~Iwadate Boardwalk~
One of the most frequented locations in any resort town is the local boardwalk, and Iwadate is no exception to that ideal. Stretching from the southern end of the town far into the northern end, the Iwadate Boardwalk encompasses much of the town's most famous locations, including: Shirokidan High School, Freaky Fish Guy's Crab and Shrimp Shack (famous for hosting the best seafood platter in the northern prefectures!), Iwadate Beach, many of the various family-owned and higher-class resorts in the area, and of course, many local and national franchise outlets for shopping, food, and entertainment.
Other locations which can be found along the Boardwalk include: Mandragora Karaoke Lounge, Wild-Duck Burger, CrocoFur, Aohige Pharmacy, Be Blue V, Power Records, Game Panic Arcade, Nozomi Suemitsu's Gourmet Beachfront Diner, Shimabukuro's Restaurant and Tavern, and Club Mutatsu (a subsidiary of Club Escapade).

::Sora Ekiguchi, Otaku Loner:: Sora sighed as he walked down the boardwalk, headphones sitting around his neck instead of their usual place on his ears. His mp3 player was almost dead, and he wanted to conserve the battery until he got back to the dorm. There were more important things to take care of. He'd been stuck on that boss for a week now, and was about to do something he didn't too all that often - buy the guide. Sure, he could get what he should do of the internet, but he couldn't go running to his computer if he got stuck in the middle of class. Entering the game store, he habitually scanned the shelves to see if there was anything good in.

Yamato Imagawa ::Heir to the Imagawa Clan::A small smile tugged the lips of a certain silver haired young man as he walked down the boardwalk the breeze playing gracefully with his hair. Yamato had left baseball practice just the slightest bit early. It wasn't a very intensive day on their training schedule after all and really he wasn't needed today it was a batting clinic and it was so far below his level to just lob pitches out at his teammates so they could just practice their hitting. What was the point anyway? He was their ace and a duel like the one he had with Haruto today was more than enough of a practice session. It had, in fact, been one of the most intense duels Yamato had been in in a while. The memories flashed through the young ace's mind like a action montage from a movie. The adrenaline had been coursing through his body so rapidly that his memories were all running together and all he was left with was the sheer awesome feeling that lingered after the duel. The rush had been so intense for Yamato that for the classes that followed the ace's hands shook quiet steadily. That shaking had disappeared pretty quickly once he returned to the field but the rush of images would probably remain. Yamato's steps resounded off the boardwalk, his properly shined shoes glinting in the strong sunlight of the spring afternoon. It was such a nice day that, after ducking out of that dumb batting practice, Yamato could not pass up the chance to walk around the boardwalk and maybe get some food before returning to the dorm to get through with all the work he had been assigned that day. Running his hand through his hair Yamato looked at the shops and game stands that dotted the long boardwalk with a sort of nostalgic warmth too his eyes. He had loved the boardwalk when he was a child and his parents enjoyed taking their son among the shops and lanterns during the night. Those days were so long gone they existed only in the nostalgic sepia tone memories of the past. Yamato turned to a small game where one was supposed to throw a ball and knock down a couple of milk bottles. The silver haired ace eyed the game cautiously, obviously there was some sort of catch to the game; maybe the bottles were glued down or maybe there was an indent in the wood stand so they couldn't move either way Yamato had a pretty good idea. Walking over to the game he stood at the counter and placed his bag down on the ground in front of his feet. The ace looked down at the rules which were painted onto the counter. '100 yen per ball, if you can get all 6 bottles off of the stand you would win a prize. Yamato looked back at the bottles... there was definitely a catch but if he could do it in one throw he would win a there biggest prize of which they would only display one at a time. The prize was a huge, truly enormous, stuffed white whale plush toy. The silver haired ace eyed the prize tentatively...maybe someone would like it? And at least if he played and won he would show yet another person the skill of an Imagawa. The heir pulled a 100 yen note from his pocket and slammed it down on the counter: "One ball please, you may want to get that whale down for me." Yamato spoke with only the slightest smile pulled across his face. The young man who ran the game smiled a wide and greasy smile. His equally greasy hair was matted down to his head as though the sweat had been caking there forever. He placed one ball on the counter and leaned back against the wall. He was all too smug about the fact that he knew this kid could never win, the glass bottles had been glued down for years now and no one the young man had ever seen managed to win the whale. Yamato took up his pitching stance and that was the first moment the owner had a bad feeling. Something about that look and stance that this kid took up was just too practiced for him to be a normal kid. Suddenly the ace's leg kicked up in the air and his perfectly practiced throw followed through so quickly that the kid running the store didn't even know what had happened until he heard the explosion of glass. Yamato had thrown the baseball so hard against the bottle pyramid that on impact the stack had burst into shards of sparkling glass. That tended to happen when a ninety mile per hour fast ball slammed into a brittle substance like glass. To be sure when the worker's head swung to the side to see what had happened the pyramid was completely gone and all that was left was the smug face of the silver haired ace. "My whale please." Yamato's lips curled outwards as the worker, still stunned grabbed the giant white whale plushie and handed it to Yamato begrudgingly. Yamato had won. Walking away smug the ace bought a corn dog and sat down on a bench looking out on the ocean with his whale of a prize seated firmly on his head. The giant white whale was most likely the only thing people saw from behind when they walked by seeing as the prize was easily as big as Yamato was tall.

::Sora Ekiguchi, Otaku Loner:: Game guide in hand, along with a couple of unplanned purchases, Sora left the store, the bag swinging from his wrist as he walked along. His nose was planted firmly in the book, scanning them as he flipped through them. "I didn't know you could do that...you can get that that early? Geez..." he mumbled to himself, not quite watching where he was going, yet still able to maneuver around the people he passed by. "Hmmm..." he flipped past several pages, looking for something in particular. "What is he weak against...THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO?" Realizing he may have drawn attention to himself with his outburst of surprise, Sora tucked the book away, stuffing his hands into his pockets and quickening his pace.

~Haruto Mashiba, Mysterious Transfer Student~ (Location: Iwadate Boardwalk, Shimabukuro's Boardwalk Restaurant and Tavern) It was still surprising just how a school could be located so close to the beach, Haruto thought, as the White Palace shrunk into the distance behind him with his feet carrying him thoughtlessly down the boardwalk he had followed this morning to get to school after moving into the Dorm just around dawn. His first official day at Shirokidan was coming to a close, but already he had made some memories there that would be sticking with him for a while...and some friends and acquaintances that promised to make the year all that much more interesting. Iwadate's Boardwalk wasn't a far walk from the school itself; there was a slight disconnect in the tourists' district right by the beach where the White Palace lay along the glistening sands. On either side of it, not a hundred meters in either direction, the telltale signs of the city's greatest industry could be found in droves. Restaurants of both a local and fast-food variety lined the walk, shops and name-brand department stores were set up one after the other on the left side of the walk, and every so often you would come across a small game stand or a concession shop like a ball tossing game, a goldfish catching pool, or a takoyaki stand that made squid tastier than you could even imagine! So delicious your cheeks will fall off, the lady once boasted! Of course that couldn't happen literally, but well, the stand certainly wasn't successful for nothing. ...Moving down this walk, the taller structures of the bigger-named hotels could be seen rising in the distance, but their dormitory was a little closer than any of those. It wasn't all that far away from the White Palace either, and it was a straight walk down the boardwalk from one to the other, perhaps so that the stretch could be monitored for the safety of the students...or perhaps as another means to separate the more jaded locals from their money with little impulse buys. Unfortunately for the shop owners, none of them had caught the eye of the dark-haired boy on his way to school in the morning. His mind had been quite occupied then, and he had barely noticed the early-risen vendors calling out to him, peddling their wares and trying to lure him into spending a little of his wallet's cash on their shop. On the way back, however, he was a bit more aware...though admittedly, it was less so on the shops than it was on his present company and the surprising beauty of the view just to his right and over the wooden rail separating the boardwalk from the short drop down to the sands of the beach. It wasn't that late yet, especially in these summer days, but the sun was dipping a little on the horizon and the waters flowing to and fro, the kids playing on the beach and the sheer liveliness of the area was enough to catch anyone off-guard. Raising his two fingers to touch at the silver stud in his left ear in an idle fashion, he wondered if this was the sort of thing that faded away with time...or if you always felt a little connection to a view like this no matter how many times you saw it.
He thought as much, and he wondered if that was why Noelle hadn't really spoken much in the short walk from the White Palace to the middle of the Boardwalk shopping district that they were in now. It wasn't as though he had expected her to act excited or bombard him with questions or anything silly like that, of course. And it wasn't as though the silence wasn't surprisingly comfortable between them. Still, he wondered about the things that he had yet to learn about her. How did she like it here in Iwadate? Why did she choose Beach Volleyball...and Shirokidan High itself? Questions that he wouldn't mind an answer to, naturally, but he didn't feel the need to press her unless she felt willing to talk. ...Maybe she felt the same way and that was why she hadn't spoken to him much just yet. He wondered...but he didn't really fret over it. Glancing out of the corner of his eye mysteriously, he saw her pink hair and pale skin, appraising her slyly for a second time...the first chance he had to openly examine her and really recognize just what type of person the 'Jewel of the White Sands' seemed to be. Aloof, perhaps, or maybe that was just a front...her skin was like alabaster, reflecting the sun's rays beautifully as though it were perfectly suited to this sort of weather despite being less tan than perhaps you would expect of someone living near the beach. Her baby blue eyes reminded him of the sky, though they were lighter and softer...they felt like the opposite of that attitude that she seemed to have been putting off when they first met, and even now. Like a window to the soul...a window to whatever lay beneath that intimidating veneer of hers. He wanted to know what it meant, that softer touch that he saw in those eyes...but more immediately, and perhaps almost coincidentally, he spotted something just beyond the girl's face that caught his attention and forced him to turn his head entirely, pausing mid-step to examine the sight more carefully.
It was what looked like a relaxed-style restaurant. The type you went to when you wanted to have a good time and didn't want to have to worry too much about how loud you were when you were having it. It was large, not too showy, but it wasn't like a run-down shop, either. Something told Haruto that it was a popular destination for students like themselves. But it was none of those things that had caught his eye first and foremost...and it wasn't the easy atmosphere that had his mouth almost watering on the spot. It was a sign...one small sign in the corner of the window that read: Imported Wakayama Umeboshi! Iwadate's Best! ...His eyebrow raised, his lip curled pleasantly...umeboshi, eh? He couldn't help it...he wanted it. If there was one food in this world that Haruto Mashiba absolutely devoured, it was the salt and sour combination of delicious umeboshi...and to have it imported directly from Wakayama Prefecture? ...Be still, Haruto's beating heart! Having paused but not stopped to catch the attention of his companion, he coughed slightly and motioned with a casual nod towards the shop on their left that had caught his attention, that mirthful look in his eyes almost insistent.
"You must be thirsty. ...Want a drink?" he offered, using the easiest excuse in his book to make the offer without revealing any other intent other than his generosity...in fact, just to be clear that he was being generous about this...and because he really did want to, "My treat." It wasn't so much a question as a statement...evidenced by the fact that his feet were already lazily carrying him towards the door of the unconventional restaurant and pressing the door open a moment later, taking in the rich aroma of the shop...and noticing how few people were actually inside all at once. Coincidence? Maybe...but hey, the more space they had the more they could talk in private. Would she be willing to tell him more about herself if they were alone in here, he wondered?
...Well, whether or not she did, they could do it over a steaming plate of umeboshi and rice. Or at least he could. And that was really the most important thing right now, wasn't it?

Yamato Imagawa ::Heir to the Imagawa Clan::Yamato devoured the corn dog quickly, his childish fervor quickly dissipating once he had ingested the last of the fried boardwalk treat. Then it was gone and there was an empty feeling in Yamato's heart. The silver haired ace stood up and, almost slovenly, began the short walk over to the garbage can where he could toss the stick out and find something to do. Maybe if Mizu was somewhere... The Imagawa heir shook his head to clear such a ludicrous thought from his head. It was never a good idea to think about those sorts of things in the first place and definitely not about someone so below your own level...right? Either way Yamato made his way over to the trash can, while balancing the giant white whale on the top of his head. The heir chucked the stick without another thought to it and turned around to face the boardwalk shops once more. What to do? What to do? Yamato didn't have many ideas left, the majority of games left didn't give him a chance to use his pitches so those were out, he could eat more, he could maybe even go back to the dorms and practice his bass. Suddenly the silver haired ace's eyes flicked to the side. Some weird kid just walked by yelling at a book. The jolt was so sudden from the loud yelling that Yamato almost dropped the pristine white whale. Turning quickly to the boy who had just passed by and was now speeding up and just as he was about to yell something or other about 'getting on his level,' or 'watching where the hell he was going.' Yamato spotted Haruto and Noelle again. The junior ace's lips tugged upwards slightly as he stepped forward almost ready to cross the boardwalk to his new friend Haruto Mashiba. It wasn't his ideal choice to have to go over to him as long as he was with Noelle, who he considered to be just barely below his level, but he didn't really have much of a choice and... well with the performance from earlier if Yamato didn't at least try to recruit the newbie he would be in some real trouble. It could be like a goukan party, well except that this one would not be very organized... there would be just one possible recruit and he would probably be ruining their personal moment but... well what did Yamato care about party fouls? Haruto was the only one on his level. On top of the company Haruto seemed to be keeping he was going... there. It was one of the few restaurants that were below Yamato's level since the new crop of high end restaurants had sprung up on the board walk. The ace took one hesitant step forward towards the place as Haruto and Noelle entered. He didn't want to enter that restaurant if he could avoid it. After a moment of contemplation Yamato decided to enter the restaurant after his new friend, the pros outweighed the cons. Quickly crossing the boardwalk Yamato pushed open the door to the restaurant with a hesitant step he entered the Shimabukuro Restaurant and Tavern. Whatever trepidations he may have had Yamato surely didn't look it with the giant stuffed white whale on his head. Catching up quickly to the pair the silverette tapped Haruto on the shoulder and a very very subtle smile graced his lips for less than the blink of an eye and then was gone again. "Hey Haruto... you up to talk about joining baseball?" Yamato's motives may have been a little more than clouded. Yamato was really here to hang out with someone because he really didn't have anyone to hang out with... not that he had anyone else to hang out with.

~Shinpachi Saito, Other Transfer Student "Excuse me, are you the former Captain of the Iwadate Guppies?" A cool, equalized voice asked suddenly from behind Yamato, interrupting the impromptu invasion of Mashiba's date, and in it's own way intruding into the situation with a bit of coincidental awkwardness. The dark clothing he was wearing didn't exactly fit the weather outside next to the beach, and the overall feel might have seem a bit more mellow and somber than Yamato or anyone else in the restaurant's colorful affair, but at the same time he didn't seem to stand out in a fashion quite like the blond who'd walked by shouting a moment ago outside, and indeed might have been ignored if he hadn't just spoken. Of course, this being his first day, being a blur in the background of everyone's scopes was normal, but Saito had every intention of driving away that blithe notion quickly enough. And right about this point in Yamato's surprise and mental analysis of the situation, he'd probably be thinking something along the lines of... 'Wait, what the HELL did he just call me?'.It was probably about the time Yamato's mind reacted in that way, too, that Saito bowed quickly in his western clothing and chose to continue despite Yamato's blissfulness five seconds ago. "The Coach told all members of the team to inform you that skipping practice will not be tolerated just because you're a star, and that he heard about some new student getting a hit off of you. I believe that a misconception involving the second part may have led to some misunderstandings..." Saito said with a glance of his eyes o the side just for a moment, clearly only because he'd remembered said mysterious misunderstanding. Despite the bombshell he might have been dropping however, he didn't seem too worried telling the pitching Ace this for the first time now that they'd just met, he merely seemed to be reciting it as concisely as possible. "Pardon my manners. I'm Shinpachi Saito, the new Captain. I just transferred today, and the Coach wanted you to show up so I had someone capable of throwing a worthy pitch to me. To be a bit honest, I told him it was unlikely that an Imagawa would compare to the Saito, but I was unable to test your abilities." He explained, scratching his cheek a bit with his index finger and looking to the side, still disinterested. Was he brash? Or just cocky? Really, Saito thought, he might give off the impression of both a bit, but in reality he considered the challenge something in the air, and despite the entire team's insistence Yamato was the best around, he'd felt incredibly doubtful for a time...but he was willing to give the Imagawa a chance to prove he was second best on the team, if he could handle it. "Ah, you must be the one I was mistaken for. Haruto Mashiba, correct?" He asked, turning and addressing the two whose date had been so unceremoniously crashed all of a sudden. It wasn't as if they'd planned this event, but sometimes it seemed people's fates were intertwined and so a destined bond could take place, even through a subtle incident like a crashed, sinking date with the school's most popular girl. Some people just called that bad luck, other swore it was destiny; Saito thought none of these, and merely bowed his head for a second in apology for the interruption. "I was questioned by the Principle after this morning to see if I might have been involved in that little incident; fortunately I was able to convince him we'd never met, since I'm in another classroom. I wish I could have a first day as interesting as yours." Saito said with a slight smile, admitting defeat when it came to first impressions. For that matter, he was well aware of who the unfortunate lady was sitting next to Mashiba at this time, and as a result, he empathized with his plight all the more, but for the time being Saito knew it seemed to be his fate to intervene on the dream of his brother in arms...well, brother in transfers, anyways. Still, if there was one thing they could all be certain of at this point, it was likely something in everyone's minds...Imagawa, his new club partner, was probably about done foaming at the mouth and was going to have something to say just...about...now.

::Noelle Everett, Jewel of the White Sands:: The glistening waters, the crashing of waves against the rocks, the coming and going of the sea...Yeah, it was a beautiful scene. One she saw every day, but still managed to take her attention each time. It was different, how the sun rays reflected on the clear water; how the white grains of sand shined...It was soothing. Calming. If there was something the pinkette could keep doing without getting bored, beside volleyball that was, it was to gaze at the sea from The Rock. It was a good background scenery and music for her tangled thoughts. Noelle blinked, her attention caught by a surfer at the distance, her deep thinking completely shattered the moment the unfortunate fool crashed and came tumbling down. Heh… A hand shot towards her mouth to stop the upcoming giggles…Hope he was alright. The girl shifted her gaze away from the beach momentarily, returning to look at her companion, tilting her head slightly and giving him a small shrug and smile. Their walk had been mostly quiet, and despite it not being as uncomfortable as she would have expected to be, the pinkette still needed to ask some questions and once at the dorms, she was sure her chance would slip. She eyed him for a moment, and somehow his confident smirk irked her some…Why though, she had no idea. He didn’t seem bothered by anything, he didn’t even say anything in reproach to her before…or when she had hit him with the ball (even if that had been an accident). It was almost as if everything just slipped off from him, as if he was bothered by nothing. And perhaps that was it...Though, it didn’t bother her enough to walk away. In fact, it was probably that that kept her still here, wanting to know more about this mysterious transfer student. He was interesting, to say the least.
The girl was about to open her mouth to ask about this or that when he stopped, something catching his attention. “Huh?” her eyes glimmered questioningly for a brief moment, before she notice what the new guy was looking at. That small restaurant, huh? “Oh? Well…” Not that she had any hurry to get back to the dorms but… My treat. Ah! That changed everything. “Sure, why not? ” With that, she followed behind him, walking inside the small shop. It was one of those places she would come to every once in a while with friends; it had decent food and the air around it wasn’t all that bad either. “So, I’ve been wanting to ask,…” Though, her question never found the light of day when the silverette from before interrupted her once again. An unintentional huff escaped her lips, before her frown was replaced with a forced smile, nodding to Yamato and waving her hand as a greeting. “Hello to you too Yamato…” the pinkette muttered crossly. Really! Ignoring her like that… Bah. “Baseball? Are you joining the baseball team, Mashiba kun?” But once again, a new face joined them, addressing to the captain of the baseball team. Or… former captain? Huh? What was this? And more importantly…who was this guy? Noelle listened to the conversation between the two, shifting her gaze from one to the other, and then to Haruto, a small frown painting on her face. “This won’t end well…” she whispered mostly to herself. And she didn’t want to be there when the pitcher Ace exploded…

~Haruto Mashiba, Mysterious Transfer Student~ (Location: Iwadate Boardwalk, Shimabukuro's Boardwalk Restaurant and Tavern) There was a short list of things in the world that could instantly capture the attention of Haruto Mashiba; one of those things was a pickled fruit from Wakayama, whose sweet and salty taste tickled his taste buds in a way that nothing else could...umeboshi. Though it would be unfair to say that only the umbeboshi could adequately satisfy his tastes, since umezuke was particularly delicious in his mind as well. Really, just about anything with ume stood amongst his favorite foods, something he looked for in just about any location he appeared. Finding fresh umeboshi in a shop like this so soon was unexpected, but then, he withheld judgment entirely until he had actually tried the stuff here. Would it be as good as what he had found in Oshu City? He was intrigued...more than he would probably admit. And being able to go inside and check it out, particularly with the current company, was enough to make his day. And so when he opened the shop door and allowed the pinkette to go in ahead of him, nothing was really on his mind other than his company and of course, the food that awaited them inside. Thus, it came as something of a surprise that made even the relatively unshakable Haruto when Yamato surprised him from behind with a tap on the shoulder and a smile, asking him if he was interested in talking about the baseball club. His eyebrow raised as he turned to face the silver-haired Ace of the baseball team, and while he smiled slightly, he also shared in the minor feeling of loss at the companionable air between eh and Noelle that had been lost. And just when she had looked like she was going to talk to him about something...he couldn't say he wasn't disappointed. Still, if two was company and three was a crowd, there was something to be said about getting an unexpected fourth member to the party. He almost sighed...umeboshiii~
"Maybe later," he answered the Imagawa Heir and Noelle's baseball inquiries simultaneously after a moment of consideration for both, not dismissing the possibility...but not accepting it any sooner than he could get some delicious ume into his stomach, at least. The shopkeeper, presumably 'Shimabukuro' from the name of the store, motioned for them to be seated somewhere near the back just then...and so when Shinpachi introduced himself in a rather roundabout (and slightly insulting, perhaps) fashion to Haruto's newest friend then turned and shared a greeting with him as well, he decided not to answer that second in lieu of sharing a nod with Noelle. She was right, of course, though she hadn't really intended for him to hear what she had said...this probably wouldn't end well if he didn't intervene somehow. "Yeah, that's me," he confirmed Shinpachi's greeting, though it was clear that the newcomer knew who he was without asking. Casually stepping between the two 'Captains', he motioned with his cobalt eyes towards the booth in back before adding. "I'm thirsty...so let's sit down," his words were more of a statement than a suggestion, leading the way with the expectation that Noelle (and then the others) would be soon behind him. It would be pointless of them to stand in the doorway, so it really was the only logical option. Moving casually towards the back, he slid into the booth and made room at his side for the pinkette or the Imagawa boy to join if they so chose. He didn't need a menu to order...and when the shopkeeper followed him to the table he needed only a moment to collect his thoughts and make an order. "Umeboshi and rice, with a side of umezuke," the transfer student ordered smoothly, "oolong tea to drink."
Having got that out of the way, he glanced towards his pink-haired guest and nodded towards the shopkeeper, a silent offer reminding her that this was, indeed, on his tab. Now he supposed the others would want to get down to business...meanwhile, he really only wanted to get down to an early dinner. And if they wanted to ask him questions and/or chat in the meantime he wouldn't mind. Too much. Especially if those questions also had to do with umeboshi as well...

Excal Eiri, The b*****d Son of Beethoven It didn’t took Excal long to drop off the painting into his dorm room and placed it under his bed, after all that business was done he decided to head out into the city. Could have stayed in, but who in their right minds would want to stay inside when you lived in a city next to the beach?! There was so much to do in this little city, for example one could just go by the shore and feel the waves slowly going over their feet. A perfect place for activities such as surfing, rubbing sun screen on the back of a damsel in distress, building sand castles, rubbing sunscreen on the back of a damsel in distress, burying your douchebag of a friend in the sand, this has already been mention before but one cannot stress this enough that the best part of beach fun is getting that chance to rub sunscreen on the back of a damsel in distress. With so many chances to be having a good time Excal should have been rushing to the shores, but he wasn’t anywhere near the beach. “BLOODY HIGH CLAW!” Instead of having a day in the sun Excal was out and about in the city, more specifically in the gaming arcade. There he was doing his best to brutalize, pwn, gain absolute victory against other kids on the other end and CPUs in Street Fighter IV. After he had his fill of running around like a slave Excal deserve to have a moment just to himself and what better way to do so than to kick some a** with Ken and Vega; two of his most prominent fighters in the game. Though he it was quite hard to contain his enthusiasm during his gaming sessions, that little outburst he made before attracted stares and cheerful smiles from other gamers which caused Excal to shut his mouth to revert their attention. Once he didn’t feel like he had the whole world staring at him the senior just sighed out in relief, he smiled brightly as he continued to fight on in the game; the burdens of school and its work was floating out of his body. His love for video games such as Street Fighter was one of the many things that could bring about a happy day for Excal, and in this environment he could feel more or less himself; he was a frequent customer in the arcade so it was a matter of time before he could trust these people to know about his little dilemma in life. But this wasn’t the time to discuss about it, now Excal was only focus on defeating the final hidden boss in the game for the 25th time, Gouken. This dude was a tough cookie to fight, he was after all the man who taught Ryo and Ken to be badass martial artist, but with Vega by his side Excal was sure that Gouken was going to meet his end. Vega was a tough character for Excal to control, he was so unpredictable, wild, agile, and of course absolutely insane when it came to his claws and looks. Recently he has been getting use to the controls of the masked narcissist, which led to the challenge of beating the game with him for the first time on the highest difficulty. It was far too easy leaving a trail of destruction with Vega, though his progression with the storyline was halted once or twice by other gamers making challenges but they were no match for Vega’s… “BLOODY HIGH CLAW!” shouted the tricking fox with glee as it was being put into motion on the old warrior. The rush of excitement overwhelmed the senior to the point where he just got up from his chair and punched up in the air as a sign of victory, “Awww Yeah! Victory is mine!” His moment of triumph once again made eyes stared at him. He smiled sheepishly at everyone while looking down with a cold bead of sweat going down his face as a sign of being embarrassed, “Ah…shutting up now.” Sitting back down on the chair Excal decided to have another go at the game, this time he was going to be his far more experienced fighter, Ken Masters! Not wanting to waste another moment he started to dig around in his pocket for another yen, his face grew pale once he felt nothing in there. “No…” the grim word sprang in his head as he searched again for his coins to put into the machine, but again there wasn’t anything but dust in his pockets. “No, no, no, no!!!” He shot up from his feet digging around more frantically, there was no way that he was out of yen so soon, he only had seven continues. “Ah..Ah…don’t panic….Hey! Hey! Anyone got some coins to lend?!” He rushed around looking for people who would take pity on him and give him some change. Honestly it was like being a homeless guy begging for money to buy more drugs, sad thing about begging like a homeless man…no one would care about you and not give you money; which is what these people were doing to poor Excal. ..

NO ONE! IS A S LUCKY* AS US ⇣ ___________________________________ we're not at the end but ❞ we already won!_______ i've got a feeling if i sang this loud enough you would sing it back to me_____ YOU WOULD SING IT BACK ( ★ ) TO ME____________ IT'S NOTHING TO IT! ✂ - - - I've n e v e r ↺ been HAPPIER!___ Her heels clicked against the ground, keeping a steady rhythm, though she really wasn't paying attention. In her earmuff/headphones, all the pinkette was hearing was some chiptek made by an unfortunately not-so-well-known artist. The board walk was looking particularly beautiful that afternoon, which caused a small smile to form on her lightly tinted lips. She hummed to the music, weaving through the bodies - some she recognized from school, some she noticed were from her school, and the rest were just strangers. Then again, all of them were strangers to her. Faceless beings who would not likely leave an imprint in her sea of memories. The sudden, saddening thought made her falter, but she continued, gripping her black and teal shoulder bag a little tighter. She shook her pig-tailed head, the hot pink and violet red hairs shaking a little with the motion. She had to stop being so negative. Even though it was true, she had just ought to keep those kinds of thoughts in the far reaches of her mind. Light would have given his sad smile if he heard her say that. And she would have felt so selfish and guilty for telling him so.
A voice that reached through the music startled her as she passed the arcade. A familiar senior's voice, to be exact. Curious, she unplugged the headphones and entered the facility, looking for the source with aqua-colored eyes. Over at an old arcade game, she found him. Giggling at his expression, she bounced over to him, digging into her sweater pocket. "Hey Eiri-san!" she laughed, holding out a handful of yen. Spare change, really, but she wanted to make him smile. Why? Why not? The girl just wanted to be nice, really. "Need a hand?" she teased lightly, canting her head ever so slightly with her friendliest smile. She genuinely had the appearance of your typical teenage girl.

Excal Eiri, The b*****d Son of Beethoven Excal didn’t want much, he wasn’t asking for 50,000 yen, he wasn’t trying to smuggle the good people out of their money to buy nefarious materials for some illegal usages. No! all he wanted to do was get some yen, in coins, so that he could continue having his fun with his arcade experience, but every time he did the answers were the same, “Buzz off” “Go away you freak” stuff like that. Treated him like he was some freak of nature, not saying that he was in fact a pretty strange individual, but that wasn’t the point! He had expected that Japanese people would finally learn a thing or two from their western neighbors and learn how wrong it was to be prejudice against another person, especially when that person just wanted some freaking coins to play video games! No matter how hard he would try, even with the fake tears and excessive tragic lies of his past, Excal came up with no yen what so ever. He fell to his knees in defeat, was it some kind of celestial joke to the higher ups to watch Excal trying everything to get something he actually wanted?! Couldn’t they just give him one measly break and let him have some fun while he still had a chance?! For the love of everything magical and holy in this world why must they play with him like that! Excal looked up to the ceiling, feeling the dramatics getting to him, and was about to let out a long over exaggerated “Whhhhyyyy!” but he was soon stopped by a sweet and familiar voice. It was sweet to the ears and sent a upbeat vibe in his body, he knew this voice well…very well, turning to the side he saw a female with two red and pink colored hair tied in puffy looking pig-tails. The sight of her nearly made his mouth dropped in shocked, it was none other than an old friend of his, Yotsuba Fujiwara; otherwise known as…. “Clover!” quickly his moment of astonishment changed to utter joy. Jumping back up on his feet he took a moment to get a good look at her, she really had grown into a nice young lady after a few years since they first met in school. But, as much as he missed seeing her around Excal’s eyes were now fixated on a handful of yen that was in her hands, his lips stretched into a long slim smile of delight at the sight of the sparkling coins. To others they were just regular coins, a dime of dozen, but to Excal they were more; they were his precious. Hastily he snapped out of his trance for the sake of appearances, as hard as that was considering that she probably saw him in his desperate times. His smile was still glowed onto his face, leaning forward just a bit Excal began to tap her forehead with his index finger repeatedly, “Where have you been? Thought you got enrolled somewhere out of the city, I didn’t even see you around class. You think your too good for class now Pom-Poms? No one’s too good for class, not even me. And Trust me I know I am far too awesome to be letting people drool in pleasure at the sight of me, but I still go. So what? What’s your excuse Ms. Ditcher?! Got 30 seconds to convince me..no 15… no 10!. . . . . okay 30”

::Noelle Everett, Jewel of the White Sands:: The girl lingered for a few seconds longer at the doorway, waiting for the other two to follow, before turning on her heels and walking towards one of the booths at the back, where Haruto was already taking his seat. And there it was again…Slipping smoothly away from the conflict that was surely going on between the two baseball players. What would have she done? Well…probably watch and observe from the sidelines…before barking at them to shut up. Or tase them. One or the other. But, never could have she been able to act that calmly (or at least give that appearance). But, she was getting off topic. What matter in that moment was that brief time (if they could have any time at all, that was) for themselves before more people were to bombard them inside of the small restaurant. Because really…Haruto Mashiba had been one to make impressions on his first day. No surprise to find out he already had his group of fangirls. … … Ahem. Either way…not that she cared about that. At all. What mattered, like she had said, was to get to know a little bit more about him other than his name and the feat earlier that day. Yep. So, the pinkette sat down on the chair in front of him, resting her head on her palms prettily, a smile curling at the corner of her lips. “Umeboshi, huh?”
Interesting choice. ”Mmm…I think I’ll have…” Blue eyes shifted momentarily to the menu on the table, reading over the different options there, deciding on what she would order. She could have a fruit smoothie, or maybe a piece of cake; her eyes sparkled for a moment, reading over the delicious desserts that were on display. Strawberry milkshake, or…or… No! Wait. Stop. She couldn’t have sweets! As much as she loved them…she couldn’t. Not if she wanted to keep in shape. Not that all that jumping and running from practice didn’t burn enough calories to let a small treat slip…but…better if it was kept that way. She’d feel terrible afterwards, anyway. So, a simple tea would do. An Earl Grey, or perhaps just some green tea. Though…the milkshake really was calling out for her. Aah...“This one will do!” she finally decided, a slender finger pointing at the menu, coincidentally it being one of the more expensive milkshakes of the menu. What was it made out of, anyway? Eeeh, who knew…she didn’t care. It sounded tasty, and, besides, it wasn’t her who was paying for this. “ Thank you~” …Yeah, she’ll regret this later.
But, having ordered, the girl returned her gaze back to cobalt eyes, a grin brightening her features as she tilted her head slightly. “So! What brought you here to Iwadate?” Let the questions begin.

~Haruto Mashiba, Mysterious Transfer Student~ (Location: Iwadate Boardwalk, Shimabukuro's Boardwalk Restaurant and Tavern) While the two 'captains' of the baseball team argued and went about their business, Haruto settled into the booth near the back-left corner of the shop with Noelle and leaned his head against the knuckles on his right hand, a mysterious little smile settling onto the corner of his lips as his companion went over the menu and picked out a particularly expensive milkshake for a drink. Something told him that this wasn't what she would normally get when she was here (he had seen her figure playing volleyball earlier, and it was pretty dynamite), but if this was the price he had to pay to walk her back to the dormitory, then he supposed it was well worth it. Besides, if he was too poor, he wouldn't be living out here in this resort town on his own. Iwadate, for what it was worth, was a fairly expensive place to live given its lucrative tourism business. But that was a thought for another time. His mind had more interesting things running through it than the financial welfare of the Iwadate locale, and one of the two most prominent subjects sat opposite him in the booth with a pretty smile on her lips, small inquiries slipping out of them as if she were sizing him up, trying to get a grasp on just what sort of person he was. It wasn't as though he was foreign to that sort of thing...it was natural to want to know more about someone who had piqued their curiosity. He supposed he was more satisfied that he had managed to catch her attention at all than he was as for why or exactly what questions she wanted to ask him. Score one for the upside down cloud-watching act, eh? The dark-haired boy couldn't help the knowing smile that formed as he watched her watching him, as though he knew something that she didn't even though she was the one who was studying him. Her light voice crossed the distance between them as she noticed his food of choice, and he couldn't help but feel even more amused at that reaction. She had probably noticed the way his cobalt eyes lit up momentarily when he ordered them, hadn't she? Excellent! Now, at least, she would have some idea what to get him if she ever wanted to get the Junior a birthday present...
"That's right," he confirmed in a thoroughly mirthful voice, almost sing-song in the way that he bounced the pickled side-dish's name. Yep...he really was a fan of umeboshi...and umezuke...and he didn't seem shy at all about his little culinary obsession. Truly an interesting response, she might find, as most guys liked foods that were manlier...or if they didn't, would at least pretend to be a little more reserved about it. It was almost as if Haruto wasn't the sort to be bothered at all, as though being who he was stood as enough of an excuse to simply...be who he was. His eyes reflected his amusement, almost as if to ask...'Why not?" Of course, to find out if he felt this way about everything, or if there was more to him than this cool, semi-amused veneer that he put on was probably one of the most interesting reasons that the pinkette was here now asking him questions about this and that. And if she pressed the right buttons, asked the right questions, she would likely find that there was more to him than that...but for now, he was content to keep her curious and answer her honestly, letting the curve of his eyebrow and the tweak at the corner of his lips confound her a little more.
"It's no bother," the teen joked in response to her lighthearted gratitude, honest in that he really didn't mind that she had ordered something quite that expensive...though the hint of sarcasm in his tone meant that he hadn't missed it (or the hint of teasing in her sing-song little 'Thank you', either. He might have made a quip about it, even, if not for the fact that she was brightening a bit and for the first time her own cool attitude, that air of 'be careful what you say or do' that lingered about her (and with a serve like hers, you damned well better be careful!) seemed to lift. Her curiosity reflected in her baby blues and he could almost guess where she was going with the words that came out of her mouth yet. Oh yes, it was time for her to get out some of those questions that had been on the tip of her tongue in the bleachers earlier, and just outside the restaurant a few minutes ago. That was, if they didn't getting interrupted again...a totally plausible thing, but hey, what will be will be, right? He looked out the window for a moment towards the blue sky and white clouds as if considering the best way to answer the question...or perhaps just drawing it out a little bit to tease her. After a beat, however, he spoke up again and seemed to enjoy examining her for her reaction when he finally did. "Beach volleyball?" he answered with a smirk that belied his joke, before quickly amending to ensure he didn't catch the wrong end of her vicious strike a second time, "no, I think I was just bored with my old school. Oshu City was a drag...too many white collars, you know? I thought a laid back place like Shirokidan might be more fun, I guess..." His words were smooth, slipping out with an ease that made you wonder if he had thought about how to answer the question before (or maybe he was just a practiced liar playing around with her). Haruto looked out again towards the sky and the horizon overlooking the beach in the distance, a glimmer that was almost appreciative in his cobalt orbs. Maybe he really loved the beach for some reason...or maybe he just thought this school would be more fun? Or maybe he really didn't know...but that seemed the most logical answer. It was hard to tell with that aloof feel about him, but then again, he had answered her fairly straightly...no reason to doubt him, right?
Glancing back out of the corner of his eye as the drinks arrived, he nodded towards the shopkeeper and then considered something very obviously, as though deciding what it was that he wanted to ask her in return. Then, his attention focusing back on the girl fully once more, the question flew from his lips with an ease that might make you wonder if he had planned out this whole conversation in advance. "My turn," he started, clearly not wanting to be the only one getting quizzed up, "...I like your hairstyle." ...Wait, that wasn't a question was it? But that strange look in his eye spoke to his amusement, almost as if he were throwing her a curve-ball on purpose just to see how she would react. "I've been curious all this time, because it's so unique," he amended, smirking slightly as he lifted the tea with both hands to test it...just right, he decided after a moment, "are you a natural pinkette?"

★Takeshi Kedamono, The Suprisingly Fuzzy★ Giant
"Need a hug? I don't bite..." ----------------------------------------------------- Takeshi was browsing through the boardwalk, after stopping by the Freaky Fish Guy's Crab and Shrimp Shack he felt like walking off the excess calories. his mind started to wander as he replayed the events at school that happened today, "Mashiba Punk Radio... that sounds pretty good to me..." With his head lost in the clouds he didn't pay attention to where he was going and bumped into a small boy. Of course the boy fell and did something most little kids do after they got hurt, cry.
"W-woah there little guy! Don't just start crying!" Apparently he didn't hear Takeshi and tears streamed down the little boys face as Takeshi stood there in awkward silence as people passing by stared at him with irratated expressions. Finnally the boy's sobbing succumbed to just sniffles and hiccups and Takeshi finnally managed to apologize, "Hey... I'm sorry for making you fall, you're not hurt right? And where's your mom and dad? Aren't they around here somewhere?" The boy frowned but nodded, "Yeah I'm okay... I was just lookng for my mommy, I'm lost and I don't know where to go..." Takeshi sighed aa he looked around for a couple looking for a lost child. "Alright, let's go look for your mommy." The boy nodded and grabbed Takeshi's hand to his suprise, and Takeshi felt that it wouldn't go well if he were to ask the kid to let go.
~15 minutes later~
Takeshi seemed hopeless as the kid (who's name was Momiji) didn't recognize anybody to be his mom. He took a moment of thought to ask himself where he would look for a lost child, and the first thing that came to mind was the arcade.
"Momiji, does anyone here look like your mommy?" The young boy looked around, and his eyes lit up as he saw the back of Clover. "There's my mommy!" Momiji let go of Takeshi's hand and started sprinting towards Clover with delighted shouts of "mommy mommy I found you" 'Wait... isn't that... Clover?' The young boy hugged Clover's legs as Takeshi realized the young lady Momiji was hugging wan't his mom, but somebody from his school. "Uh... Momiji... I don't think that's ...your mom." Momiji immediantly let go of clover and looked up at her face. "Oh.. you're not my mom..." Takeshi was about to slap his forehead in embarassment, but to his relief he heard a delighted voice of another woman shout "Momiji!"
A rich looking lady came running towards Momiji and embraced him and kissed him, "Momiji, I thought I lost you... don't scare me like that! I felt like I was going to die when I didn't see you!" Suddenly the lady looked up and thanked Eiri, Clover and Takeshi for finding her child, assuming that both Eiri and Clover also helped the young boy find his mom.
When the mom and her boy left, Takeshi let out a laugh, "Wow... I didn't think that sort of thing would happen! You're Eiri... and you're Clover right?" asked Takeshi as he attempted to remember the names of Eiri and Clover.
----------------------------------------------------- Can you remember the melody I used to hum? (Back in the Days) Every memory is shining brightly (So) You gotta remember, even now you have a fragment of a dream in your hand Like back then (Come on!) It shines like a young boy's heart Quote: What luck! The young rich woman gave Eiri, Takeshi and Clover 4000 yen each in deep gratitude!
