathing. He slipped past Koudo, who was staring at Zenon, with relative ease and lowered himself to one knee when he was at Sakuya's side. He placed a finger on her wound and appeared to mutter something song-like in his native tongue while he pulled the digit across the wound, causing it to turn to stone to halt the blood flow. He knew she was weak, possibly too weak to regenerate before she bled out, so he had to help her on her way. Fortunately for both of them, the solution to their problem was about two miles up the mountain. Zenos moved his hand to her cheek, giving it a little pat, and then rapidly moved from that location to about a 100 feet away. He moved her with him, and set her on a stone bench that had just popped up out of the ground as if by magic. Then, turning away from her without a word, he began to scale the mountainside, one Sonido-enhanced leap after another. It was a mere forty seconds when he made it to the height he wanted to be at, and another fifteen when he finally reached the village and cast his Seguna Etapa form aside.

As he approached the peaceful settlement, he was spotted by a guard, who was instantly taken aback by his appearance and quickly called for the other guards to come see. By the time he arrived at the wooden arch — the only break in the crude gate that completely enclosed the village — there was a throng of people of all shapes and sizes waiting for him. Unaware of what they were doing, he intended to walk right past them, but stopped in his tracks when an older woman, who was dressed in rags, reached out towards him, giving him a toothless grin. "It is you, you've finally come after all these years! Oh, the heavens have finally answered my prayers!" She sounded full of girlish excitement, a sentiment shared by most who conversed amongst themselves as he gazed upon them, mild shock appearing on his face. He was surprised, and rightly so, for he had not been expecting so many people in one place to be able to see him. He quickly reasoned that the presence of Zea and years of exposure to her energy had probably awakened their ability to see spirits. Nonetheless, it was troublesome; he did not like crowds, and was hoping to be able to slip in and out unnoticed. What was more was that he was wasting time.

"You... can see me..." He spoke in his normal, "bored stiff" tone, shifting his gaze back and forth from villager to villager. Where he viewed them as minor nuisances that he normally would kill, they seemed to be treating him like a most important guest and a deity of sorts all rolled into one. Some, mostly women and younger men, sank to their knees so as to worship him. Unfortunately for him, this only made him more uneasy.

His uneasiness was soothed a few seconds later when an older man with long, gray hair and a matching beard pushed his way through the crowd, hobbling towards Zenos. His appearance was a stark contrast to the other villagers as he looked to be of English descent, rather than Indian. He stopped, leaning into his walking stick, and Zenos got a good look at him. something about the man reminded him of his own grandfather, especially the way he stroked his beard as he gave the Sephira a once-over. He seemed to pause to consider something for a moment, then fumbled with his pocket to retrieve a pair of spectacles that he slid onto his face. Zenos followed his eyes as the elder lifted his head to look through the bottom of his glasses and into his face, curious as to how long this was going to take. "Hrm... Remarkable. The resemblance is uncanny." He began in a soft, raspy voice. "I take it then, you will be freeing her post haste? Is there anything we can do for you before you continue?"

Zenos paused for a moment, eyeing the rest of the villagers surrounding them with a hint of unease still lingering in his eyes. The elder, who was too wise for his years, caught on to this fairly quickly and waved a bony hand to signal their dispersal. "Now, now. Give the man some air, lest you wish to provoke the wrath of the Gods!" He rose his voice at the last bit when they didn't move immediately, raising a shaking fist and furrowing his brow. As the throng pulled away from them, muttering amongst one another, the elder gave him a crooked smile. "Eighty-seven years old last month and they still don't obey me without question. A pity..." He paused, his mouth hanging open a bit, then bowed as low as his body would let him. "My apologies, this isn't the time for small-talk. I am called Soloman and I am the eldest of our village. It's quiet and we like it here, but as you can no doubt see," he made a motion to the dirty clothes he was wearing, and then to the village behind him. "we are not exactly what you might call, "well-to-do." But, all of that will be neither here nor there, once you free our Goddess from her icy prison."

As he rattled on, Zenos half-listened while taking a look over the elder's shoulder at the village behind him. The village was unnaturally dark, surrounded on all sides by thick trees that barely let sunlight in. Snow was sprinkled across the ground in thin layers, bald spots present beneath trees. The buildings seemed to have been constructed out of stone and a cement-like substance, where roofs were tiled with something he could not readily identify. Crude it was, yet unarguably effective, he thought. He was pulled back to the conversation when the old man mentioned an icy prison. He knew Zea to be frozen in ice thanks to the man he had met during his travels, but this person was talking about a Goddess; the last time he had seen his sister, she was far from that. Yet, he was also being called a God as well for some reason. "I don't know what you're talking about." Muttering, Zenos ignored the potential service the elder had offered, only curious as to what he meant by freeing someone. "I'm only here for my sister, not whatever image you humans have chosen to worship." Blunt, he was, yet Soloman seemed to take his abruptness with a grain of salt and humbled him with a hand on his shoulder.

"Then, our Goddess must be the sister you speak of." Assuredly, Soloman steered Zenos down the beaten path towards the center of their village. Feeling unnaturaly comfortable with him, Zenos did not swat him away or get upset, but merely watched his face as he kept explaining. "You see, long ago, long before I came to this village in my youth, a girl identical to you suddenly appeared in the village square overnight, encased in ice. Try as our forefathers might, the ice would not give, and they gave up hope of ever freeing the trapped girl. They accepted her fate, and went on with their lives! But then, after many moons, a wandering sage spun them a tale of how the girl was actually a deity, and that once freed, she would bless our poor village until days end. It was said... that her rescuer would look just like her, so the village people waited patiently. And, little by little, things got better; the winter seemed less harsh, and the attacks from wild animals ceased. Of course, naturally their faith was secure, so they continued to worship her, passing on their ideals to their children and their children's children, until it got to those you see before you today. Thus, it seems that today is the promised day, you are here for her, aren't you?" With that, he stopped in his tracks and waved his hand towards a block of ice in the middle of the square. Zenos moved his eyes to it and, stunned, continued to walk as her felt Soloman's hand slide from his shoulder.

The old man's story seemed a million miles away. Likewise, the wind in the trees, the snow crunching beneath his feet and the various noise-making from the villagers that had followed all sounded like they were being blocked by earplugs. His heart skipped into his mouth: he came to a stop in front of Zea's prison, feebly reaching out to touch the ice which held her. "Zea..." Touched for a moment and no less, he withdrew his hand and composed himself. Soloman sidle up next to him, his hearing had somehow survived old age. "Zea, is her name? It sounds Greek, but a fine name it is. Alas, 'tis certainly more fitting than the title we have given her over the past four hundred years." He gave the Sephira a wise smile and clapped him on the back when he caught Zenos' blank look. "Hah! Of course you don't care what I have to say. Carry on, then." With that, he hobbled away to a safe distance, waving the others away with a bony, withered hand just the same.

Out of the corner of his eye, he mercifully waited until the old man was out of harm's way before he reached out and placed a finger on the cold ice. His sharp nail, which was often used to gouge stone, was unable to scratch it. Suddenly, a flash of light was emitted from the tip of his finger and clear blue became dull gray as the ice was petrified. It started from his finger and spread out, encompassing the entire block within a dozen or so seconds. "Hoh!" Soloman grunted, impressed by this display of ability, and kept his focus. Without warning, Zenos pulled his hand back and stabbed it into the stone. Multiple cracks quickly formed at the impact point, and spread to burst the stone into a thousand tiny pieces. From her seat high above his head, Zea fell into Zenos' waiting arms, who stumbled backwards and landed in the snow. All was quiet, and all eyes were on Zea; they awaited what was to happen next.

She stirred, shifting herself slightly as she blindly tightened her fingers around Zenos' sleeves and arms. Her face unknowingly buried in her brother's chest, Zea mumbled something unintelligible that not even Zenos could understand, despite being fluent in the language she was speaking. He was quiet, simply content to allow her to awaken on her own time. Eventually, she blinked her eyes open and was met with the sight of blurry shapes all around her. Again, she mumbled something, and this time Zenos understood her. He put a hand on her head and stroked it like he might a cat, causing a warm sensation to shoot down her back that appeared to do wonders for her as she suddenly felt more energized. Finally, she shut her eyes tight and blindly felt for Zenos' shoulder before gazing up at his face; she did not need to see him to know his identity. "Zenos..." Her voice was soft, dulcet, and full of unspoken happiness. She lifted her face up and kissed him on the cheek before hugging him tightly, having missed him greatly over the past 1,000 years.

What seemed like ten minutes later, Zenos was carrying Zea piggy-back style towards the arch in the gate. He had already confided in Soloman that his reward would come later, and that he had something more important to attend to, time being a rather large factor. Soloman had agreed, being of the opinion that they could wait a few more hours after all this time. The other villagers, however, did not share his sentiments for they were not informed. They assumed they were being betrayed and abandoned; some cried, and others wanted to get even. Most of those who were looking to get retribution were persuaded against it by loved ones who reminded them of his power. One unlucky individual, however, followed him to the gate and tried to grab onto Zenos' arm to stop him from leaving. Zenos was already turning his head when he heard Zea sleepily incant, "Κακό μάτι του παγετώνα." and was able to look back just in time to see Zea touch the man's forehead and turn him into a human icicle in an instant. He looked stunned at this display of power, yet he kept on walking.

"How'd you do that?" He finally asked when they were a couple of yards away from the arch. "Zanpakutō..." She responded lazily, burying her face into the back of his neck. All in all, that response came unsurprisingly to him; he figured that if she was like him — a vampire/hollow hybrid — then it stood to reason she had sufficient enough power to wield a Shinigami's weapon, just as he. "Mmm, that feels nice." she let out a little sigh and wiggled her rear which was being supported by Zenos' hands. Having a bit of a brother-complex, she was content with nearly any form of physical contact; something as presumably intimate as his hands on her butt was like sex for her. Zenos rolled his eyes at her audacity; he figured that after all this time she would feel differently about him, but it seemed like once they had been reunited, she had picked up right were they had left off. He felt a pang in his chest when he thought of Sakuya, and how hard Zea would take the news about their relationship. It was enough to make him feel guilty, but he pushed that aside with a shake of his head. "I see you're still the same as before." She lightly chuckled in response before responding with a quiet "Yeah, I guess so..." and drifting off into a light sleep. Zenos, with nothing left to say, broke out into a full run towards Sakuya's location, which eventually petered out and became a Sonido.

[Honestly, I imagine the elder sounding exactly like Dumbledore...]

...and thus the world is petrified.

Kenpachi Kōdo

11th Division Captain

It was too close. He was just delivering the final blow, the one that would have offed the girl with ease, when he was so rudely interrupted. The boy he had kicked aside shouted for his lover, and Kōdo turned his head to sneer. That second of arrogance was costly: he paid for it with his arm. The unfamiliar feeling of steel slicing through his forearm was alarming. Naturally, he had not felt in it years and for a brief moment his eyes reflected fear. He turned and saw to his horror that his discarded arm lay in what used to be snow, now a puddle of water. The sword had melted his wound shut, but the heat was transferred to both halves of the whole. Now he was privy to his burning arm, and looked to the see the disfigured stump that was almost unrecognizable for it's blackened, melted skin. It was odd, he thought, to see the arm in this state yet unable to comprehend the pain it should cause. The burn was so bad that it was painless, yet shocking nonetheless to look at: He'd never sustained such damage before.

The next injury came quickly, as though the first wasn't enough. He felt the flaming spear penetrate his leg, just above the knee, and nearly fell off the girl. It had cut open the femoral artery, but had cauterized it so blood loss was not possible. He looked for his attacker, and thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. There stood who he thought to be Zenos, yet he knew he was still behind him. "What manner of-" He was cut off, struck by a surge of flames that lifted him off his feet and tossed him onto the ground several dozen feet away. His clothes were now rags, blackened and charred. He stumbled to his feet and tore them from his upper body, exposing his chest. He looked into the glowering face of the opponent who had harmed him not once, but three times already. All of this in a period of less than a minute. He cleared his throat and spat onto the ground; by this point his wounds were inconsequential, things he was already ignoring.

The boy was younger than Zenos, he saw that now, and he had also called Sakuya his mother. It was strange, yet Kōdo was not concerned with such things. He relocated himself quickly and mid-run (which was invisible to the naked eye) he crouched and began to slide along the wet ground, his waraji like ice skates. A path quickly cut through the snow in a straight line some dozen feet from his origin point, and it passed over his sword, which disappeared suddenly. The path continued, curving to the left, and stopped where Koudo showed up twenty feet behind Zenon, on all fours (technically threes at this point) like a beast. By this point, Zenos was now running away, having moved Sakuya away. "Running away!?" He shouted. Then, he darted forward at top speed, bringing his sword across his body, aiming it to slice Zenon's head off his neck.

Keter of Faith

The Shinigami made his movement a fraction of a second before Zenos did. What happened next was almost a blur. Moving around his left, Kōdo slid behind him and grabbed his sword; Zenos moved over Sakuya at his right, petrifying her wound. Immediately following this, Zenos moved Sakuya to a safer location. Kōdo's subsequent remark, "running away!?," set off his temper instantly. He was enraged; to imply his father was scared was completely undermining. He had no time to return the favor before Kōdo came up behind him, removing his head from his neck with a swing of his sword. It fell to the ground with a plop, his eyes flicking towards Kōdo's location. The head vanished in a whirl of flame, and white flames erupted along the surface of the bloody wound. Within seconds they had formed a perfectly new head in the old one's stead. He turned back ever so slightly, now wearing a psychotic grin upon his face that showed all of his teeth.

"Φλογερός αιχμαλωτίζων!" Swiftly he jerked his hand upward, summoning a multitude of fiery ropes that sprung out of the ground. Whipping madly, they surrounded Kōdo as he attempted to escape, and wrapped themselves around his limbs and neck. The Shinigami struggled against the burning ropes, which were quickly raising his body temperature, and a close look revealed that he was quickly winning the fight. Zenon was calm; enraged, but he felt completely in control of the fight. Just as Kōdo broke his right arm free, he attempted to swing his blade at Zenon's face. The sword passed through it, but as before, white flames spread across the wound, returning it to normal.

Zenon quickly pushed off the ground with his foot, propelling himself back and up into the air where he raised his right hand. He rapidly agitated the atoms in the space above his hand, and when they ignited, he gathered them into one massive ball of flame. "Σφυρί του Θεού πυρ!" Waiting tentatively, Kōdo held his sword out, and Zenon threw his hand down, dropping the flaming sphere on top of him. Kōdo took a swing, using his overwhelming speed and strength to create a vacuum that then tore the sphere into two equal halves. The halves dropped on either side of Kōdo, rapidly evaporating the snow all around him.

Zenon moved swiftly under the cover of the steam, and touched down on the ground somewhere between Kōdo and Sakuya. He dropped to one knee, moving his left leg out in front of him. Extending his right arm, he spread his fingers and held the base of his forearm with his right. The temperature began to rise quickly, and he began an incantation. "Τὸ συμβόλαιον διακονῆτω μοί, ο τύραννε φλογός!" Zenon said. His words seemed to echo; it was as though his voice was duplicated and then layered over itself; it sounded eerie. Kōdo attempted to move the mass of steam with his Reiatsu, trying to get a better view of the field. It was to no avail; he remembered suddenly that his Reiatsu was gone in exchange for his incredible speed and strength.

Still, the temperature rose, and the wind began to clear the steam. "Ἐπιγενηθήτω, φλόξ καθάρσεως, ῥομφαία φλογίνη!" Zenon rose, sliding his foot back and pulling his right arm backward, bending it at the elbow. Flame erupted from his palm, spiraling tightly twice before extending outward like a whip. The strand of flame quickly branched out smoothly a number of times before terminating in loose spirals. Emitting a dark orange glow, Zenon extended his other hand. His voice continued to echo along the mountainside. "Ῥευσάντων πῦρ καί θεῖον, ἇ ἐπέφλεγον Σόδομα, ἁμαρτωλούς, εἰς χοῦν θανάτου!"

The steam had cleared and a complex circle of runes shone clearly at his feet. They were inverted, reminiscent of the runes that summoned Zenos' stone pillars. Even Kōdo, who was not versed in the art of detecting spiritual energy, could not ignore the rising power flowing from Zenon's body. He watched as the ground — now devoid of snow — began to flash-dry. The crust was rapidly being heated, all the rocks within were becoming molten. It took little time before Kōdo's tabi auto-ignited, forcing the Shinigami to jump up and out of his shoes in order to avoid burns on his feet. He barely made it, and that second's distraction was all it took for Zenon to launch his technique at him.

"Οὐρανία Φλόγωσις!" He bellowed. With a swing of his arms, a mass of super-high intensity flames materialized under the conditions Zenon had provided. A dazzling blaze of white flame appeared and converged upon Kōdo in an instant. The omnidirectional firestorm reduced him to fine ash in seconds; his screams of pain were cut short, and in a quarter minute, the flames had all but vanished to reveal the scene of a badly torched ground that would not sustain vegetation for quite some time. Zenon raked his hair from his face with a look of twisted satisfaction, and made his way back to the place where Sakuya lay. The ground made a slow transition from lifeless, to severely burnt, to dry, to moist, to covered in slush, and then coated with snow several feet from where Sakuya lay.

Zenon was just approaching his mother when Zenos appeared out of thin air and eased Zea off his back while looking around. He had felt the surge and didn't know what to expect when he arrived. Zea nearly fell over once she got both feet on the ground. She too was looking with amazement at the site of the battle. Then she remembered Sakuya, whom Zenos had mentioned during their trip, and saw that a portion of her stomach was gray and as hard as rock. Unaware of how to proceed, she looked to Zenos and asked him for further instruction. "Zenos, what do I do?" Zenos had had his eye on what appeared to be a nuclear warzone, and had then been studying Zenon for a moment; he jerked his head back to Sakuya upon Zea's prompt and bent over her to undo what he had done. He then pointed to the wound and simply said, "heal it." He then stepped out of her way and got in front of Zenon. "Tell me who you are." He demanded.

Zenon looked nervously at his father; his nerves were leaving him quickly. Preventing Sakuya's death had just radically altered his past. No longer lacking a mother's love and having no reason to wield such an unruly power for the sake of revenge, nearly everything about him was changing. His Zanpakutō vanished into thin air and for a moment he felt empty. Anger escaped him and was quickly replaced with compassion; he averted his gaze timidly to rove his surroundings for something else to focus on. A firm hand grabbed the front of his jacket, and he felt his feet leave the ground. Zenos' voice filled his ears once again. "I asked you a question. Why do you look like me, and your power is similar to mine, why?" Zenon hesitated before revealing his name, and then dove into a lengthy explanation of his origin and why he was here. Once he was done, he was lowered to the ground and released; Zenos took a step back and dropped onto a sizeable stone that he quickly procured. He rubbed his face with his hands and brushed his hair back, it was almost unbelievable.

Eavesdropping on this exchange, Zea leaned over to put a hand atop Sakuya's wound, which began to cool as she invoked her ancient rite. She transferred her power to the girl and the wound began to sew itself shut seamlessly over the course of the next minute. Steam poured from the wound during this process, and as she oversaw this, she was hit with a thought and wondered to herself how Zenos knew about her ability. She was sure she hadn't said a word to him about that aspect of it. She didn't have long to dwell on that for Zenon's tale was so amazing that it caught her full attention. She was keen to believe it to, and was about to ask Zenon a question but was interrupted when she noticed that her healing was completed.
