Nysa, Knight of Neptune Quest

[Main Profile information here]

Knight Title: Nysa, Page of Neptune

Challenge: "Shall we dance?" (or "For the Protection of Neptune!”)

Uniform:

User Image

Top -- I like this style of coat - generally just classy, elegant... but obviously incorporating a bit of the "mythical sea" theme. I don't want the "mythical sea" theme to be overbearing though.
Bottoms -- See reference in Top section.
Gloves -- He would have gloves that cover the full finger/hand, merely to keep clean.
Belt -- Whatever looks best
Shoes -- Boots of some sort, something elegant
Shoulders -- perhaps something seashell-like? Perhaps epaulettes with seashell danglies?
Accessories -- Since Howl wears long dangling earrings normally and ornamental hair sticks, I'd love to see these get converted into something seashell-themed.
Weapon -- (As it was noted in the weapon description blurb, I understand that bladed weapons will be rare and have a significant drawback. However, considering the character I have and his history with fencing, it just feels wrong to not give him something that is themed towards his fencing background. This is a rather personal preference of mine, and I honestly am willing take any drawback to have this be the weapon set for Howl.)
Page: Fencing Sabre with no magical property, which honestly doesn't do much damage and breaks quite easily (the "blade" section can snap right off easily).
Squire: Basic Rapier with no magical property. The length of the blade is mostly dull, with the tip of the rapier being the only part that can actually cut (meant to mimic the fencing sabre). Considering Howl's mediocrity with fencing (despite all his years dedicated to the sport), he will be at a great disadvantage even with a legitimate weapon.
Knight: Elegant Rapier with Seashells decorating the base. Edges of the blade are sharper, but the tip of the blade is still the key striking point.
Magical Property: (playing off the "theme" of grace) Debuff which makes the target's movements more clumsy (less graceful) for 30 seconds. Ideally, I'd prefer this debuff to only affect the target if Nysa manages to cut the target with his weapon. If Nysa is not holding onto his weapon and the opponent gets cut on the blade, there is no effect.

Main Color: Main color is the dark blue from Sailor Neptune's Fuku. Secondary is the teal color from Sailor Neptune's Fuku. Think like a reversed version of Neptune's colors, with whites as accents.

THIS IS THE APPROVED QUEST.

Nysa, Knight of Neptune Quest (secondary version)

(I would really prefer the proposed weapon set from the first post, but this is just in case. Again, the first post is what I really want.)

Knight Title: Nysa, Page of Neptune

Challenge: "May I get that in writing?" (or "For the Protection of Neptune!”)

Uniform:

Weapon --
Page: Quill/feather pen using a swan feather. Nysa treats this item with extreme care. No magical properties.
Squire: Swan feather quill pen still (with maybe a ribbon tied to the base), but now with a slight magical property. That property can only be channeled when he is writing with this pen (or going through the motions), and only if it is beautiful/elegant/graceful writing. It boosts a single ally's movements to be more fluid/graceful for either as long as Nysa is writing. Considering it would be a fight, he most likely would not be able to write for longer than 30 seconds uninterrupted (To clarify, the time limit would be 30 seconds maximum).
Knight: Swan feather quill pen with a small decorative section about the base (perhaps beads + tiny seashells + ribbons). The magical property is stronger, but it still can only be channeled when going through the motions of graceful lettering. It now boosts his own movements as well as an ally's movements to be more fluid/graceful. Regardless of how long he goes through the motions, this boost lasts for 45 seconds flat. It is an ever so slightly more powerful boost, but it's not enough of a difference to be noted (the main difference is the number of people affected and the amount of time they are affected).

Main Color: Main color is the dark blue from Sailor Neptune's Fuku. Secondary is the teal color from Sailor Neptune's Fuku. Think like a reversed version of Neptune's colors, with whites as accents.

More information on Nysa

A section for other information about Nysa that is not on the actual form

About Nysa: In Greek mythology, the mountainous district of Nysa, variously associated with Ethiopia, Libya, Tribalia, India or Arabia by Greek mythographers, was the traditional place where the rain nymphs, the Hyades, raised the infant god Dionysus, the "Zeus of Nysa".

Why Neptune: I honestly wanted to find a planet which suited Howl as a character more than anything. The themes of "Music, grace, generosity" fit him as an individual, especially grace and generosity. He as an individual is not musically inclined, despite the fact his mother indeed wishes he had some sort of musical talent. He, however, is known to appreciate music and sometimes does wish he had the talents his mother had wished for him. Howl is definitely a stickler for appearance, including mannerisms. He is viewed as mature, and perhaps a bit more graceful than most of his peers. Howl is also frequently a kind individual, which has him doing the generous thing (such as volunteering his time manning a pumpkin carving station for his parents or accompanying a little girl who was refused passage into a teen-and-up masquerade). I am certain there are other planets that have other themes which also suit him, but for me, I think that Neptune just fits Howl.

Fighting Style: Regardless of which weapon set he starts with, Howl (as Nysa) will heavily rely on his training with his footwork in fencing. He will most likely try to remain defensive/evasive in the beginning. If he has his fencing sabre, he may try to use that for distancing himself rather than for any legitimate offensive strategy. However, his fighting style will be forced to evolve when he finally comes to understanding that, unlike fencing which has multitudes of rules, the opposition doesn't play by rules necessarily. The specific style he takes will depend on the weapon (Rapier/ Active Offensive versus Quill/Evasive assist with occasional offensive).

Hey Lizzy!

I'm so excited to see Howl up here! I think he would make an awesome knight, especially with what fencing he knows. <3 And I think he's a perfect match for Neptune.

Would Nysa be able to use his ability on himself? Like, make himself even more graceful in order to avoid being hurt/as a means of escape? Right now it seems like he can only use it on other people, so I didn't know if that was something you've already ruled out or not. It might just give him something to do if he got into trouble on his own. I could imagine it would be very frustrating for an opponent to try and catch him!

Hi Guine! Thanks so much, I hope he works out 3nodding

Anyways, for the quill pen weapon, in the middle stage he cannot use the ability for himself. He'll just have to suffer and figure out how to fend for himself. Gives him something to work at. However, in the final stage, it is noted that he can use the ability on himself as well as an ally. It's more of a developmental thing for me, so that he has to learn to defend himself initially without the aid of magic + work with some sort of back up/team.

Oh jeez, stupid me. It does say that. DX

That makes sense then.

What about if he ends up having to physically fight someone? Will he still try to evade them (if he has the quill for a weapon), or will he be able to throw a few punches/find something else to aid him? I know you have him as defensive/evasive (at least in the beginning), so unless he gets a sabre, will it still develop like that?

I'm not sure how much this is helping... for which I apologize... :<

I am fine with answering questions... it makes it more fun for me :B

Anyways, part of the reason why Howl was brought into fencing in the first place was to give him an alternate manner of defending himself, since he's not exactly Mr. Burly ROUGH-EM-UP guy. His parents knew he wasn't ever going to be a tough guy, so they tried to give him an alternate by learning to dodge xd

I suspect that as Nysa learns the PLEASANTRIES OF BATTLE, he will have to learn in regards to how to do something other than DODGEY MCDODGERPANTS. If he gets the sabre, he will move more towards active offensive. If he gets the quill, he will still be defensive/evasive, but probably with the occasional necessary punch of fail thrown in xd *goes to update that a little in the fighting style section* 8>

First Quest Version:

The first quest you have for Howl involves a weapon that is too weapon-y! Knights should not have blades, even though, as a civilian, he fences. So that won't get a stamp. Plus, Neptune is all about music, grace, and the sea. The sword is too much of a stretch, I'm afraid.

Neptune -- Music, grace, generosity.
Neptune -- Mythical sea and music. Think Atlantis, with a hint of ballroom dancer.

Fencing is cool and so are sabres, but I don't think it keeps in line with his planet enough for this weapon to be approved!

Second Quest Version:

The quill fits nicely with the graceful, fluid aspect of Neptune, and the magic looks good!

THE QUILL-PEN VERSION OF THE QUEST IS THE ONE THAT IS APPROVED.
