"Fourth Basement Floor," Izaya murmured to himself as he stepped off the elevator, hands in his coat pockets. Glancing around with a gleeful grin, he regarded the place with the delight a child might express upon entering a new toy store. "So this is where they keep all the tech. Very flashy. I wonder if the people in the surveillence room are actually keeping watch." He grinned down at his pocket in which he played with a pokeball between his fingers. "Wouldn't that be a shame if there were to be taking naps like in the movies, Celty? I think we should test their awareness."

It was unknown to the Rocket Grunt whether or not he was allowed on the underground floor, but it didn't seem to much matter to him. As he saw it, he wasn't of a very high rank anyway, so he didn't believe he had much to lose. There didn't seem to be too many people around, either, so judging by the low level of human security, he didn't suspect they had too much to hide. That, or all security precautions were taken by unseen, high-tech equipment.

"Ah, well, this is the tech floor, after all," Orihara half-chuckled to himself, turning to his right as he decided to take a casual stroll down the corridor without any apparent destination in mind. It was before breakfast and he wanted to see who was up and about so early in the morning.

"Zeeeee... Zeeeee... Zeeeee."

The droning sound of a Porygon-Z filled the air, just as a blue specimen rounded the corner and was suddenly face to face with Mr. Orihara. It blinked at the Rocket for a moment, and turned its dismembered head upside down to look at him, seemingly confused as to why this man was in its way.

"Zeeeee..." After processing the situation for a moment, it then moved to go around him instead. Its head still upside down and keeping its line of site on Izaya as it went.

"Oh, look! A pokemon!" cried the brunette, finding himself face-to-face with the peculiar virtual creature. "Nice to meet you," he greeted with a playful smile and a mocking bow, highly doubting the Porygon-Z understood the gesture or the mockery behind it. It seemed somewhat confused as it turned its head, and despite everything, Izaya was somewhat unnerved at the odd behavior.

At least it didn't seem to have a problem with him. "Something the matter...?" he asked it, tilting his head as far as he could without falling over, turning to step aside as the Porygon-Z moved around him. He righted himself and laughed at it. "Would you stop staring at me like that? It's very unsettling; not to mention rude."

The blue Porygon-Z just looked at the man with an unblinking yellow stare. The Pokemon's emotions having flatlined for the time being, and apparently not at all picking up the inflections in Izaya's voice.

Suddenly, a voice from behind the man spoke up with an irritated but authoritative tone. "Do you enjoy bothering other people's Pokemon? You're distracting it, when it should be working."

"Zeee." The Porygon-Z turned its head right side up again and floated toward the owner of the voice, who was a very tall brunette with blue eyes that seemed to match the Pokemon's color. There was a glare on his face that seemed to be cemented there, and directed at the grunt. He also wore an interesting uniform that was predominantly white in color with black trim, and a black patch on the left breast with a red 'R' upon it.

Crimson eyes widened in surprise at the voice behind him. The grunt turned, hands still in his pockets, a small smirk on his face. "Distracting it?" he repeated. "I'm surprised the thing even has the capability to be distracted. It hardly seems to have the reactions of a living thing. And isn't it true this species was man-made...?" He observed the Porygon-Z and sneered. "Heh. If anyone's to blame, it's the person who trained it. They obviously didn't train it well enough if it gets so easily distracted."

"Unless, of course...you would happen to be said trainer," he added slowly, watching the pokemon float over to the tall, blue-eyed man. His glare was menacing enough, even without his tell-tale uniform. It didn't take a genus to tell this man was Izaya's superior in rank. Perhaps not so much in good humor, however. "Pardon me. I had no idea a greeting was so distracting. Pray tell...what exactly is its usual function?" He watched the disembodied forms hover beside the man. With such a chaotic physical state, he couldn't see how anything so absurd could be put to very good use. Even if it was an evolved form.

This grunt didn't have a chance as soon as he opened his mouth. Almost instantly the executive's anger was sparked and kicked into full gear. However, it wasn't until the idiot had finished his rambling that Seth reached out in attempt to grab the punk by the collar with every intent to slam him against the wall.

"Watch who you're talking to, grunt!" These words snapped with a clear, unrestrained rage that made it obvious that he wasn't going to tolerate such careless use of this lowly Rocket's commentary. Izaya had managed to indirectly a high ranking agent not once, but twice, in his ignorance.

"Yes, I'm its trainer, and I was partially responsible for its creation." These words hissed in a seething manner. Seth himself had played a part in creating the dubious disc which allowed Porygon2 to evolve into Porygon-Z. Yes there were flaws, but he wasn't about to take any lip from some stupid a** grunt.

Oh. Ouch. Wall. Not a gentle impact to his head.

"A-aren't you a little old to be playing bully?" Izaya gasped, his smile weak as he struggled to breathe. It might not have been the wisest thing to say in his situation, but that may have been due to the lack of oxygen getting to his brain. The man's grip on his collar was painfully tight, and it didn't help that he had more than half a foot on him in terms of height.

"It...ngh...it would help if I knew who I was talking to," he managed to utter, still not fully aware of the extent of his crimes. While he could understand his minor offense, he had hoped that the man - high in rank as he was, if uniform was anything to go by - would have cut a new recruit some slack. Evidently, that wasn't the case.

"Good for you!" the grunt replied gleefully, unable to keep the sardonic cheeriness out of his voice. Helplessness was not something Izaya was used to, and it made him giddily irritable. Back-talk was the only defense felt he had in such situations, dangerous as it was. The best he could hope for was to make his opponent so angry, they would screw up badly enough that he'd have the chance to escape.

"I wouldn't need to if you kept that hole in your face, shut!" Seth snapped back, a ridged scowl forming on his features as he soon realized just how ignorant this punk seemed to be. And while ignorance wasn't an excuse in Seth's mind, there was no point in beating the crap out of a clueless moron. Not yet anyway.

"Didn't you go through basic training? Or were you just not listening?" The man then snarled before loosening his grip on the grunt's collar, but still not letting go quite yet. If this moron knew anything, he'd know that Seth was wearing an executive's uniform.

"I'm Eli-Executive Agent Seth." He had only been newly promoted and was still getting use to the new title. "And who the hell are you?" He would be sure to mark this one down as an insubordinate troublemaker to keep an eye on.

During all of this, the blue Porygon-Z floated closer and peered at Izaya with that unblinking stare. It's head still upside down while the end of its bill was mere centimeters from his face.

"ZEEE!" Came a sudden outburst as the Pokemon's wings swiftly tilted upward and a cheerful expression now replaced the stoic one as its head turned right side up. Seth waved away the Porygon with his free hand, causing it to spin away and jerk its head abnormally. "Ze-ee-ee-ee."

"I was listening!" Izaya insisted as the grip on his collar was loosened. At least he had better access to the oxygen required to get his brain working. "I just don't exactly remember them covering what to do if you were slammed up against a wall by someone much stronger and taller than you," he answered, hoping to pacify the executive some with the discreet acknowledgement of his physical superiority.

He fought the powerful urge to draw out the switchblade in his coat pocket, knowing that could only get him into further trouble. The best he could do was attempt to maintain his composure and refrain from panicking. This was obviously a very important person if he thought he could enact such behavior and get away with it.

"Executive! Congratulations!" he told Seth quickly, catching the stammer of his words and quickly catching on. "I'm just a lowly grunt myself. Recently promoted from trainee, so you'll have to pardon my naivety. Adjusting to a new rank and all," he added, hoping to gain some of the other Rocket's empathy. "Grunt Nakura. At your service, Executive Agent Seth. My, that's quite a mouthful, isn't it? Mind if I just call you Exec? Or would 'Seth' do?" His mouth seemed to shoot off uncontrollably when he was between a rock and a hard place.

Ugh. There was that disturbing pokemon again. What was it doing, looking at him like that?

"Ehh - ?" Startled as the strange blue Porygon-Z erupted in an outburst all its own, Izaya seemed unsure how to react. Seth didn't seem to pay it much mind. "What's wrong with it?" He bit back the further comment of, Is it defective? just in case he were to inadvertently insult his captor once more.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 19, 2011 5:39 pm

"Then you should know how to tell ranks apart." Seth spat irritably before giving Grunt Nakara one final shove before releasing him. He had made his point, and that would do, for now.

Folding his arms across his chest, the executive took a step back to give the grunt some space. If only because the nervous rambling was starting to get on his nerves. However, that didn't stop Seth from glaring down at the smaller individual. "Seth or "sir" will do."

When attention turned towards the Porygon, the executive grunted with annoyance. "Its defective," he confirmed. "All Porygon-Z are to some extent." The project hadn't gone as smoothly as he would have liked. Beta's problem was maintaining its personality, or lack-there-of. They were supposed to be emotionless drone workers, but this one switched between that and a quirky attitude. At least it managed to get its work done... most of the time.

Izaya grimaced as he endured the reprimand. True, he had known Seth's rank by his uniform, but how was he supposed to know he was also the Porygon-Z's trainer? Besides that, how was he supposed to know this was the Seth; the one who was discussed so much among the lower ranks of Team Rocket? Not that the grunt was stupid enough to address any of these questions at the moment, of course. He thought he'd like to hold on to whatever dignity he was still in possession of currently.

With deep, slow breaths, Grunt Nakura waited until his breathing was regulated before meeting the executive's glare. It did not seem merciful.

"Is that so?" he murmured quietly, watching the haywire pokemon with a slight, bitter smirk. "Mind me asking why that is...? And...'sir'...if I may be so bold...why keep pokemon around which could be potential threats or accidents waiting to happen?"

People tended to learn very quickly that they had to be careful with their words around this particular elite now turned executive. Seth had a short fuse, and he didn't tolerate any sort of idiocy or what he perceived to be such. He typically didn't care if someone didn't know something or not. He would be quick to educate them.

The man grunted at the annoying, although relevant question. "It's flaws lie mostly in its personality. It's not supposed to have one. Other than that, its a fully functional Pokemon that's able to battle and do tech work. That's good enough for me." Kind of like with his Lugia, come to think of it. "It's not a threat. Beta is actually very competent when not being distracted by aimlessly wandering grunts."

"Zeeee..." The Pokemon said quietly, bowing its head in shame.

"Not suppose to have a personality, mm?" he repeated, his gaze falling on the quirky pokemon almost pityingly. "If that ounds to me like you would have had better luck with a robot rather than a living thing. It's their personalities that make them interesting, wouldn't you agree?"

He gave a light laugh at the mention of 'aimlessly-wandering grunts'. "Sorry to be a bother, then. I was just curious about the sort of technology that was worked on on this floor. You wouldn't happen to know, would you, Seth-kun?"

Oops. Slip-up. Hopefully the executive hadn't noticed.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 21, 2011 3:54 pm

But Seth did notice. Oh how he noticed. There was a slight twitch at the corner of one eye as soon as that title left the grunt's mouth. The only warning that Izaya got before Seth made a grab for his collar yet again to slam him against the wall with even more force than before.

"WHAT did you call me?!" the executive bellowed in a rage that caused his face to take on a more reddish tinge. There might have even been a vein bulging in his forehead. One thing that Izaya probably hadn't counted on was Seth being Japanese. It was his first language, and attaching the "kun" honorific to his name was considered extremely rude.

"This isn't a laughing matter, grunt! The only Japanese honorific I want to hear out of you is Seth-sama, understand?! Since you apparently didn't get it the first time, I'm sending you back to basic training!"

That would keep this punk busy for the next two months. Plus being back in basic training as a grunt, among a bunch of trainees, should be humiliating enough.

Ohhh...ouch. That would leave a bruise. The perpetual smirk was wiped right off the smaller man's face as he endured the physical and verbal beratements. He didn't dare to reply to the question, which seemed rhetorical as it was. As painful and frightening as everything was, though, Izaya could only think about how interesting the color of Seth's face had become. The veins were quite something to behold too.

"B-basic training?" he stammered, his face falling as the words registered in his brain. Indeed, Izaya wouldn't have guessed that Seth would have been Japanese, and he was starting to realize what, exactly, it meant that he was. "R-right...but..." He stopped himself. It wasn't much use arguing, was it? Besides, the strain his tightened collar was putting on his neck was beginning to cut off his oxygen supply yet again. It would probably leave a mark, reminiscent of a hangman's noose, for a while to come. This would have been ironic, considering Izaya was starting to feel like a dead man walking.

His head drooped and he sighed. "Yes, sir," the brunette answered, hoping to be put down, at the very least. If there was anything humiliating about the situation, it was being reminded what a physical weakling he was; especially compared to Seth. He would have enough of a reminder once he was running through trainee exercises again.

"Ah...does that mean I have to switch rooms again? I just moved in and all...and really, it would be more of a hassle for everyone if I were required to relocate." They would have to find a spot among the crowded trainee rooms to put him without exceeding the occupants per room, not to mention find a new partner to replace him for his roommate. It was a slim chance, but he hoped it was reasonable enough.
