Questionable Loiterer

The newly-promoted grunt stretched and yawned as he woke in bed, basking in the luxury of his new dorm. He still had to share it with his newly-appointed partner, but better one person than eight. Blinking sleepily, Izaya glanced toward the other grunt's side of the room, the mound curled up under the blankets suggesting his partner was still fast asleep. As sorely tempted as he was to do something to the vulnerable sleeper, Orihara suppressed the urge and went to take a shower instead. In order to do so, he still had to leave the room to find the communal showers the grunts used on their floor. Luckily it was early and no one else seemed to be present. He had the place all to himself.

Much to his regret, the young man was too drowsy to fully inspect the bathroom supplies before stripping off his clothes and stepping into the stream of warm water. As he reached for the box of soap perched on the small ledge of a shelf, he found it to be astoundingly light. "...Eh?" He opened it, only to find it empty.

Is this someone's idea of a practical joke? he wondered, perturbed as he searched around for another box. Nothing. Nor in the next box or the next one. Of course. Why not? Let's take the grunts' soap to show them they don't need hygiene to be real men... The immature prank was reminiscent of high school bullying. Either that, or the other Rocket grunts using the communal showers used a lot of soap. Looks like we have towels, at least... With a heavy sigh, the brunette shut off the water, stepped out of the shower, and wrapped his towel around his waist.

Digging through drawers and peering into cabinets, Izaya found them all to be empty. Whoever was in charge of stocking the bathroom supplies wasn't very good at it, but then the grunt reminded himself that this wasn't a hotel. Still, after all that instruction as a trainee, it seemed ironic that he hadn't the slightest idea where to find a backup bar of soap. There had to be a store of them somewhere.

At long last, the crimson-eyed man gave up trying and wandered back into the changing rooms. His towel still wrapped around his waist. Though his skin was mostly dry by this point, his hair was still wet and he didn't dare put on his new clothes until he had finished washing up. He didn't want to risk dampening them. On the other hand, the clothes he had slept in - his uniform after training from the previous day - was most likely saturated with dried sweat. After all, the only reason he hadn't bothered to change out of them was because he had been too physically exhausted to do so. His muscles still ached. No, there was no way he was putting those back on until they had a through washing.

Well, there was nothing to be done about it. He would have to go out in his towel and wet hair. Maybe one of the other, more experienced grunts on the floor knew where to find the soap. Opening the door, he peeked cautiously out into the hallway before stepping out in bare feet. No one in sight. So far, so good. Taking a deep breath, he strode up to the nearest, neighboring dorm room door and gave a hearty knock. Hopefully whoever answered wasn't female.

((If the placement is off, as in there are already people assigned to dorms next to Xander's & Frost's, please let me know and I'll change it. Same goes for any details of the dorm that I may have messed up. I'm assuming there's one bathroom per dorm/two people.

EDIT: Adjusted. Tinn mentioned that only Agents and up get their own bathrooms, so Grunts and I'm assuming everyone below have communal bathrooms. She said she's going to post a picture of it soon, but she said the basic scenario is still okay to play out: No soap available in the communal showers/bathrooms, so Izzy decides to ask a next-dorm-neighbor if they might know where the soap is.))

(I have no idea what the exact placements of the rooms are =3))

It was still rather early but Alexander was already up and messing around in his room. He didn't have to worry about anything other then some simple training with his pokemon today so he wasn't in any particular hurry. The tall teen was still in his sleep pants as he straightened his bed covers and pillows, picked up the clothes that had been left on the floor from last night and got ready for his shower. So far he hadn't let any of his pokemon partners out of their pokeballs just yet and planned on keeping it that way until after said shower.

He had just gotten out a change of clothes when the knock happened. Xander turned to the door with a curious look. "Who can that be? Definitely not Frost." he gave a slight chuckle. His roommate had a different knocking tone when ever he decided he should knock even when it was his room as well. Besides Frost had already left for his shift and he wouldn't be back til later. He strode over to the door and opened it in a casual manor. Once opened he got an eyeful of a clearly naked other then a towel man. "Can I help you?" he asked with a small smile while routinely making sure he didn't look below the other males face. For some reason other guys sometimes got offended when they thought they were being checked out even when they weren't.

((First post adjusted to accommodate this one~))

The sight of the younger-yet-taller young man surprised Izaya, though it was definitely better than some vicious, wrathful woman. "Ah...yes, pardon my...humble state," he began, gesturing vaguely to his towel, "but I had a little trouble in the bathrooms and I wondered if you could help me." He smirked sheepishly and shrugged with empty palms, not seeming bothered by his lack of proper clothing at all. The person standing before him was male, and therefore he didn't really have any reason to suspect his same-gender body would bother or otherwise distract the younger grunt in the least.

"There is no soap. Do you know where they keep it?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 20, 2011 9:26 pm

(Ok *thumbs up* =3)

At the questions Xander couldn't help but chuckling slightly. "The soap routinely disappears around here. Here I'll shop you in a minute, I have to head to the showers anyway." he said then turned back towards the room, leaving the door open. He grabbed the new clothes he had picked out then a plastic bag. "Once you get more used to being around here you learn to memorize the location of the soap and usually start just bringing your own." the blond said then turned, walked out the door and closed it behind him. "No one steals out of the supply closet but anything left in the showers are considered fair game." he warned as he headed toward the door beside the entrance to the showers.

Xander opened the door, either proving to be unlocked or that he was a very fast lock picker, and gestured to the contents. "You'll find shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shaving creams, face wash, extra towels encase the ones in the cabinets run out, wash clothes, peroxide, nail polish remover, cleaning supplies and razors in here." he said looking back at Izaya. "All of it is very cheap and your expected to get anything else you need from outside HQ." Most of the soaps in the closet were to cheap for him and usually are more trouble then they're worth by way of making you itch but it was good for those who don't yet have the funds or time to go out and buy their own stuff.

"Routinely, huh?" Izaya looked somewhat amused. "Any idea who does it? Is there someone around here so obsessed with good hygiene that they are driven to hoard it all away for themselves?" He leaned against the door frame, content to wait as the blond teen turned to get ready.

"So that's how it is...funny." he remarked. "Mind showing me where this supply closet is? I guess I must have missed it. Soap is a strange thing to be taking, but I guess if one wants to make sure one has a 'clean' bar, bringing your own sounds like a very smart idea." He followed the blonde grunt back the way he had come until they stopped just in front of a door beside the entrance. Izaya supposed he had either been too sleepy to notice it or had taken it for some maintenance room previously.

As the friendly young man opened the door and gave a detailed list of the contents, Izaya has to admit he was impressed. "That's some memory you have," he noted, registering each of the items in the closet as they had been spoken aloud. "Thanks; you've been very helpful. In fact, I'm beginning to wonder where you've been since I've gotten here. Everyone else I've met so far have been...shall we say, 'less than hospitable'?" He sneered. "Truth be told, it's starting to make me suspicious."

Izaya grabbed a box of soap, removed the bar, discarded the box, and weighed the soap in his hand before continuing. "What did you say your name was, again...?" he asked, not looking at the other grunt.

Xander chuckled with an amused smile. "Oh I have a few idea's on who the usual culprits are. They tend to take turns, although the stealing is just for fun. After all, they usually do it when newbies move in or when they are bored and find out some one ran out of their own personal soaps." Yeah Xander knew who they were, he would also steal the stolen good back later and put them in the closet until next time.

"Thanks there's a reason why I have it memorized." Like the reason of the aforementioned steal backs. "Your welcome. You must have been meeting all the wrong kinds of people." Xander said then ran a hand through his hair. "Granted as you are part of an 'evil Organization' bad or frosty attitudes are the norm in some aspects." But for the most part people Xander had met weren't that bad. "I'm Alexander, but most shorten it to Xander. Pleasure to meet you. And you are?"

"Right. I guess that would explain it since I just got promoted myself," Izaya murmured, mentally making a note to keep an eye out for suspicious soap-stealers. He would have to know their identities and the nature of their actions if he was going to avenge himself. Not that he had been all that embarrassed about the situation, but the mere idea that someone thought they could get away with pranking him was enough to spark his plotting. He knew he could always ask the young man before him, but he didn't want to give away his plan nor accept aid from others unless he absolutely needed to. Besides, for all he knew, the teen could have been one of them.

He chuckled lightly at Alexander's implied reasoning for his memory of the closet's contents. "Mm, maybe I have," he responded distantly, running through the names and faces in his head. "Or maybe it's just me. Never really had any friends prior to joining this team, so why would I expect to start now?" The brunette spoke this while beaming, as though he wouldn't have had it any other way. "But you're right. I guess maybe that's why I like to think I fit in well enough."

This Alexander seemed to have a relatively high opinion of most of the people in Team Rocket, despite what he had said. If he had mentioned the 'wrong kinds of people', that suggested that he considered there to be the 'right kinds of people' within the organization as well. How innocently naive. This guy had a lot to learn. "Grunt Nakura," he answered with a tender smile. "The pleasure is all mine, Xander."

"Friends or at least allies are good to have as you never know when you might need them." Xander said before he started to walk towards the showers. "It's not good to isolate your self." there were a few Rockets he has seen that tried to isolate themselves and they ended up in trouble one way or another. Even Seth who is well known for being a hard a** has a few friends. "Well Nakura, welcome to Team Rocket proper." he said with a smile.

"That may be true for some," Izaya countered, "But on the other hand, you can never put too much trust in people. There's always the chance they may turn their back on you. Or, more likely, stab you in your back." He chuckled. "The way I see it, it's use or be used. But don't let my way of thinking put you off." Entering the shower area, he removed his towel and tossed it on a rack without a second thought.

"Oh, no, you're right about that," Grunt Nakura agreed. "I'm not promoting isolation at all. I just don't think it's very smart to get too close to anyone either. There's a good, healthy distance to keep from people in general. It's dangerous otherwise." The brunette paused. "I like to think of people as 'acquaintances' rather than friends. It keeps everything simple, you know?"

He grinned, nodding in acknowledgement of the welcome. "Thank you. That makes me feel so much better inside," he laughed. Starting the shower, the slim-framed man shivered at the cold water, shaking his head as it fell across his face. "Seth, mmm? Who's that, exactly?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 27, 2011 9:22 pm

(I'm not sure if the showers would be like at camp where they have shower stalls or what as I have never been in a collage community shower room XD)

"Not everyone will turn on you." Xander said patiently. If Nakura wanted to believe in the worse of people that was his business but he figured he would at least offer his 'two cents'. The blond adverted his eyes from the other man when he flung off his towel before moving to one of the 'shower stalls' and stripping the rest of his own clothes. "Sure it keeps things simple but on the other hand that is still a very lonely way of thinking."

"Your welcome." Xander said as he stepped into his own stream of water. It seemed his was at least on the warm side of luck warm though as he didn't shiver. He blinked the water out of his eyes and thought back to what he had said. He didn't think he had mentioned the Agent's name out loud but he must have. "Seth is one of the higher ups. You don't want to get on his bad side and it's very hard to get on his good side. Or so I've heard as I have never met him my self."

((I...have no idea either. And I think Tawny asked about that in the Asking thread, but I don't yet see a reply. x_x I guess we're assuming shower stalls, then~

*headdesk* ACK. SORRY. I thought he had mentioned Seth in dialog! *goes to edit* Or - or - what should I do? Would it be easier for you if I kept things as they are?))

"Not everyone, surely, but in my previous business, it didn't do to take chances," the shorter man explained. "Hehehe...I guess it might seem lonely, yes. But when you love all of humanity like I do, you never really feel alone." He smiled suddenly, a mischievous thought coming to mind.

"Xander, what about you?" he asked, taking out the new bar of soap from its box. "You sound as though you have some particular protection from loneliness. Something or someone that gave you faith that not everyone will turn on you. Was there some life-changing event that gave you this idea, or are do you just naturally give people the benefit of the doubt?"
PostPosted: Thu Apr 28, 2011 3:28 pm

(*Shrugs* I guess so lol Ah you might as well keep it as it is. I'm just no sure how much information he had before your rp with Seth XD)

Loves all of humanity? Ok that was a bit different from what Nakura had been saying. Xander took it in stride though as he knew that some times people had interesting points of view. He almost dropped the bottle of shampoo he had picked up at the question though and he got a slight blush. "Ah well I like to think it's just my natural inclination as I've always had it." he said before he started to wash. There might have been a reason why he was a bit more cheerful then his usual self though he supposed.

((I don't think he had gathered much, except that Seth's name had been mentioned a few times from other people.))

"Please don't misunderstand," Nakura told Xander, realizing that his words might have sounded a bit contradictory. "I love humans as a race. I love them for their flaws and faults and their predictability, as well as their feats and unpredictability," he explained. "I just don't invest any attachment to any particular group or individual."

Hearing what he thought might have been some fumbling from Xander's stall, Izaya smiled silently to himself. "That so?" he murmured in reply, reaching for his own bottle of shampoo. "Good for you, then. It takes all kinds to make up this wonderful world, and I'm glad to have found some variety in you as compared to most of the other grumps around here."
PostPosted: Thu Apr 28, 2011 6:25 pm

(Mkay then =3)

"Ah, that makes more sense." Xander said. At least the explanation let him get some idea of what Nakura really felt. "I suppose that is an interesting way of looking at things." It was a bit weird to go into that type of thinking to Xander though so he just chalked it up to one of Nakura's oddities.

"Thank you I guess." he said as he finished washing his hair then moved to wash his body. "So I take it your one to people watch a lot?" He did so his self from time to time but it was more to just get the feel of the room then anything else. Other wise you might walk into a situation that is tense in some way or another.

"My favorite pastime, as a matter-of-fact," the grunt remarked, massaging the shampoo into his hair until it worked up a good lather. "I guess being a voyeur is something many people find...distasteful," he admitted, "But it's not as though I'm a stalker. I'm just content to watch people." He rinsed and was about ready to grab the conditioner when he realized something. He had forgotten to get some.

While discretion wasn't the first thing on his thoughts, Nakura figured Xander wouldn't mind if he went around to borrow some conditioner from his stall. After all, he thought for sure Xander used conditioner, what with that perfect, shining, healthy blonde hair of his.

"Xander-san, you wouldn't happen to have a bottle of conditioner, would you? I forgot some."
