Bio: Derek has had a rough life with his mother dying from cancer when he was only 5. As he grew up, he created a shell for himself, keeping away from anyone. He went into a deep depressive state and got himself into more trouble than he should have. When he turned 16 he realized that acting out the way he did and not talking to anyone, was getting him no where. He began talking with people, letting all of the walls he built break down for good. He got himself into this university as a way to turn his life around and do something good with it by becoming an artist. It was what most people would call 'The Slums' but to him, it was home. Even though there was drug dealers, gang shootings and the likes, he grew up fairly normal. He learned that life was never nice, even when you hadn't done anything wrong real fast when his mother died. After that, everything sort of went down hill from there. His father picked up two more jobs on top of what he was already doing just to make sure Castiel and him survived. Castiel did the only thing he could think of doing, joining one of the local gangs. He stayed with the gang for as long as he could, feeling that he actually had a family outside of his blood-related family. When it came time for him to choose a college, he chose this one.
