For those of you not familiar with the term 'mercy killing', also known as euthanasia, the phrase is defined as using the means to help someone die because of their constant suffering in pain. In some cases, one most famous case concerning 'Dr. Death', doctors will inject a poison into the bloodstream of the patient who has been marked as terminally ill, signifying their life has reached the end because of the illness. The issue on whether it is correct to take the life of someone who undergoes terrible pain is still standing and I'd like to know what your position on this is. God granted us our life and we are entitled to it. However, do you believe that people have the right to die? Can they say, "No more, please... let me go"? Most importantly, is it correct for someone to take the life of another rather than keep fighting for their life until the last drop of hope runs out?
What do YOU think?

We do not belong to anyone, including ourselves. We and our lives belong to God. We can ask Him, "please let me come home", but in the end, it is up to God. It is not up to doctors or anyone else.
/short reply. I might have more to say as the topic progresses.

Yes, that makes sense. The reason I brought this up was because we began talking about this during my English class. Some of my peers said that we do have the right to die and that we may choose to have our lives cut if we feel like we can no longer go on. It makes sense, but then I ask myself, "The doctors, not even us, are God, so we can't have the final word on what will happen to us."
My aunt was diagnosed with cancer too late. She fought. But in the end, the doctors had to cut the life support system; it was too late. She would never be normal again. I suppose this is a form of mercy killing and to me, it seems right to end her pain. But then, it's also wrong to deprive ourselves of our right to live. I don't know, I'm just confused. I don't know where I stand. That's why I wanted to hear others out and maybe make out what I really believe.

You can tickle me pink, orange, red, or blue, but not grey I say the same as Paws. As for life support, that is a little more of a difficult thing. A lot of people on life support are already by doctor definition 'dead'. It's just making the chest move up and down. I think though the situation, if ever put to us, should be faced with us consulting the Lord about it.
-And I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt. My grandfather died of cancer as well in 2007 so I know how hard that is. He went during the night so we didn't have to worry about life support problems though.
Because grey will not do.

Yes, life support can be a touchy subject. I already know that I can't really rely upon myself for certain things, and that's where God comes in (like what Br1ttana said). At times, we may feel like we can't go on. But God won't give us more than we can handle. If we are dealing with something rough, I find that I can take a little bit of comfort knowing that God filtered what I am going through so that I can handle it. And I know that He'll walk with me through it.
I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt /hugs

I don't believe in mercy killing...at least not to the point where a doctor injects you with poison, or a friend slips you some pills to OD on...that sort of thing. Life support though...I'm not all too sure where I stand on that one. On one hand, sometimes all you can do is let go, because it's just their time to go. On the other, there have been cases where doctors say there's nothing left to be done, and no hope for recovery, but the person recovers despite all that. So it's a tough call either way...
God gave us life, and I guess I feel that to ask someone to kill you is the same as killing yourself, which I also believe is a sin. I feel like mercy killing, as well as suicide, is kind of like telling God that he doesn't know what he's doing. (That's not to say, however, that I believe that God sends sickness down on people, because I do not believe that sickness and disease is God's will for his people.)
Although life support...yeah. I guess all you can really do in that case is to pray about it, and ask God what he wants you to do. It's a very tough call.
And I'm also so sorry to hear about your aunt. : ( I hope she is in heaven, so you can see her again.

I have fought with this idea for about a year now. No one wants to die painfully, nor should they have to. Still who are we to determine that someone should die just because it hurts? Like you have all said before me, we are not God.
It is a tough call for me personally. It is such a grey area that I am not sure what is right.

I do not believe in mercy killing/euthanasia because God has the ultimate say in our fate. Some people may have more long term suffering than others, but it's probably all for a reason and if you are dying/terminally ill and still able to pray to God in your mind or with your mouth then you can ask him to bring you home if it's time and if you know you're suffering and dying, it's also okay to ask God for guidance and to be able to fulfill his plan with the end of your life.
I believe that mercy killing/euthanasia is considered ethical to a lot of people because they say, "If you truly love someone then you will let them go." and you can stop someone's suffering in that way. They also call it "assisted suicide" sometimes, so I believe it is a form of suicide and am against it and believe it's not part of God's plan. Although, if you're in a situation where you are dying and you can't decide for yourself and perhaps a family member takes you off of life support then there isn't much you can do about it and that wasn't your call so I don't believe God will judge you for that. To me, it seems like you play God when you do that and decide someone's fate and their final moments. I wouldn't do it to anyone unless God specifically told me to do so.

If you read my Testimonie in that area you can kinda see that doctors wanted to kill me.pull the plug and let me die because i was in so much pain as a baby and i was close to death. I think it is wrong 100 percent. i believie that people should live and keep on fighting for there life. we only get one life here on earth.
