Pink tail fluff moved side to side in a lazy sway as the lioness reclined against the large boulder, the stone nice and warm against her underbelly as she relaxed. It was still early morning with the sun barely peeking over the horizon, so the heat wasn't too terrible. Not yet anyways.
Blinking open tired eyes, the lioness peered around her surroundings. She was near the watering hole, and it was always amusing to see all the different creatures wandering by. From the plump zebras to the scrawny meerkats, they were all coming to quench their thirst at different hours. Hmm, but for now she was lazy, and would hunt one of them another time. She wasn't hungry nor thirsty, and was content just to lay there like a lazy toad.

"Banzai!" howled Paki as he went tearing through a heard of gazelle. The gazelles cried out in surprise and scattered. In the panic one of the gazelle, too busy looking over his shoulder to see where he was going, charged straight for the lounging lioness. At the last second he saw his mistake and skidded, unable to stop, and jumped to the side, landing in a heap and sprinting away like a bat out of hell.
Meanwhile the wild dog continued harassing the gazelle, chasing them back and fourth like a puppy chasing field mice, until some of the older gazelle started to realize what was going on.

The lioness looked up in surprise, having not smelt the other predator among the groups of prey animals. The peace and quiet erupted into chaos as herds scattered in a frenzy, the ground rumbling under their hooves. Kusu gripped the boulder with her claws, looking side to side as the animals ran about. Ugh, just where was the hunter?!?
Looking forward, the lioness' ears fell back in limp fear as a gazelle charged right for her. It was too late, no way she could dodge that! But thankfully, the animal skipped and darted to the side of her, it's sharp hooves just barely breezing past her short mane. Kusu wheezed to the near death kick, blinking widely at the odd event. Just what the hell was all that about?.... But then she heard it, a canine laughter out by the pond. Growling to herself, the lioness forced her claws to relax and forced her bristled fur to settle down.
Stupid wild dog....

The gazelle bleated shrilly at the laughing canine. As the herd began to settle down the older gazelle charged at Paki with their horns. He dodged them, still cackling, but as the rest of the heard realized they weren't being hunted they also turned on him, stomping their hooves and shaking their horns. With no where else to turn Paki bolted away from the herd in the direction of a lioness he saw resting on a rock. Some of the gazelles chased him a little further. Once they saw where he was headed they quickly reconsidered and turned back to their herd.
Safely out of danger, Paki slowed to a trot, his tongue lolling out the side of his grinning mouth. When he saw the look on the lioness's face, however, he stopped short, although he never lost his smile. "Hey," he panted, "why the long face, dog?"

Taking the moment to recompose herself, the dark lioness looked on to the scene before her. It was amusing really, in its own....annoying sort of way. Her red eyes narrowed and she snirked as the gazelle began to realize the one-man army that had scared them so horribly. Too bad for the energetic dog, as it seemed he'd die in a stampede of angry hooves. At least that's what Kusu had anticipated.
Until the blasted canine came running to her boulder with his angry mob right behind him. Peeved to the low blow of his tactics, the lioness stood on her rock with bristled fur and sharp fangs showing as she growled. That seemed to do the job, as the gazelle's stuttered on their feet and their eyes glazed nervously. Thankfully, they weren't dumb enough to continue their chase, and instead skipped away to other grazing lands.
Snuffing at the group, Kusu then looked down at the wild dog. "What the hell. I should eat you where you stand." >c

Paki's smile only broadened, though there was a tinge of nervousness. The lioness could kill him very easily. Fortunately, she would need to catch him first and Paki felt quite confident in his speed and agility. If that failed he would simply dive into the lake. Cats can't swim, right?
"Hey, dog, that's not cool. I didn't mean any harm," he said, still smiling.

"Sure you didn't. I just nearly got my head kicked off. Twice." The lioness prowled off her boulder, moving slowly towards the green fellow with her long tail swishing behind her. "And now that you've had your fun, I suggest that you beat it. After all, you did just scare away my whole buffet selection there." She huffed at the canine, clearly unamused by any of his jokes or antics. What a poor waste of her morning, having to cut her relaxation early for the sake of this brat.
