And we can discuss rules. We saw some positive changes the last time I ran a game, and some that weren't so hot. What do you want to see return, if anything? What can be improved on?
I mentioned these in the Paper Mario Mafia discussion thread, but I'll reiterate them here.
Things I liked:
- The posting requirement. The games where we've required at least one post/day have been a lot more active and we get more input from everyone.
- Longer days. I mentioned this during the newbie mafia as well; basing end of day on vote count is a bad idea since the day never ends, but having a day longer than 24 hours was really nice since everyone had time to check in and we had more time to strategize.
- Extra unused roles. Paranoia is fun!
biggrin Things I didn't like:
- The posting requirement. Specifically, there were a few people who got around it by posting once a day basically saying that they were alive and asking what they missed, and then contributing nothing else. Rule-wise, I don't think there's much that can be done about this though; you can't really require people to contribute.
- Longer days. Since the day was 28 hours we had some really weird end of day times, and during several days no one was around for the last few hours for end of day. Try to make the end of day time slightly more regular and at a time where people are active.
- Extra unused roles. For a little while there I was trying to figure out whether or not you could run a Mafia game without a Doctor.
I'm pretty neutral on whether lynch should be based on the most votes or a majority. The former means the Mafia can bandwagon to kill someone, but they still have to be clever about the bandwagoning or they'll reveal themselves in the process.
