Hobbies

And He Gently Caressed Her...: Genevieve is a hopeless romantic. And I do mean hopeless. Hopeless in the way that she sighs longingly at the end of every romantic comedy (even the ones starring Adam Sandler) and will tear up whenever the guy finally gets the girl. In Genevieve's world, the guy will always get the girl in the end.

Her bookshelf is filled with the last-choice pickings of the $1 bin at the local used book store, full of torn and wrinkled covers displaying muscled men in white shirts riding horses bareback into the sunset. She loves each one as much as the next. Her idea of love is a passionate one, idealized by what she has read but not really experienced. However, this comes with the alternative that all of her knowledge of love and relationships (and she does consider herself quite knowledgeable) comes from these books. She will often hand out that advice without any thought as to how it might affect the targeted relationships, using words like "heaving" and "smolder" to describe the proper romantic scenarios.

No, it doesn't matter if you want her advice. You're getting it. You're getting it because she knows what you should do and you clearly do not.

The Hills Are Alive, With The Sound of....iTunes?: Genevieve is the type of girl who will make you a mix tape. Or a mix CD. Or a mix e-mail with MP3 attachments, as the modern-day case may be. Or a long list of Youtube links.

There are key songs which she connects to basic emotions and specific events in her life. Vice versa, those songs will often remind her of those moments and inflict the moods she connects them with. For Genevieve, music is more powerful than what is "in" or "out" at the time. Because of this, she is almost always listening to music in some form, whether it's blasting out her bedroom window or blaring through the earbuds of her iPod. Unfortunately, this has lead to a habit of talking very, very, very loudly. She often makes individual playlists to fit the day ahead of her, so that she can loop them in sync with her day like some kind of soundtrack to her life. Genevieve tends to dance down the streets more frequently than she walks.

((I solemnly swear never to inappropriately use song lyrics in a post.))

Dear St. Francis Moogles IV...: Genevieve has kept a journal since she was a child, or at least she tries to. Often there will be weeks full of blank pages with nothing worth writing, and other times there would be page after page full of nothing but girlish rants about the same stupid boy. Over the years the name of the stupid boy might have changed, but the entries hardly did.

Virtues

Like A Bridge Over Troubled Waters...: Genevieve is an extremely well-balanced girl. She has been blessed with a life that is neither easy nor particularly hard. There have been good times and bad, and Genevieve has learned that these two tend to balance out. This has given her a certain resilience to keep her wits about her throughout both the good and the bad, which often comes into play via the role of “shoulder to cry on”.

I'll Be There...: Genevieve might not be anything special when it comes to academics or athletics, but she is a loyal, trustworthy friend. She's that one girl you felt comfortable telling your secrets to or gossiping with about the teachers you hate, because you know she won't tell anyone (except for that damn diary). She's the one that you know will be there with a hug and a sleeping bag when your parents refused to let you go see the new rated-R movie with the rest of the girls, because there's no way in hell her parents are going to go let her see it either. In fact, she will be there for you so much that you will not want her to be there for you anymore.

But she still will be. Good luck getting rid of her.

I Believe In You...: In the Great Debate of good versus evil, Genevieve believes that people are fundamentally good. This could be because she has yet to be expose to some of the darker sides of the world, or it could be simply because she sees so much good in the world around her. In simple acts of kindness, Genevieve is able to see the inherent good in people, and believes that evil is the exception. Not only does she believe people are good, but she wants to believe it. Because of this, she is willing to give people the benefit of the doubt in almost any situation, often long past the point where they actually deserve it. Maybe this is because she doesn't recognize a person who simply will not change, or perhaps she simply thinks that she will be the one to change them.

Flaws

You Didn't Mean That...Did You?: See also: naïve. Perhaps it's a side effect of having a “glass-half-full personality” and a relatively stable life, but Genevieve often forgets that people have the capacity for great cruelty. What the average person might see as malice or cruelty, Genevieve might just see as stupidity or misunderstanding. Maybe they just didn't know that choking a person kills them. After all, is the need for oxygen really common knowledge? Surely it was all just one big misunderstanding. This is likely going to get her into trouble, both as a senshi and as a teenager in a world where high school can be a hub of pettiness and cruelty.

Oh God, Did I Do That Right? : Genevieve second guesses almost everything she does. She is extremely unsure of herself (except when it comes to things involving the L-word, on which she considers herself the authority). While she may put more faith in others than she should, it often comes at the expense of faith in herself. Because of this, she can often be hesitant to act on assumptions which could be incorrect. This ties in with her naivety, because her difficulty with convicting someone of wrongdoing will interfere with her ability to act as a senshi. When the time comes for her to take up the fight as a senshi, Genevieve will have an issue with the violence, and it is going to take a long (and I do mean long) time for her to overcome the hesitation that will precede any combat. She will try reasoning, perhaps even bargaining, before she resigns to the fact that some people just aren't swayed by pretty words.

The Blame Game: Genevieve does not like to take the blame. For anything. Broken vase? Wasn't her. Undone homework? Dog ate it. Large sharpie marker on a dry erase board saying "Genevieve wuz heer"? What a ridiculous accusation. Perhaps it's because she believes, naively, that her intentions are always good that Genevieve is largely unable to take the blame for things. She tends to push it off onto someone else who better fits the bill.

Run Awaaaay!: Genevieve is not a brave individual, and in the inner battle between fight and flight, flight will almost always win. The only alteration to this will be when other people are involved, and even then she may very well high tail it out of there and leave them out to dry (if she's not trying to convince her opponent that they really don't want to hurt her, they're just confused! Only in the case of close, personal friends and family will she even consider sticking around. ((Note: This will change over time as Genevieve adapts to life as a senshi, and there's already a plot in mind to work through this.))

Senshi Stuff

Senshi: Sailor Calypso, Senshi of Forgiveness.

Challenge: Nothing is unforgivable! (CARMEN IS A CHEESEBALL AND I AM OKAY WITH THAT FACT)

Attack #1: Forgive and Forget

This is a mental attack which takes the “fire” out of her opponent for roughly a minute. This attack works by confusing the opponent, causing them to feel a sense of mercy towards Sailor Calypso. For a few minutes, they can't recall why they're fighting her, and all aggression towards her fades. Since I want to develop Calypso over time rather than having her come into battle with guns a blazing, this attack is used for one primary purpose; to get the hell out of there. Can be used up to twice per battle.

Attack #1a: The only addition here is that the attack carries a slight stunning effect on impact. Can only be used once per battle, and if it is used, it also consumes a use of the original attack. (Basically, she can only attack twice overall).
