The Funeral of Pluto Eclipse
Although quickly refurbished, the signs of the attack still haunt the main hall. It was, however, the only place available. As such, it was fixed as quickly and properly as possible. From side to side and from front to back, foldaway chairs sit on the floor. At the start, only a small number of seats are filled, all in the front row; those close to the deceased, no doubt. Behind a coffin stands a Kadabra dressed in the funeral garb of a priest. The Kadabra bears a solemn expression, though he seems well acquainted with what was to happen. It is the funeral of a man who died for his country, but much moreso... his family. Those who loved him, those who cared for him.
Within the coffin lies the corpse of Pluto Eclipse.
The doors out of the main hall are all sealed, save for the entrance. Bright, warm sunlight streams in through the windows and door as people entered to honor the dead.

Atra && Lilium && Nova && Dew && Huey && LeonardIn the front row sat Nova and her crew. The roserade was silent, wearing a black cape instead of her usual yellow, looking down at her flowered hands resting on her lap. She had spent a good portion of her life dedicating every waking moment to the care of the Leafeon. Trying to grasp that he was gone was difficult. Dew floated beside her, tinkling gently, mournfully, as he sniffled back tears. For the Chimecho, most of his life had been spent around Pluto. Huey sat uncomfortably beside the two, here at the front because he was officially a member of Pluto's medical crew, but he didn't know the Leafeon that well. He had only been in the Kingdom for a week after all. Though he felt deeply for what had happened, he did not feel like he belonged. A large Salamence rested on the side of the hall, too big to fit in the area with the chairs. Some guild members might mistake him for his son Sherman except that he was much larger, the normal size for one of his species. His eyes were closed as if he slept, but if one came close enough they might see a streak of wetness down his face. With the rest of the Eclipse family one Flareon sat still, statue-like, his face like a mask. Atra looked straight ahead, over the coffin of his father, past the priest, beyond the statue of Jupiter that adorned the back of the hall. His tail hung off the back of the chair limply, his fur looking less rich and full than usual. Beside him sat a small shiny Cyndaquil, her usual crystal-studded headband replaced with black silk. She cried silently, rocking slightly back and forth. They waited for the ceremony to begin.

.::Stark & Rem & Luna & Geisha & Drift & Will & Mako & Siegfried::. The large group of Team Blacksteppe filed into the main hall, heads bowed in solemn respect for their fallen patron. Or, in Drift's case, simply bowed. Stark glanced sidelong at the silent Shedinja, and couldn't repress a snarl. "Why did he have to come?" he hissed to Rem, floating at his shoulder. Rem turned, then shrugged. "Honestly, he didn't- I just have no idea how to get him to stop following me.""Throw something shiny into a lake- that'll distract him.""Ssssshhh!" hissed Geisha. "Show a little respect for the dead," she whispered reprovingly. Stark and Rem shared a glance, but filed into their seats regardless. Stark, dismissing the awkwardness of an actual seat, sat just in front of his seat, looking solemnly at the coffin at the forefront of the hall, cradling Luna between his front paws as she looked sadly forward at the Leafeon's prone form. Stark gave a heavy sigh. I went my whole life without knowing him... and now, I'll never get the chance. He looked sidelong at Sieg and Mako. Sieg, of course, sat stock still, head bowed in respect to the fallen warrior. Mako, however, stared at the coffin with a sort of grim fascination that a legend lay before him- albeit one who was now dead. Luna snuggled deeper into Stark's chest, and he patted her gently, as he waited with his team for the ceremony to begin.

Morana && Incultyr && Chronicler && Crown && Acer && Crescendo Morana had been adamant on the fact that the entire team should come. They had been given the job of protecting the old Leafeon, and the houndour couldn't help but feel that she had been useless. Everyone else in the team had agreed. Second Chance closed for the day and Crescendo asked for the few hours off from hospital work to come here. Zora didn't want to come, until her mother showed up the day before and voiced her own intentions about going to pay her respects. Team Polaris made their way near the front, only a few rows back. Morana and Acer especially seemed very down, their heads bowed. Incultyr looked grim, his mouth drawn tight and his face locked in a frown. Chronicler was wrapped within her petals, over which she had draped a light black cloth. Crown fluttered down silently next to her. Crescendo rested between their seats and the seats in front, his head dropped sadly as he hummed mournfully. Morana's family sat beside the team. Zosee seemed distracted. She felt little for the Kingdom's fallen hero -death was too common a part of her life for her to mourn over a stranger- but she had come because Atra had come, and she couldn't deny the Flareon attendance to the funeral of his own father. The Manectric constantly checked beside her where Zero sat calmly, staring forward intently as if understanding what was going on. He was murmuring quietly to himself, words and sentences that did not fit the circumstances. On the other side sulked Zora, who sat in front of her chair gloomily, her ears pressed back flat against her head. Melissa && Katara && RandelMelissa came in heavily bandaged, having not recovered fully from her fight with the Charizard. One of her vines stuck out of the side of her bulb, too bulky with all its ointments and wrappings to be retracted fully. Katara and Randel found seats near the back of the room, but Melissa continued forward with the two grass-types that accompanied her. Her mother, Iria the Bayleaf cried silently, leaning against her husband, Galen the Ivysaur, for support. The three of them took seats near the front, right behind Atra. Melissa was surprised to see the Flareon, but did not say anything. She hoped that he was alright. "Oh, I just can't believe it Galen...I always thought he'd die peacefully, at home. But this is just too..." The Bayleaf murmured as the Ivysaur did his best to comfort her. The Azalea family always had a special spot in their hearts for Pluto- it was after all, the little eevee who had saved Iria many years ago. Aiden && Rebecca && ChristopherThe members of Team Trinity slipped into seats at the back. Aiden sat straight, solemnly as was expected. The other two sat much more casually. All three wore black armbands and left their weapons outside as a show of respect. "What an amazing story." Aiden commented softly, staring out at the sea of chairs. "I never would have thought the old man had it in him." Beka replied, a hint of respect in her voice. Anyone who could deck a Dragonite Chosen of God was pretty cool in her books. Christopher wasn't paying attention to the other two, more interested in keeping track of those who came in. The guild had definitely gotten bigger since they'd lived here.

xx xx xx xClaire & Andrew & Rani & Thomas Silently, one after another, Team Serenity came in and gazed at the hallway. Pokemon were already arriving and taking their spots, and they did the same, in the back rows of the lines of chairs. Instead of the normal team attire's they normally wore, most of them replaced the fresh red with black, or simply went bare. Thomas, in fact, had a few bandages wrapped around his head instead. An eerie silence hung above them all, even for Rani, who normally wouldn't be able to keep her mouth shut even if it were for a million dollars. They had their heads held low, in respect for their former guild leader, although they never knew him personally. It was a small guilt that carried over a few of them, for they heard that he was indeed a great leafeon. The fact that he alone had overcome the impossible to save them all, and the fact that the team hadn't even noticed, just made it all the worse. The strangest combination of regret, admiration, and sadness. Claire looked on to those in the front row. She couldn't imagine what his family would be going through, for the dratini had never lost someone very close to her. She prayed silently on their behalf for their healing. Rani started whispering to Andrew, the both of them starting to quietly and peacefully converse for once.

Era & Ethfael & Erinn & Sereni & Riley & Celus Team MistMelody entered, for once none of them able to walk with a smile on their face. By this time the story of Pluto's heroic deed had spread throughout the Guild; even though it had scarcely been more than a few days, important events spread like wildfire between Teams, and this was an important event to exceed all others. Pluto was dead; the Leader of the Guild of the Sun, the lifepulse and wisdom behind what they stood for, was now passed on into the Afterlife, to join his brother Jupiter who had died all those years ago. It was the gravest event to have happened, and no one except his wife and a select few others had even known about his sacrifice. There was nothing anyone could do once they found out, it was already over, and now they had arrived at his funeral. Era had insisted that all but the children come; Pluto was worthy of every bit of remembrance he was given, and she wanted to ensure her entire Team knew that. The group took their seats near the edge of the middle section so that Ethfael and Celus could take a place to the side since neither could really use a chair, the others simply made due with what they had.
As Era sat she mulled over what had happened in her mind, still stricken with grief; she hadn't known Pluto except by name and action, and she'd only really seen him around a few times before. Tears trickled silently down her cheeks as she pictured the last time she'd seen him; he'd had so much vigor although he was clearly getting on in years but it had seemed like nothing could ever bring him down. Now to think that his cold, still body was lying lifeless in the coffin before them was almost too much to bear. The story of his martyrdom was certain to go down in history; he'd lived his entire life helping the Guilds and his death had been no different. Pluto had taken an Elite down with him, taking into his paws the power of Judgement and ending the life of the Dragonite who had come for the Guild's pendants before the sheer power that it had taken killed him as well. It was the most heroic, most tragic, and most powerful thing that Era had ever heard of, and when she thought of it the tears came unbidden. They were bittersweet; the warm salt water of her tears both cleansing her tired spirit and scarring it as they came. The catharsis that came with his death wasn't the type that soothed the soul, it was the type that made it ache. The Pikachu felt as though her heart had split in two out of empathy for Pluto and those who had known him, but there was nothing she could do, and that alone made the mourning all the more painful.
Ethfael looked at the coffin stoically, paying his respects in a different manner. He didn't believe Pluto would have wanted them to mourn him; the Leafeon had always looked out for the Guild, and what the Guild needed now more than anything was to move on. Their former regal leader wouldn't want all this attention, but it was being given anyway. He was saddened, but he knew too well that excessive sadness would do them no good. It had to be treated as simply another death, there were countless others who had died and they hadn't been treated as such, true Pluto was royalty, but the Dragonair still felt that he wouldn't have wanted this. He couldn't pretend to have known him, but Pluto didn't seem to have been the type for large social events when Ethfael had seen him, and the Dragonair believed the dead should be treated as they would have wished to be treated in life. He bowed his head to await the ceremony, unwilling to break the silence that hung over them.
The remaining four members of Team MistMelody present knew less than their Leaders about the former leader of the Guild of the Sun, but they all knew well enough to pay their own respects to a brave Pokemon who had given his life for the Guild's own cause. Erinn closed his eyes and reflected on the situation, his expression deeply concentrated as he thought about what he knew of Pluto. Sereni's light glowed very dimly as the Lanturn shed a tear of her own, she offered a prayer that the Leafeon would be able to rest peacefully where he lay. Riley sat attentively, eyes on the coffin and firm though his tail drooped from sadnes as he awaited the start of the procedings, and Celus merely bowed his head in respect to the dead. They all were waiting to see their dead leader off, and wish him well in that strange life that came after death.

Reginald & Desdemona & Anastasia The three entered silently and sat in the far back row. Soon after the news flooded the guilds and teams, they had come to pay their respects.
Reginald, awkawardly enough, sat in one of the plastic folding chair that had been provided for mourners. He looked around; this hall had been torn apart so many times before... He focused back onto the coffin and decided to walk over and see if it was true; as if he wouldn't quite believe that Pluto was dead until he saw him himself. The man who was now in the coffin had died a hero; a legend. And he'd thought that his death would be quiet and peaceful, in the background where no one would know. He never really knew him, but then again, why should he have? After all, he was royalty, and Reginald himself... just a pawn, a tool. Someone to protect the king, die for him, but he wasn't there. Pluto looked sort of... peaceful. The last, and only time he saw him was at Christmas where he gave him the collar. He looked so stressed and weak then, but now he looked at rest. To see someone who was alive only a while ago just to see that they were dead now was... unnerving. It sent a chill down his spine. "Rest in peace," he mumbled respectfully to the now cold corpse, moving back to his seat.
Desdemona looked uncomfortably into the coffin. She hadn't known this person, but then again, who had? It seemed he was always away in his room, guarded by his hospital staff or something. But, still, he was part of the royal family and deserved some respect. At least he wasn't one of those high and mighty people who hid behind their soldiers, but instead he went and died for the rest of them. For his family, friends, and the guilds. That was nice... for him to do. Silently, she made her way back to her chair and sat down.
Anastasia sat glued to her chair. She didn't want to go over to the coffin. She couldn't deal with death; it was a scary thing, to her. Why was she there? She never knew him, she hardly knew of him. But he had died for the rest of them to live. Chase off all the other Pokemon that tried to seize the palace. Reginald and Desdemona returned to their seats next to her and they solemly and silently watched as other people walked up to the coffin to see the one who had died for them all.

x Ver --- Erudeca"Ver, I don't wanna go..." "Too bad. You helped fight, so you'd might as well. Sai's busy right now so she can't make it." God so help them when she realizes Darius is dead. Epitaph had made sure nothing was said about him prior and just to have the body disposed of. Sai was delicate, and the two trusted Epitaph more than anyone else. Deca's finned ears lowered sadly. This didn't feel good. This didn't feel good at all. The craziness the Ditto once held was depleted to nothing and somehow, the closer they got to the hall, the harder she felt herself crashing. Ver looked rather beat up himself. Though, quite more so physically than he did mentally. He looked annoyed, if anything.
The two Eeveelutions entered the hall slowly. Their steps almost had hesitation in them by the time they made it to the doorway. The duo stayed in the back, refusing to stray all that far from the door. They didn't need to get closer. Deca scanned the hall warily. She didn't see that Raichu from before here... xxxxxxxx xx Alice --- Taciturn --- Meter"Sorry I'm late..." Alice's teleport broke the silence the two shared. Her whispering voice almost drowned out completely as she walked over to the duo. Taciturn floated around the pink Ralts' head lazily. A Petilil remained behind her. Ver just gave a slight nod in response. Deca was silent. Alice's head turned toward the far side of the room. Eyeing the coffin. She felt her heart drop, being the emotionally in tune Pokemon she was. Her expression saddened dramatically from it's rather neutral state, and Ver caught on quickly. "If you need to leave early, we will."Alice nodded silently.
None of them knew Pluto, but ignoring something like this was downright rude. They were all fighting for the same cause after all... He just so happened to die doing so like many before. Ver's nose twitched with slight annoyance at the thought.

   Albus & Minerva & Lia
Albus sat quietly beside his brother, mirroring his disposition. Although normally the subtle things rendered them distinct, in such a time of grief all traces of individuality had been washed from the twin Flareon. If it wasn't for his slightly minced fur, it would have been impossible to tell it was Albus. Minerva herself sat, stoic, with a somber expression. Some of the grace and poise that was integral to her being had returned, but she was obviously still in a state of suffering. A small black veil covered her eyes as a sign of mourning. And, of course, Lia sat beside the small Cyndaquil. Lia cried quietly, in brief spurts, but held herself together as best she could.
 Tolin
The Scyther sat alone, in a sense; distinct from his team. As a leading member of Rebirth, he sat with those guild leaders and staff that had managed to attend. His team, barring Albus, sat elsewhere in the crowd.
     Puer & Sam & William & Laura & Serrin
The rest of Team Southern Cross sat in a group. The only members absent were the Porygon-Z (for obvious reasons) and the two Legendary pokemon. Both had only loose affiliations, and their presence was too disruptive. Apparently, one of the few things the Mew respected was the dead. The team was... sad, as a whole. Most of them, moreso, out of concern for the living. Albus. Lia. Minerva. All three of them were obviously torn over what had happened. All three were loved dearly by someone or other within the team. None of them team could really feel distraught over his death. He was a man to be respected and admired. But, the atmosphere took them in all the same, leaving the Togekiss on the verge of tears and the rest of the team not far behind him.

The Kadabra stood up at the microphone and once, loudly, cleared his throat. The small sounds and quiet words of the assembled group quieted in an instant. "We will now begin the funeral. At the request of those close to the dearly departed, we shall be omitting many of the prayers and practices normally associated with such an event in an effort to reduce the impact it has on daily life." The Kadabra paused for a moment, allowing people to hear his words and consider them carefully. A funeral such as this would, in many ways, bring the city and the guild to a grinding halt; as the leader, attendance would be high and a lengthy funeral would impact the city significantly. "Instead, those who were close to him shall speak of his life. Pluto Eclipse was not a public man; it is hoped that, through this, you may come to understand his trials." He paused for the briefest of moments to reference a sheet on the podium in front of him. "Now, then. Would Miss Nova please come to the podium?"

NovaNova took a deep steadying breath as she gathered herself. She stepped up to the podium and thanked the Kadabra quietly with a small bow. He stepped aside and allowed her to take the microphone. "I'll keep this short." She started, a little more abruptly than she would have liked. "We are all recovering from a great trial, and we had lost much more than just one. We honour the sacrifices of all who had fought, been wounded, or died, for our guild this last week."Nova felt her throat constricting and she coughed as quietly as she could to clear it. She was not a public speaker, and she did not feel emotionally ready to talk about the Leafeon. "I met Pluto long ago, when he was Second in Command to the Guild of the Sun. As many of you know, his health was poor and I was given the task of looking over him." She paused, trying hard to remember what she had planned to say. There had been too much; how could she possibly portray such a man with mere words? She had put down it down on paper, but it had all seemed so shallow and weak. What could she talk about? What could she say to make them understand? "I was...I held Master Eclipse in the highest regard. He was born the frailest of his siblings, but he never allowed it to get in his way. I always marvelled at how he fought, how he always refused to give up. I remember when I had been with him for only a few months, he fell extremely ill, an occurrence I would soon learn was not not so uncommon. But he did what he could through it, did not allow his illness to interfere with his love of his family, his concern for this kingdom..." And thus Nova spoke, trying her best to do Pluto justice. He had been a private man, and could seem cruel or indifferent, but he had always shown deep kindness and empathy for those that grew close to him. In fact, Nova couldn't help but wonder if Pluto's last act had been more to save his wife and friends than for the guilds. "...and thus, we say goodbye. We remember the man who had guided the kingdom with his wisdom in life, and kept it safe in death. May The Original One grant him swift entry to Heaven and grant him eternal peace." She ended several minutes later to soft echoes of Amen. She ducked her head as she walked back to her seat, unwilling to look up into the crowds, feeling frustrated by the inadequacy of words.

"Thank you, miss Nova." The Kadabra gave the Roserade the time necessary to return to her seat and a moment of silence for those contemplating what she had said. "I now ask the Leonard would please come to the podium." He looked over at the Salamence at the side of the hall.

LeonardLeonard opened his eyes at the mention of his name, and slowly got to his feet, with barely the sound of his wings rustling. He seemed to have fully composed himself now, and made his way up to the front of the hall, his claws making click-clack noises against the stone floor. He didn't bother to use the microphone at all, his strong, baritone voice easily carrying over the entirety of the great hall. "I am Leonard Victor. My family has served the Eclipse family for three generations. I was one of the head of guard at Pluto's mansion, along with the Gengar known to you as Thanatos. What many of you might not be aware of was that recently, a great Exploration Team was destroyed." He began, his voice firm and resolute. "When Master Eclipse had been but an Eevee, two great warriors were assigned to protect him. One was my father, the other an Arcanine named Ethan. They formed the Exploration Team known as Tartarus."The Salamence paused, looking across the room to see the lack of recognition in the name. Few knew that Pluto had, technically, led his own Team. "The bonds they formed were strong- strong enough to transcend death itself. Of one of the few missions the team took, they risked everything to save the life of a young Chikorita." In the crowd he could see a Bayleaf look downwards, avoiding his eye. "Those who had captured the girl were strong, too strong for the Team. Both my father and Ethan perished. But Pluto did not give up. He freed the girl, even as Ethan came back in the form of a Ghastly to escort the two of them to safety."Leonard allowed the crowd to draw their own conclusions. He was determined to tell the story of the Arcanine -later Gengar- who had been almost a second father to him. The Salamence felt the loss of Thanatos's presence more keenly than that of Pluto's death. "Few remember Pluto as a warrior, and maybe he isn't. But he had the spirit of one. His sense of duty, his great courage, his capacity for empathy, his decisiveness of action- he was truly a man worthy to lead. Remember the small Eevee, who stood up against all odds to save a child he did not know. Remember the Leafeon who fearlessly gave everything to protect what he held dear. If you remember him thus, to realize the truth of his quiet but glorious life, you will do his memory justice." His voice rose as he neared the end of his speech, and he spoke the last sentence with such conviction, such fire in his eyes. It was over then, short but all that he needed to say. With that the Salamence turned his head and walked down into the hall, once more taking his previous position.

The Kadabra allowed the much bulkier pokemon time to move off before returning to his place. "Thank you, Leonard. Now, if I may... I ask that the wife of the dearly departed please speak her words." The Vaporeon was off of her seat by the time he spoke and passing the Salamence with a brief, thankful nod. She stood at the podium, which the Kadabra immediately gave a wide berth.
 Minerva
Her eyes closed. A deep breath in, then out. Her eyes opened once more. "I have... thought, for days. Of what to say here. Of what story I could tell that would do my husband justice." Her voice cracked on the last word, and after a slight pause, she continued. "There is no story. Nothing I say can fully explain who he was. In the time I spent with my husband, both so short yet so long, I saw so many different sides to him. From a man who conducted his business with care and consideration to a loving father who was never sure if he was doing 'right' by his children. He pressed onwards in spite of his weakness. Something that would have shackled most did little more than slow him down." She paused for a moment, trying to blink away the tears that were invisible to the crowd in the distance and hidden by the veil that covered her face. "So, I ask not for you to grieve dearly for my husband, who preferred his private life. I ask only for you to remember him. To remember what he has done, and what he has accomplished. That his name not be forgotten... and by coming here, you have all shown that it will not. I... thank you all for coming, and... Oh, excuse me, please." The Vaporeon stood down from the podium and hurriedly returned to her seat. The Kadabra returned to his position once more. "Thank you, miss Eclipse. A wonderful speech." Pokemon of various types poured out from the previously-sealed doors. Each one bore lit candles that sat comfortably in small stands. The pokemon began to move down the isles of seats, handing candles to those who could hold them or simply placing them in front of those who could not. "In honor of the dead, I ask that we all speak a prayer. Those who are familiar may speak with me, and those who are not are free to speak their own prayer or follow along in their hearts." Drapes dropped, smothering every exterior source of light. The hall was illuminated only by what little light escaped through in conjunction with the candles. "Oh, Lord, may Your grasp quickly take this man's soul..."

xx xx xx xClaire & Andrew & Rani & Thomas Claire slowly blinked her eyes, noticing that immediate change of atmosphere. In a slight daze, drinking in the words of the three that had spoken. That's all they asked, was for the guild to remember him and all that he stood for. A such easy thing to do, and so they would. Each one of them. Even if a few of them had not much of a reason, like Thomas, who had only been in the guild for a week. Even then, the team had only seem him from afar, rarely even at that. Although they had learned more about him in the speeches just now given; Pluto was obviously a great man in his own ways, it was the least he deserved. Andrew looked on at Minerva's silloutte curiously, wondering what could possibly be running through her head. Andrew took four of the candles from the bearers, nodding silently as a 'Thank You' and set each of them downs in front of his team mates, as he was the only creature who could actually hold the small cylinder. Thomas looked down at his, entranced by the flame, wondering if there was even a life beyond death. Each one of them spoke the prayer, repeating gently after the Kedabra. As he spoke, Claire couldn't help but imagine the Leafeon, his spirit being lifted from his casket (From which her along with the others had been to nerved to approach) and into a strange bright light with Arceus. She poured a bit of her soul into the words, willing for the small vision in her head to be reality, that by speaking he would be sent to a better place then here. It was a peaceful ending most everyone deserved. "Oh Lord, May your grasp quickly take this man's soul..."
