That is a very interesting thread. I can only immagine that it was run by atheists, or people who don't know God. In which case, they can't say what God can't do because they know nothing of Him. They can't take some random person off the street and say "Oh this person does this and that and will never do this." You don't know them at all so you can't say what they like to do, what they don't like to do, etc. In the same way, people who don't know God (whether atheist or not) cannot say "God dosn't do anything." Especially not when God is the most hardest person to understand.
People who actually know some thigns actually know that God works through prayer. Miracles have occured inside and outside the Bible by prayer. God certainly works through prayer but 1) You have to have faith and 2) Are you praying the Lord's will?
Prayer is of top priority and especially helpful in circumstances such as these.

Why is it bad to pray for the people of Japan?
Didn't God say that if you ask and have faith that it will happen.
Yeah I'm still going to pray for the safety of those people.
