i mean i can see where parent and child or grandparent and child relationships are taboo but i don't really see the problem with siblings or cousins being together as long as it is consensual. good example of what i mean (sad ending though): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqDAsi48TyE

I'll look up bible verses for this topic, but in my own opinion, I think it is a bad thing...
Looking at it from a science point of view, part of the reason family members shouldn't be together because of genes...When the same type of genes are put together (as in say a sibling relationship), the gene pool is never changed and natural mutations do not occur...Look at pure bred dogs for example: Pure breds never live as long as mutts because their genes are different and are allowed to change and adapt...Pure bred dogs are more likely to have health problems...In humans, unwanted mutations result from like-genes...The child born from incest is more prone to genetic diseases...
At least that is my understanding of it...Genes are a very difficult thing to discuss because there is so much we do not understand about them...

Incest is really, really bad. On the scientific side, incest opens thousands of doors to disorders and birth defects. Siblings is the worst. Even cousins create problems. And I know it is a bit confusing in Gensis how people would marry relatives, but at that time, God wanted people to populate the planet and that was the only way. When there were enough people on earth and genes were so mixed up, marrying siblings was not needed. Such relationships are against God's will and is not, I repeat, not at all good. I would advise against any relationships inside your family.
That story, though "touching" is a relationship highly frowned upon by God. God has said man is to leave his home and become one with a woman. We must leave our families in order to start our own with the opposite sex.

Lev. 20:11-12, "If there is a man who lies with his father's wife, he has uncovered his father's nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death, their bloodguiltiness is upon them. 12 If there is a man who lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed incest, their bloodguiltiness is upon them."
"You shall also not uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister or of your father's sister, for such a one has made naked his blood relative; they shall bear their guilt. 20 If there is a man who lies with his uncle's wife he has uncovered his uncle's nakedness; they shall bear their sin. They shall die childless. 21 If there is a man who takes his brother's wife, it is abhorrent; he has uncovered his brother's nakedness. They shall be childless."
But some may point out that Adam and Eve had children and since there were no other people around, their children would have had to commit incest in order to produce more children. At the time of creation, the genetic line was pure. It wasn't until later, at the time of Moses, that incest was then forbidden as the genetic pool became less and less able to stand interbreeding.
"No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the LORD," (Lev. 18:6).
