Morimer of Pearlmouth Morty blinked as the autumn air whispered past him. A new school year, and new people. He thought as he watched a group of new pages being shown around.
He was a squire himself. Squire, to Zahir ibn Alhaz, in fact, who was only seven years older than him. He often wondered why the man had offered him the opportunity, since they were so very different, but they got along quite well. Morty would swear the other was like an eldar brother or an uncle to him.
I wonder where Jinxy and Lance are, he thought. He had not seen the others for quite some time. Their duties during the summer months had taken all three of them in as many directions. Of course they had written letters when the chance was affored, but still, he had missed them.
Just call me Morty....

Gale ( a.k.a. Jinxy) of Legann ¤¤ ¤¤ ¤¤ Gale ran across the lawns, knowing full well how the gardeners hated it when she did, but her goal was far more important than any gardener's outrage over his carefully maniqured grass. She had been given a day off by her Knight Master (Sir Oakbridge), which was a rare kindness, but a nod to the fact that she had preformed her dutied well, and that she had not seen her freinds for a long time. She rather liked being Sir Oakbridge's squire for all the horror of her classmates when she told them she'd accepted the post. Making order was one of the duties of a knight, and is was not as though wielding sword was not part of a day's work. Oakbridge could drill her like the best of them. Wind pulled her hair out of her carefully done-up hair as she raced towards the familiar large figure on the horizon. That, she thought decidedly and correctly, will be Lance. With no thought for her outfit or decorum, she tackled the boy gleefully, knowing well that the result would probably hurt her more than him. But it was the shock that counted.

Donan of Blue Harbour... @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@Lance Lance blinked as someone pumled into him. There was no question of his staying on his feet; the blow was not that large, but it had surprised him enough to wind him. "Oh, it's you is it, Jinxy?" he said, not all that surprised. "Long time no see." he added as an afterthought. He looked down amiably at the slight but all the more intense girl with the orange hair. She had grown a bit, perhaps, but changed more. However, if the form of greeting was any indication, nothing essential had changed. "Have you seen Morty around yet?" he asked. ____________________________________** * _____________

Gale ( a.k.a. Jinxy) of Legann ¤¤ ¤¤ ¤¤ Gale made a face at the other. "Nice to see you too!" she retorted, then fingered a lock of her ruined coffiure thoughtfully. "No, I haven't, actually." she said, then narrowed her eyes up at Lace. "I heard you've been up Scanra way." she said. "Got any news?" She shrugged. "Things are fine here, but I do miss the gore, you know?"

Donan of Blue Harbour... @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@Lance Lance smiled slowly. "I'm sure you do." he said, remembering how this girl could shock even the most seasoned soldier with her love for the gruesome. It was all the more shocking in that from the look of her, you would never guess. As a page she had gotten the reputation of being ruthless, merciless, and slightly psychopathic when it came to fights, even though she was very strict with herself about being lady-like. Probably why Oakbridge likes her so much. He thought, but knew better than to voice this reasoning. ____________________________________** * _____________

Katya of Frasurlund After leaving the security and dark comfort of the library, Katya was afflicted with a temporary blindness as she stepped out into the bright sun shining over the Palace grounds. Blinking away purple and white spots from her eyes, Katya looked at the familiar surroundings from a new perspective. Now that she was a knight, it was as though she was seeing the Palace in a whole new light. No longer burdened by the worries and stress that comes with being in training for knighthood, Katya could admire the grounds and watch the trainees rushing about at her leisure. Well, at least until Tortall is in need of my services as a knight, she thought wryly. From her vantage point along the edge of the grounds, the young knight watched pages and squires form clumps and groups. Those on their own were on the look-out for their friends and year mates. Funny how much difference time and title can make Katya mused silently. A breeze ruffled her pants and tunic, comfortable clothes made in shades of blue and gray. Strands of her blonde hair floated into her line of vision, obscuring her blue-green eyes. Raking her hair back into place, Katya turned her attention to the quiet murmurings of the guards, clustered in a group over by the entrance to the Palace grounds, the large wooden gates in the Palace wall. Gale ( a.k.a. Jinxy) of Legann ¤¤ ¤¤ ¤¤ "Oh look!" cooed Gale, waving at a tall blonde woman excitedly. "Katya! Katya!" she called, making a number of passers-by look at her in surprise. Gale paid them no mind, fixed on the lady-knight. "Do come over here Katya!" she said. "Gosh!" she added to Lance breathlessly. "Isn't she pretty?"

Donan of Blue Harbour... @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@Lance Lance scowled as Gale waved the Lady Knight over. There really were times when he could lock her up somewhere were she could not cause general embarrasment to those in her vicinity. He looked that Lady Katya and did his very best to figth the rolling red tide he was sure was running up his neck onto his face. Pretty doesn't come close. He thought, wondering desperately how he could get out of having to talk with the woman. ____________________________________** * _____________

Katya of Frasurlund

The lady knight turned at the sound of her name, her gaze almost instantly lighting upon the source. Walking over to join the two trainees, Katya noted that the third member of their infamous trio was strangely absent. "Gale! It's good to see you again. Did your break bring about anything interesting?" Addressing the flame-haired squire's companion, Katya said "Hello Donan. I hope you have been well. How has summer treated you?"

Gale ( a.k.a. Jinxy) of Legann ¤¤ ¤¤ ¤¤ "Oh hello Katya!" said Gale, happily. "Where have you been in your smart new lady-knight skin? Any juicy news about some slaughter somewhere? Don't hold out on us! I bet you've already done HEAPS of heroic stuff while we rot here..."

Donan of Blue Harbour... @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@Lance Lance did his best to look disinterested, darting a slight frown at Jinxy. "Yeah, I'm fine, thanks." he managed, then shrugged at the next question. He was a man of few words to begin with, and the proximity of the Lady Knight was not helping. He mentally conjured up various ways to torture Jinxy. "Have you been up Scanran way?" he asked. Mentally torturing Jinxy seemed to help quite a lot. ____________________________________** * _____________

Morimer of Pearlmouth Morty heard a familiarly annoying shriek of excitement.
Ah, he thought, smiling that will be Jinxy, then. He turned around to see Lance and Jinxy in the company of that Scanran lady knight. To be precise, she was Tortallian, but she looked exactly like a Scanran. Well, no, that was not true either. He never thought of Scanran looking that good.
Shaking his head clear of traitorous thoughts, he strolled over to the group only to be assailed by Jinxy in a bear hug.
"Ouf!" he said, as Jinxy almost chocked him in her enthusiasm. "I do need some air to breath, Jinxy." he said reproachfully, peeling off the affectionate arms with some trouble.
"Hello everyone." he added. "Semester's up again, huh?"

Gale ( a.k.a. Jinxy) of Legann ¤¤ ¤¤ ¤¤ Jinxy pulled a face at Morty. "That's right," she said, pouting horrendously. "Blame a girl for being happy to see you. I could go and get all insulted about that, but you're simply not worth the effort." She danced beside Katya and took her hand. "I really think we ought to go somewhere where there aren't any annoying boys around, don't you think so? Then we could have a proper, civilised conversation." This statement was carefully executed with an assortment of strange and unusual faces. "Now do tell, Katya dear," she continued, poker -faced. "Just how many heathens have you disemboweled so far?"

Katya of Frasurlund

Keeping her face as blank and serious as possible Katya looked solemnly at each of the three friends. "I spent my summer battling hordes, rescuing those in distress and other such heroic actions." She broke into a grin. "However, since the hordes were my multitude of cousins and those in distress were the servants and the rest of my family, I am sorry to report that my heroic deeds have been quite bloodless," she finished with a shrug. Tilting her head towards Lance, she continued "I have been skirting Scanra's border, but the only things I've heard are rumors, most of which are contradictory. There are whispers of an army, whispers of surrender and whispers of internal strife. All I know for certain is that Scanra is supposed to be sending an ambassador our way. Whether he is here to speak of diplomacy or merely to spy remains to be seen."
