User Image Angelic Rods Have Been Released!!!

I'm a little late, but wanted to post this for those who don't already know. The Angelic Rod has been released!!! Ever since then the debate has raged about what the qualifications are to receive one. Here's what I do know in chronological order:

[NPC] Old Man Logan
New Angelic Rod
To help y'all with the new fish, I decided to grant the legendary Angelic Rod to a handful of the most deservin' fishers in Gaia. If you want to join their ranks you had best get started fishin'!

Three Lakes
The smartest fishers know that the best fishin' holes are the ones off the beaten path. There are actually three lakes, all teeming with fish, and every lake is different. On your quest for the Angelic Rod, be sure to try them all:

Logan posted that back in November, however, I don't think anyone got their Angelic Rod until just recently, probably around the time this was posted:

Angelic Rods Granted
All angelic rods have now been granted to everyone that should have received them.

Lots of information and caveats below:
- only users that had logged in since 2010 were on the grant list
- rods for newly qualifying fishers will be granted on a weekly basis
- if you're coming back to the site after over a year, you'll need to fish again to show up and be checked for the weekly angelic rod grant.

There were some questions about the exact qualifications. For reasons of gameplay we would prefer not to divulge exact numbers, but we will say this:
- the rod does not require particular fish to be caught, nor does it depend on winning a trophy, nor does it depend on random events. It's fair from the standpoint that if you land enough fish, you'll get it.
- fish in any lake you want -- there aren't requirements that are tied to specific lakes
- the Gaia Fishing forum is converging pretty quickly on a fairly accurate guess, so if you're really interested there are some pretty canny guesses as to the requirements.

Angelic Rod Debate Thread

Angelic Rod Winners Stats Spreadsheet

Current speculation based on the data accumulated on the spreadsheet leads everyone to believe that in order to obtain an Angelic Rod through fishing, you need to fish around 4,000 buckets, or approximately 75,000 fish. So far this theory has been pretty solid. I'll keep you updated as I get more information.

Update!!!
I found this today (March 1st) in Gaidin's Fishing Guide confirming the 75,000 fish theory!:
Gaidin
User Image
Rod Name: Angelic Rod
Rod Cost: Cannot be purchased. Earned when you have caught 75,000 fish/junk.
Cast Distance: 100 ft. (Max Distance)
Line width and shape: Further distance apart, parallel, curve out at the bottom
Gaidin's personal advice on this Rod: It is basically a Strength Plus combined with a Distance Plus, giving you the lines of the Strength Plus, and the casting distance of a Distance Plus. The "Uber Rod" if you will, or at least it's upgraded form is. Yes, it can be upgraded. Became available on February 25th, 2011.

If you highlight the bottom of Panagrammic's post you'll find the following sequence hidden as white text:

Not a clue, it was just an interesting observation. I did notice a similar series of characters on one of Pangrammic's earlier posts as well. It was also hidden with white text.
