The sounds of bird whistling gave way to the chirping of crickets as the sun made it's way down the horizon. For as far as the eye could see, the sky had a mixture of orange and yellow, red, purple and blue as the moon and sun fought over which position to take. One sphere took night-watch as the other went to sleep. It was a beautiful sight to behold, indeed.
A slight breeze, strong enough to rustle away a few budding leaves, pelted the stallion as he stared in awe of the sight before him. Of course he would never admit it, he was a sucker for these kinds of things. It was, as he called it, appreciating the beauty in life. Sure sunset and sunrise happened every morning and evening....but it was never something to ignore. It was like the heavens were all coming together as one, even just for a moment. And well, frankly...he couldn't miss an opportunity to see it.
When not with others, Cedric was more than happy to wake up while the moon still reigned the sky, if only to watch the sun as it battled victoriously over its friendly enemy. And each night, he took it upon himself (if he could) to watch the moon reclaim its rightful place. Call it what you may, but he couldn't help himself. As a foal he saw the beauty in everything - his mother taught him that - and it stuck by him into adulthood.
Of course now what Cedric mostly thought was beautiful in this world were mares. Mares! Black, white, blue, green, brown...tall, short...winged, horned....evil, good...mares! From all shapes in sizes, each of them were beautiful in their own way and as he learned growing up, not all of them knew it. Some mares needed reassuring that yes, they were indeed very pretty....others just downright didn't think it at all. Which was insane! Who in their right mind told a mare she wasn't worthy of having that title? Hmm?? Who was he and why did he think he had that kind of power?
So Cedric had to take it upon himself to fix all those problems in the minds of mares across the lands. But that didn't mean he couldn't stop and smell the roses every once in a while.
And tonight those roses were the sunset. Standing atop a small hill in the valley, his eyes were fixated on the sight before him...not caring to pay attention to what else was around.

Freya was happy this evening, for the cool air and the wide plain studded with hills reminded her very much of the home she had left so far behind. As the sunlight dipped below the horizon, and the stars began to dot the sky, she reached up within her cloak to pull an unlit lantern from within it's folds. Setting it upon the ground gently, she lipped the door open and nosed the sleeping creature within into wakefulness. It let out a sleepy titter and pulled itself away from the lantern and flitted into the air, leaving behind a bright glow within the lantern. The creature tittered, flitting like a noisy dragonfly around the mare. Laughing, she called out softly. "Now now, Treskir, be nice. We don't want a hungry bat going after you, now do we?" Shocked, the fae darted over to cling to the mare's ear, it's little hands holding tightly. Freya shook her head softly, and smiled. The fae had been a long-time friend to her, and the long nights from her Northern home would have been lonely without it.
Picking up the brightly glowing lantern, Freya set off at a steady gait, the lantern bobbing to and fro, lighting her path in a soft silvery-blue glow.

It was the most unusual of sights.
He saw it out of the corner of his eye, a soft glow making its way to him from a distance. The glow had come out of no where, the stallion concluded, as his tore his gaze from the now-night sky and onto the field beside him. One second, the ground was motionless and empty....and the next, it had a soft....unexplainable glow to it. Watching closely, Cedric noted that it was also floating in mid-air. Wha-how? First off, Cedric had never seen anything glow that way...especially in that color and second, whatever it was, it had to have legs....but from where he was standing he could only see the glow.
So it was strange, indeed.
The stallion watched it for a few moments longer before he decided to do something about the oddity before him. He...was almost too curious for his own good. Haha! How his mother would kill him if she found out he was being adventurous trying to decipher this mystery. Ha! Well, frankly his mother would kill him if she found out how her son had been acting lately as it was....soft glowy-thing or not.
"Hello?" Cedric called out, "who are you? What are you?" It couldn't hurt, right? If this thing was dangerous it wouldn't respond because it wouldn't want to seem friendly...and if it was a scared creature it would run off at the sound of his voice. Yea, it couldn't hurt to be curious every once in a while.
