diedrich is a new npc that appeared Easter 2k10 event. you could see him waving his arms when you found a easter egg. he was in the frontier skies event, and the valentines 2k11 event(s). he is also know to love facts, no matter how disturbing they might be... his facts on his profile:

on april the 27th they made this comic. basically diedrich was trying to impress radio jack, but ended up getting kicked. in the earth dya flash space, he had a minor role saying:
* Hello! Did you know that my green fur acts as a natural camouflage? But only when I am hiding in green slime.
* Hello! Grunnies are very amorous species. I have had over two hundred anonymous sexual encounters with other grunnies!
* Hello! Did you know that virtual items are far better for the environment than real items?
* Hello! Are you aware that pikas are all going to die soon because of rising temperatures? Bye bye, whistling hare!

diedrich was one of the 4 guides you could choose from during the frontier skies event. he was the easiest one (supposedly) but he did increase your luck. during this event, 2 items were released related to him.  Diedrich's Crew  Frontier Skies Wind Medal

he recently co-hosted the valentines 2k11 event with radio jack. diedrich was PRO valentines unlike radio jack. in the valentines flash space, diedrich would say:
* Hugs are free, but kisses will cost you!
* My lips are so very tired and chapped from kissing night and day, but I won't quit until my shift is over!
* Fact: More germs are spread by kissing than by high fives, down lows, and wet willies combined.
* When I kiss with my eyes closed I see nothing but fire! Oh my, it is such a terrible world to behold! Ok, bye!
* Did you know that every kiss adds one millionth of a second to your life?
* Instead of kissing on the lips, grunnies take turns licking the fur off each other's forearms. Won't you join me?

THIS IS NOT PROVEN! wahmbulance there is alot of speculation surround diedrich. many (like i) think diedrich is jonny k gambino reincarnated. he appeared about the same time gambino died, and he even came from a urn similar to gambino. and his name, diedrich, is died-rich. and gambino died-rich.
it was rumored that the devs made him up for “no particular reason, and was really never meant to be so popular. more like a gag really.” but many gaians found his quirkiness humorous.

For example,

Do you have any examples of this? Did a dev say this? Was there a discussion thread about it in the GCD? If so, please post a link there. GiB isn't about rumors so much as facts. If not, you can put this is your speculation section.
Also, if you could please link to some of his forum posts directly that would be excellent.
Also, I would link up your speculation thread a little more. There have been tons of discussion threads in teh GCD about this. Have any devs commented? What about Diedrich himself? He says some wacky things, so I wouldn't be surprised if he mentioned something you could link to Gambino. If you want to further this research, consider making a Case Study Compare and Contrast between Gambino and Diedrich.
Just a few thoughts. Good job! If you want, you can make another NPC research thread. Or expand on an old one. I think our Gambino thread needs expansion.

Even if they did know, I wonder if they would still pick me up and shake me? When they see a small animal operating the television sets of their family people with its tiny hands, to pick up the small animal in the mouth becomes the dog's telos, or the purpose of the dog, and the dog is implacable until I am in its mouth. The dog will drop me soon, because my poison does not taste wonderful to dogs and also I have a very piercing scream which I deploy quite readily in dogmouth situations. The dog will feel a little bit ill and want to go out and eat some grass, and then barf. And if the dog is feeling whimsical, the dog may even endeavor to eat the barf! The world is a wonderful place, and I love everyone. See you soon.
