Tale
Because... it's just that awesomely important

User Image

The people of Arad have always found that they have lived one life and continued on to the next. While they are, in fact, true...there can sometimes be more to the great tale. It was once a tale told within stone, but soon spread to the many worlds. . . There was once a place, above Arad that was where their people came from. While as children, many heard the tales of Arad, but no one would ever come back after finding their way there....it was fate that brought many of them there....

But it was their curse that would keep them there.

Many people have told the tales that at the top of Sky tower is the only way back to the realm of the living...but even that is a difficult journey...with friends in tote, our heroes will push their way through the odds and reach home again. What obstacles lie ahead, what friends and enemies will cross their paths....find out in the Chronicles of Arad.

As he sat his sharp green eyes stared off into the distance as his watched from a rock where the many people walked past. He had a cigarette in his mouth, something he did rarely...perhaps once a week, but that was a normal thing. He recalled Seria bringing in someone a while back...and he wondered if Kiri had gotten a hold of them. He switched the cigarette to the left side of his mouth and then he stood silently. He would have to do this now or forget. Thirty years can do that to a person...well 60 technically, but there was no point in counting anymore.

He passed Linus silently and then made his way to Hendon Myre, a place where he hadn't been in ages. Kiri would be there, but he had no time to actually talk to her. He made his way to the bar instead, wondering if he could find the kid that Seria had helped a little while back. He'd seen him enough times to know what he looked like then, but even now, he could possible only see his face and know who he was.

This was going to be a long day.

She was tired, she was badly wounded, and she was stuck in Poison Thunderland alone. She held her gun close and she was prepared for anything. It was almost like it was a now or never ordeal, but it was also one of those things that just screamed bad luck. She wanted to leave, but she closed her eyes instead, drifting in and out of sleep.

He was bored, sitting at the bar with his best friend and was putting them down quick. This was no line of work, he wanted to be happy. Standing up quietly, he looked over to his companion who tilted one more back before getting to his feet.

"What's goin' on, Ai?" The blond stared at him, clearly confused.
"Nothing, I'm just ready to go...Let's get going. I need to do something, starting to feel stiff."
The blond laughed, clearly a bit amused, "Right,right....lets get going."

They paid their tab and left quietly. It was time to have a bit of fun.

Dyaus dragged himself to the bar in Hendon Myre. He looked like a mess, then again, who wouldn't after some long hours on the Behemoth. He was a launcher alright, that cannon slung around on his back was unmistakable.

His dark grey hair had been grown out, his face was marked with black ink, and he no longer wore the old Blood Hawk coat. His coat was that nice orange-yellow color and had smaller sleeves and black bandage tape wrapped around his fore arms.

The launcher made his way over to a chair and pulled the cannon off his back. He leaned back in the chair, facing up at the ceiling. His back was aching from the weight of the cannon, so some time to relax on a chair was a refreshing moment.

"Of all the things. . . KATHEL!" the ranger yelled at his Berserker comrade. Well, berserker in training. Either way, he was helping the slayer train, although he questioned the career choice.

A lugaru leapt up at him only to be shot square in the face with a crossbow gun. Another came up and the ranger pulled a windmill kick. He got back onto his feet and charged for the goblins. Ugh, goblins, how much he hated those stone throwing bastards.

Ah but he didn't have to worry much, the damned 'zerker charged right past him and nailed a combo. The ranger walked over to the carnage, "Nice."

"Meh, it wasn't much. Let's go and kill some more. I still have to find that penril. . Or whatever it's called," Kathel shrugged. He rested his bloody katana on his shoulder and continued in deeper into the poisoned forest.

"Right behind ya," the ranger rolled the his cigarette to the other side of his mouth. He kept his hand resting on the handle of the crossbow gun, just in case he had to do a quick draw.

They went further in and, just as expected, more goblins and lugarus galore. What wasn't expected was the injured Empyrean woman-Wait, Empyrean?! "Kathel, let's make this quick. I don't think she's going to make it back to town by herself."

"Alright, let's do it!" The slayer leapt up and came down onto the crowd of monsters with the mountainous wheel. That got their attention off the woman for the time being.

"Oy, you missed some," the ranger called out as he opened fire on the scattered monsters.

Verla grumbled at the noise, she couldn't tell for a moment who it was but when she looked up she saw them fighting off the things that had nearly killed her. She didn't keep her eyes opened for long however, that feeling of sleep kept bothering her. She sighed and shuffled a bit before sitting up a bit more to stare at them. Who were they? Then again...this was a common place, she supposed. She opened her mouth to speak but instead whinced in pain as a jolt ran through her. She didn't know what was wrong, but she also didn't want to know why it hurt that bad. "Who are you...?" Her voice was soft, but very weak. (Enter button doesn't work D*< *Slaps with Fish*)

Neither ranger or slayer heard her over the fighting. Most of the monsters were taken care of by the slayer. If it was the ranger, then it wouldn't have been over that much more quickly. He looked over at the woman and knelt down. "Come on, let's get you back to town."

"Think she'll be alright, Ibsen?" Kathel asked.

"If she's lucky. Yeah. Think you can take on the Penril by yourself?" the ranger asked.

"Yeah, you're not really helping much anyways," Kathel laughed.

"Ha ha, okay, you're on your own Kathel. I'm gonna take her back to Hendon Myre. You better not die while I'm gone." Ibsen turned his attention back to the woman, "You need help getting up?"

She didn't know what to say, her hazel eyes staring at him for a moment before she realized she was staring. She looked away and tried to get up on her own, but to no luck. She gave a small, embarassed nod. It wasn't every day that she got help from people like this. The last person that helped her was her old boss and he tried to be a tough guy, but that didn't always go around the way he wanted it to. "Thanks for the help...My name is Verla...You?"

"Ibsen, call me Ibs if you want," the ranger told her as he hoisted her onto his back piggyback style. "And we're off. . . Later Kathel and don't die!" Ibsen called after the slayer as he made his way back towards town.

"I won't!" Kathel yelled back and headed in the opposite direction.

Verla felt embarassed, "Some Ranger I am" She speaks softly as she rests her head on his shoulder, "So, Ibsen...you must've been here for a spell...or at least longer than me." She was trying to make small talk. Something she doesn't often do, but decided to since the guy was helping him, she should make some small talk. "I feel so young here...well, technically I am...but that shouldn't matter much. I'm just glad someone actually came through and saved me. If you and your friend didn't come through..." There was a pause, "I'd rather not think of what could've happened to me if you didn't find me." She laughed lightly, trying to feel some sort of positivity from her situation. "Guess what I'm trying to say is thanks, Ibsen. I owe you one."

"It's not a problem. What the hell were you doing back there all by yourself anyways?" Ibsen asked. He looked around to check for any stragglers that he and Kathel had missed on the way in. So far, so good.

An elementalist-in-training ran up to the two Empyreans in town. "Umm. . . Have you guys seen a launcher with grey hair and lines tattooed on his face?" she asked almost immediately.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 05, 2011 1:36 pm

The two Empyreans looked at one another before the blond looked at the mage, "Hmm...yeah I'm pretty sure I saw a Launcher go into the bar before we left, right Ai?" His blue eyes stared at him lazily before he folded his arms.

"Yeah, He was heading into the bar when we were leaving. You a friend of his?" He figured that the two knew each other, but wouldn't bother him much in the same since.

~+~
"Oh, I was trying to train myself....It didn't go so well, and I thought I could handle it, but I suppose I was wrong." He closed his eyes and leaned onto his shoulder again.

"If it's the same launcher I'm looking for, yes," she nodded. "We got separated back in Shadow Thunderland. So. . . If he's here in town, I wanna let him know that at least I'm still around." The mage looked down. "Then I all I have to worry about is the other member of our party."

~~

"Came in without much of a plan, huh?" Ibsen smirked. Ah, he could heard his deceased father scolding him back in his childhood. Plan for this, plan for that . . . Good times.
