I'll be honest.

When it comes to Casual Dueling I can be a pretty decent Duelist, and I try to at least follow the Traditional format, sometimes I'll even play by the Advanced lists. However, when it comes to experienced Tourney players I might as well be playing with Uno cards, I don't have access to some of the more powerful cards, the most recent booster I bought was the Bonds Beyond Time pack, before that I believe was the Duelist Pack Kaiba set.

My deck building skills are to be polite, less than decent, I had posted my CyDra deck thinking it wouldn't take much to upgrade it for the tournament scene. Living a half hour from Omaha Nebraska I could make it to some of the events.
My deck, one of my favorites only loses to hardcore duelists, and I know there are things about Dueling I can't learn from any book or site I manage to find.

So I'm requesting some lessons and MAYBE someone with enough patience to go through my card list when I manage to update it and help me throw together a really nice competitive deck. Maybe even trade me for cards I would need, since this person would have a list of EVERY card I own, would already know what he or she would want before building the deck.

I do have a Spellcaster deck I play with sometimes that kinda revolves around Dark Magician, I have yet to turn it lose against someone I know has or can tear my other decks apart. Last I checked it followed the lists, I haven't checked it for the updates yet, but since its been my trump card deck in the past I'll Duel whoever wishes to aid me as it is right now.

This way my potential tutor can not only see how I duel but some of my deck building skills in the process.

First, allow me to apologize to you for such a late reply and inactivity.

To the subject, I would not advise one specific tutor. It may be helpful, but only at first. The best for you to do when looking for experience is to watch the competitive field and listen to multiple people, not just one.

Varying opinions and advice is good. It allows you to develop your own mind to the given situation, even if it's simply choosing a side.

The best you can do, is to do as you're doing. Ask for critique on decks, ask to duel more, and ask about the decks that you see or face.

It's also incredibly important to know your rulings. Not only will it prevent you from making an error during play, but decks can and do grow around card rulings.

And, for the collection, don't. It absorbs too much time in this game, and to be fair, the actual card pool far outweighs the playable card pool.

I don't have any access to the competitive field, except maybe through this Guild, and my attempts to accept duel challenges has only led to the challenger not being on.

I know varying opinions is good, I always prefer a second opinion but a single tutor would help me get started and cover some of the things I'm not aware of at this time. I wouldn't tkae that tutor's advice as set in stone, but merely a guide for my career in Dueling.

I usually check the rulings while I'm playing, I got into the habit of having the yugioh wiki open during all my duels and refer to the Tips section for "new" ways to play my cards.

Yeah I figured the collection thing wouldn't go over too well, but didn't think it'd hurt to throw it in there.
