It wasn't often Claire had spare time during the day for frivolous activities like swimming for fun, but it just so happened that today was her day off and she'd finished training her pokemon for the day, had cleaned her room, organized her dresser and closet (again), and finished training herself as well. She'd probably have more things to do later, like eat dinner, but for now, she could relax.

Thankfully her last training exercise had been swimming laps, as that enabled her to stay in the pool and float around for a while. Which was a wonderful thing, because the water was warm - warmer after recalling her Glaceon into her pokeball because of her exasperating habit of making ice paths over the surface of the water to skate across - and she had no desire to get out into the cooler air just yet.

A gold and white Pidgeot stood near one of the corners of the pool, preening herself, while a shiny Pikachu swatted at the water from the edge. Claire had no intentions of letting her electric-type into the pool while she was in it. It wasn't that she didn't trust him, of course, it was just... she didn't trust him. He was Zeus. He'd shock her in the pool just for fun. Near the mischievous Pikachu, a uniquely-colored blue Eevee rolled around and pounced on a squeaky toy, made all the more loud due to the sound bouncing off the many hard surfaces in the spacious room. The young woman did her best to ignore the annoying, repetitive noise as she tread water, though kept a careful watch on the little blue fluffball. There was no telling what trouble the 'vee would get herself into.

"No, Shin, stop!" Cassie shouted as she approached the pool. It was time for her daily swim with her Oshawott, and he knew it--he always got so excited when they went to the pool, especially because there wasn't ever anybody down there at this time of the day.

Except Cassie had glanced through the window and seen someone, and Oshawott was headed straight for them to ruin their day.

Quickly making up her mind, Cassie dashed after Shin and caught him 'round the middle just before he jumped in the pool not three feet from the other woman.

"I'm so sorry," Cassie gushed quickly, regretting that she'd left Shin's Pokeball in her locker in the changing room. Edging carefully away from the edge of the pool, apologetic smile still in place, Cassie kept a firm grip on her partner. "I'll just...go grab his Pokeball, I'm really sorry to disturb you. Kids, huh?" she added, making a joke in hopes that the other Rocket member wouldn't actually kill her.

Of course, then Shin just had to squirm out of her arms to run over to her Eevee anyway.

Cassie groaned and hung her head.

"Do you mind if they play together?" Cassie asked, smiling weakly. "Knowing Shin he'd probably pop out of his ball anyway, rebellious little thing," Cassie said, shaking her head fondly. She'd had Shin for quite a while now, but he still didn't seem to like being told what to do too firmly.

With topics for conversation having run out, Cassie just stood there, arms folded across her middle, chewing on the edge of her lip a bit anxiously. Why did everything she touch turn to awkward sometimes?

The sudden shouting caught her attention, and by the time violet eyes flitted to the door there was an excited little Oshawott about to jump in near her, and a girl grabbing hold of it before the little water-type freed itself and ran off to the Eevee. It happened so fast, Claire had enough time to lift her eyebrows and listen quietly, and little else. "Not at all," she replied languidly, watching as Blue dropped her squeaky toy and assumed the 'let's play' stance of her front paws stretched out in front of her while her behind wiggled in the air. "Vui!" The Pikachu rolled bright green eyes at the pair, muttering an indignant "chu" before he continued batting at the water.

"Kids?" She repeated, one eyebrow lowering while the other stayed up in a tell-tale expression of mild curiosity and possibly something else. "You don't look like one to me, unless you meant your Oshawott --" Shin, was it? Interesting name, "-- and in that case, I'd have to apologize in advance for saying you baby it too much." Anyone who called a pokemon their 'child' in all serious needed, in her opinion, to be beaten to knock some sense into them. Pokemon were wild creatures, domesticated or not, and were in no way anything like human children and should not be treated as such.

But she shook her head in a physical attempt to clear away her thoughts, realizing a bit too late such a statement could be taken the wrong way by this girl she didn't even know. Not that it really bothered her too much, but still, it was best to try and get along well with co-workers. "Anyway, my name's Claire. What's yours?"

Cassie blinked, then laughed and shook her head as she sat down on the edge of the pool, dangling her feet in the water.

"Oh, no, I didn't mean me, or Shin. I was joking, even though I probably do baby him too much, so you're forgiven in advance," she explained, eyerolling at herself before chuckling and offering an easy smile at the other girl--Claire. "I'm Cassie, it's nice to meet you," she said, adding the last by force of habit as she slipped all the way into the water.

She turned her head when she heard the excited squeaks and shouts from the two Pokemon, and smiled to herself. At least they weren't fighting, maybe this afternoon could be saved from being totally embarrassing yet.

It was about then that she noticed the Pikachu that was splashing the water. My, doesn't he look...angry.

"You sure it's safe to swim?" Cassie asked, nodding to the orangey Electric type. "He doesn't look so pleased to be down here," she explained, leaning against the edge of the pool as she looked back at the other girl.

"Oh, good," she replied, expression lifting to a more content look as the other girl slipped into the water. Company wasn't... a terrible thing, and she did need to meet more people on base, so it was probably a good thing. Even if had ruined her alone-in-the-pool time. "Babying them too much isn't good for either party. A bit is fine, I think, but too much and then they start disobeying or something." Then again, she could think of a good number of occasions where Zeus had disobeyed her, but he'd been sneaky about it. Until he got caught, and spent about a month on the treadmill.

Claire submerged up to her chin, long black hair flowing out around her as violet eyes flitted from Cassie to the mentioned Pikachu and back, but shook her head, sending more ripples through the already ripple-filled pool. "No, he's fine," she said with a smirk as she extended a slender hand to flick a few droplets of water at the electric-type's face. The reaction she received was the one she desired - the indignant Pikachu immediately jumped up with a threatening growl, cheeks sparking. "He'll behave if he wants his chocolate cookies later," she explained, leaning back and spreading her arms out to help keep her afloat, focusing on the other girl but watching Zeus out of the corner of her eye. The chubby rat huffed and plopped down onto his rear, folding his arms over his chest and pinning his ears to his skull, glaring at his trainer with every fiber of his very being. His vehement, sulking display looked, as per usual, much more comical than anything else. Somehow she refrained from laughing at him. "He's never pleased with anything or anyone unless he's got chocolate. Obsessed with the stuff for some reason, though I'm not sure why."

Why? Why?! Only because chocolate, to him, was a treat made by the gods. Why else? He scoffed, wondering how his human could even survive without chocolate.

The little blue Eevee wiggled her tail in the air playfully before pouncing on Shin, having every intention of chewing on the Oshawott as much as possible. It was new and it was a thing and it was new and it was a new thing and it looked so shiny and new and it was a thing and it had to go in her mouth.

"Because chocolate is amazing," Cassie said with a laugh, watching the Pikachu have a freak out hissy fit about a few drops of water. She, like Claire, found it more amusing than threatening.

"What's his name?" Cassie inquired curiously, letting her body sink in to the water up to her chin. The bottom of her shoulder-length blond hair was already getting wet, making it turn from its normal yellow to a dark yellow-brown.

Then she heard the excited squeals that came from her surprised Shin, and she turned around to see the blue Eevee excitedly chewing on his ear. She couldn't help but giggle.

"Poor Shin," she said, not really meaning it. "He must be terribly confused, he's never been used as a chewtoy before," she adding, laughing again, though she quickly stopped in surprise when the echos bounced loudly back to her.

Shin squealed as the blue 'Vee pounced on him, and he fell over because he was flailing so much when he felt her little teeth on his ear.

"Oshhaa!" he wailed, not enjoying the feeling at all. Not having any other recourse (she was so much bigger than him!), he merely sank his little teeth into her little paw as revenge to try to get her off of him.

This was not fun playing!

The Pikachu immediately pointed at the other human in the water, staring haughtily at his trainer with a look that clearly said 'See? See?!' At least someone recognized how purely, absolutely, undeniably amazing chocolate was.

Claire simply rolled her eyes in response, focusing on Cassie instead. "The Pikachu? Zeus," she replied, violet eyes sliding from her company to the mentioned electric-type, and finally rested on the blue pair. "That's Blue, short for Bluetooth. Got her as a 'gift' but really, the guy was just sick of her, I think. Anything and anyone is her chew toy, so watch out if you ever decide to pet her. She'll chew your fingers just the same as she'd chew one of her toys, so far with no sign of improvement." It really was incredibly vexing. That's why she bought all those toys for her, so she'd chew those instead of the woman's belongings, other pokemon, or herself. Ugh. "She'll learn eventually. Hopefully," she sighed. If not, well... She'd think of something. Maybe.

The fluffy menace continued chewing on her prey victim new friend, that is until she was bitten in return. She fell off him with a surprised squeal, pausing to blink perplexedly at him before squealing again, the intonation of this one indicating... joy? "Vuiivui!" With that she pounced him again, this time aiming for his tail. Now that looked interesting and shiny and she absolutely had to chew it. "Vfffrvv!"

"Well no wonder he's got an ego!" Cassie laughed, looking back at the orange rat--who seemed to be pleased that she shared his opinion on the heavenly food that was chocolate. "But, being named after a mythological being myself, I suppose I shouldn't jump to conclusions," Cassie added as an afterthought, rolling her eyes at herself.

Cassiopeia was such an utterly ridiculous name.

"Hang on for a sec, don't say anything," Cassie said, setting her goggles aside on the edge of the pool. Quickly, she dunked underwater to get her hair all the way wet, then came up a few moments later and wiped the water from her eyes.

"Sorry, it was bugging me," Cassie said with a sheepish smile. "Anyways, if you want to get Blue to stop doin' something, you could always try what my dad did to train his Purrloin--get a squirt bottle and spritz them whenever they do it. I dunno if an Eeve would hate it as much, but you never know. It might at least surprise her into submission, at least for a little while," Cassie added, laughing again.

Oh, so this was the game! Happy to understand now, Shin squeaked excitedly as he yanked his tail away, just before she pounced on it. Promptly, he whacked her (lightly) on the head with his otter-like tail, then took her moment of confusion to pounce on her instead, and promptly start nomming on the fluffy end of her tail.

However, he decided that he didn't really like the fluffy getting on his tongue, so he rolled off without complaint.

"Osha!" Shin giggled, clapping his little hands in excitement. This was a fun game! He thought for a moment, then realized it might be even more fun in the water! And his new friend was blue just like the water so she had to like it too!

This 'logic' making perfect sense to him, Shin hopped right in the pool and treaded water, squeaking excitedly to the 'Vee. "Osha! Oshawott!" He splashed around happily, moving in a little circle, then moving a little farther away so his new friend would have room to jump in too!

He couldn't wait to see if her tail tasted any different all wet!

Cassie? The full name of any mythological being that began with 'Cassie' didn't immediately present itself to the forefront of her recollections, so she dropped the internal search after a meager couple of seconds. It wasn't important, anyway, not was she even really curious about it - which was the diving force in a great deal of her actions - so she felt no need to bother thinking about it too much.

When the other girl emerged from the water, Claire furrowed her brows slightly and shook her head just a bit. "Not at all, I know the feeling exactly." Thankfully she'd been swimming laps before, so her hair was still mostly damp. As she spoke, her eyes slid to the blue Eevee at the edge of the pool. "I've tried that before. Nothing seems to work with her, I think I just need to find another outlet for her chewing behavior. I tried getting her a bunch of different kinds of toys, too, but she still chews everything else." She had seen something about some sort of liquid you could rub or spray on things you didn't want a pet to chew and it tasted horrible to them, but that would be ridiculous. She'd need to douse everything in her room, herself and her other pokemon included, for it to be any good.

The aforementioned 'vee paused at the edge of the water, peering at the Oshawott curiously, as well as the two humans, before tilting her head slightly. "Vui?" She hadn't ever gone in the water before, and she couldn't chew it, so she scooted back and flopped down on the tiles. "Vuiivui!" Why had her new chewtoy gone out of reach? She really wished he'd come back up onto the tiling so she could chew on him more.
